Abstract |
In this paper a new UHF RFID tag antenna is utilized on the surface of the metallic item. In RFID applications, metal surface exists in various occasions. The UHF band is very sensitive to metals and metallic surfaces. Antenna parameters like radiation efficiency, directivity and reading distance are impacted heavily when the tag antenna is near a metal. So a special tag and some special handling features need to be applied on the metal surface. Tag antenna with 920MHz frequency band suits for better performance on the metal surface. It has a better edge with respect to planar structure, small size and low cost. Applications involving metal identification, the proposed antenna provides an effective solution in the UHF band. The same is validated by the simulation results. |
