Solar Bagasse Dryer
-Mayur R. Kadlag ; Mayur Kadlag; Sachin Lahane; Akshay Dhavane; Satish Kadam
The solar drying system utilizes solar energy to heat up air and to dry Bagasse by reducing its moisture content and using it as an alternative for coal in boiler to reduce the pollutants and conserve our non-renewable resources as well as drying any food substance loaded, which is beneficial in reducing wastage of agricultural product and helps in preservation of agricultural product. Based on the limitations of the natural sun drying e.g. exposure to direct sunlight, liability to pests and rodents lack of proper monitoring, and the escalated cost of the mechanical dryer, a solar is therefore developed to cater for this limitation. This project presents the design, construction and performance of a mixed-mode solar dryer for Bagasse. In the dryer, the heated air from a separate solar collector is passed through a Bagasse bed, and at the same time, the drying cabinet absorbs solar energy directly through the transparent walls and roof. Analysis of Symmetrical and Unsymmetrical Faults in a Distribution System with Distributed Generation Units through an Active Type SFCL
-K. Sanjay ; K. Sravani
For a power distribution system with distributed generation (DG) units, its fault current and induced overvoltage under abnormal conditions should be taken into account seriously. In consideration that applying superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) may be a feasible solution, in this paper, the effects of a voltage compensation type active SFCL on them are studied through theoretical derivation and simulation. The active SFCL is composed of an air-core superconducting transformer and a PWM converter. The magnetic field in the air-core can be con-trolled by adjusting the converters output current, and then the active SFCLs equivalent impedance can be regulated for current-limitation and possible overvoltage suppression. During the study process, in view of the changes in the locations of the DG units connected to the system, the DG units injection capacities and the fault positions, the active SFCLs current-limiting and overvoltage-suppressing characteristics are both simulated in MATLAB. The simulation results show that the active SFCL can play an obvious role in restraining the fault current and overvoltage, and it can contribute to avoiding damage on the relevant distribution equipment and improve the systems safety and reliability. -Roopashree S ; Dr. B.V. Kiran Kumar; Manjunatha S; Praveen Kumar P; Gnanamurthy P B
The economy of a nation is mainly governed by the transportation sector. In India, there has been a piercing upturn in the populace resulting in increased traffic which also increases the loading on the flexible pavement Due to that demand for better pavement to withstand all the worse condition also increased. So additives are added to improve the properties of the bituminous concrete mix. In the present investigations Envirotac-Sc chemical is added to the bitumen and the bitumen’s physical and engineering properties are investigated with different percentages of chemical by the weight of the bitumen. As the result, the additives improve the virgin bitumen’s performance. Then the bituminous concrete mix is prepared by using virgin bitumen VG-10 and also by addition of Envirotac-Sc to the bitumen and tested as per Marshall Method of mix design. As the conclusion, the existence of Envirotac Sc chemical in the bitumen improves the properties of the bitumen. Hence, the bitumen helps in resisting distress such as rutting and cracking. The decrease in the penetration with the increase in the Envirotac-SC further confirms the improvement of bitumen properties. The stability of the BC mix prepared by addition of Envirotac-Sc found little more than the conventional BC mix. However, some recommendations are commended in order to attain superior results. Comparative Analysis of a Lateral Load Resisting System with Shear Walls
-Md Sameer Ahmed ; Syed Moulana Hashmi; Sheikh Abdullah
In addition to columns, beams, slab RCC structures are having vertical plates or walls called the shear walls. We are calling them shear walls as they are resisting large amount of shear because of lateral loads on the RCC structure. Thus, shear deformation does not dominate the RC wall failures. Shear walls are a type of wide beams that carry the seismic forces or loads to the base or foundation. It can also act like a cantilever to oppose the lateral loads without or in presence of the frames. The vertical elements of the lateral load resisting system are the Shear walls. We are constructing the shear walls to reduce the effect of the lateral loads on a tall structure. Shear walls are constructed in the residential as well as the commercial buildings based on the requirements to form a box type structure to resist the lateral loads. Thus after proper design and construction shear walls are ready to resist the lateral loads acting on the structure bearing sufficient strength and stiffness to resist these loads. The Shear walls which are constructed in the structure not only resist the vertical loads and its self weight but also the lateral loads due to winds, earthquake and sway moments. The shear walls are placed at such positions and angles such that it has a considerable affect on the lateral loads. Therefore, shear walls are best suited for the structure in the resistance of the lateral loads. Shear walls has to resist many forces acting on it such as the pull of the wind forces, the shear forces which pushes the walls, etc., Different types and shapes of shear walls are constructed in the structure according to the lateral load resistance design requirements, hence gaining the three dimensional stability. Integrated Quadratic Boost Zeta Converter
-Anju A Nair ; Jeena Joy; Leela Salim
In theory conventional boost converters can have voltage gain infinite when duty cycle approximate to one. But it has certain disadvantages when used in high step up applications. A novel high step-up DC/DC converter named Integrated Quadratic-Boost-Zeta converter (QBZ) is based on the combination of two well-known DC/DC converter circuits, the Isolated Zeta converter and the Quadratic-Boost converter. The output voltage boosting is obtained by summing both output voltages of the Zeta and the Quadratic Boost. Topology has a single-switch, maintaining a low component count. The circuit can ensure a low output current ripple due to the Zeta output inductor. The converter is made to provide a regulated output voltage for a range of input as the solar input depends on environmental conditions. The Integrated Quadratic-Boost-Zeta Converter is analyzed, and its feasibility and reliability are confirmed by experimental results obtained from laboratory prototype for 5 KHz, 1.6W output power. -PRAVEEN VIJAYAN ; Acy M Kottalil; Sera Mathew
A single phase nine level inverter with a Phase Disposition (PD) multicarrier Pulse Width Modulated control scheme is presented. The harmonic content and switching stress is less in this topology. Also the self-balancing of capacitors is the main advantage of this control scheme. The capacitor potential divider circuit generate for voltages with equal magnitude and by using this the inverter generates nine output voltage levels (Vdc, 3Vdc/4, 2Vdc/4, Vdc/4, 0, -Vdc/4, -2Vdc/4, -3Vdc/4, -Vdc/4). The proposed inverter requires only few components. A single voltage source is the only requirement. Nine power electronic switches, three uncontrolled switches and four capacitors provide the efficient operation of the inverter. The requirement of multiple independent voltage sources is eliminated in this topology. Read More...

Adaptive Channel Allocation for Cellular Networks using the Bandwidth Aware Call Admission Control for Sub-Channels (BACAC-SC)
-Deepti Gupta ; Maninder Singh
The call admission control (CAC) is the method for the absorption of the handoff and new calls in the cellular cluster. The CAC methods are designed for the control of the channels in the given cellular cell in the popular singular or multiple pooling of the channels. The concept of the reserve channels is popular among the cellular techniques for handling of the handoff or the handover calls. The proposed model is based upon the sub-channel allocation over the reserve channel allocation policy. The sub-channel allocation method requires the computation of the available bandwidth shared among the multiple users and to control the bandwidth with the absorption of the new user. The sub-channel allocation method requires the number of computations altogether or in the hierarchical fashion for the realization of the minimized data drop rate based evaluation. The proposed model has been evaluated by using the probability of dropping the handoff calls and the probability of the blocking of the new calls. The proposed model has been clearly outperformed the existing model in most of the cases in the cellular cluster. Read More...

A Modified Sepic Converter with High Static Gain
-Neethumol N. K ; Elizabeth Paul; Benny Cherian
fuel cells needs high step up ratio dc-dc converter. This is because, such energy resources generates low dc voltage which needs to be converted into high dc, before converting to ac voltage. Two modified SEPIC converters for low input voltage and high output voltage application topologies are studied and they results in reduced switching voltage and increases the static gain. The configurations with and without magnetic coupling are analysed. The magnetic coupling allows the increase in static gain than the circuit without the magnetic coupling and maintains the reduced switch voltage. Simulation is done using MatlabR2014a. experimental prototypes of modified SEPIC converter with magnetic coupling were developed with input voltage equal to 8V. The circuit with magnetic coupling gives an output voltage of 160V. The configuration with magnetic coupling is modified for obtaining dual output. Read More...

-Jamvant Omkar ; Gurpreet Singh
In this Technical era the high speed and low area of VLSI and ULSI integrated are very- very essential factors. Day by day number of transistors and other active and passive elements are increasing on VLSI chip. In Integral part of the processor adders play an important role, as Adders are the fundamental structure blocks in digital processing systems in which arithmetic operations are widely used. Multiplication is the arithmetic operation block require for numerous processors and other digital systems. As the use of digital circuits and systems in the computational applications of Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) algorithms have gradually enhanced over the years, which needs a multiplier to achieve high implementation speed and to meet this performance demands we have used the Vedic multiplication. An uncomplicated Vedic multiplier structural design based on the Urdhva Tiryakbhyam (UT), vertically and Cross wise Sutra of Vedic mathematics has been discussed in used on behalf of low propagation convolution technique. In this review paper we are using proposed high speed adders and multipliers for designing the convolution to reduce the size and increase the efficiency or processors speed. Here we are comparing the different- different type of multiplier and adders of different word size from other adders. The design and experiment can be done by the aid of Xilinx 14.1i Spartan 3 device family. Read More...

Bridgeless Multiple Output SMPS
-Jopaul K J ; George John P; Babu Thomas
Switched mode power supplies (SMPSs) are used for powering up different parts in a personal computer by developing multiple dc voltages from a single-phase ac voltage. Normally, a bridge rectifier (BR) followed by a filter capacitor is used at the front end of these SMPSs. BR causes significant reduction in the power quality. This thesis deals with the design, analysis, simulation and development of a power-factor-correction (PFC) multiple output switched-mode power supply (SMPS) using a bridgeless buck–boost converter at the front end. Single-phase ac supply is fed to a pair of back-to-back-connected buck–boost converters to eliminate the diode bridge rectifier, which results in reduction of conduction losses and power quality improvement at the front end. The operation of the bridgeless buck–boost converter in discontinuous conduction mode ensures inherent PFC operation and reduces complexity in control. For providing isolation and multiple output a forward converter (FWDC) with active clamping circuit is proposed. Simulation of the proposed converter is done using MATLAB R2014a. Finally an experimental set up of 30W is set up in laboratory and verified the feasibility of the proposed topology. Read More...

Replacement of Cement with Rice Husk Ash in Concrete
-Nitin Goel ; R. K. Sharma; Sonu Gautam
As the demand for concrete as construction material increases, so also the demand for Portland cement increase. It is estimated that the production of cement increase from 168 million tons in 2007 to 179 million tons in 2011. On the other hand, the climate change due to global warming has become a major concern. The global warming is caused by the emission of gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), to the atmosphere by human activities. CO2 contributes about 65% of global warming. The cement industry is held responsible for some of the CO2 emission because the production of one ton of Portland cement emits approximately one ton of CO2 into the atmosphere. The construction field has prompted the designers and developers to look for ‘alternative materials’ for the possible use in civil engineering constructions. For this objective, the use of industrial waste products and agricultural byproducts are very constructive. These industrial wastes and agricultural byproducts such as Fly Ash, Rice Husk Ash, Silica Fume, and Slag etc can be used as cementing materials because of their pozzolanic behavior, these product require large tracts of lands for dumping. Large amounts of wastes obtained as byproducts from many of the industries can be the main sources of such alternate materials. The RICE HUSK ASH can be used as an alternative material instead of ordinary Portland cement. This technology could reduce the CO2 emission to the atmosphere caused by the cement industries. Therefore, this paper aims at replacement of cement with rice husk ash in concrete which will help in solving major problems of global warming and it also increases the properties of concrete. Enzymatic Hydrolysis of Groundnut Husk using Three Different Pleurotus SPP
-Ram Naraian
Present study was conducted to evaluate the hydrolysis efficiency of three different white-rot basidiomycete fungi including Pleurotus florida (PF), Pleurotus sajor-caju (PS) and Pleurotus eryngii (PE). Under this study, digestion of groundnut powder with reference to enzyme yield, release of free sugar, and loss in dry matter were investigaed. Initially these strains were cultivated under submerged conditions with groundnut husk substrate for the production of enzymes. Pleurotus florida comparatively produced its highest CMCase (345 UL-1), β-glucosidase (69 UL-1), β-xylosidase (41 UL-1) and xylanase (277 UL-1) activity under the conditions of submerged fermentation. Furthermore, these enzymes produced were used to check in vitro degradability of groundnut powder. Direct enzymetic treatment of groundnut powder using mono extracts (PF, PS, & PE) and mixed enzyme extract (PF+PS, PF+PE, PS+PE and PF+PS+PE) combinations significantly hydrolyzed the substrate. These enzyme extracts from all three fungi resulted significant dry matter loss and free sugar yield. In consequence, the highest 8.2% dry matter loss was recorded with PF+PS+PE mixed extract. In addition, treatment with PF+PS+PE extract resulted highest 448 mg/g sugar content from the hydrolysis of groundnut husk powder. Therefore, based on the findings of the study; use of enzyme extracts from the Pleurotus florida is recomended for the saccharification of lignocelloses at large scale. Read More...

Design and Analysis of Leaf Spring
-B. Mahesh ; N. S Mondal; S. Raju
Leaf spring is a simple form of suspension spring used to absorb vibrations induced during the motion of a vehicle. The automobile industry has shown increased interest in the replacement of steel leaf spring (55 Si 7) with composite leaf spring (E-glass/Epoxy) and jute/glass epoxy due to high strength to weight ratio, higher stiffness, high impact energy absorption and lesser stresses. This research is aimed to investigate the suitability of natural and synthetic fiber reinforced hybrid composite material in automobile leaf spring application. By using natural fibers efforts have been made to reduce the cost and weight of leaf spring. In this work an attempt is made to develop a natural and synthetic fiber enforced hybrid composite material with optimum properties so that t can replace the existing synthetic fiber reinforced composite material n automobile leaf spring. Jute and E-glass woven roving mats are used as reinforcements and epoxy resin LY556 is used as the matrix material. The CAD models of Leaf spring are prepared in CATIA V5 and imported in static structural analysis work bench of Ansys 14.5 where ignite element analysis (FEA) is performed. The design constraints are stresses and deflections. This study gives a comparative analysis between steel leaf spring and Jute/E glass reinforced Epoxy leaf spring. The hybrid composite leaf spring is found to have lesser weight, lesser cost, lesser stresses and higher stiffness. Read More...

-Ms. Rohini Rajendra Dabhade ; Prof. Pawan C. Tapre ; Prof. C. Veeresh
In this project presents a Design of a Unified Power Quality conditioner (UPQC) connected to three phase four wire system (3P4W). The neutral of series transformer used in the fourth wire for the 3P4W system. The neutral current that may flow toward transformer neutral point is compensated by using a four-leg voltage source inverter topology for shunt part. The series transformer neutral will be at virtual zero potential during all operating conditions. In this simulation we observe the power quality problems such as unbalanced voltage and current, harmonics by connecting nonlinear load to 3P4W system with Unified Power Quality conditioner. A new control strategy such as unit vector template is used to design the series APF to balance the unbalanced current present in the load currents by expanding the concept of single phase P-Q theory. Sensors are the tiny devices which are able to connect to the physical world and can gather information or control a physical parameter in the field. To do these controlling and monitoring tasks sensors works together by forming a wireless network called as wireless sensor network (WSN). WSN work efficiently, if there are efficient routing and Media Access Control (MAC) protocols available. Energy efficiency is required because the sensors mostly operate on a small battery without any external power supply. As MAC layer has control over the communication between sensor nodes in the network, there is requirement of energy efficient MAC protocols. MAC protocol design for WSN is a challenging task because of the resource constraints and limited capabilities in sensor nodes. In literature many energy efficient MAC protocols has been proposed for WSN. This paper presents the classification and comparative analysis of energy efficient MAC protocols for WSN. Also, the characteristics of a good MAC protocol has been discussed with performance metrics for MAC in WSN Read More...

-Sultan A Inamdar ; Dr. G. V. Shah
Dry electric discharge machining (EDM) is an environment-friendly modiï¬cation of the oil EDM process in which liquid dielectric is replaced by a gaseous medium. In the current work, parametric analysis of the process has been performed with tubular copper tool electrode and Tungsten Carbide work-piece. Experiments have been conducted using air as the dielectric medium to study the effect of gap voltage, peak current, pulse on time, pulse off time and wire feed on material removal rate (MRR) and surface finish (Ra). First of all input parameters which contribute in obtaining desired material removal rate (MRR) and surface finish (Ra) are finalized by referring previous literature. Then baseline data is collected for current process parameters, which gives response in terms of material removal rate and surface finish. Further experimental analysis is carried out for optimizing the input parameters like gap voltage, peak current, pulse on time, pulse off time and wire feed for getting desired output, which is material removal rate (MRR) and surface finish (Ra). Experimental analysis is accomplished by using Design of Experiments (Taguchi design). For the design, performance and analysis of DOE statistical software (MINITAB 17) is utilized. Read More...

A Novel Study Towards High Efficiency Converter for Renewable Energy System
-K. Saikiran ; Rajanbabu
This paper has presented the theoretical analysis of steady condition, related consideration, simulation results, and experimental recent results for the suggested ripper tools. The suggested ripper tools are appropriate for top-power or alternative energy programs that require high step-up conversion. The configuration from the suggested ripper tools not just cuts down on the current stress but additionally constrains the input current ripple, which lessens the passing deficits and elongates the duration of the input source. Additionally, because of the lossless passive clamp performance, leakage energy is recycled towards the output terminal. Hence, large current spikes over the primary switches are alleviated, and also the efficiency is enhanced. Read More...

A Comparison Paper on Detecting Black Hole Nodes in Manets by Enhancing CBDS Scheme
-Neeta Sharma ; Dr. Rakesh Gangwar; Mr. Singh Navneet Kahlon
Mobile ad-hoc networks allow easy, fast and inexpensive network operation. An ad-hoc network is a collection of mobile nodes that dynamically form a temporary network and are infrastructure less. Nodes of the network communicate with each other directly or through intermediate nodes. Routing protocols are requisite to discover a best possible path between source and destination node. Mobile Ad-hoc Networks have many security vulnerabilities due to which ad-hoc networks are isolated to attacks of the malicious nodes. One of these attacks is the Black Hole attack against network veracity. During this attack, nodes absorb all data packets in the network. And the data packets do not reach to the destination which results loss of data. This paper compares the corresponding simulation result in Ns2.35 and demonstrates that our technique not only prevents black /gray hole but also improves performance. Read More...
