Abstract |
Dry EDM is an environmental friendly machining process were liquid dielectric is replaced by gaseous dielectrics. There are presented performance characteristics of the process, using various gases and their mixtures as dielectric medium. The main aim is to study the effect of gap voltage, discharge current, pulse-on time, duty factor, air pressure and spindle speed on Material removal Rate (MRR), Surface Roughness (Ra) and Tool Wear Rate (TWR). Influence of gas pressure, flow rate and rotational speed of the electrode are also discussed resulting in finding optimal conditions for machining, depending on the optimization criteria. |
