Studies on Mechanical Properties of Ternary Blended Self Compacting Concrete using Different Percentages of Recycled Aggregate
-M.Rameshbabu ; P.Rama Linga Chari
Concrete is the most widely used construction material. Inadequate compaction of concrete results in large number of voids, concrete pouring and compaction on structural element with dense reinforcement and beam column joint are difficult. Self compacting concrete (SCC) is new type of concrete that has flow ability, filling ability, passing ability and stability. Coarse aggregate is one of these factors that have a significant influence on SCC. The use of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) in any concrete is an effort of recycle waste and new development in environmental friendly concrete. Ternary blended concrete (TBC) improves strength, durability and also it is eco friendly in nature. In this research ternary blended SCC of 50 grades is designed by replacing natural coarse aggregate with recycled aggregate from roof slab of 25years old. The % replacements are 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100. Also, the cement is partially replaced with 10% Metakaolin by weight of binder. Super-plasticizer is added at a dosage of 1.0%, by cement weight, to achieve the flow characteristic of SCC. The mix that has the large slump flow is tested with V-funnel and L-box and the results are presented. Further the compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength are conducted at the age of 7days, 28days and 56days for SCC 50 grade of concrete. The results indicated that the compressive strength of 25% and 50% replaced recycled aggregate Self compacting concrete is nearly equal to natural aggregate Self Compacting Concrete at 7, 28, 56 days age of concrete. The split tensile and flexural strength of 25% replaced recycled aggregate Self compacting concrete is nearly equal to Natural aggregate Self Compacting Concrete at respective age of concrete. At all ages Flexural strength shown decrease in trend with the increase in replacement of recycled aggregate. From the research work keeping economy, eco-friendliness and compressive strength in point of view convectional aggregate can be replaced with recycle aggregate concrete by 50% in ternary blended self compacting concrete. Emotional Intelligence by Recognising Facial Expressions
-Maddi Kamal Manisha
Now a days, giving emotional intelligence to a machine will be useful to us in various fields. Emotional intelligence—the precise evaluation and articulation of feelings in oneself as well as other people and the regulation of feeling in a way that improves living envelops an arrangement of interrelated abilities and procedures. We are using so as to show Facial expressions recognition to machine PCA alongside neural systems. Facial expressions recognition can give rich emotional data to human-robot interaction. We propose a calculation for Facial expressions recognition which can group the given picture into one of the seven fundamental Facial expressions classes (happy, anger, disgust, shock, fear, neutral, surprise). PCA is utilized for dimensionality reduction as a part of information while holding those qualities of the information set that contribute most to its difference, by keeping lower-order main segments and overlooking higher-order ones. Frequency Dependent Noise Flooring Parameter (FDNFP) for Speech Enhancement using Linear Prediction
-Hate Dipanjali Pradeep ; Ghulli Mayuri Mahesh ; More Payal Ramesh
Speech enhancement aims to improve speech quality by using various algorithms. It may sound simple, but at least it should have the terms clarity and intelligibility, pleasantness, or compatibility with some other method in speech processing. An enhancement method for single-channel speech degraded by additive noise is proposed. A spectral weighting functions derived by constrained optimization to suppress noise in the frequency domain. Two design parameters are included in the suppression gain, namely, the frequency-dependent noise flooring parameter (FDNFP) and the gain factor. The FDNFP controls the level of admissible residual noise in the enhanced speech. Enhanced harmonic structures are incorporated into the FDNFP by time-domain processing of the linear prediction residuals of voiced speech. Further enhancement of the harmonics is achieved by adaptive comb filtering derived using the gain factor with a peak-picking algorithm. Moto of this paper is to reduce the background noise added in the original speech signal so that listener will able to listen the noiseless speech along with clear voice. Here, we have implemented this paper for previously recorded historical speech signal. Advantage of this paper is that we can get clear voice from the noisy one and can store the speech for long time without destroying. Read More...

Book Reader for Blind People using LabVIEW
-J. Rubamathy ; R. Dharshini; A. Kamala Sherlin
Reading plays crucial role in our daily life. But blind people cannot read due to their disability. They depend braille script for reading. Speech signal is more effective means of communication than text because even blind and visually impaired persons can respond to sounds. The visually impaired can understand text if it is converted into a speech signal. This project depicts an idea to design and book reader using LabVIEW software. The Optical Character Recognition system (OCR) is implemented using LabVIEW. OCR usually reads text from paper and translating the images in to a form that the computer can manipulate. At the outset, the OCR should be trained by giving unique character for each letter of a language (Pattern). Hence the OCR can recognize all the trained letters or pattern. The letters from the text book is acquired by the mobile phone camera and it is fed in to OCR wirelessly through droid cam wireless webcam. Then the OCR matches the input pattern (letter) with trained pattern and produces the string output (i.e.,unique character) accordingly. The string output is then processed for producing audio output. Here audio files for all the letters are already defined. Read More...

Design and Fabrication of Roboreel
-Aniket Kamble ; Vidita Raut; Rahul Rathod; Rohan Pandey; Sanjay Lohar
Gardening is one of the hobby of people. In earlier days people used small water tanks for watering plants. As technology progressed people started using pipes for watering plants. But it was one of the tedious tasks as to carry the pipe to the garden. It required a lot of human effort to carry the pipe. Pipes were damaged due to knots produced if they were not placed properly. Also it was time consuming job. To overcome this problem, reels were produced due to which the pipes were wounded manually and kept properly. But when the pipe was unwounded it took lot of effort and time to again wound the pipe manually. To overcome all this problems roboreel is designed which automatically retract the pipe so that less effort is required for wounding the pipe. A ratchet and pawl mechanism is used by which the pipe can be held at a particular length for use. Clock spring mechanism is use for automatic retraction of the pipe. By using roboreel, human effort and time require for wounding pipe will get reduce at great extent. Read More...

Enhancing the Durability Properties of Jute Fiber Concrete Composites
-P. Vijaya Kumar ; M. M. Saravanan; Dr. M. Sivaraja
In this present study contracts with the thought of fiber reinforced concrete using jute fiber. The combination of fiber in concrete is an aboriginal subject. Concrete made of cement is strong in compression but weak in tension and also this concrete has little resistance to cracking which limits its use. These restrictions can be overcome by blending the concrete with fibrous material, which is termed as fiber reinforced concrete. With the modern technology, natural fibers like jute, bamboo, wool etc. can be economically extracted from various vegetables and animals. The addition of little strictly spaced and consistently dispersed fibers will improve the overall structural performance of the concrete. Due to ever increasing quantities of waste materials from industrial, solid waste management is the major fear in the world. Lack of land-filling space and because of its ever increasing cost, recycling and utilization of industrial by-products and waste materials has become an attractive proposition to disposal. One such manufacturing by-product is Rice Husk Ash (RHA). RHA is a major by-product of rice mills and successfully used as a land filling material for many years. Also the waste disposal has become one of the major problems in modern period. Either burning or land filling techniques is used to dispose the waste. Both of these techniques are hazardous to the environment. So adding of these waste fibers and RHA in concrete could help to save the environment. In this study, Jute fibers are added 0.5% volume fraction of concrete and rice husk ash is replaced by cement at various dosages like 0, 10%, 20% and 30% in concrete. This study includes the strength characteristics of the jute fiber and rice husk ash concrete investigate the mechanical properties like compressive strength, split tensile strength. Read More...

Performance of future ignition system for internal combustion engines should be reliable and efï¬cient to enhance and sustain combustion stability, since ignition not only initiates combustion but also influences subsequent combustion. Lean burn systems have been regarded as an advanced combustion approach that could improve thermal efï¬ciency while reducing exhaust gas emissions. However, current engines cannot be operated sufï¬ciently lean due to ignition related problems such as the sluggish flame initiation and propagation along with potential misï¬ring. A high exhaust gas recircula- tion engines also has similar potential for emissions improvement. Laser ignition (LI) has been shown to offer many potential benefits compared to spark ignition (SI) for improving the performance of internal combustion (IC) engines. In general, a well-defined ignition location and ignition time is of great importance for an IC engine. Spark plugs are well suited for such tasks but suffer from disadvantages, like erosion of electrodes & inflexible or un-optimal location of spark plug. Over the conventional ignition systems, ignition of combustible materials by means of high power laser pulses could be beneficial. Because the thermodynamic requirements of a high compression ratio and a high power density are fulfilled well by laser ignition. This paper outlines the current state of the relevant knowledge on fuel ignition and discuss selected applications, advantages, in the context of combustion engines Read More...

-Prof. P. V. Sawalakhe ; Ankit R. Ghodaki; Suhas H. Chandwani; Prem Kumar; Vishal S. Madderlawar
Agriculture is a very important aspect of development. Crops are grown throughout the year and also are an important raw material for many industries like alcohol, oil, starch, beverages and others. The largest percentage of land here in India is not ideal for farming. Hence people still use conventional method for sowing and cultivating the crop instead of heavy machines because they are costly in operation, complex in maintenance. They are less popular in India, but on introducing a small, cheap and light weight solar operated machine sowing and cultivation of crop can be done efficiently and effectively. We can apply a single labour and single machine to operate on all the crops. Labour charges Rs400 per day and approximately 6 hours are needed to complete. The design of machine is simple and easy to operate. A labour pushes the reaper and a motor operated cutter cuts the maize plant about 12-14 inch from the ground and falls near the root which can be later collected and maize can be separated then gathered. Thus a large amount time and money can be saved each season and can be spent on other crops. Also this machine is less harmful to the supplementary crops grown. Read More...

Fabrication of Zero Degree Turn Four Wheel Steering System
-Chetan D. Shende ; D. A. Agrawal; Mohammed Ehtesham; Harshal M. Khobragade
Conventional steering mechanism involves either the use of Ackerman or Davis steering systems. The disadvantage associated with these systems is the minimum turning radius that is possible for the steering action. This difficulty that is associated with the conventional methods of steering is eliminated by employing a four wheel steering system. In this system, the wheels connected to the front axles are turned opposite to each other, and so are the wheels connected to the rear axle. The wheels on the on left half vehicle rotate in one direction and the ones on the right half of the vehicle rotate in the opposite direction. This arrangement of the wheels enables the vehicle to turn 360 degrees, without moving from the spot, i.e. the vehicle has zero turning radius. This helps in maneuvering the vehicle in tight spaces such as parking lots and within small compounds. Read More...

Influence of Cutting Fluid Conditions and Cutting Parameters on Material Removal Rate (MRR) in Taper Turning Process of En31
-Minal P. Kamdi ; Anup A. Junankar; Prachi M. Dehankar
The present scenario depicts many surveys that represent the machining industries using cutting fluid have more trouble in employee health as well as environmental pollution. The introduction of minimum quantity lubrication has brought disadvantages of wet machining process to been replaced by Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL). MQL is increasingly finding its way into the area of metal industries. It has already established as an alternative to conventional dry and wet machining methods. In contrast to Dry and Flood lubrication, Minimum Quantity Lubrication use only a few drops of the fluid approx. 5 ml to 100 ml per hour for the machining. The aim of the research is to determine the Minimal Quantity Lubrication (MQL) technique when used for Taper Turning process in CNC Lathe can produce remarkable advantages in Types of Chips formed during the process and the Microstructure. The work piece material that is used in the experiments is EN-31 steel while the carbide is a cutting tool material. Fluid selection is the most important part of MQL machining process; hence the quality of the fluid depends on it. Therefore a superior type such as vegetable oil or synthetic oil is used for lubrication as well as for cutting fluid for machining. The costs of these fluids are high but it eliminates the commitment of costly fluid’s recycling and disposal service. On our analysis, it was found that MQL produces better surface finish than the wet machining process and has surprisingly shown its significance which reduces the cost of the machining process and is also eco-friendly. Hence leading to safe and uninterrupted machining process. Read More...

-V. Venmathi ; Y. Divya; K. R. Hema; S. Hemalatha
This paper presents a method for detection and recognition of traffic signs. We proposed a new recognition approach of traffic signs, which has the feature of introducing automatic detection through image processing. We designed and built a prototype system by implementation of C and Open CV library. The experimental results show that our approach could have good prospects for automatic detection and recognition of traffic signs. As when human observe a traffic sign, a two-stage procedure is performed by first locating the sign according to its unique shape and color, and second paying attention to content inside the sign .In the detection module segments, the input image in a YCBCR colour space and then it detects road signs by using the image processing method. The experiment is to detect the road signs under varying lighting, rotation and translation conditions. Traffic road sign detection and recognition is important to transport system with a camera while driving in the road. This paper presents and overview the, traffic road sign detection and recognition we developed and implemented the procedure to extract the road sign natural complex image. The main objective of this paper is to design and construct a system which can automatically detect the direction of the road sign.
