Design and Optimization of Heat Exchanger with Liquid Helium Chamber for Cooling of Supercritical Helium
-Hardik K Vaghasia ; A. K. Sahu; J. M. Patel
The Proposed indigenous helium plant will have mixed mode operation (simultaneous operation as liquefier and as refrigerator) provision having equivalent 2 KW refrigeration at 4.5 K at IPR. there will be a liquid helium chamber will contain a heat exchanger to cool the supercritical helium from about 6 K to 4.8 K. this project will involve the design and optimization of this LHE chamber and internal component of it.this vacuum chamber of cold box will be a horizontal cylinder with tentative diameter of 2.5 m and length 7 m. This vacuum chamber will contain many cold component to produce liquid helium. A part of the flow will be taken to the LHe chamber though J-T valve to produce liquid helium and cool the supercritical helium coming out of the cold circulator using heat exchanger. This cold circulator (CC) will circulate helium in closed loop within the cold box. This CC will provide 300 g/s supercritical helium flow at 4 bar pressure and 6 K temperature. The heat energy going to the supercritical helium due to pumping work and external heat load of the CC need to be removed by heat exchanger contained in liquid helium chamber. The vapour from the chamber will return to the low pressure cold return line passing though the heat exchanger of the main cycle of the helium plant. As this chamber will be within the vacuum vessel, its size has to be minimized considering the size of the heat requirement of operation of helium plant when external helium Dewar is not available, in which this internal LHe chamber will be used to produce liquid helium for performance test of helium plant. This project will involve design and analysis taking into account of manufacturing assembly and maintained aspect and different off-normal condition. Read More...

Node localization that to be aware of the position of nodes is an essential part of wireless sensor network. One of the major requirement of localization in WSN is accuracy of location. The aim of this paper is to reduce error in location estimation and convergence speed in two dimensional coordinate system. The proposed 2DL-RAGA in this paper is range based and anchor based algorithm. Initial step of algorithm is optimal placement of anchor nodes by using k-means and then encodes the sensor node in real coding. Fitness function is designed based on distances between anchor and non-anchor nodes. The Uniform crossover and improved neighborhood mutation operator are applied. Simulation result shows that the two dimensional (2DL-RAGA) algorithm shows less average error than previous algorithm and algorithm shows faster convergence. Read More...

Design and Optimization of Helical Gear for Bending Strength
-Dipeshkumar N. Patel ; R.G.Jivani; J.R.Koisha; R.C.Sanghvi
Gearing is one of the most effective methods for transmitting power and rotary motion from the source to its application with or without change of speed or direction. Gears are mostly used to transmit torque and angular velocity from one shaft to another shaft. The method of optimum design is effective in the field of gear research to determine the optimum gear parameters for satisfactory design. In gear design, number of parameters is involved. The gear design also requires an iterative approach to optimize the gear parameters. From the calculation of existing design data given by the company, it can be seen that the bending stresses in the last pair of gearbox is not within permissible limit. So in this dissertation the bending strength of Helical gear is to be maximized for fixed center distance and fixed weight of gearbox, and also fulfilling the certain necessary requirements. Due to the complexity of the problem, it is complicated and time consuming to optimize the design manually. Hence in this dissertation, MATLAB optimization program (Genetic Algorithm) is used for determining the best possible combination of gear parameters and comparison of this result is made with ANSYS results. A Survey Paper on Compact Coradiator UWB-MIMO Antenna with Dual Polarization
-Taranjeet Kaur ; Rohit Dindha
Two compact coradiator multiple-input–multiple-out (MIMO) antennas operating in the UWB frequency band with dual polarization are proposed. Different from traditional MIMO antennas, the radiator is shared by two antenna elements, which greatly reduce the overall size of the MIMO system. High isolation between the two antenna elements is achieved by etching a T-shaped slot in the radiator and extending a stub on the ground. Dual polarization can be realized by exciting the pentagonal radiator with perpendicular feeding structure. The simulated results of current and electric-field distribution show the dual-polarization characteristics of the diversity system. The objective of this paper is to design the UWB-MIMO antenna with DGS structure and then compare the performance parameters. Read More...

Grid Power Quality Improvement in Wind Energy System using STATCOM Combined with BESS
-Amitkumar R. Verma ; Prof. P. L. Kamani; Prof. (Mrs.) R. R. Kapadia
The sources such as wind power and solar power are expected to be promising energy sources when it is connected to the power grid. The wind generators have a significant impact on the power quality, voltage profile and the power flow for customers and electricity suppliers. The power exhausted from above energy sources varies due to environmental conditions. Due to the fluctuation in nature of the wind, the wind power injection into an electric grid affects the power quality. The influence of the wind sources in the grid system concerns the power quality such as the reactive power, active power, voltage variation, harmonics and electrical behaviour in switching operation[1]. At the point of common coupling a Static Synchronous Compensator with Battery Energy Storage System-STATCOM/BESS, can regulate four-quadrant active and reactive power, which is an ideal scheme to solve problems of wind power generation. As the power from wind generation varies with time so the battery energy storage used to maintain constant real power comprehensively from varying wind power. The power generated through wind generator can be stored in the batteries at low power demand hours[2-4]. The combination of battery storage with wind energy generation system will synthesize the output waveform by absorbing or injecting reactive power and enable the real power flow required by the load. The control strategy can coordinate charge or discharge of batteries with reactive power compensation of STATCOM, and balance the batteries capacity. If required, amount of energy consumed or given to the grid can be observed through an online smart meter connected in the circuit. Read More...

Performance Enhancement of Channel Estimation in MIMO-OFDM for LTE downlink systems
-Kunjesh S. Patel ; Hitesh L. Desai
The main purpose of this paper is to study the performance of two linear channel estimators for LTE Downlink systems, the Least Square Error (LSE) and the Linear Minimum Mean Square Error (LMMSE). LTE is a MIMO-OFDM based system and cyclic prefix is inserted at the beginning of each transmitted OFDM symbol in order to completely suppress both inter-carrier interference (ICI) and inter-symbol interference (ISI). Usually, the cyclic prefix is equal to or longer than the channel length but in some cases and because of some unforeseen channel behavior, the cyclic prefix can be shorter. Therefore, we propose to study the performance of the two linear estimators under the effect of the channel length. Computer simulations show that, in the case where the cyclic prefix is equal to or longer than the channel length, LMMSE performs better than LSE but at the cost of computational complexity. In the other case, LMMSE continue to improve its performance only for low SNR values but it degrades for high SNR values in which LS shows better performance for LTE Downlink systems. MATLAB Monte – Carlo simulations are used to evaluate the performance of the studied estimators in terms of Mean Square Error (MSE) and Bit Error Rate (BER) for 2x2 LTE Downlink systems. Read More...

Mobility Aware Broadcast Routing Mechanism in VANET
-Jay Panchal ; Hitesh Patel
From several past decades message (information) dissemination using broadcasting has been emerging subject of research in vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) field. Broadcasting is the most popular technique for emergency information message transmission from one vehicle to another vehicle by means of inter-vehicular communication. VANETs does not have physical backbone to transmitting the message but the concept of virtual backbone in mobile ad-hoc network is applicable to VANET environment. Virtual backbone can be created by constructing dominating set using any vehicle selection strategy and then applying selective vehicles to broadcast information message. Even though reducing the size of broadcasting node there still problem of broadcast storm and flooding problem in the VENET network. This paper proposes to reduce the problem of broadcast storming problem in VANET environment using probabilistic selection approach by selecting a single node from dominating set there by reducing rebroadcast node and applying dynamic broadcasting interval to enhance reliability of VANTE. We implement and compare our proposed scheme with standard existing approach of connected dominating set(CDS) as well as navigation route based minimum dominating set algorithm(NRMDS). Comparing simulation results to standard approaches shows that proposed scheme has a significant batter performance in terms of packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay as well as reducing network overhead. Development of PLC Based Control System for Automatic Shearing Machine
-Saransh Sahai
Our everyday life comprises of an endless list of commodities and products which are made up of metal or metallic components. Metal is used in a wide range application from house wiring to the transport facilities that we use every day. Of all these day-to-day goods, the use of metallic sheets is proportionally high. The examples of their use include our kitchens, bathrooms, drawing rooms, study rooms, furniture, decoration, doors etc. To mold these sheets as per the requirement of the individual product requires skill and to put this skill to use, some machinery is required. There is a wide range of machinery used to mold these materials; change their shape, dimensions, surface finish etc. In order to put them through these changes, they are required to be cut to the exact dimensions as per application. A Shearing Machine is used for this purpose. The machine is a mechanical arrangement so as to provide mechanical advantage and reduce effort of the operator in cutting the sheets. Adjusting the machine for cutting a particular thickness of sheet is a tedious task and prone to error which results in job defects. So, a solution is required to overcome this issue. We hereby propose to build a PLC Based Control System for such an Automatic Shearing Machine. Use of PC based automation is not required for this application as it do not require intense calculations and complexity. So, we suggest going for PLC based automation for the same. This will reduce the number of control components thus reducing the data interaction time. After implementation, the results obtained are – the cycle time of the entire process is reduced; the system boots in 14 seconds, setting time is as low as 4 seconds and as high as 6 seconds as compared to 12 seconds in the earlier configuration. The HMI has been provided with the functions useful for the current configuration of the machine and thus is more acceptable to the operator as it creates lesser confusion. The cost of the new control components configuration is 40.56% of the cost of previous configuration. Read More...

Synchronous Rectification Controller for Boosting up the Efficiency of a Flyback Converter
-Kavya B S ; Sudharani Potturi
In low output voltage power converters, the efficiency is mainly affected due to the voltage drop of a diode. One of the best solution is to replace this diode with a synchronous rectifier. Synchronous rectification (SR) is the technique for boosting up the efficiency of rectification by replacing the diode with actively controlled power MOSFET switch. In this paper, an effective approach for controlling the SR MOSFET of the flyback converter using SR controller is presented. The negative voltage across the output due to overlapping of the primary and secondary switches can be removed by using SR controller. Also SR controller assures reliable turn-on and turn-off of the SR MOSFET and reduces the cross conduction loss between the primary side MOSFET and secondary synchronous rectification MOSFET, thus higher efficiency can be achieved. The response of the SR controller is evaluated by simulating a 50-W flyback converter using MATLAB/ SIMULINK. Read More...

A Scheduling Policy with Low Complexity that Can Perform Optimally in terms of Delay and Can Achieve Throughput Optimally in 4G Wireless Networks
-Arun.C.M ; N.Rajesh
In this paper, our goal is to develop a scheduling policy for downlink of a multichannel wireless networks (e.g. OFDM based networks). We focus on single-cell with the aim developing a scheduling policy that can perform optimally in terms of delay and throughput with low complexity. Before designing our scheduling policy we make some assumptions on arrival process and develop some sufficient conditions for delay optimal and throughput optimality. Our sufficient conditions allow us to prove that Oldest Packet First (OPF) policies are delay optimal and Maximum Weight in Fluid Limit (MWF) policies are throughput optimal. By carefully combining the policies from the class of oldest packet first and maximum weight in fluid limit policies and by exploring special features of our sufficient conditions, we develop a new hybrid policy which can achieve optimal throughput and optimally perform in terms of delay with low complexity of O (n¼ log n) where ‘n’ is number of users or channels in the system. -Bhavsar Palak F. ; Shilpa Serasiya
Operating system scheduling is designed for allocation of available processes to the CPU resources. Efficiency of CPU Scheduler depends on the design of the high quality scheduling algorithm which suits the scheduling goals. The main goal of scheduling algorithm is to maximize CPU utilization and throughput along with minimizing turnaround time, waiting time and number of context switching for a set of requests. There are some popular CPU scheduling algorithms available which are FCFS, SFJ, Priority scheduling and RR. Among all of them Round Robin being the most popular choice, but it is not able to give us the better reading of turnaround time and waiting time. So, this article is about improving performance of scheduling algorithm in terms of turnaround time, waiting time and number of context switching by adapting the method of Round Robin algorithm. The performance of Adaptive Round Robin algorithm is compared with RR, using CPU Scheduling Simulator which is developed using Java and Java Swing. Read More...

A Review of India Centric Studies on Factors Causing Time Overruns In Execution of Construction Projects
-Dr. Swapnil Wanjari ; Bhalchandra Tankkar
The construction project process can be divided into three main stages, i.e. project conception stage, project design stage and project construction stage. Generally, most of the project delays take place during the actual construction period, where many unanticipated factors are constantly implicated. In construction, delay may be defined as the time overrun either beyond completion date specified in a contract, or beyond the date that the parties agreed upon for the delivery of a project. There number of construction projects facing widespread delays has increased resulting into excess expenditure and consequent loss of other resources. The intention of this study is to review and identify the applicability of past studies on determining the factors causing time overrun in ongoing construction projects. This paper examines seven India centric studies which have surveyed the delay factors and classified them into groups or categories, done by various researches and agencies in the past decade. The focal point of this paper is to review research which has categorized the causes responsible for time overruns in projects. This review paper attempts to give a restructured compilation of the earlier studies on ranking of the factors causing time overruns, which though not similar, have certain recurrent factors emerging in nearly all the studies thereby indicating the need to address them by devising mitigation measures. Lead time Reduction of Casting Process using Lean Principles
-Hari priya G ; Dr.H.Ramakrishna; Y. Sundara Rajalu
Lean manufacturing is often seen as a set of tools that reduce the total cost and improve the quality of manufactured products. The lean management philosophy is one which targets waste reduction in every facet of the manufacturing business; however, only recently have studies linked lean management philosophies with improving environmental sustainability. These studies suggest that lean manufacturing is more than a set of lean tools that can optimize manufacturing efficiencies; it is a process and mindset that needs to be integrated into daily manufacturing systems to achieve sustainability. The foundry industry, as well as manufacturing in general, has significant challenges in the current regulatory and political climate with developing an economically and environmentally sustainable business model. Lean manufacturing has proven itself as a model for both economic sustainability and environmental stewardship. Several recent studies have shown that both lean and green techniques and “zero-waste†policies also lead to reductions in overall cost. This paper reviews the literature and some of the lean principles such as the Value Stream Mapping and Waste elimination by implementing 5S in the organization. This paper also aims at reducing lead time by eliminating stress relieving cycle with extended cooling of castings in the mould and stabilize the sand casting process by rationalization of the material grades. Design of Evener Beam for Lifting Plates
-Milan Virani ; Prof. P.M. Agrawal; Dr. P.M. George
Boom or tower type crane consist hook facility to lift or move material and it is more flexibility than simple beam type horizontally established gantry crane. In this crane, beam is lifted by means of wire rope, link or chain to the distal end of boom and material can be lift by means of wire rope with lifting point. Beam is directly suspended using wire ropes and its move by boom crane. Wire ropes are fitted with lugs which are directly welded to the horizontally suspended beam for lifting material or objects. Generally, Beams are used to move slender materials specifically say slender plate as one industry application. Slender plate type objects are flexible in nature so, it may be sag or bend during a time of lifting because of only two lifting lug are generally used. Moreover, fixed size of beam is used for a single application of lifting plate so; this is a limitation of a beam, and in major cases it requires changing as application changes. On the other hand, due to two lifting point on a beam plate may be band or sag so it’s require to solve two problem simultaneously. Also it is not solution to simply weld more number of lifting points say lug to beam, but need of specific and optimum design is requirement which is detail describe in this paper. Read More...

Source Location Privacy Preserving of Sensor Nodes using a Tree based Routing Technology for Increasing Network Lifetime in Wireless Sensor Networks
-Rakesh S.Biradar ; Atif Afzal .J
In sensor networks, location plays a vital role during communication between the sensor nodes. Preserving security on location of Sensor nodes plays important role for preventing the node duplication attack. Sharing the location of sensor nodes with each other requires the nodes to be active and alive that is they have enough energy to communicate. Over the past few years researchers have been involved in conserving energy by designing and proposing techniques that consume less energy for location sharing. However, one critical challenge to WSNs implementation is source location privacy. In this project, we propose a novel tree-based diversionary routing scheme for preserving. The proposed scheme is able to maximize the network lifetime of WSNs. We propose quadrant based approach to preserver source location privacy using hide and seek strategy to create diversionary or decoy routes along the path to the sink from the real source, where the end of each diversionary route is a decoy (fake source node), which periodically emits fake events. Meanwhile, The main idea is that the lifetime of WSNs depends on the nodes with high energy consumption or hotspot, and then the proposed scheme minimizes energy consumption in hotspot and creates redundancy diversionary routes in nonhotspot regions with abundant energy. Hence, it achieves not only privacy preservation, but also network lifetime maximization. Furthermore, this can also provide security to data transfer using Elliptical curve Cryptography technique. Design of Phase Locked Loop as a Frequency Synthesizer
-Muttappa ; Akalpita L Kulkarni
In this paper a PLL is designed and implemented. A PLL is a closed loop frequency system that locks the phase of an output signal to an input reference signal. The term ―lock refers to a constant or zero phase difference between two signals. The signal from the feedback path is compared to the input reference signal, until the two signals are locked. If the phase is unmatched, this is called the unlocked state, and the signal is sent to each component in the loop to correct the phase difference. These components consist of the PFD, CP, LPF, VCO and divide by counter. The application I chose in designing the PLL was a frequency synthesizer. A frequency synthesizer generates a frequency that can have a different frequency from the original reference signal. Read More...

An Enhanced Approach for Identification of Cosmetic Contact Lenses on Iris Recognition
-Gokul Kishan ; Vishwanath N
Iris recognition is an automated method of biometric identification that uses mathematical pattern-recognition techniques on images of the irises of an individual’s eyes, whose complex random patterns are unique and can be seen from some distance. There are several variables that affect the performance of an Iris recognition system. One amongst these covariates are Contact Lenses. There are two types of contact lenses such as the Soft and the Textured lenses which affects the system. It is the contact lenses, especially the cosmetic lenses, which poses a challenge to these recognition systems as it confuses/complicates the natural iris patterns. This paper is trying to analyze in-depth, the effects of contact lenses on iris recognition by making use of the IIIT-D Iris Contact Lens and the ND-Contact Lens Databases, and introduce an improved technique to identify the use of contact lens. DWT based Satellite Image Resolution Enhancement Technique
-Pawar Yuvraj S.
Satellite images are being used in many fields of research. One of the major issues of these types of images is their resolution. So it is essential to have high resolution satellite images. Resolution enhancement of these images has always been a major issue to extract more information from them. Wavelet domain based methods have proved as most efficient technique serving for the required purpose. Interpolation in image processing is a well-known method to increase the resolution of a digital image. Many interpolation techniques have been developed to increase the image resolution. The three different types of interpolation techniques are nearest neighbor, bilinear and bicubic interpolation .several image enhancement techniques have been proposed. In this paper, I propose a new satellite image resolution enhancement technique based on the interpolation of the high-frequency sub bands obtained by discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and the input image. The proposed resolution enhancement technique uses DWT to decompose the input image into different sub bands. Then, the high-frequency sub band images and the input low-resolution image have been interpolated, followed by combining all these images to generate a new resolution-enhanced image by using inverse DWT. In order to achieve a sharper image, an intermediate stage for estimating the high-frequency sub bands has been proposed. The proposed technique has been tested on satellite benchmark images. The quantitative (peak signal-to-noise ratio and root mean square error) and visual results show the superiority of the proposed technique over the conventional and state-of-art image resolution enhancement techniques. -Sekhada Jayadipkumar K.
In these days we required Electronic design automation(EDA or ECAD) software tools for designing electronic systems such as printed circuit boards and integratedcircuits. These tools work together in a design flow that chipdesigners use to design and analyze entire semiconductorchips. Silicon Package Board(SPB) Front End Allegro Design Workbench (ADW) and Library Workbench (LW) are well known EDA tools, which is useful to design printed circuit boards and to maintain an electronics library component. Software testing is automated to increase the test coverage, improve efficiency in finding defects and enhance the effectiveness of the development process. In large, complex and time critical projects where code needs to be tested frequently and repeatedly in the same areas of application, test automation increases efficiency and reduces test cycles. We will discuss the various aspects of how to achieve regression testing automation and techniques to run testcases. And run testcases from different locations. Read More...

Optimization using L1 Minimization Method in Image Processing
-Tanu R ; Dr. Jagadeesha S.N
In this proposal, the colorization-based coding problem is formulated into an optimization problem, i.e., an L1 minimization problem. In colorization-based coding, the encoder chooses a few representative pixels (RP) for which the chrominance values and the positions are sent to the decoder, whereas in the decoder, the chrominance values for all the pixels are reconstructed by colorization methods. The main issue in colorization-based coding is how to extract the RP well therefore the compression rate and the quality of the reconstructed color image becomes good. By formulating the colorization-based coding into an L1 minimization problem, it is guaranteed that, given the colorization matrix, the chosen set of RP becomes the optimal set in the sense that it minimizes the error between the original and the reconstructed color image. In other words, for a fixed error value and a given colorization matrix, the chosen set of RP is the smallest set possible. Read More...

Parametric Optimization on FDM Machine for Percentage Change in Length, Width and Thickness
-Kaushik Lumbhani ; Prof. R. C. Patel; Prof. D. V. Jani
The Rapid prototyping (RP) refers to a class of technology that can automatically construct the physical models from computer aided design (CAD) data. The biggest advantage of RP processes is that an entire 3-D (three-dimensional) consolidated assembly can be fabricated in a single setup without any tooling and fixture use. These processes are based on additive principle for part fabrication. The part fabrication methodology is independent of the complexity of the part geometry. Fused deposition modelling is one of the RP process that produced prototype from plastic material by layering track of semi molten plastic filament on to a platform in a layer wise manner from bottom to top. The quality of FDM made parts are highly depends upon various process parameters of FDM machine, hence optimization of FDM process parameters is necessary in order to improve the quality of parts like dimensional accuracy. The different experiments on FDM machine at different levels with the help of Taguchi method and other various optimization methods then we will conclude the best parameter set for dimensional accuracy for ABS material. After experiments with the help of Analysis of variance we conclude that the Layer thickness factor is highly inf.luence to Dimensional accuracy rather than Orientation angle and Raster width. We use regression technique and we conclude that this model is conforming at 95% confidence level. After optimization technique of grey relational analysis we conclude that the best combination set of Layer thickness, Orientation angle and Raster width is 0.254mm, 0degree, and 0.5064mm for Dimensional accuracy. Image Fusion for Underwater Images using Curvelet Transform
-Vasvi N. Patel ; Vrushank Shah; Maulik P. Modi
In the real world noise is often presented in the signal. Noise in the image is inserted during the process of image acquisition or the transmission process of image. Many parameters or factors like light levels and sensor temperature are there which are responsible the for the amount of noise present in the image. Acquiring clear images in underwater environments is an important issue in ocean engineering. Generally underwater images are affected by severe blur and haze caused by light that is reflected from surface and scattered by water particles and color change due to varying degrees of light attenuation for different wavelengths. So there is contrast losses and color deviation in images. In general underwater images are polluted by noises like Gaussian, and Speckle noise. So it is necessary that to denoise the image before further process. There are different filters to denoise the image like Gaussian Filter,Mean Filter, Weiner Filter and Curvelet Transform can be used. After that Fusion is performed of best filtering method and curvelet transform using Simple Average and Average using CVT. Performance can be calculated on the basis of parameter like PSNR (peak signal-to-noise ratio)& MSE (mean square error),MAE (Mean Absolute Error), Correlation. MATLAB is used for implementation of coding and to calculate the output parameter. Read More...
