Abstract |
The objective of this paper is to design a composite drive shaft by using classical lamination theory. Substituting composite structure for conventional metallic structures has many advantages because of higher specific stiffness and strength of composite materials. This work deals with the replacement of conventional two-piece steel drive shaft with single-piece carbon/epoxy. The substitution of composite drive shaft has resulted in considerable weight reduction about 64 % compared to conventional steel shaft. |
