Abstract |
The Carbon fiber-reinforced composites (CFRP) in the automotive industry offer a significant advantage due to their superior strength-to-weight ratio, high stiffness, and excellent fatigue and impact resistance. These composites consist of carbon fibers embedded in a polymer matrix, providing a material that is both lightweight and extremely strong. The use of CFRP in automobiles leads to reduced vehicle weight, which enhances fuel efficiency, accelerates performance, and improves handling. Additionally, the material's high impact resistance contributes to increased safety. CFRP also allows for greater design flexibility, enabling the creation of complex and aerodynamic shapes. Despite its high cost and the challenges associated with manufacturing, CFRP is increasingly being adopted in high-performance and luxury vehicles. Ongoing research aims to make CFRP more cost-effective and easier to produce, paving the way for broader application in the automotive industry. |
