Abstract

This research determines the strength characteristics of sugar cane fiber added into concrete. The Utilization of fiber in concrete production not only solves the problem of disposing this solid waste but helps conserve natural resources. A total of 15 each for cubes are cast for this study. The cubes were of dimension 150mm × 150mm × 150mm. Five mixes of various strength grades were prepared at varying percentages of 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 %. The concrete with no fiber served as control. Water-cement ratio of 0.5 was maintained for all mixes. The design mix obtained was1:1.5:3. Compressive strength, flexural strength, splitting tensile strength was determined at 7, 14, and 28 days of curing.
