Analysis of the Performance of Active Type SFCL and FCL for Reduction Capability’s Under Fault Current and Over Voltage in a Dg Source Integrated Distribution System
-B.Nirananda Yogi ; B.Krishna
The Active Superconducting Current Controller (ASCC) is a new type of Fault Current Limiters which can limit the fault current in different modes and also has the particular abilities of compensating active and reactive power for AC main circuit in the normal state. The use of the ASCC disturbs the operation of Over Current Relays (OCR) used in the distribution system. In consideration that applying superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) may be a feasible solution, in this paper, the effects of a voltage compensation type active SFCL. The magnetic field in the air core can be controlled by PWM inverter output. Hence, the equivalent impedance can be maintained and overvoltage suppression is possible. The fault current and voltage suppression characteristics are simulated in mat lab. The simulation results show that the active SFCL and FCL can play an obvious role in restraining the fault current and overvoltage, and it can contribute to avoiding damage on the relevant distribution equipment and improve the systems safety and reliability. Correlative Study on the Modeling and Control of Boost Converter using Advanced Controllers
-G.C.Sowparnika ; A.Sivalingam; M.Thirumarimurugan
DC-DC converters are switched power converters. The converters are most widely used in research and industrial applications. The DC-DC Boost Converters are used to step-up the supply voltage given to the plant model. The main advantage of using the Boost Converters is that it works in the low voltage according to the design specifications. In order to regulate the uncontrolled supply of voltage, a controller has to be designed and modeled to stabilize the output voltage. Since the convectional controllers cannot work under dynamic operating conditions, advanced controllers are to be designed to overcome the problems. In this article, the advanced controllers such as NARMA-L2, Fuzzy Logic (FLC) and Sliding Mode Controllers (SMC) are implemented and their responses are compared using MATLAB. Read More...

Compression Buckling Analysis of Vertical Tail Stiffened Panels
-Shaikh.Md.Furkhan ; Amabadas.Kadam
Thin structural members are susceptible to buckling under compression loading. Aircraft skin is always thin irrespective of the size of the aircraft. Therefore, when the skin undergoes compression, it is likely to buckle. Vertical tail of the aircraft experiences bending, whenever the rudder is deflected to achieve the yawing motion of the aircraft. Side load will cause the bending of the vertical tail, which introduces tension and compression stress field in the two side skins respectively. This project includes the linear static analysis of the vertical tail box structure and buckling analysis of the stiffened panels undergoing compression. A linear static buckling analysis of the vertical tail box structure will be carried out to identify the most critical panel. After that the critical panel is taken for buckling analysis. For machining of brittle materials like glass, ceramics etc., ultrasonic machining has become very popular. Number of engineering and common applications require use of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GFRP) and it is essential to machine features in this material for use. In this work, full factorial design of experiments (DoE) based investigation is conducted to study the effect of process parameters on ultrasonic drilling of GFRP. The control parameters selected include amplitude, pressure and thickness of the GFRP sheet being machined. Three levels of each of these parameters are selected giving 33 = 27 trials. The material removal rate (MRR), overcut (OC), taper, top delamination and bottom delamination produced on the GFRP while slitting are measured as response parameters. Ultrasonic machining has number of process parameters and is not a simple process to control and get desired machining results. Grey relational analysis is applied to the experimental data to obtain the best combination of input parameters for different cutting conditions like roughing, semi-finishing and finishing. Parameter combinations are given grades using grey relational analysis (GRA) process and the optimum combination is suggested for various requirements of machining in terms of roughing, semi-finishing and finishing. Image re-ranking, is an quite an efficient way to improve the results that are fetched from the web-based image search query. Given a query keyword for the image, a pool of images are first retrieved based on textual information, then the images are re-ranked based on their visual similarities with the query image according to the user input. But when, the images’ visual features do not match with the semantic meanings of the users’ entered query or keyword, it becomes a major challenge to make available the actual searched image. Hence, in this paper, the various Web image Re- ranking techniques are studied, on how it approaches towards the Web Image search that the user has input in query. Read More...

Seismic Evaluation of Multi-storeyed Buildings On Plain Ground And Curve Slope Ground
-Md Sadruddin ; Prof. Amaresha
Most of the hilly regions of India are highly seismic. Buildings on hill slopes differ in a way from other buildings. The soft storeies are typical feature in modern constructions specially in seismic areas which has been experience by the previous studies and past earthquakes. Due to verious type of structures on sloped ground structures are comes under irregularity and asymmetricity. Structures on slope leads to seismic cases. The damages to the structures are determined and acceptable safety can be provided. The linear-elastic analysis is not adequate in highly seismic areas. Thus for the design of building in seimic areas and sloped areas inelastic procedure is used. In the present dissertation work, 3D analytical model of eleven storeyed buildings on plain and curved ground have been generated. Models are analyze using ‘‘ETABSâ€to get the behavior of structure due to change in column height in ground story due to curved sloped ground. The analytical model of the building includes all important components that influence the mass, strength, stiffness and deformability of the structure. To study the effect of infill, concrete shear wall and concrete core wall during earthquake, seismic analysis using both elastic and inelastic method of analyses i.e., linear static (equivalent static method), linear dynamic (response spectrum method) has been performed. The deflections at each storey level has been compared by performing equivalent static method, response spectrum method. Storey drifts are within the permissible limit given for linear static and linear dynamic method. Again contrary to common practice, the presence of masonry infills, concrete shear and concrete core wall may affect the overall behavior of structure while subjected to earthquake forces. Analysis to Improve the Service Life of Condensate Extraction Pump
-Siddharth Agnihotri ; Pushkin Gautam
In the present scenario, Energy demand is increasing day by day. To meet that demand a lot of thermal power plants are being set up throughout the world. In thermal power plants one of the important role is played by condensate extraction pumps just place after the condenser. Condensate pump is a specific type of pump used to pump the condensate (water) produced in an HVAC (heating or cooling), refrigeration and condensing boiler furnace or steam system. While analyzing the design of condensate pump, it was observed that a cut-less rubber bearing was incorporated between the rotating (shaft sleeve) and stationary (Bowl ,bell mouth etc.) parts of the pump to increase the pump service life but due to the tendency of wear it lead to poor service life and wear and tear of the pump parts. In the present investigation, analysis was carried out on a rotary condensate pump of power rating 500 KW. In the pump, peek metal was introduced between the rotating and stationary parts and the design was analyzed. It was observed that the service life improved by 1.5 times(3 years). Also the wear and tear of parts reduced tremendously and unwanted replacement of parts was prevented. Read More...

An Improved the High Voltage Boost Inversion Ability of Switched Inductor Quasi ZSI by PWM Technique
-Srishti Ujjainiya ; J.S.Shakya
This paper presents an improved the high voltage boost inversion ability of switched inductor quasi ZSI by using Boost PWM technique. This presents a comparative analysis of Boost Inversion Ability of Switched Inductor Quasi z-source inverter (SL-QZSI) with conventional z-source Inverter (ZSI). In comparison to conventional ZSI for the same value of voltages in the input and output the proposed SL-QZSI provides the less count on passive component a dc-source with common ground less voltage across the capacitors it gives the continuous input current current shoot through is reduced and also the current stress across the inductor and diodes are reduced. This thesis presents the operating principle boost inversion ability analysis simulation results and comparison of conventional ZSI with SLQZSI The simulation results confirmed the ability of high step up inversion by this proposed SL-QZSI. An extended switched inductor quasi z-source inverter (ESL-QZSI) with high boost voltage inversion ability is presented which combines the SL-QZSI with the traditional boost converter as well as improves the switched-inductor cell. Compared with the classic SL-QZSI topologies the proposed topology reduces the voltage stresses of capacitors power devices and diodes for the same input. The operation principle of the proposed topology is analyzed in detail. In addition, the performance of the proposed topology is verified by simulations and experiments. Read More...

An Enhance Image Retrieval of User Interest Using Query Specific Approach and Data Mining Technique
-Pinal Patel ; Dr.Premal J patel
In recent years, image retrieval process has increased artistically. An image retrieval system is a process for searching and retrieving images from large amount of the image dataset. Color, texture and edge have been the primitive low level image descriptors in content based image retrieval systems. In this paper we discover a system which splits the search process into two stages. In the query specify approach the feature descriptors of a query image we re-extracted and then used to check the similarity between the query image and those images which is in database. In the evolution stage, the most relevant images where retrieved by using the Interactive genetic algorithm. IGA help the users to retrieve the images that are most relevant to the users’ need and SVM will rank the image as their title and as par time of search. So that user can get search image as par their requirements. Read More...

Piping Stress Analysis of a Hypothetical Oil Refinery Plant Having Separate Suction & Discharge Lines
-Shweta Bisht
In this study, a hypothetical simulation model is analyzed under varying uncertainty conditions; the key features of overlapping and functional interaction affect the performance measures of development time and effort. Findings indicate that, first and foremost, whether or not overlapping occurs, increasing functional interaction eventually leads to a sound system. A selective overview of group & individual process behaviors of a combined suction & discharge cycles of a hypothetical oil refinery plant is suggested. The pipe material is Carbon fiber reinforced plastic which is chosen because of its excellent length to weight ratio & it serves as an integral part the system which involves tank piping. This model uses psychologically legitimate & theoretically grounded models for time & decision rules. The results of preliminary simulation experiments suggest that the model is sensitive to structural & pay- off density & precisely replicates ideal free distributions. Pipe network models allow the modeling of storage tanks in which the working fluid (here, Naphtha) surface is inconsistent with inflow & outflow. Stress analysis of CFRP material shows that the maximum stresses are within allowable material strength. From the trials, it can be accomplished that, with proper design parameters, CFRP can take the design load similar to that of steel & other alloys Read More...

A Survey On Real Time State Estimation For Optimal Placement Of Phasor Measurement Units In Power Systems Using Kalman Filter
-Gazala Rashid ; Vaibhav Shukla; Munmun; Kirpal Singh Doad
The traditional methods of security assessment using offline data and SCADA data have become inconsistent for real time operations. The latest and propelled strategy in electric power system used for security assessment is “synchrophasor†measurement technique. The device called Phasor measurement unit (PMU) provides the time stamped data for proper monitoring, control and protection of the power system. PMU measures positive sequence voltage and current time synchronized to within a microsecond. The time synchronization of data is done with the help of timing signals from Global Positioning System (GPS). However, Phasor measurements units cannot be placed on every bus in a network mainly because of economical constraints. In this paper we provide a literature survey of determining the minimum number of Phasor measurement units to be placed in a given network so that the system becomes observable. Read More...

Stabilization of Natural Soil with Sand and Cement
-Devansh Jain ; Sanjay Kumar Shrivastava
In western Madhya Pradesh generally black cotton soil is found, Black cotton soil is exceptionally feeble and does not have enough steadiness for a development work. On pavement, subgrade layer is the base most layer basic the base form or surface form. To prepare the subgrade soil stable, by enhancing its building properties is extremely rudimentary. In the present study, an adjustment of subgrade soil by using sand and cement i.e. varying the rate of sand and consistent rate of cement by weight of soil is applied to improve the strength of subgrade soil. The grounds for this field is to determine the ideal measurement of the stabilizer, which heightens the effectiveness of soil. Which will be suited for pavement construction. To assess the strength of soil, different test has been performed on the soil. It has been noticed that sand and cement increases the effectiveness of the land. Read More...

A Novel Design and Computational Fluid Dynamics of Swirl Flow Enhancing Device in Intake of IC Engine
-Jayakrishnan.S
The present paper work is directed to a device located at the intake port at the junction of the intake manifold and the engine head. This location allows the device to be used with any type of carburetor or fuel injection system. It is the object of the present device to utilize at least three fixed, helically twisted blades to impart additional swirl mixing of the fuel/air mixture. This fuel/air mixture has already been pre-heated by its travel through the intake manifold. The "violent swirl" created by the device provides a more uniform fuel/air mixture, thereby causing a more complete and efficient combustion. The overall result of using the device is better gas mileage, increased performance, easier starting, and less pollution. The object of the project work to improve the fuel/air mixture of the fuel injected engines, preventing valves from being burned or eroded by clogged injectors. As a result of forcing the air to enter the intake port in a high velocity swirl, there is disruption of any direct fuel streams upon the head of the cylinder intake valve which occur as a result of clogged injectors. Another object of the project work is to provide a device that improves the homogeneity of the fuel/air mixture delivered by the carburetor to the cylinders of an internal combustion engine with little or no obstruction in the mixture flow resulting in no starving of the engine. Another object to deliver the fuel/air mixture to the center of the cylinder for a uniform flame front. The swirling mixture delivered by the present invention results in cleaner, more-efficient combustion. Read More...

Experimental and Finite Element Analysis of Single-V Groove Butt Weld on Weld Pool Geometry of Aluminium Alloy Plate under Different Joint Parameters
-Sushil Kumar Maurya ; Prof. A. K. JAIN
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Process (GTAW) is widely used in fabrication of Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy material when precision is considered as a prime importance. Deformations in the object undergoing welding are one of the foremost problems encountered in the welding industry. Thus it is often required to study the factors which affect the deformations produced during welding to avoid errors in the geometry. Present investigation highlights Experimental and Finite Element Analysis of a Single-V Groove Butt Weld on Weld Pool Geometry of Aluminium Alloy Plate under Different Joint Parameters.Finite Element Method (FEM) has been employed to do the transient thermal and structural analysis of the assembly. The Finite Element Analysis has been done on ANSYS 14.5 Workbench. Number of factors is liable to produce effects in the job during the welding operation. Aim of this paper is the effect of welding parameters like as welding current, shielding gas flow rate and welding speed with mechanical Properties like tensile strength and hardness. After that finite element analysis for temperature distribution and distribution of the stresses in the welded Aluminium alloy plate. The results show that the larger the Welding current and smaller welding speed will lead to the maximum residual tensile stress. Therefore a residual stress will arise from the restraint position. The ultimate residual stress of weldment is determined by material yield strength at different temperature. The higher yield strength at different temperature has higher material residual stress. Because of its higher thermal conductivity, aluminium alloy test specimens have small temperature differential. Read More...

Supervised Sentiment Classification using DTDP algorithm
-S.Revathi ; B. Nagarajan
Sentiment analysis is the process widely used in all fields and it uses the statistical machine learning approach for text modeling. The primarily used approach is Bag-of-words (BOW). Though, this technique has some limitations in polarity shift problem. Thus, here we propose a new method called Dual sentiment analysis (DSA) which resolves the polarity shift problem. Proposed method involves two approaches such as dual training and dual prediction (DPDT). First, we propose a data expansion technique by creating a reversed review for training data. Second, dual training and dual prediction algorithm is developed for doing analysis on sentiment data. The dual training algorithm is used for learning a sentiment classifier and the dual prediction algorithm is developed for classifying the review by considering two sides of one review. Read More...

A Technical Review Paper on Use of WTO (Waste Transformer Oil)-Diesel Blends With Additives in a Diesel Engine
-Tarun B Patel ; Prof K D Panchal; Dr A S Shah
Pollution from the petroleum oil increases day by day in terms of CO2, CO, NOx, PM and many other gases and particles. Price difference and economy leads people toward the use of alternative fuels. These problems indicate that the initiatives to replace gasoline and diesel fuel, due to the impact of fossil fuel crisis, hike in oil price and stringent emission norms, must be taken. Solution to long term energy problem will come only through research and developments in the field of alternative energy sources. Waste to energy is the recent trend in the selection of alternate fuels. One such fuel is WTO (waste transformer oil), which can be obtained from waste as an alternative fuel. By using WTO as a replacement of Diesel, both the above stated problems can be solved at great extent. From literature review it comes clear Fuels additives have become essential tool not only improve the performance and also produce lower emissions (NOx) of diesel engines. A variety of additives (metal based, oxygenated, antioxidants, lubricity improvers, cetane number improvers, and cold flow improvers) are used in biodiesel fuel to meet the international emission standards. Prime objective of this work is to find out an alternative fuel that can be used as a replacement of diesel and analyses the performance and reduce emission parameters. To fulfill the prime objective, Diesel engine, fuelled with Waste transformer Oil (WTO) - Diesel blends with Additive should be used to be operated at different blend ration with different concentration of Additives. Fuzzy Logic Control Based MIMO DC-DC Boost Converter for Electric Vehicle Application
-Ans Jose ; Absal Nabi; Jubin Eldho Paul
Nowadays the usages of electric vehicles are increased than the fossil fuel vehicles. In the case of electric vehicle which using dc motor has at least two different voltage levels one for ventilation system and cabin lightening and other for supplying electric motor. Here a fuzzy logic based multi input multi output (MIMO) DC-DC boost converter for electric vehicle application is presented, and is compared with the PI based hardware. In this converter the load power can be flexibly distributed between the input sources. The proposed converter has only one inductor with different inputs and outputs. The charging and discharging of energy storages by other input sources can be controlled properly. Depending on the charging and discharging state of the energy storage system two power operating modes are defined for the converter. The validity of the converter and its performance are verified by simulation by using MATLAB/SIMULINK and the results also presented. Read More...
