Abstract

The main objective of the project was to improve the productivity of the production line, by identifying the value added activities and eliminates the non value added activities through time study. To improve the value added activities of the line and to carry out line balancing of the line with respect to the allocation of workers and stations of the line. Using the technique of ranked positional weight method the line balancing of workstation was done. Line efficiency and balance delay of current and future state were calculated to know the changes in the production line. Volvo Construction Equipment, Bangalore is a worldwide known brand company that deals with construction equipment like excavator, road machinery, and pavers. In India they manufacture only Excavators, Road machinery and Pavers. The project was carried out in the Paver assembly line, where they manufacture two models of pavers, which are 4370B, 4320B.
