Interrelationship of City and Waterfront: Assets for Establishing Sustainable Cities
-Prof. Bhavna Vimawala
The Green cities or Smart cities mission intends to promote adoption of solution of efficient use of available assets to enable to give quality of life and sustainable environment. There are innumerable assets and aspects that go in to making of these smart cities. As one of the most essential assets of cities is proximity to their waterfront that manifests distinct relationship between people and natural environment. Cities envision their waterfronts as dynamic destinations for people. The structure of cities is linked to the water bodies that contribute to their beginning and their subsequent development. The relationship between waterfront and city is always changing depending on the functions carried out on adjoining land. The concern here is, structure of the city does not respond to their waterfront in recent development. Thus focus of this study is to understand the waterfront and its relationship to the city in the present Indian context, considering the different stages of the evolution period. The study identifies the factors that establish the relationship and determine how these factors affect the relation. These are; nature of waterfront includes edge condition, water quality and impact of floods. Another aspect is land use components comprising of the functional use and the activity pattern. Further are physical accessibility, visual and interpretive accessibility; the built form along the waterfront and response of people. This study determines the reasons that affect in establishing the interrelation are; limitation in implementation of policies; lack of initial decision in planning and uncontrolled development; unhygienic condition of the water bodies due to pollution and frequent flooding. This study brings forth alarming situations and provides recommendations to the critical issues to be taken care of; to create inseparable relationship between city and waterfront. These thoughts can serve as the framework for any waterfront seeking to establish interrelation and it can positively contribute to bridge the gap while considering the holistic approach where the relation between city and waterfront can strongly be improved and re-established to achieve sustainable cities. A Survey on Text Segmentation Methods for Digital Images
-Vikas V Sonwane ; Prof. N.M.Shahane
Images are important information carriers which are often used in email messages and web pages to attach textual information. In Born digital compound image (BDCI) text and graphics/pictures come together on digital devices having certain distinct characteristics like low resolution (easy for online transmission and to display on screen) and text is created digitally on image. Text from BDCI can be effectively adopted for large number of applications likes to retrieve contents of web, to improve indexing, to enhance content accessibility and content filtering. There are several problems to distinguish texts from BDCI because, text appears in various styles (i.e. Orientation, size, and color), some neighbor texts are connected, and some text characters are superimposed on pictorial region which may lead to misclassification. Although researchers have proposed many methods in which character-level and block-based objects are commonly assumed to separate text from compound images. But these methods failed to extract reliable features to detect all texts as well as to identify connected components. Some recent methods based on distribution of pixel variations and image activity measures can able to precisely segment textual regions from BDCI. Read More...

-Roopa R. Navalli ; Vignesh Shanbhag; Nikhil R; Ganesh R. Chate; Vinay M. Murgod
Abstract— Sheet metal is simply metal formed into thin and flat pieces. It is one of the fundamental forms used in metalworking and can be cut and bent into a variety of different shapes. Countless everyday objects are constructed with sheet metal. Thicknesses can vary significantly; extremely thin thicknesses are considered foil or leaf, and pieces thicker than 6 mm (0.25 in) are considered plate. Embossing and debossing are similar processes that create a different result. Both processes involve making a metal plate and counter. The plate is mounted on a press and the paper is stamped between the plate and counter. This force of pressure pushes the stock into the plate creating the impression. Embossing creates a raised impression on stock – pushes the image above the level of the paper. Debossing is the reverse of embossing. Debossing creates a depressed impression on stock – pushes the image below the level of the paper. Read More...

An Algorithm to Conserve Confidentiality Using Anti-Discrimination Method in Data Mining
-Patel Shraddhaben Mukeshbhai ; Hiral Darji
Data mining is increasing important technology. In Data mining, collection of large amount data is hidden. This technology is used for extracting useful knowledge hidden from large collection of data. The main two issues in data mining are privacy violation and discrimination. This technique is used in data mining for decision making in various classification. In real life observation, the majority people do not want to be discriminated base on their gender, nationality, religion, age and so on. This types of attributes is used for decision making purpose such as giving job, loan, insurance etc. so that discrimination issue is arise. For that reason to find such attributes and deleting them from training data without affecting their decision making utility important. Discrimination is two types’ direct discrimination and indirect discrimination. Direct discrimination occur when decision making utility is based on some sensitive attributes like race, religion, gender etc. Indirect discrimination occurs when decision making utility is based on non-sensitive attributes which are related to sensitive attributes. There are many new method propose for solving discrimination prevention problem by applying direct or indirect prevention one by one or both at same time. We discuss about how to clean training data sets and out sourced data sets in such way that direct and/or indirect discriminatory rules are converted to non-discriminatory rule. The propose system prevent the discrimination without affecting the data quality. In this paper, we mainly focus on anti-discrimination or hybrid approach (preferential sampling and direct and indirect discrimination) which helps to detect and prevent discrimination Read More...

An Experimental Study on Rock Flour Fly ash of Bentonite
-D.Anitha ; D.Padma Roja
Most countries with arid and semi-arid climate will have problems with expansive soils such as cracking and breaking up of pavements, lightly loaded structures, canal liners etc., by consolidating under the load and by changing volumetrically along with seasonal moisture variation. These expansive soils in India are available in the form of Bentonite deposits. Bentonite is highly plastic thixotropic clay rich in Montimorillonite clay mineral. Bentonite is well known for its suitability as molding material in pottering and utensils, drilling mud to support the vertical sides of bore holes, and in grouting technology. Despite several favorable properties of Bentonite for the above presence which exhibit large volume changes upon wetting and drying due to the presence of Montimorillonite clay mineral with expandable lattice structures. In view of huge cyclic volumetric changes, these deposits are discouraged for construction activity. However, when it is inevitable to construct structures or run a highway, a canal or a pipeline in these deposits, suitable remedial techniques to combat the damages caused by them are to be adopted. Damages caused by expansive soils are controlled by proper application of stabilization agents like Fly Ash and Rock Flour will be added to Bentonite. In the present work, attempts were made to study the influence of Rock Flour and Fly Ash when mixed with Bentonite in reducing the expansive nature. For this purpose, Rock Flour and Fly Ash in different proportions by weight of Bentonite is mixed with Bentonite and the geotechnical properties of these mixes were Found. The results indicate that the plasticity properties of Bentonite were significantly modified upon the addition of Rock Flour and Fly Ash & they noticeably influence of Compaction, Strength, Swell and Consolidation properties of Bentonite soil. A Study on Strength and Behaviour of Exterior Beam-Column Joint by using SCC and SFRSCC
-Vasagade Ramdas B. ; Prof. Dr. D.N.Shinde
The beam-column joint is one of the most critical section in the design and construction of the structure. In these areas, a high percentage of transverse hoops in the core of the joint are needed in order to meet the requirement of strength, stiffness and ductility factor under cyclic inelastic flexure loading. The beam column joint subjected to cyclic loading require great care in detailing. Diagonal tension cracking is one of the main causes of failure of joint. The satisfactory performance of a beam column joint depends strongly on the lateral confinement of joint. The present study deals with the non-conventional reinforcement detailing of the beam column joint that provides inclined bars on the two faces of the joint core. The performance of beam column joint has been a research topic for many years. The anchorage length requirements for beam and column bars, the provision of transverse reinforcement, the design and detailing of the joint are the main issues. Several researches have reported their test results using SFRC in framed beam column joints. All these tests have shown the effectiveness of using steel fibers to increase the joint strength, ductility and the energy absorption capacity. Provision of high percentage of hoops leads to congestion of steel leading to construction difficulties. These difficulties can be removed by using self-compacting concrete (SCC). Read More...

According to previous research work exhibiting desirable properties including orientation selectivity or spatial locality in the face recognition system has found as the major change in the face images, Neural Networks have suffering from limited shortcomings which imbalanced crucially characteristics and Neural Network helps to size representation of a given face pattern, therefore among these shortcomings may match to the fact. However, various filters are not orthogonal in specified order for all and one to another for attained the correlated probability. This makes more suitable information which contained in the Neural Network face representation redundant as well as affects the size of face representation where to overcome problem. In this review paper, we have reviewed problem and related techniques to deploy illumination of light in the face images as it employ to various combination in face representation. Read More...

LDA Hash Tagging Approach for Friend Recommendation in Micro blogging System
-Sumit Mirase ; Prof. N.P.Kulkarni
Because of the developing ubiquity and small frame the Microblogging is turning into people's most attractive choice for seeking the information and expressing opinions. Messages got by a user mainly rely on whom user follows. Therefore, recommending user with related interest may enhance the experience quality for information receiving. Since messages posted by Microblogging users reflect their hobbies or interest and the essential keywords in the messages show their primary focus to a huge extent, we can find users' preferences by investigating the user generated contents. Besides, user's hobbies, interest are not static; despite what might be required, they change as time proceeds by. In light of such instincts, we proposed a temporal-topic to analyze user's possible behavior’s and predict their potential friends in Microblogging. The model takes into users’ latent preferences by extracting keywords from aggregated messages over a stretch of time using a topic model, and after that, the effect of time is considered to deal interest. Avoidance Of Indoor Jammer using Instance Belated Diffusion
-Saravanan.C
Wireless communication is exposed to signal jamming attacks. Spread spectrum mitigates such problem by scattering narrowband signals over an much wider band frequencies and forcing jammers. In broadcast systems, jammers can easily find out the spread pattern by some receivers. In most wireless networks, nodes can only be limited local information about the state of the network. Wireless networks have the characteristics of broadcast, which brings the nuisance for illegal users to interfere the network or even attack the network. Therefore a series of network problems arise. The open nature of wireless network leaves it to malicious threats. We address the problem of jamming-resistant broadcast communications. For a jamming scene with one transmitter, one receiver and a jammer In the literatures of both eavesdropping and jammer, the threats are caused by the single malicious jammer. In a supplementary analysis, the transmitter and the malicious jammer relay can select the appropriate rate to send signals to increase or reduce the secrecy rate. Wireless networks enable a wealth of commercial, tactical and social applications ranging from single point to point voice communications, information retrieval, monetary transactions, environment monitoring, social networking, navigation and jamming. Many of these applications target users who access the numerous network services via their devices. We propose time-delayed broadcast scheme (TDBS) which makes the broadcast in an unicast communication series. Each node follows an unique pseudo-noise (PN) frequency hopping sequence. We map the problem of constructing PN sequences to the 1-factorization problem for complete graphs. We also accommodate dynamic broadcast groups by mapping the updating the assigned PN sequences.
