Comparative Performance of PMSM Drive using FOPI and PI Controllers under Dynamic Loads

The main objective of this paper is to design a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drive for controlling speed under various operational conditions of loads. Modelling and simulation of the drive system was carried out using integer order (IO) PI and compared with the fractional order proportional integral (FOPI). Fractional order is applied in the IOPI controller and analysis was done for different dynamics. The use FOPI improves the performance of the PMSM drive system which is observed in output waveforms. The performance and robustness of the proposed controller were also tested.
