-Sandeep.Y.M ; R.D.Satyanarayana Rao; T.R.Narasimhegowda; Sudheer.R
This paper presents the analysis of power factor effect on 66 KV transmission lines (SFC-1, SFC-2, FTS, FTS-3) from Vajamangala 220/66/11 station based on 2014 yearly data. Power factor plays an important role in the electrical power system, especially in the transmission and distribution side. Power factor is low in some-months of the year in these four 66 kV transmission lines. Especially power factor is poor in SFC-1 line, almost throughout the year 2014. So this line is a major concern. The distance of SFC-1 and SFC-2 lines from Shivanasamudra generating station to Vajamangala 220/66/11 station is approximately 50 KMs. Power factor in these transmission lines reduces drastically in an unusual way during sometimes in a year 2014. Optimum solution is obtained through proper analysis based on 2014 yearly collected data from the Karnataka Power Transmission and Corporation Limited (KPTCL). Read More...

Voltage Control of a Three Level Boost Converter and NPC Inverter for High Power Energy Conversion Systems
-C.Sarathkumar ; S.Raja
In this paper, a new medium voltage power converter topology using a diode rectifier, three-level boost converter and neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverter is proposed for a high-power permanent magnet synchronous generator-based wind energy conversion system. A significant improvement in the grid power quality is accomplished as the NPC inverter no longer controls the dc-link neutral point voltage. A model control strategy is proposed to control the complete system where the discrete-time models of the proposed power electronic converters are used to predict the future behavior of control variables. These predictions are evaluated using two independent cost functions, and the switching states which minimize these cost functions are selected and applied to the generator- and grid-side converters directly. In order to comply with the high-power application, the switching frequencies of the BOOST converter and NPC inverter are minimized and maintained below 1.5 and 1 kHz, respectively. Read More...

Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning System Energy Cost Optimization by Using Building Management System
-Sandesh Hegde ; Dr. Ramachandra C G
Heating, ventilation and air conditioning will carries the major portion of the total money spent by any company on the energy. Even small adjustments to the HVAC systems will improve the building internal comfort condition and can result energy savings, hence we can save money. Improvement of the energy efficiency will benefit in profitability of the organization. HVAC System is more frequently applied in industrial facilities in living compounds and offices. The fully automatic control of these systems is impossible to avoid while going to save the energy consumed by the system. Basic parameter of air that needs to be monitored and regulated is temperature. The inside air temperature depends on the outside air temperature, mechanical Infrastructure and occupancy in the zone. For this reason it is necessary to produce a control technique capable of monitoring and controlling the temperature. By using the signals given by the sensing elements such as sensors, control system will perform full automatic control of HVAC system by comparing the current temperature with temperature defined in the Building Management system hence regulate the flow of chilled air into the zone by adjusting the Variable air volume throttle which acts as a gateway to the chilled air into the specified zone. Hence we can maintain desired comfort level inside the building. The zone control will allows user to maintain different temperature in different zone. Hence can save chilled air flow into the building, which will result in less load on chiller. Hence we can some amount of energy which consumed by the chiller, so we can reduce the cost which is spent on the energy. Read More...

Soft Start of an Induction Motor with Reduction in Torque Pulsations during Starting
-Shweta V. Muttagi ; Dr. M S Aspalli
This project deals with the thyristorised soft starting of 3 phase Induction Motor. Three phase induction motors of ratings beyond 50KW when started directly from a 3 phase supply draws 3 to 5 times the rated current and starting torque can be 2 times larger than in the normal operation. These high starting current will cause overheating of the windings and a large voltage drop and influence the normal operation of the motor when connected to the main power supply. Large starting torque pulsations may cause severe mechanical stress on the shaft of the motor and the load. So it is necessary to control motor starting current value. Solid state starters or Soft Starters are designed to control such starting current of the motor. Soft starter is done by connecting SCR s in antiparallel in each phase. The voltage to the stator terminals can be controlled by varying the conduction period of thyristors. The high starting current can be considerably reduced by soft start, thereby the electrical and mechanical stress on the motor can be minimized. Energy saving during starting can also be achieved and hence losses can also be minimized. The soft starter is developed for 3 Phase, 440V, 50Hz 1HP induction motor and is tested in laboratory. The starting current of the induction motor with and without soft starter are observed and tabulated. It is observed that the starting high inrush current is reduced to 30 to 50% of its rated value thus minimizing the starting torque pulsations and increasing the life of the motor. Read More...

Banking Encryption Security Technology
-Yash Sharma ; Daryl Thomas; Pritish Sawant; Vivek Shete
The increase in the number of banks and their customers has resulted into a bigger database as well as additional requirement of security for the database. Moreover, use of online banking, loans and transactions involving large amount of money has increased a lot. The security issues has therefore increased. With increase in the number of frauds, it has become important for banks to have a safe and secure method to keep a tab on the user, their transactions as well as curb the amount of frauds in various transactions. The proposed system implements the three basic attributes of a human body which cannot be hacked into. The system BEST an acronym of Bank Encryption Security Technology uses the retina scan module, finger print module and voice enabled password. All the three have been used individually but BEST combines all the technology in one system and generates a user specific code. The code is an encrypted form of the three data that was collected. The code generation algorithm samples out the various values from the three attributes of the user and forms a code or a password which is unique to a person. The same password should then be said vocally so that a double verification can be performed. The above technology can be implemented using a database, but it becomes very difficult to handle and store databases of large number of customers. So the code will work real time. During the registration of a customer all the three values will be recorded and a code will be generated which will be attached to the customer’s account. When the customer wants to make large transactions either in the form of cheque or online payment, his finger print, retina image and vocal password will be recorded and the software will generate a code. Since the user being registered in the bank, the generated code will match the code that is attached to his account. In this way the user will be authenticated to use his account and make transactions. Read More...

A Novel Approach towards Database Exploration using Collaborative Filtering
-Ms. Kiran Suresh Sutar ; Mr. Hemant A. Tirmare
Recommender systems play an important role in today’s applications which need to satisfy diverse user needs. Recommendation systems are widely used in web applications, e.g. online book shop, movie recommendation etc. It also plays an important role in the field of database systems, where users retrieve interesting information from database by submitting SQL queries. In this case such a system suggests potentially useful queries to the user. In this paper we have presented a system which follows collaborative filtering technique. We have converted the queries submitted by user into general form which is suitable for further calculations. Our system maintains sessions of users. Session is nothing but sequence of queries submitted by the user. We first determines the past session which is similar to current user session, and subsequently use queries in that session to give recommendations. Read More...

Image compression using Weighted Average and Least Significant Bit Elimination Approach
-S. Subbulakshmi ; Ezhilarasi Kanagasabai
Image compression plays a very vital role in the transmission and storage of image information. The main aim of image compression is to represent an image in the smallest number of bits without losing the essential information content contained by an original image. The image compression techniques are used to trim down the file size. The Proposed method for image compression uses Outline detection, wavelet encoding and bit plane encoding. The outline detection is accomplished by determining the maximum gradient value of a pixel from its three adjacent pixels. Wavelet encoding is a weighted averaging and differencing scheme. Bit Plane Encoding uses the data as sets of significant bits: the most significant bit of each piece of data forms the first “bit planeâ€, the second most significant bit of each item forms the second bit plane, and so on. It allows the user to determine the quality of the compressed image during the compression process. Read More...

Privacy Preserving and Efficient Accessing Cloud Resources
-K Gopichand ; R Kannadasan; A Anantha
In recent days cloud computing is an emerging technology in terms of economy, as data owners are motivated to move their valuable data systems from local machines to commercial public cloud. But the security and sensitivity of the data should be preserved before outsourcing to public cloud. The data should be encrypted before outsourcing it in to the cloud, which needs to overcome the traditional way of data retrieval methods based on plain text keyword search. While dealing with large number of data users and files in cloud environment, it is necessary to consider efficient searching mechanism for better retrieval of data from cloud. Multi keyword query is an efficient data retrieval technique. In this proposed work we are using secure multi keyword search on encrypted cloud data and preserve the strict privacy policies. Coordinate matching and inner product similarity is used to query the keywords. Ranking of keywords is done for most frequently used search results. Read More...

-Varsha Popat Nalawade ; Prerana Shrinivas Gursale; Anuja Shankar Katkar; Sanjana Achyut Kalekar; Namrata Shrinivas Gursale
With astonishing growth in internet, most of the digital data is shared among large group of users. This demands the relational database (RDB) rights protection. To address these features, the Watermarking scheme must be able to meet the requirements such as 1.Minimum distortion in database. 2. Knowledge preservation. 3. Robustness against collusion attack. 4. Should not violate the requirement of blind decoding. The proposed Watermarking scheme focuses on all these provisions. The results of experiments prove that the proposed scheme achieves 100 percent decoding accuracy even if only one Watermark tuple is left in the database. Read More...

Web Scraping (Extraction of Deep Web Page Content)
-Santosh G N ; S. Lokesh
Extracting useful information from the web is the most significant issue of concern for the realization of semantic web. This may be achieved by several ways among which Web Usage Mining, Web Scrapping and Semantic Annotation plays an important role. Web mining enables to find out the relevant results from the web and is used to extract meaningful information from the discovery patterns kept back in the servers. Web usage mining is a type of web mining which mines the information of access routes/manners of users visiting the websites. Web scraping, another technique, is a process of extracting useful information from HTML pages. The content is presented in a human-readable layout and is not intended to be processed by automatic systems. Therefore, it is necessary to separate the content in a web forum discussion from the layout before doing any further information mining. In this paper, explore and discuss some information extraction techniques on web like web usage mining, web scrapping for a better or efficient information extraction on the web illustrated with examples Read More...

Road Safety Using Android Based Smartphone
-Shubhangi Pargaonkar ; Diksha Jawalkar; Shivani Sangle; Reshma Chate
Past few years, almost the whole world has seen a tremendous growth in the accidents occurring on roads. Developed and developing countries all around the world and mainly India has experienced increasing number of injuries and deaths due to unawareness of road conditions, unhealthy driving behaviours and increasing traffic. We cannot ignore the important contribution of science made in road safety by introducing advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), warning systems, in-vehicle information systems (IVIS) and other such safety systems for minimizing occurring road hazards. Yet existing and new innovations feel the need of more improvements for tackling the road anomalies. Mobile devices or say mobile phones are found to be one of the reasons for road accidents, but in this paper we wish to present a multi-purpose Smartphone as an innovative remedy for preventing road accidents. Most of the safety systems that have been developed are formed by studying different accidental situations after they have occurred. By using a Smartphone mobile device, working on android, we try to provide a pictorial representation of road conditions with different road anomalies on routes shown by Google map. By implementing such an idea we try to make the vehicle operator aware of safe driving behaviours and different road problems on routes to be travelled. Read More...

Analysis and Simulation of Two Different Topologies of Three Phase Cascaded Inverter Fed Induction Motor Drive
-Rekha N ; K.R.Mohan; K.M.Kavitha
The main objective of this paper is to control the speed of an induction motor by using five level Cascaded H-Bridge multilevel inverter to obtain high quality sinusoidal output voltage with reducedharmonics. An open loop speed control can be achieved by changing switching frequency. Two topologies of cascaded multilevel inverter have been proposed. 1st topology requires separate DC sources and the 2nd topology requires only a single DC power source, capacitors. The inverters with a large number of stepscan generate high quality voltage waveforms. The higher levels can follow a voltage reference with accuracy and with the advantage that the generated voltage can be modulated in amplitude instead of pulse-width modulation. The simulation results shows that the proposed topologies effectively controls the motor speed through reduction in total harmonic distortion(THD).The simulation of three phase five level inverter fed induction motor model is done using Matlab/Simulink. The performance of MLI is also compared with conventional inverter in terms of THD. The FFT spectrums for the outputs are analyzed to study the reduction in the harmonics. Read More...

Human Gesture Recognition for Def and Dumb People
-Sandhya Jayram Shinde ; Sandhya Jayram Shinde; Prajakta Dilip Shukla; Ashwini Ramchandra Vhanmane; Shailesh Thaware
The purpose of this work is to help deaf and dumb people, who use sign language to communicate with outside world. This work will help these people to overcome this barrier. It will aim at extracting rotation, scale, translation invariant features for robust understanding of gesture. Gestures is the only language through which a deaf and dumb speaks. With the social perspective we are contributing to the technology so that they will be able to communicate more efficiently with sound people. For previously designed systems there are many constraints for scale, distance and rotation. Invariance of geometric transformations such as scale, rotation and translation are key requirements for practical usage of visual descriptors in the application like sign language recognition system which we propose to build. For the classification we are using a Fuzzy C means algorithm. Read More...

-Jyotsna Sagar ; Prof. Kamal Niwaria
The Smart antenna systems plays an important role in wireless communications systems. This paper begins with a brief introduction about a smart antenna and majorly in this paper different type of DOA algorithms. Direction-of-Arrival (DOA) estimation plays a significant role in several applications. Beamforming is that the most prominent technique to estimate DOA. During this survey, a study of varied beamforming techniques and algorithms to estimate the direction of arrival of a signal is formed. An assessment on the background sturdy algorithms using Nyquist rate and its Compressive sensing different is completed. It’s famed that Bearing estimation algorithms acquire only a small number of direction of arrivals (DOAs) among the entire angle domain, once the sources are spatially distributed. Hence, it should be ended that, the ways those specifically exploits this spatial sparsely property is advantageous. These ways use a very small variety of measurements within the form of random projections of the sensing element knowledge beside one full wave form recording at one amongst the sensors. Read More...
