Abstract

A new control algorithm which enables the Doubly Fed Induction Motor (DFIM) to operate in both the extended torque and extended power region is proposed here. This algorithm is employed for EV/HEV application. Torque and air-gap flux of a DFIM can be controlled directly. Flux weakening region operation is made possible by controlling current phase shift angle.
