Performance Analysis of Pipe By Different Bend Angles Using CFD

Abstract

Many losses occur in the pipe network when fluid passes through the pipe and bends. The loss happens in terms of velocity drops, pressure drops and temperature drop etc. From the losses, one loss in the pipe network is due to pipe bend also. There are limited bend angles available in the market to join pipes. This paper focuses on performing CFD analyses of different bend angles applied in piping implemented for Jet dying machine for steam supply. The results obtained with the analysis suggest that the temperature difference at inlet and outlet of the pipe can be significantly reduced by using alternative bend angles.
