Investigation of Optimum Welding Parameters in Ultrasonic Welding for Aluminium Foils
-A.Balasuadhakar ; S.Sivagurunathan
The use of welding in today’s manufacturing technology is extensive. Welding is the process of joining similar or dissimilar material combinations. Ultrasonic welding (USW) is a solid state welding process used for rapidly joining a wide range of similar and dissimilar combination of metals and plastics in very short cycle time and without melting the materials being joined. This paper deals with the Ultrasonic welding of thin Aluminium foils. The main objective of this paper is to arrive at an optimum parameter window of ultrasonic welding variables for the above said material. The ultrasonic parameters considered are power, pressure, and weld time, which exhibit significant influence on ultrasonic welds. The effect of the selected ultrasonic welding parameters was studied by conducting adequate trials on the Aluminium foils of 0.05mm thickness. After conducting preliminary trials, twenty six trials were carried out. Samples were subjected to tensile load testing using Honsfield Tensometer to study the joint efficiency. The quantitative values from tensile load testing were analyzed. The independent as well as the combined effect of ultrasonic welding parameters on tensile load were arrived at using regression equations. The investigation resulted in identifying the optimum ultrasonic welding parameters for obtaining an acceptable ultrasonic joint, for 0.05mm thick Aluminium foils. Read More...

Retail/Buyer Analytics for Online Shoppers
-Papori Kalita
In recent times as the power has shifted to customers, the shopping experience has changed greatly. Even while walking on the streets shoppers can search and compare products from any device. They can easily share their reviews on vendors and products they are using through social media sites and can create an impression about the product on other prospective customers. Retailers need to use new ideas to draw attention of the customers to face this new multi-channel environment. Hadoop and Big data allows vendors to associate with customers using various channels at a new level by controlling the enormous size of new data available today. The MapReduce(MapR) Distribution for Apache Hadoop helps retailers save, combine and examine a wide range of online and offline consumers data—online transactions, mouse click data, email, social sites and call centre records—everything in a central database. Retailers can examine this data to generate report on individual consumer nature and preferences, and based on the report retailers can offer personalized recommendations in real time. Read More...

A Review on Modeling and Analysis of Crack in the Sheet Metal Forming Process
-Sharad Haridas Dethe ; Dr. Mangesh Phate; Prof. Sachin Jadhav
All sheet metal forming processes occur after permanent plastic deformation resulting in the material properties variation and therefore it is necessary to determine the extent to which a material can further be deformed for subsequent forming. Normally tentative trial and error procedure was employed to determine these changes and adjust process settings (dies design parameter, loadings, tool course) accordingly. This approach is time consuming and depends heavily on the experimentation and trial. To concentrate on these limitations, sheet metal forming simulations has been applied to detect crack in sheet metal forming process. In this dissertation simulation is carried out on Ansys and Hyper form software, simulation result validation is carried out by experimentation process. By using sheet metal simulation, we can easily analyse the meshing conditions, stress analysis & failure point in sheet metal. After analysing the data, we can easily finalize the forming process parameter & experimentation which is the motive of this dissertation. Read More...

A Study of Effects of Different Bracing Systems on an Open Ground Storey Building
-Pranjal Konwar ; Dr. Nayanmoni Chetia
Most of the urban multistoried buildings in India today consist of an open ground storey. This is practiced and adopted to accommodate parking or reception lobbies in the first storey. With urbanization and increasing shortage of required space, it is becoming imperative to provide open ground storey in commercial and residential buildings. But open ground storey provisions reduce the stiffness of the system and a progressive collapse becomes inevitable in a severe earthquake. Studies have shown that lateral displacement at the open ground storey roof level is 4 to 6 times of that of a normal continuous building having walls in the ground storey also. Thus, the vulnerability of soft storey effect resulted structural engineers to rethink the design of a soft storey building in areas of high seismicity. The present study investigates and compares the effect of soft storey with different bracing systems. Three different steel sections were used for the purpose. The position of bracing is provided in two different arrangements. The modeling of the whole building is carried out using the computer program STAAD.Pro v8i and SAP 2000.For all cases bracing reduces the lateral displacement at the roof level of open ground storey, but judicious selection makes the results in better efficiency. A Novel Approach for Detection of Traffic Light Timer with Voice based Assistance
-Yathish A S ; Sudha V
An efficient method to detect traffic lights and recognize signal count-down timings is developed. Traffic scenes are often complex as it include lot of information, keeping constant attention on the traffic signs is not an easy task for drivers. Therefore some traffic data or signs can be missed for several causes such as the complexity of the road scene, the high number of visual information, or even the bad weather condition or visual fatigue. The countdown timings are segmented and extracted from the image based color segmentation. These signals also use specific shapes for each color, which aids visually impaired people in distinguishing signal aspects. Traffic light detection is done by color segmentation of the input image, based on the RGB color thresholding. The predominant glowing traffic light can be very well identified by this method regardless of the size and shape of the traffic lights. Although the shape of traffic lights is not considered, as a criterion for identification, only the round traffic lights are taken into account. Finally the detected digit in the timer is displayed on the screen and converted into voice. Read More...

-Naveen Kumar C S ; Manoj Kumar H
In the field of Image Processing, identification of the multi-objects in a single image is one of the challenging task to provide the suitable solution. The challenges come across this type of detection are accurate distinguishing of one object from another and providing solution to objects oriented in multiple views in different images. Cluttering is also one of the drawbacks in the identification of the object based images. As a solution to that, Content Based Information Retrieval [CBIR] will helps in detecting multiple objects in their multiple angular view. One of the advantages of CBIR is that it could analyze the images by doing segmentation. It will extract the unique surface features from each object like colour, shape, size and position of the object. Based on this information, it’s going to identify different objects from the same image. In proposal model, it is going to provide a novel solution for multi viewed, multi object identification in the retrieved images is going to be provided with the help of Content based Image Retrieval (CBIR). Performance& Emission Characteristics on Single Cylinder Diesel Engine using Calophyllum Inophyllum Biodiesel
-Arunkumar Govin ; Dr. V.M.kulkarni
Increasing usage of automobile vehicles has resulted in exponential demand of the fuel mainly the petroleum products like gasoline and diesel oil, which are depleting very fast. Also the cost of fuel is increasing continuously. This necessitates looking for the other sources of energy like renewable sources for all transport vehicles. Biodiesel is such promising alternative source of fuel energy which can be used in conventional Compression Ignition Internal Combustion engines with little or no modification of the engine design. Though edible vegetable oils can be used for the production of biodiesel, its usage jeopardizes food supplies and biodiversity. So the non-edible oils are also thought as alternative fuels for automobiles. One such oil is Calophyllum Inophyllum oil. In this project work, experiment al study has been carried out on Kirloskar single cylinder CI engine using diesel- Calophyllum Inophyllum blend to evaluate the Calophyllum Inophyllum biodiesel as an alternative fuel for CI engine. Blends with 20% (B20), 40% (B40), 60% (B60) and 80% (B80) of Calophyllum Inophyllum biodiesel are used to study the engine performance and emission characteristics of the CI engine. The results are compared with those obtained for pure 100% diesel (neat diesel). It is observed that the performance and emission characteristics of unheated of B20 Calophyllum Inophyllum biodiesel blend i.e. 20% of Calophyllum Inophyllum biodiesel and 80% diesel fuel by volume) are found to be close to neat diesel. Labview Based Force Measurement in Human Muscle using EMG
-K.Govindaraju ; B.Sasikumar; K.Raja
The surface electromyography (sEMG) signal is a biomedical signal that measures electrical currents generated in muscles during its contraction representing neuromuscular activities. The existing system commercial EMG-controlled devices are limited to rudimentary control capabilities of either discrete states (e.g. hand close/open), or one degree of freedom proportional control. The proposed system investigates the relationship between forearm electrical activity and forces exerted by the fingertips. This system is used to calculate the muscular force while lifting, pulling, pushing the object in Hot Rolling Mill with the help of electromyography. The load cell is used to calculate the force exerted by the fingertips of the human. The value of the force exerted is displayed by using the LCD. A threshold force value is fixed and it is compared with the actual force exerted by the human being. If the actual force exceeds the threshold value human beings will be affected in a way like sprain and bone rubbing etc., so an alarm is provided to indicate this situation to avoid the above mentioned accidents. The proposed system is implemented in Virtual Instrument using LabVIEW to provide a real time monitoring and control. Read More...

An Automatic Robot to Rescue the Child from Bore well System
-S.Gopinath ; T.Devika; M.Jagadeeshraja; M.Rajendiran
This paper is based on the recovery of children who fallen into borewell. Due to drought and depletion of underground water more bore wells are drilled on the surface of the earth. When the ground water gets dried or polluted nearby industries, the motor along with casing pipe are removed and the outer, surface of the bore is not insulated properly. As a result of this, the children who were playing near the bore, accidently fall into it which has drunk their lives. This aids to recover the children from the bore well without any danger of the victim. The sensor systems are interfaced with the ARM8 processor. A camera along with an LED light is used to visualize the victim as well as it helps to operate the system by control unit. The vacuum cup is used to adjust the child position. The arm movement of the robot is controlled by stepper motor. Once child is perfectly picked by robot, BLDC motor is used to lift up the child from borewell. The ZigBee plays a vital role of data transferring between the victim in borewell and the recovery team in earth surface. The simulation results are obtained by using Solid works. The hardware output is implemented and the results are shown. Read More...

Image Compression using Hybrid DCT and DWT Transform
-Kuldeep Parmar ; Vivek Shah
As per this position, images are high memory size and create problems of their transmission. The compression is not only the main objective but also the image quality is an main factor which should be kept in mind for choosing any compression techniques. Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) is one of the most used image compression technique and the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is another which provides improvements in the quality of the image. This research paper proposed a scheme for image compression using DCT and DWT named as hybrid compression technique. DCT has high energy compaction property and often require less computational resources and DWT is multi-resolution transformation. The goal is to achieve higher compression rates with preserving the quality of the reconstructed image. And increase the PSNR value of image and quality of image. Read More...

Comparative Evaluation of Soft Computing Techniques in Intersystem Handoff Algorithms
-Rubi ; Anuradha Panjeta
This paper presents the work carried out in the field of inter-system handovers. Handoff in cellular systems is a complex problem. Handoff is to be initiated and executed at an appropriate time so as to ensure the quality of service (QoS). The future communication depends upon many types of co-existing mobile communication Systems/Networks normally GSM Networks, WCDMA Networks, Satellite communication based networks, intelligent transportation systems, high altitude stratospheric platform systems (HAPS). An early HO can cause ping pong effect whereas a late one can cause QoS to degrade or even cause the call to drop. In this paper, there is discussion about the various soft computing handoff techniques like Fuzzy System , Neural Network etc. The network designer has to ensure that while a handoff is initiated to ensure QoS, he has to keep the rate of handoff to minimum, thereby reducing the burden on the network while still maintaining the QoS. Under such conflicting requirements, an intelligent HO system is the need that reduces the HO rate to minimum required while maintaining QoS. Read More...

An Optimal Scheduling Scheme for Wireless Sensor Network
-A.Vanajalakshmi ; Dr.P.Murugeshwari
In Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is an emerging technology for data transfer through a number of sensor nodes. The main cause of wasted energy consumption is packet collision. The sensor nodes are powered by batteries with limited energy. Packet scheduling is the process of resolving contention for shared resources in a network. Scheduling algorithms for every network need to be selected based on the type of users in the network and their QoS requirements. Due to transferring the data packet collision may occur so we are using scheduling algorithm. The project proposes Earliest Dead-line First (EDF) scheduling algorithm for scheduling the data packets in the queue for each node. The proposed scheduling algorithm is used for queue based scheduling because of which we can reduce the energy, transmission delay and packet loss. The queue is filled with earliest sending packets consist of lower size inside the queue so that the traffic can be reduced, the node energy can be maintained and delay of the packet cannot occur. A Collaborative Vehicle and Roadside Infrastructure Communication Scheme for Congestion Detection and Traffic Management
-Harish G ; Smitha Shekar B; Manjunath M Vibhuti
In developing countries the traffic congestion and management is one of the critical issue. Due to traffic congestion huge amount of fuel and resources are wasted and also the safety of vehicles is an important issue while travelling. To address these problems recent advances in wireless technologies have given contribution to Vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs).VANETs offer new opportunities for better communication of inter vehicle communication and road traffic management by vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication. VANETs are capable to increase the road safety and road traffic management by using inter-vehicle communication. When the traffic congestion is dense, the vehicles spend long time on road to reach the destination. To eliminate the flow of vehicles from one direction, the need of gathering traffic information and central traffic management to distribute the traffic information globally is a concern. The proposed system contributes towards Gathering traffic information by single hop-by-hop communication, detect the traffic congestion and thereby manage the traffic congestion by disseminating the information to vehicles heading towards the congestion. The system also helps in increasing the range of Road-side Unit by using hop-by-hop communication. Read More...

Performance Analysis of Cross Layer Routing Protocol with PSR and DSR for WSN
-Manasa KR ; Lokesh S; Hemanth SR
Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a self-configuring network of small sensor nodes communicating among themselves using radio signals and deployed in quantity to sense, monitor and understand the physical condition. In this paper, much of interest is shown towards the design of WSNs by using cross layer Adaptive Dynamic Retransmission technique. The objective of the work is to compare the performance of the DSR (Dynamic Source Routing) and PSR (Proactive Source Routing) protocol with the proposed work. The DSR and PSR protocols consumes more energy, hence it is required to design an energy efficient routing protocol for WSN. The performance of above mentioned techniques is compared on basis of parameters such as Throughput, Packet Delivery Ratio, Packet Loss Ratio and End to End Delay. Mechanism of the proposed work is adapted to transmit power between two nodes and to utilize the transmitted energy efficiently by making use of adaptive Dynamic Retransmission technique. -Shahaji Bhosale ; Prof. Ganesh kekan
The aim of this project is experimental analysis of Hydrodynamic journal bearing with Nano particle added lubricating oil. The dynamic analysis of hydrodynamic solid journal bearing operating under nano lubricants will be presented in this paper. The load carrying capacity of solid journal bearing mainly depends upon the viscosity of the Lubricant being used. The addition of nano particles on commercial lubricants may enhance the viscosity of lubricant and in turn changes the performance characteristics. In the proposed work is about to obtain pressure distribution in the clearance space of the solid journal bearing. CuO + BN nanoparticles are used in this study, CuO + BN based nano lubricant at various volume fractions, was prepared. The prepared samples exhibit good dispersion stability. The nano lubricant samples with different CuO + BN volume fractions are then subjected to an experimental analysis to study the Pressure generation and distribution in lubricating film of hydrodynamic bearing with increasing CuO + BN nanoparticle concentrations and load acting on bearing. Pressure generation and distribution measurements will be carried out using a Bearing testing machine. Readings will be taken at a same interval. Pressure measurements will be carried out at a various loads. Same testing procedure will be carried out for conventional (non nanofluid added lubricant) bearing. Read More...

Experimental Study of Solar Powered Adsorption Refrigeration System
-Sneha patil ; Prof. S. G.Dambhare
The sun is an outstanding energy source for mankind. It is clean and comes to the earth for free. There is no need to drill and refine it or mine it out of the ground. The devices needed to gather its energy are simple, quiet and on-polluting. International environment protection initiatives have led to the intensification of research efforts on development of ozone and global warming safe refrigeration technology. In recent years, increasing attention is being given to the use of waste heat and solar energy in energizing refrigerating systems. Solar powered refrigeration and air-conditioning have been very attractive during the last twenty years, since the availability of sunshine and the need for refrigeration both reach maximum levels in the same season. Conventional cooling technologies are generally based on the electrically driven refrigeration system. These systems have several disadvantages: they require high levels of primary energy consumption, causing electricity peak loads and employ refrigerants with negative environmental impacts. Solar adsorption refrigeration is an option to overtake the drawbacks of the conventional cooling system. The adsorption refrigeration is based on the evaporation and condensation of a refrigerant combined with adsorption. This project will describes the design and fabrication of the experimental chamber, the experimental procedure and its feasibility towards development of an alternative eco-friendly refrigeration cycle for replacement of chlorofluorocarbons. The objective of this project is to establish an alternative eco-friendly refrigeration cycle for producing a temperature usually encountered in a conventional refrigerator. By manufacturing such type of refrigerator adds new dimension to the world of refrigeration. This refrigerator gives some amount of relief to the refrigeration world by making it independent of electric power supply and zero running cost. This system designed by using pair of silica gel as adsorbing material and water as a refrigerant. This system is capable of cooling down a load of 10 litres initially at 35oC; down to 08o Causing only solar energy produced by a flat plate solar collector. Read More...

-Deepa Bhale ; M.P. Rajurkar; Pravin Ladkat
Many water service providers in India fail to accomplish the fundamental objective of supplying adequate and safe water effectively at affordable prices due to an intermittent water supply. Besides inconveniencing users, risk of contamination and water wastage is more in intermittent water supply which leads to this failure. In view of this the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) proposes to provide continuous water supply to the consumers for the entire city in phases. Leakages in the distributaries must be fixed before a 24×7 water supply system is put in place to reduce the amount of water lost in distribution. This paper describes the leak detection of invisible leaks using Helium Mass Spectrometer implemented in Dalvi Nagar area of PCMC. Using this technique, total 18 invisible leak points are detected in three cycles of leak detection. The study includes flow measurement and its monitoring showing that water flow from Elevated Service Reservoir decreased after leak repair resulting in water conservation. This paper reveals that quality of water also improved after leak detection and repair work meeting the standard limits. Read More...

In Cloud Computing data storage and data sharing is an important and efficient technique. In this paper we will show how efficiently, securely and Flexibly method to share data with other people in cloud storage system. This system produce constant-size cipher texts such that efficient delegation of decryption rights for any set of cipher texts are possible. The novelty is that one can aggregate any set of secret keys and make them as compact as a single key, but encompassing the power of all the keys being aggregated. In other words, the secret key holder can release a constant-size aggregate key for flexible choices of ciphertext set in cloud storage, but the other encrypted files outside the set remain confidential. In other words, the secret key holder can release constant-size aggregate key for flexible choices of ciphertext set in cloud storage, but the other encrypted files outside the set remain confidential. This compact aggregate key can be conveniently sent to others or be stored in a smart card with very limited secure storage. We provide formal security analysis of our schemes in the standard model. Heat Transfer Enhancement in Dimpled Tubes
-Vilas Apet ; Prof. Dr. S. L. Borse
Heat transfer is directly proportional to the surface area and the temperature difference. While temperature difference is restricted by the application, so the surface area per unit volume is the only parameter which controls the heat transfer rate. As device having higher surface area per unit volume as compared to conventional channels is frequently used. With the development of variations in the field of fluid flow and heat transfer are increasing. Heat transfer enhancement can be achieved through dimpled tubes. This is an interesting technique in order to obtain more compact and efficient equipment. Tubes with artificial roughness obtained by providing dimples on the external tube surface are competitive in comparison to performance and cost of other enhanced techniques currently employed in turbulent flow. By using dimpled tubes heat transfer is enhanced compared to regular tubes. Enhanced tubes can be used for many applications such as Boilers, evaporators, condensers, Heaters, oil radiators and heat exchangers. This work concentrates on experimental investigation of forced convection heat transfer from dimpled tube with varying diameter and depth of dimples. The results of dimpled tube are compared with the tube without dimple. In the present investigation, heat transfer and hydrodynamics analysis of enhanced heat transfer tube with circular dimples was carried out. The dimples are disposed to form a certain specified depth on tube. Experimental tests were carried out with heating air on the entry side with a constant flow rate. This work accomplished by performing an experimental and numerical investigation using two different types of dimples: 1) circular (spherical) dimples with 4 mm diameter and 4mm depth with inline arrangement, 2) circular (spherical) dimples with 4 mm diameter and 4mm depth with staggered arrangement, 3) circular (spherical) dimples with 8 mm diameter and 4mm depth with inline arrangement and 4) circular (spherical) dimples with 8 mm diameter and 4mm depth with staggered arrangement Dimples were placed on periphery of copper tube with diameter of 4mm and 8 mm with depth of 4 mm. For those configurations the average heat transfer coefficient and Nusselt number ratio were determined experimentally. For circular dimples, heat transfer enhancements (relative to a plain tube) were observed for Reynolds number range from 5000 to 12000. Read More...
