The present study deals with the estimation of trends in area and production of food grains in Himachal Pradesh was carried out using secondary time series data on area and productivity of food grains for last 26 years from 1989 to 2014. Different prediction models viz. linear, quadratic, compound power and autoregressive model were tried to forecast the area and production of food grains. Significant(R) Ì…^2, lowest SE, were selection criteria for a model. Power model was best fitted model to predict the food grains production on the basis of area in Himachal Pradesh. An increase in productivity in food grains was detected during the studied period. |
