Abstract |
Surface Metal Matrix Composites (SMMCs) are successfully being fabricated through Friction Stir Processing (FSP). In the present work, defect free SMMC of AA-6061 reinforced with Silicon Carbide (SiC) particles is fabricated through FSP. Subsequently Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) is carried out on the SMMC samples to evaluate the machinability characteristics. Taguchi technique with standard L9 Orthogonal Array is adopted for the design of experiments. ANOVA has been employed to identify the influence of a particular input parameter during EDM. Optimization of Electric Discharge Machining was achieved for the best values of Material Removal Rate (MRR), Tool Wear Rate (TWR) and Surface Roughness (SR). |
