Abstract |
The word entrepreneur or entrepreneurship derives from the French word entreprendre, which means, to undertake. Generally, an entrepreneur is a person who initiates, runs a business or one who work for himself /herself rather than an employee of another company. Entrepreneurs require capital money for setting up a business, or a successful operation of the trade, customary improvement and modernization of the business. Indian government, at various levels and capacity, have taken a number of steps by preparing various policies and schemes, for the promotion and development of enterprises. However, no much initiative comes from young adults to become entrepreneurs, especially from the rural areas. College is the ideal place to conceive and develop entrepreneurship initiatives, as the young adults learn many skills and techniques related to their future career and profession. This study explores the various reasons that forbid the rural college students from taking entrepreneurship initiatives. Further, the study also evaluates the various initiatives taken by colleges in motivating young rural adults to become entrepreneurs. |
