Comparative Analysis of Comparators using Different Logic Adder Styles at 180nm
-Sukhdeep Kaur ; Er. Swaranjeet Singh ; Hardeep Kaur
In this paper 4-bit comparators are designed with six different logic of full-adder design styles at 180nm VLSI technology and all designs operated at 3.3Mhz frequency 1.8V that simulates all circuits. The circuits are designed and simulated using Tanner EDA software tools. It is concluded from power dissipation comparison that CMOS has lowest power dissipation results while DVL design style has highest in comparison. It is concluded from Propagation delay comparison that DPL design style has least propagation delay time at 180nm. So it is better to use DPL/DVL logic style to design a system where fast speed is required. The GDI and CPL technique have large delay compare to others. It is concluded from number of transistors comparison that TG technique requires less number of transistor to design a system than other two design styles. So electronics circuits designed using TG logic style will occupy less space on the chip. It is also concluded that TG style has the lowest figure of merit than other two design styles at 180nm. Thus TG and DVL have the best performance in terms of speed and power dissipation at lower supply voltages. It is a also concluded that as technology is scaling down, it is becoming more advantageous in terms of less supply voltages, less power dissipation and having less delay. Main emphasis on Power Delay Product which is less in Transmission gate logic style of adders. Read More...

Investigation Method to Reduce Silica from Boiler Feed Water to Improve Boiler Performance of the Plant
-Sajjanraddy ; Kiran CH; Rajendra Prasad
During routine of boilers, water analysis of blast furnace, it was observed that, silica, conductivity & PH value increases as compared to normal value, also wheel chamber pressure & axial displacement of the impulse with reaction type turbine increases. After checking it is found that, the demineralised water plant has committed mistake during regeneration. The design specification of the boiler and DM plant has to provide DM water less than < 0.02 ppm (20 ppb) of Silica (Sio2), but it was providing water, more than > 0.02ppm (20 ppb) of Silica. Hence to achieve designed value, various parameters affecting the boiler performance are studied in detail. The best method after theoretically observation is found to be the method of Ultrafiltration. This filtration method provides water at designed rate & also results in decreased in silica level, conductivity, fuel consumption & steam generation is increased. Read More...

Integrated Deadline Scheduling with MapReduce Tasks in Hadoop
-Sunita Ashok Patil ; Geetha J
The MapReduce model implemented by Hadoop is the standard platform for applications processing Big Data. Schedulers are critical in enhancing the performance of MapReduce/Hadoop with limited computing resources in presence of multiple jobs with different characteristics and performance goals. The commonly used schedulers include the First In First Out (FIFO), Capacity, Fair Scheduler etc. But none of the above schedulers consider the strong dependency between the map and reduce tasks. They fail to jointly optimize the placement of map and reduce tasks. They even ignore the data locality for reduce tasks and the deadline constraints for jobs. The Fair Scheduler is not fair to reduce tasks and might cause starvation when allocating excess resources to reduce task without jointly optimizing with map task. The delay scheduling might lead to under utilization of resources at times. Considering all of the above problems, we propose a resource aware Integrated Preemptive Deadline Scheduler with the MapReduce Task Coupling which jointly optimizes the map and reduce tasks by coupling their progress and ensures deadline completion of jobs. The integrated approach ensures fast and under deadline completion of jobs. It mitigates job starvation and makes better slot utilization for reducing the total completion time of jobs. Thus the integrated scheduler improves data locality, slot utilization, mitigates starvation and ensures under deadline completion. Read More...

A Comparative Analysis of Multicasting Routing Protocols in MANET under various Placement Models
-Paritam Soni ; Nagendra Sah; Nagendra Pal
Multicast routing is a key technology for modern communication networks. In multicasting, a single copy of message is sent by the source to multiple receivers on a shared channel. This is especially appropriate in wireless networks where bandwidth is scarce and many users are sharing the same wireless channels. Wired and infrastructure based wireless networks are supported by many multicast routing protocols. But one particularly challenging environment for multicasting is MANETs (Mobile Ad-hoc Networks). MANET is a collection of mobile nodes connected by wireless links forming a dynamic topology without any network infrastructure such as routers, servers, access points/cables or centralized administration. In MANET, each node can act as both host and router. This paper presents the simulation and analysis of three existing multicast routing protocols for MANETs namely On-demand Multicast Routing Protocol (ODMRP), Multicast Open Shortest Path First (MOSPF) an Distance Vector Multicast Routing Protocol (DVMRP). Qualnet 5.2 is used as simulation tool for carrying out simulations. Read More...

Experimental Study and Analysis of Heat Transfer Enhancement of Tube in Tube Heat Exchanger Using Delta Winglet and Triethylene Glycol
-Jignesh B. Chhatbar ; Jaiwick P. Soni; Jayeshkumar B. khunt
The heat transfer characteristics of water based Triethylene glycol in a Tube and Tube Heat exchanger with the aid of delta winglet and inserts will being study. Investigations will be on the effects of Reynolds’s number and Nusselt number with the effect of the water based Conductive fluid concentration on the heat transfer. An increase in the volume concentration of the conductive particles in the base fluid caused a significant enhancement in the overall heat transfer characteristics compared to that of water. When a delta winglet and inserts will use, further increment in overall heat transfer coefficient will find for a particular Reynolds’s number and Nusselt number. The superior thermal characteristics of Conductive fluid obtained with the aid of delta winglet may be attributed to the thermal dispersion effect. This study is a comparison for Laminar flow and Turbulent flow of water based Conductive fluid for heat transfer enhancement depending on Reynolds’s Number and Nusselt Number. Study also involves analysis of Heat transfer enhancement of tube in tube Heat exchanger using delta winglet, inserts and by water based Triethylene glycol. Read More...

Performance Improvement of OCDMA System Using Optical Normalizer
-Kavish Sareen ; Dr. Neena Gupta
The need of ultra high speed communication network has encouraged the telecom industry to investigate the hidden potential of Optical Code Division Multiple Access (OCDMA) in LANs. OCDMA is considered as the optimal solution as it provides huge bandwidths as compared to the other existing multiple access systems. However, Multiple Access Interference (MAI) increases with the increase in number of simultaneous users which severely limits the performance of the OCDMA system. MAI can be reduced by using optical hard limiter placed at the front end of the receiver. But the drawback associated with it is that it is not able to handle random signals effectively. To overcome this problem, there is a strong need for the design of new detection scheme that will be proved efficient enough to enhance the performance of the OCDMA system, while reducing the effects of the MAI. A new technique using optical normalizer employing dynamic thresholding is introduced. The performance of system, in terms of BER and Q factor, is compared to the previous technique used to mitigate the effect of MAI. Read More...
