Liquid Effluent Radiation Monitoring System
-Javed Mulla ; Saurabh Ladgekar; Kishor Kale; Shweta Banait
Liquid Effluent Radiation Monitor (LERM) is used for measuring the volumetric radioactivity of sea water. Radiation is the unwanted electromagnetic waves or signals which are coming out from nuclear power plant, cosmic rays and terrestrial medium. Effluent is an outflowing of water or gas from natural body of water, or from manmade structure. Effluent is defined by the United States environmental protection agency as “Waste water treated or untreated that flows out of a treatment plant, sewer or industrial outfall. Generally refers wastes discharge into surface water. †Radiation is all around us. Radiation is measured in the unit of Sievert voltage (sv). It is in our environment and has been since the Earth was formed. As a result, life has evolved in the presence of significant levels of ionizing radiation. It comes from outer space (cosmic), the ground (terrestrial) and even from within our own bodies. It is in the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink and the materials used to build our homes.Future applications of the Nuclear Materials Identification System will require detectors that are significantly larger than those previously used. Typical NMIS measurements have utilized fast plastic scintillator detectors on the order of 6x6 inches square and liquid scintillators on the order of 6 inches in diameter. Health outcomes would vary depending on how healthy the person is before the exposure and the medical care they receive. If the exposure affects only parts of the body, such as the hands, effects will likely be more localized, such as skin burns. Read More...

Performance Testing of Reciprocating Pump with Arduino Uno and G1/4 Pressure Transducer
-Sankaranand P Ganesan
This paper presents a performance testing of the reciprocating pump to determine the working condition and analyzing the delivery and suction pressure which plays an important role in maintaining proper heads. Using conventional performance testing methods, efficiency and working of the pump are improved. Various performance test of pumps is available with different degrees of accuracy. Reciprocating pumps are used where flow is constant and high delivery pressures are required, so they are exposed to more risk of failure when changing the pressure by manually regulating a valve. Even a witnessed test will not be correct and have a tolerance on the accuracy due to the collective gauge inaccuracies and pressure fluctuations. As a result, various sensors are used to check the current performance of the equipment. Arduino Uno which is an open source microcontroller has been used due to its low cost. In this study, the performance testing, which is easy to detect the defects if the pump is not operating as per the design requirements is carried out using G 1/4 Pressure Transducer. Data Acquisition is done with the help of the Arduino Uno board and a pressure transducer in a computer. The measurements were taken for the pump operating at a speed of 350 RPM. The main emphasis is laid to make the pumps designed to operate for longer times and to eliminate failures which result in downtime during operation in industries and even in households with improved safety. The obtained results were compared with the results obtained in conventional measurement technique to determine if any of the parameters is affecting the performance of the reciprocating pump. -Arun Kumar Pandey ; Nitesh Singh; Chetan Rathod; Akshay Desai; Nitesh Singh
Magneto rheological fluid (MRF) is a type of non newtotnion fluid whose properties can be controlled with the help of metal particles and magnetic field. These fluids have the ability to transmit force in a controlled manner with the help of magnetic field, thus improving their performance especially in areas where controlled fluid motion is required. In this research a Magneto rheological (MR) brake is fabricated and also MR fluid is prepared. The proposed brake consists of single rotating disk immersed in a MR fluid and enclosed electromagnet. When magnetic field is applied to the MR Brake, the MR fluid solidifies as its viscosity varies as a function of the magnetic field applied. This controllable viscosity produces shear friction on the rotating disk generating braking torque. Read More...

Image Forgery Detection using Adaptive over Segmentation and SURF
-Regin V Roy ; Teena Susan Joseph
A novel copy-move forgery detection scheme using adaptive over-segmentation and SURF is proposed in this paper. The proposed scheme integrates both block-based and keypoint-based forgery detection methods. First, the proposed Adaptive Over-Segmentation algorithm segments the host image into non-overlapping and irregular blocks adaptively. Then, the feature points are extracted from each block as block features using SURF, and the block features are matched with one another to locate the labeled feature points; this procedure can approximately indicate the suspected forgery regions. To detect the forgery regions more accurately, we propose the Forgery Region Extraction algorithm, which replaces the feature points with small superpixels as feature blocks and then merges the neighboring blocks that have similar local color features into the feature blocks to generate the merged regions; finally, it applies the morphological operation to the merged regions to generate the detected forgery regions. The experimental results indicate that the proposed copy-move forgery detection scheme can achieve much better detection results even under various challenging conditions compared with the existing state-of-the-art copy move forgery detection methods.` Read More...

VLSI Architecture for Montgomery Modular Multiplier using RCA
-Shunmugalakshmi. M ; Dharani. E; Dhivyaa. R; Bhuvaneswari. M; Jasmine Silviya. I
This paper proposes a RCA(ripple carry adder) based Montgomery multiplier to achieve low cost and high performance. The proposed multiplier uses ripple carry adder to avoid the high usage of memory in the system. This RCA is used to do the addition operation at each stage without saving the carry but by propagating it to the next stage and also to perform operand precomputation and format conversion that helps to convert carry save format to binary format leading to a low hardware complexity and high speed performance at the expense of more clock cycles for completing single multiplication. To overcome the weakness, a RCA is proposed to reduce the additional clock cycles for operand precomputation. Experimental results show that the proposed Montgomery modular can achieve higher performance and significant hardware complexity reduction when compared with previous design. Read More...

-Vaghasiya Surbhi D. ; Trivedi Priya V.; J. B. Zala
The main aim of this project (solar energy optimization for street light using arduino) is to utilize the application of the Arduino board to control the intensity of street light. As the sun radiation decreases slowly during late-night hours, the intensity of street light gets increased progressively to save energy and so, the street lights switch on at the dusk and then switch off at the dawn, automatically. . The process repeats every day. . White Light Emitting Diodes (LED) replaces conventional light in street lighting system to include dimming feature. The intensity is not possible to be controlled by the convectional street light which is generally used in urban street lights. LED lights are the future of lighting, because of their low energy consumption and long life. LED lights are fast replacing conventional lights because intensity control is possible by the PWM.This proposed system uses an Arduino board and a rectified-power supply. String of LED are interfaced to the Arduino board with a MOSFET device .The intensity control of the LED light is possible by varying duty cycle from a DC source. A programmed Arduino board is engaged to provide different intensities at different times of the night using PWM technique. This project is also enhanced by integrating the LDR to follow the switching operation precisely. Read More...

Distributed Computing for Mobile Computation Power
-Vivek Mahesh Sahu ; Bhushan Patil; Sayali Bhujbal; Prathamesh Patil
In this paper we are going to implement distributed framework for performing a simple computation, on mobile computing devices. A central server should take a large computation and decompose it. Mobile computing devices will then be allowed to connect to the server. Connecting, the devices will assign tasks to complete, and upon completing the tasks, the results will be sent back to the server to be mapped. The inherent problems of mobile computing such as resource scarcity, security and low connectivity pose problems for most applications. However, the dynamic nature of mobile computing makes sharing and coordinating work difficult. We help by pooling together the processing power of mobile devices within a crowd to form mobile cloud. We explore this concept of ‘work stealing’ crowd computing in a distributed processing on an opportunistic network and focus on the optimized processing of work. Current work stealing mechanism, security can be specified wherein the data transmitted across the crowd network will be secured using encryption techniques and the system Algorithm is generated which states the techniques and working. Design of Multiple Spindle Drilling Machine
-Nikalassda Bhandakkar ; Yaman Patle; Sagar Awachat; Shubham Kale ; Manisha Fande
The growth of Indian manufacturing sector depends largely on its productivity & quality. Productivity depends upon many factors, one of the major factors being manufacturing efficiency with which the processes are carried out in the organization. Productivity can be improved by reducing the total machining time, combining the operations etc. In case of mass production where variety of jobs is frequent and quantity to be produced is maximum, it is very essential to produce the job at a faster rate. This is not possible if we carry out the production by using general purpose machines. The best way to increase the productivity along with quality is by using of special purpose machine. Usefulness and performance of the existing radial drilling machine will be improved by designing and development of multi spindle drilling head. Read More...

Design and Fabrication of Peltier Cooling System
-Priti B Ramteke ; Chandan R. Ojha; Balwant R. Singh; Vivek Kumar; Paras T. Patle
This project aims towards developing a system which will produce cooling effect without the use of mechanical devices and also refrigerant. Thermoelectric cooling system does not require working fluids or any moving parts. Thermoelectric refrigeration devices have a distinct place in medical applications, electronic applications, scientific equipment and other applications .The difference between the existing methods and this model is that a thermoelectric cooling system refrigerates without use of mechanical devices (Conventional Condenser fins and Compressor) and without refrigerant. The system consisted of the refrigeration chamber, thermoelectric modules, heat source and heat sink. A result which is a criterion of performance of such device is a function of the temperature between the source and sink. Conventional cooling systems such as those used in refrigerators utilize a compressor and a working fluid to transfer heat. Thermal energy is absorbed and released as the working fluid undergoes expansion and compression and changes phase from liquid to vapor and back, respectively. Semiconductor thermoelectric coolers (also known as Peltier coolers) offer several advantages over conventional systems. They are entirely solid-state devices, with no moving parts; this makes them rugged, reliable, and quiet. They use no ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbons, potentially offering a more environmentally responsible alternative to conventional refrigeration. Read More...

Applications of Semaphore: An Overview
-Ms. J. Naskath ; Ms .C. Umarani; Ms. S. Kavitha; Ms. T. Subha
An Operating System (OS) is an interface between computer user and computer hardware. It is software which performs all the basic tasks like file management, memory management, process management, handling input and output, and controlling peripheral devices such as disk drives and printers. Operating System primarily provides services for running applications on a computer system. The primary need for the OS arises from the fact that user needs to be provided with services and OS ought to facilitate the provisioning of these services. The central part of a computer system is a processing engine called CPU. A system should make it possible for a user’s application to use the processing unit. A user application would need to store information. The OS makes memory available to an application when required. Similarly, user applications need use of input facility to communicate with the application. In this paper we have discussed about execution of concurrent programming problems and increasing the reliability and efficiency of this programs using synchronization primitive tool called the semaphore with various applications. It is an integer valued variable which can take only non- negative values. It uses two operators called Wait(s) and Signal(s).Wait(s) If S>0 then S:=S-1 Else suspend the execution. Signal(S) If there are processes that have been suspended on this semaphore wake one of them else S:=S+1. Read More...

Aircraft Authentication for Image Processing
-Udhaya Sankar S M ; Rekha P; Jayashree S; Harshavardhini M
Aircraft recognition remains a challenging problem despite a great deal of effort to automate the recognition process. Most of the aircraft recognition methods involve extraction of overall shapes of aircraft at first and then represent the aircraft based on the extracted shape with different features for recognition. The major disadvantage of these methods is that they require a huge amount of analysis on shape extraction, which is too unrealistic for targets in satellite images. we propose a new hybrid recognition method that combines contour wavelet features and correlation on shape analysis. Initially, direction estimation is used to align the aircraft in same direction. Then, reconstruction based similarity measure is introduced to transform the type recognition problem into a reconstruction problem. Filtration is done for Gaussian noise removal purpose and wavelet transform is used as a feature extraction method. Fuzzy clustering is done in final to carry out segmentation on aircraft image. The performance of these used algorithms will be differentiated though precision and recall rate metrics. The experimental results illuminate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed system to recognize aircraft in satellite remote sensing images. Read More...

Power Quality Improvement using SAPF for Grid Interfaced Renewable Energy Systems
-V. Manimegalai ; V. Mohanapriya
Most of the pollution problems created in power systems are due to the non linear characteristics and quick switching of power electronic equipment. Power quality problems are getting stronger as a result of sensitive equipment will be additional sensitive for market competition reasons; equipment will continue polluting the system. Active power filters have been developed over the year to solve these problems to enhance power quality. In this paper, RES (Renewable Energy Source) is taken as solar energy is integrated with the grid to supply active power by grid interfaced inverter. Here the inverter act as the shunt active filter which is employed to eliminate harmonics, maintain at unity power factor, supply active power to the grid and compensate reactive power. The result is analysed in MATLAB as (1) Without filter in which the system integration with power electronics devices such as diode bridge rectifier and non linear load which results harmonics (ii) With filter, inverter which acts as shunt active power filter inject the current based on control algorithm. This injected current cancel harmonic current in source side and compensate the reactive power. Read More...

Design and Fabrication of Pneumatic Multipoint Grease Gun
-Surendran S ; Suganth V S E; Surya B; Kumar M
Automation in the modern world is inevitable. Any multipoint machine aimed at the economical use of man, machine, and material worth the most. Lubrication is the lifeline for any industry. Machines in various industries like textile, printing, machine tools, automobile industries and excavators are to be lubricated in order to reduce the friction created between moving parts. If machines are not properly lubricated at regular intervals they are seized thus incurring heavy losses. The manufacturers of machinery are recommended to lubricate various points at a periodic interval. The lubrication of various points of machinery is also a difficult task in industries where more number of machines have been installed and needed lubrication like printing machinery, excavators, textile machinery etc., where the number of points to be lubricated may range from 40 to 50. In the above cases, lubrications are not only a time consuming process, but also results in workman fatigue. The centralized multipoint lubricating system is used for easy and economical lubrication of multiple points from one centrally located distributor. It is designed to deliver the right amount of lubricant at the right time to every point by means of distributors connected by hoses. Read More...
