Experimental Investigation of Co2 Laser Cutting Parameters of AISI 304

Laser beam machining (LBM) is one of the most widely used thermal energy based non-contact type advance machining process which can be applied for almost whole range of materials. Laser beam is focussed for melting and vaporizing the unwanted material from the parent material. It is suitable for geometrically complex profile cutting and making miniature holes in sheet metal. Present study attempts to model and optimize the Surface Roughness using R.S.M. Approach. Input process parameters for this study are power intensity, cutting speed , pulse frequency and gas pressure. In this research Central Composite Design (CCD) is used for experimentation design. The adequacies of the above proposed model have been tested through the analysis of variance (ANOVA).
