An Efficient Resource Utilization Scheme for Video Transmission over Wireless Sensor Networks
-K. Swathi ; K. Murali Krishna; Prof. P. Sanjeeva Reddy; G.S.Naveen Kumar; B.Suresh Babu
In this paper we propose an energy efficient video transmission strategy for wireless sensor networks, which combines wavelet-based image decomposition and cooperative communication. The proposed scheme uses the selective decode and forward (SDF) cooperation, so that a relay node collaborates with the source by forwarding only a lower-resolution version of the original video, obtained via discrete wavelet transform (DWT). We show that the proposed SDF-DWT strategy is more energy efficient than non-cooperative single-hop and multi-hop, also outperforming the regular SDF scheme. In addition, we show that our method can achieve the energy efficiency of incremental DF (IDF), without the need of a feedback channel. Read More...

Integrated Resource Adaptive On Demand Geographic Routing (IRA-ODGR) for MANET
-K.Sathishkumar ; M J.Kalaiselvi
It is a big challenge to develop routing protocol that can meet different application needs and optimize routing paths according to the topology change in mobile ad hoc networks. The existing work presented two self-adaptive on-demand geographic routing schemes to build efficient paths based on the needs of user applications and adapt to various scenarios for provide efficient and reliable routing. To overcome the impact due to inaccurate local topology knowledge, the topology information is updated at a node in the specific time periods. The on-demand routing mechanism reduces to control overhead made on geographic routing. The route optimization scheme adapts routing path according to the topology changes and actual data traffic requirements. Adaptive parameter setting scheme is introduced to allow each node to determine and adjust the protocol parameter values independently. However, existing work did not address resource parameters such as energy, bandwidth and data loss. The proposal presents and Integrated Resource Adaptive on Demand Geographic Routing (IRA-ODGR) for MANET. The node energy resource is optimized with path energy consumption rate and bandwidth utilization of the path is analysed. Loss rate is reduced in geographic routing with dynamic routes. The simulation conducted to demonstrate IRA-ODGR routing protocols. Read More...

Analysis of SRS Effects at Different Number of Channels and Power Levels and on the Performance of DWDM System
-Saikat Saha ; Pratham Majumder; Soundarya M.
Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) effect is one of the Nonlinear effects in Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexed (DWDM) Fiber Optic Communication System. The effect of Stimulated Raman Scattering causes power to be transferred from the lower wavelength channel to the higher wavelength channel. This will reduce the Optical Signal to Noise Ratio (OSNR) for the high frequency channel or low wavelength channel. SRS effect is studied for different input power and for different number of wavelengths. SRS effect could be reduced by setting optimum optical power in the fiber. Various channel (4,8,11) DWDM system for various power levels of individual channels is stimulated in the sample mode of OPTSIM software for getting the effects of SRS like Power Tilt in the optical spectrum, after the fiber. A Compressed Sensing Approach to Image Reconstruction
-Arvinder Kaur ; Sumit Budhiraja
compressed sensing is a new technique that discards the Shannon Nyquist theorem for reconstructing a signal. It uses very few random measurements that were needed traditionally to recover any signal or image. The need of this technique comes from the fact that most of the information is provided by few of the signal coefficients, then why do we have to acquire all the data if it is thrown away without being used. A number of review articles and research papers have been published in this area. But with the increasing interest of practitioners in this emerging field it is mandatory to take a fresh look at this method and its implementations. The main aim of this paper is to review the compressive sensing theory and its applications. Read More...

-C. V. Sakthi Priya
Visual prior from generic real-world images study to represent that objects in a scene. The existing work presented online tracking algorithm to transfers visual prior learned offline for online object tracking. To learn complete dictionary to represent visual prior with collection of real world images. Prior knowledge of objects is generic and training image set does not contain any observation of target object. Transfer learned visual prior to construct object representation using Sparse coding and Multiscale max pooling. Linear classifier is learned online to distinguish target from background and also to identify target and background appearance variations over time. Tracking is carried out within Bayesian inference framework and learned classifier is used to construct observation model. Particle filter is used to estimate the tracking result sequentially however, unable to work efficiently in noisy scenes. Time sift variance were not appropriated to track target object with observer value to prior information of object structure. Image segmentation Based on Chan-Vese Active Contours using Finite Difference Scheme
-Mr. Rajesh A. Jadav ; Dr. Shailesh S. Patel; Dr. Dilip C. Joshi
There are a lot of image segmentation techniques
that try to differentiate between backgrounds and object
pixels but many of them fail to discriminate between
different objects that are close to each other, e.g. low
contrast between foreground and background regions
increase the difficulty for segmenting images. So we
introduced the Chan-Vese active contours model for image
segmentation to detect the objects in given image, which is
built based on techniques of curve evolution and level set
method. The Chan-Vese model is a special case of
Mumford-Shah functional for segmentation and level sets. It
differs from other active contour models in that it is not edge
dependent, therefore it is more capable of detecting objects
whose boundaries may not be defined by a gradient. Finally,
we developed code in Matlab 7.8 for solving resulting
Partial differential equation numerically by the finite
differences schemes on pixel-by-pixel domain. Read More...

Position Control of Satellite In Geo-Stationary Orbit Using Sliding Mode Control Algorithm
-Rajendra Patel ; Yash Sharma
In this paper, sliding mode control, or SMC, in control theory is a form of variable structure control (VSC). It is a nonlinear control method that alters the dynamics of a nonlinear system by application of a high-frequency switching control. It switches from one continuous structure to another based on the current position in the state space. The state feedback control law is not a continuous function of time. Hence, sliding mode control is a variable structure control method. The multiple control structures are designed so that trajectories always move toward a switching condition, and so the ultimate trajectory will not exist entirely within one control structure. Instead, the ultimate trajectory will slide along the boundaries of the control structures. The motion of the system as it slides along these boundaries is called a sliding mode and the geometrical locus consisting of the boundaries is called the sliding (hyper) surface. Using this law we can control the Satellite's position in Geostationary Orbit. Read More...

The Impact of Lean Production on the Cycle Time: A Case Study of a Welding Assembly Line in Kerala
-Kiron K. R. ; Sreelekshmy Pillai G.; Rajesh Menon B.; Santhosh Kumar S.; Anoop Kumar G.
The growing global competition is forcing the organisations to reduce the cost for increasing the profit. Lean manufacturing is a powerful tool for attaining this. The history of lean manufacturing starts from the craft production of 1900's. It is evolved through the contributions of F.W. Taylor, Henry Ford, Eiji Toyoda & Taiichi Ohno. The main concept of the lean manufacturing is the reduction in cost by eliminating waste. However, not all lean implementations have produced such results. In this study, a critical examination of lean manufacturing implementation experience at the welding department of a medium size industry located in Kerala, India. . Cycle time reduction is an important way by eliminating or reducing non-value-added activities. To reduce the overall cycle time of manufacturing, the cycle time of each sub-assembly needs to be reduced. Reducing cycle time will have a significant impact on a company's bottom line when implemented. The outcome of this study leads to substantial reduction in cycle time, reduced defects, better utilization of human resource and machines, and reduced cost of maintenance. It has been proved and validated by an empirical relation. The cause and effect diagram is used for analysing the cycle time reduction. The Quality control chart is also used. The improved return on investment (ROI) and reduction in cycle time shows the feasibility. The data for this study were obtained through interviews, Questionnaire survey and archival sources. Design and Implementation of TARF: A Trust-Aware Routing Framework for WSNs
-L. Ravi Kumar ; Narsimha Banothu; G. Charles Babu; P. Vinod Kumar
The multi-hop routing in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) offers little protection against identity deception through replaying routing information. An adversary can exploit this defect to launch various harmful or even devastating attacks against the routing protocols, including sinkhole attacks, wormhole attacks and Sybil attacks. The situation is further aggravated by mobile and harsh network conditions. Traditional cryptographic techniques or efforts at developing trust-aware routing protocols do not effectively address this severe problem. To secure the WSNs against adversaries misdirecting the multi-hop routing, we have designed and implemented TARF, a robust trust-aware routing framework for dynamic WSNs. Without tight time synchronization or known geographic information, TARF provides trustworthy and energy-efficient route. Most importantly, TARF proves effective against those harmful attacks developed out of identity deception; the resilience of TARF is verified through extensive evaluation with both simulation and empirical experiments on large-scale WSNs under various scenarios including mobile and RF-shielding network conditions. Further, we have implemented a low-overhead TARF module in Tiny OS; as demonstrated, this implementation can be incorporated into existing routing protocols with the least effort. Based on TARF, we also demonstrated a proof-of-concept mobile target detection application that functions well against an anti-detection mechanism. Read More...

Optimization Approach of Vehicle Routing By a Milk-Run Material Supply System
-Dr. M. B. Patel ; Dipteshkumar Patel
Material handling is one of the most crucial issues that should be taken into account for eliminating waste and reducing the cost. The purpose of this research is to develop a mathematical model, which will be helpful to construct the routes and determine the service period for the design of milk-run material supply system. The material supply by this system occurs on a just-in-time basis from a central warehouse to several stations. Milk-run material supply system is the round trips are either goods collected from several suppliers and transported to one customer, or goods collected from one supplier and transported to several customers. Besides, it's intends to construct routes based on an initial service period value and attempts to improve the solution by considering different period values. The most suitable solution is decided on the basis of the least total material handling and inventory holding cost. The objective of the mathematical model is the minimization of the total material handling and inventory holding cost. These saving could be either use for reduction of the product cost, which will boost up the sales or to lift the company profit margin. Read More...
