A Survey on Web Prefetching Techniques
-Tanu Sihag
Web prefetching is an important aspect to find the possibility of finding which object would be requested in near future. Demand of internet and easy accessibility of information, communication and flexibility had put gigantic pressures on the principal infrastructure of WWW. Web prefetching is one of the techniques proposed to reduce user’s perceived latencies in the World Wide Web. The spatial locality shown by user’s accesses makes it possible to predict future accesses based on the previous ones. A prefetching engine uses these predictions to prefetch the web objects before the user demands them. Web prefetching is becoming important and demanding, even though the Web caching technique has been improved. Web prefetching is an effective tool for improving the access to the World Wide Web. Traffic Monitoring using Isolate and Control Algorithm in TCP/AQM Networks
-Nithyashree G D ; Shashidhara M S
To support the myriad of envisioned communication products of the future, there is a need to develop a network infrastructure that can provide larger bandwidth, with better control of quality of service (QoS). However, with increasing demand for applications running over packet networks, congestion at the intermediate nodes (e.g., routers and switches) can be a serious problem. Consequences include long delays, large delay variation and high packet loss rates. Different solutions requiring varying levels of modification to the currently used algorithms have been proposed both for responsive (e.g., TCP) and unresponsive (e.g., UDP) protocols. However, most of the solutions are either too complicated to implement in real life or not general enough to be applicable to an arbitrary network topology. In this project a new AQM algorithm ICU AQM (Isolate and Control- AQM) which effectively detects unresponsive flows and controls them based on the network load status is proposed in order to strengthen the robustness of Internet against unresponsive flows. ICU AQM algorithm is used to detect and isolate the unresponsive flows which in turn results in protection to responsive flows. The project work is simulated using NS2. The results are compared with other AQM algorithms to show the increase in the performance of the proposed algorithm. Read More...

Tracking Moving Object using WSN and Compression
-Sachin Kumar ; Dr.K.Raghuveer
Studies in location-acquisition technologies, such as and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and global positioning systems (GPSs), have fostered many novel applications like object tracking, environmental monitoring, and location-dependent service. These applications generate a huge amount of location data, and hence lead to transmission and storage challenges, especially in resource constrained environments like WSNs. To reduce the data volume, various algorithms have been proposed for data compression and data aggregation. However, the above works do not approach application-level semantics, such as the group relationships and movement patterns, in the location data. Natural phenomena show that many creatures from large social groups and move in regular patterns. However, previous works focus on finding the movement patterns of each single object or all objects. In this paper first propose an efficient predict, next algorithm to jointly identify group of moving objects and discover their movement patterns in wireless sensor networks. Then we propose compression algorithm known as merging algorithm to merge and compress the location data of group of moving objects. Read More...

Performance and Emission Analysis of Two Stroke Four Spark Plug
-Abhishek Viradiya ; Asst.Prof.Mayank Sompura; Asst.Prof.Hardik Patel; Nikunj Patel
This paper describes some results of the research in the area of multiple spark ignition engines In the single spark plug engine there is a high exhaust emission and low break thermal efficiency because of incomplete combustion .To overcome this problem new dual spark plug engine is developed. Dual spark ignition system has proved their potential in improving the performance of the engines and improved emissive characteristics as compared with the single spark plug ignition system. Recently a new type engine has been introduced which uses triple spark plugs at different location, controlled by an advanced electronic control unit. This advanced electronic control unit uses three different ignition timings with variable spark plug number. Experiments were conducted at different load conditions and different types of engines has proved that dual spark plug ignition engines are surely better than a single spark plug engine ,but triple spark ignition engines has proved their potential .It is experimentally investigated that in the single spark plug mode the centrally located spark plug is most effective and gives best performance. In the dual ,triple and four spark plug mode if the central location of the spark plug is not possible because of the design of the engine than spark plugs were considered to be located diametrically opposite to each other on cylinder head axis symmetrically. According to Dimensionless distance from the cylinder centre to spark plug location on cylinder head, rsd = rs/R, five locations (rsd = 0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, and 1.0) were considered. Inevitably rsd = 0 corresponds to the single spark arrangement that the plug is located at the centre. To comparison, single-spark plug configurations were also considered for other selected spark plug locations. Current paper investigate the effect of multi spark plug to the single spark plug on the basis of the performance of engine and emissive characteristics of engine. The result shown that the considerable improvement in the performance of engine output and considerable reduction in BSFC,HC and Co emission in multi spark plug mode. Read More...

A Technical Review on Design of Coil Finned-Tube Type Heat Exchanger for Helium Liquefaction Plant
-Vivek Pradipkumar Sarvaiya ; Dr. S.M. Mehta
Heat exchanger is the most crucial component in cryogenic processes, for improving efficiency and decreasing cost of the whole plant. The selected dissertation problem is focuses on design of coil finned-tube type cryogenic heat exchanger used for helium liquefaction system. So, first heat exchanger in Collins cycle has been selected for the dissertation work. The main reason for using this configuration is the inherent requirements of cryogenic heat exchangers; one is high heat transfer effectiveness and second is low pressure drops in both of the streams. The effectiveness and pressure drop of heat exchanger drives the performance of the whole liquefaction system. Coil finned tube type of heat exchangers provides high crossflow heat transfer coefficient on shell side which is a governing parameter to decide overall heat transfer coefficient. Moreover it provides very low shell side pressure drops and high overall effectiveness of counter flow. The geometrical parameters can be manipulated to adjust the thermal performance as well as pressure drop performance of heat exchanger. The clearance between the walls of shell and fin is very important parameter to adjust the performance. Read More...

Performance Metric Comparison of AODV and DSR Routing Protocols in MANETS
-Sangeeta Singh ; Dr. Pardeep Kumar; Mrs. Shalini Aggarwal
The mobile Ad hoc network is a dynamic network in which a temporary network is formed dynamically by the mobile nodes without any centralized administration. There are a no. of existing routing protocols which are classified mainly into table-driven and on-demand routing protocols. Among all on-demand routing protocols, AODV and DSR routing protocols are the most efficient routing protocols which are designed particularly for wireless ad hoc networks comprising of mobile nodes. These protocols have quick adaptation to changes in topology, low network usage, less memory and processing issues in the ad hoc network. In this paper an effort has been made to compare the performance of AODV and DSR on the basis of varying node velocity. To measure the performance, three commonly used network performance metrics are used that are packet delivery ratio (PDR), throughput and average end-to-end delay. The simulation experiments are done using the NS-2 network simulator that is in use to run wired and wireless ad hoc simulations. The trace files are studied and analysed using awk scripts (delay.awk and throughput.awk). Oracle VM Virtual Box is used to run the network simulator. Read More...

-Himanshu Upadhyay ; Prof.A.N.Devani
Many Orthogonal transform techniques are available. Among the orthogonal transform DCT is widely used technique in DSP. DCT is utilized in many algorithm related to image compression. This transform requires large number of multiplications and additions. Large number of hardware elements is required for the same, special purpose designed hardware should be used, which gives high efficiency and throughput. Many transform algorithms offers high speed as well as lower silicon area. In this project we have tried to optimize power at algorithmic level, architectural level and logic level. We have implemented architecture using row column decomposition technique implemented with distributed arithmetic, a multiplier less architecture. It contains features so as to dynamically reduce computation. Read More...

Natural Language Ambiguity and Its Effect on Machine Learning
-Ruby Panwar ; Meenakshi; Amit Kumar
"Natural language processing" here refers to the use and ability of systems to process sentences in a natural language such as English, rather than in a specialized artificial computer language such as C++. The systems of real interest here are digital computers of the type we think of as personal computers and mainframes. Of course humans can process natural languages, but for us the question is whether digital computers can or ever will process natural languages. We have tried to explore in depth and break down the types of ambiguities persistent throughout the natural languages and provide an answer to the question “How it affects the machine translation process and thereby machine learning as whole?â€. UTS 2.0: Online/Offline, Authenticate, Paperless Local Railway Unreserved Ticket Booking System for Smart Phones and Feature Phones
-Amruta Vinayak Joshi ; Prof. Sudhakar Jadhav
Everyday around thousands of commuters use local railways to travel in Mumbai and Chennai. But the common issue faced by them is a long queue they have to stand in to get a railway ticket. Due to which many commuters in emergency travel without a ticket also commuters who buy the ticket spend or waste around 10 minutes in the queue. Keeping this inconvenience in mind the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) came up with a Smart app for Smart phones where users can buy the ticket online and it eliminates the time spent or wasted by standing in a queue. Also it claims to be paperless which is eco-friendly. But it would be more convenient and add more options for users if they are provided same service offline i.e. without the use of internet that way user with can buy ticket in case they do not have internet access or worse, no network coverage. That way not only users with Smart phone but also users with feature phone can get the benefit of this service. Read More...

Detecting Truthfulness of Packet Dropping Attacks using Public Auditing System in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks
- Monika Nag K J ; S Lokesh
Multi-hop wireless ad-hoc network gives increased coverage and provide several benefits over traditional wireless local area networks. This architecture makes it more vulnerable to internal attacks from compromised nodes. One of them is packet dropping attack which is a crucial issue in networks. Link error and malicious packet dropping are two sources for packet losses. While observing a sequence of packet losses in the network, it is difficult to identify whether the loss is due to link errors or malicious nodes. This paper focuses on the insider-attack case, whereby malicious nodes that are part of the route selectively drop a small amount of packets which are critical to the network performance. The malicious node may identify the importance of various packets and then it drops few packets which are important to the network operation. Since packet dropping rate in this case is comparable to the channel error rate, existing detection algorithms cannot achieve satisfactory detection accuracy in identifying packet loss rate. Detection accuracy can be improved by exploiting the correlations between lost packets. In this paper, a public auditing system is used which allows the detector to verify the truthfulness of the packet loss information. The proposed mechanism is privacy preserving, collusion proof, and it incurs low communication and storage overheads at intermediate nodes. The proposed mechanism achieves better detection accuracy than the conventional methods such as a maximum-likelihood based detection. Read More...

Jib Crane Analysis using FEM
-Sagar S Kiranalli ; N.U. Patil
This work deals with the analysis of Free Standing Jib Crane using Finite Element Method. Modeling of the parts is done using Finite Element based software ANSYS. Initially two-dimensional analysis of simple beam and simple column is done to check the suitability of type of element in three dimensional analysis. Besides, comparison of the results of these simple Finite Element models is done using the analytical solutions to ensure that mesh density used for the analysis gives correct results. Then analysis of complete jib crane is carried out using two-dimensional model. Further, the results obtained are used for the validation of the three-dimensional model. 8 Node Brick 45 (SOLID45) elements are used for meshing of three-dimensional model. For loading, various factors such as trolley weight and dynamic factor are taken into consideration. The trolley weight considered is 15% of the rated capacity of the crane. For impact loading, dynamic factor is taken into account. The value of dynamic factor is 25% of the rated capacity of crane. Thus crane is analyzed at a total factor of 1.4 of the capacity of the crane. During the post-processing maximum deformation & Von Mises Stresses are observed. Effect of various parameters like web thickness, web height and load is studied systematically. Read More...
