Efficiency Improvement of Multilevel Inverter using Hybrid Switching Technique

Abstract

A seven level cascaded H bridge three phase inverter is presented in this paper. An idea to decrease harmonics and distortions in inverter is proposed. To reduce harmonics and distortions two different schemes of switch modulations technique has been implemented. The final output of the inverter is effective addition of pulse width modulation (PWM) and sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM). A hardware set up of single phase inverter is built to verify simulation results which show reduction in harmonics and distortions. The simulation of the proposed scheme is done with RL load, the transient levels are reduced to certain extent after using PWM and SPWM techniques together. It forms hybrid modulation technique.
