Abstract |
An attempt has been made to study durability properties of fly ash and metakaolin blended concrete, when it is exposed to certain types of chemicals. Metakaolin is a thermally structured, ultra-fine pozzolana, which replaces industrial by-products such as silica fume, fly ash, etc. An experimental investigation has been carried out to evaluate the durability in terms of Chemical Resistance and weight loss of ternary blend concrete with for concrete of M40 grade. In this investigation an attempt is made with chemicals like H2SO4 and Na2SO4. The results show that the percentage of weight loss is reduced and compressive strength is increased in the case of ternary blend of fly ash and metakaolin concrete compared to normal concrete. Also the less percentage weight loss is noticed in the case of Na2SO4 and severe in the case of H2SO4. |
