-J. Prudhviraj ; P. Jagadeesh Babu
Heat exchanger is a thrust area, which required constant improvement in the performance. Recently multi-louvered plate fin heat exchangers, a kind of compact heat exchanger, have been the subject of vast research. Multi-louvered plate heat exchanger has unique advantage, in that it is easy to control fluid temperature beside the general peculiarity of compact heat exchanger; so a large number multi-louvered plate fin heat exchanger, especially plate fin heat exchanger, are used in chemical industry. In the present study, successively increased or decreased louver angle patterns are proposed and 3-D numerical analysis on heat and fluid flow are carried out. A steady-state three-dimensional numerical model was used to study the heat transfer and pressure drop characteristics of a multi-louvered compact plate fin heat exchanger. Air was the heat transfer medium, and the Reynolds number ranged from 200 to 1600. A numerical study was performed on compact fin-and-tube heat exchangers having circular tube with multilouvered fins. Air side performance for heat exchanger with and without hydrophilic coating has been studied. The pressure drops for the hydrophilic coated surface were lower than the corresponding un-coated surfaces. The heat transfer performance for the hydrophilic coating surface was found to be lower than the corresponding un-coated surface tested at the same condition. Moreover, the increase in the heat transfer performance was found to be 20% for louver angle 26º, fin pitches of 1.2 mm with hydrophilic coating. The effects of number of tube rows, fin pitch and louver angle on airside performance were analyzed. Read More...

-Jashwanti Dharia ; Pooja Tiwari; Pratik Kapdoskar; Hrushikesh Kochrekar
The solar PV modules are generally employed in tropical countries like India. Dust and dirt particles accumulating on PV panels decreases the solar energy reaching the cells, thereby reducing their overall power output. The power output reduces as much as by 50% if the module is not cleaned for a month. Hence, cleaning the PV panels is a problem of great practical engineering interest in solar PV power generation. In this paper, the problem is reviewed and methods for dust removal are discussed. In order to regularly clean the dust, an automatic cleaning system has been designed, which senses the dust on the solar panel and also cleans the module automatically. This automatic system helps in maintaining the overall output of the solar firm. For cleaning the PV modules, a mechanism consists of a sliding brushes has been developed. In terms of daily energy generation, the presented automatic-cleaning scheme provides about 30% more energy output when compared to the dust accumulated PV module (module kept stationary on ground). -Mitul K Chovatiya ; Yogesh V. Akbari; Shradhha R. Vaniya
The delegated concrete works could promote structure failure after earthquake. Compaction and pouring of concrete on element of structure with dense reinforcement and structural joint like beam column joint are difficult. So the self-compacted concrete is a better solution for this problem. Use of self-compacted concrete that has flow ability, filling ability and passing ability is better than the normal concrete. On this research using of roof tile powder in self-compacted concrete give better workability and also strength of self-compacted concrete. The roof tile powder is easily available in Indian villages. The possibility of using roof tile powder (RTP) with fly ash for partial replacement of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) will explore in this research. An experimental study is made by preparing specimens by utilizing roof tile powder (RTP) as partial replacement of ordinary Portland cement in Self compacted concrete with a percentage replacement from 0% to 50% i.e. (0%, 10%, 25%, 30%, 40% and 50%) . The super plasticizer is added in Self compacted concrete. Test on fresh concrete is slump spread for all trial mixes. The mix that has the largest slump spread is tested with V-funnel and L-shaped box. Conventional specimens are also prepared for M30 and M35 grade Concrete without using RTP and fly ash. By conducting tests for both the specimens the properties of concrete will be investigate. Study and Strength Analysis of Fiber Reinforced Concrete
-Sikandar Shakil ; Lollo Chande; Eyasu H; Mahaboob Patel
Concrete is a composite material composed of fine and coarse aggregate bonded together with a fluid cement (cement paste) that hardens over time. The cement reacts chemically with the water and other ingredients to form a hard matrix that binds the materials together into a durable stone-like material that has many uses. The resulting material is a brittle material which is strong in compression but very weak in tension. This weakness in the concrete makes it to crack under small loads, at tension end. These cracks gradually propagate to the compression end of the member and finally, the member breaks. The formation of creaks in the concrete may also occur due to the drying shrinkage. To increase the strength of concrete many attempts have been made. One of the commonly used methods is providing Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC). Today the construction industry is in need of finding cost effective materials for increasing the strength of concrete structures. Hence an attempt has been made in the present investigations to study the influence of addition of waste materials like waste steel powder & soft drink bottle caps, empty waste tin from workshop at a dosage of 1% of total weight of concrete as fibers. The present paper reviews the literature related to the utilization of waste material and its various effects on compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength and workability of concrete. The steel powder, empty tins, soft drink bottle caps were deformed into the rectangular strips of 3mm width and 10mm length. Read More...

-Ashutosh Dauneriya ; Hirendra Pratap Singh; Rakesh Sakale; Govind Singh Solanki
Recycled aggregates are composed of crushed concrete, inert particles processed from the materials that have been already used in the structural constructions and demolition (C & D) debris. The aim of this project is to determine the strength characteristics of recycled aggregates for application in high strength structural concrete, which will give a better understanding on the properties of concrete with recycled aggregates, as an alternative material to coarse aggregate (NA) in structural concrete. The aim of this thesis is to determine and compare the strength of concrete by using different percentage of recycled aggregates. Recycled aggregate is also the type of artificial aggregate which is obtained from Construction and demolition (C&D) wastes. Constructions and demolitions are processes that go one after the other. The demolished building aggregate in India generally goes to waste in landfill operation. Recycling of these waste materials from building demolition can provide a solution to this problem. The investigation was carried out using Specific gravity test, Water absorption test, Aggregate Impact Value test, Crushing value test, Sieve analysis test, Workability test and Compressive strength test. There were total of six batches of concrete mixes, consisting of every 20% increment of recycled aggregate replacement, from 0% to 100%. Read More...

Auto Switching of any Available Phase in a Three Phase Supply System
-Nathu Ram Galwa ; Neeraj Kumar; Md. Zawed Ansari; Narendra Kumar Meena; Pramjeet Singh
This paper presents the analysis of the concepts and algorithms of Auto Switching of any Available Phase in a Three Phase Supply System. Power failure is a common problem. It happens generally. It is often noticed that power interruption in distribution system is about 70% for single phase fault while the other two phases are in normal condition. So we can take power by other phases by manual switching of the system to other phase. But it is time consuming as certain time is required to switch onto the other phase i.e. power is interrupted for certain time. Thus this system is useful in any commercial or domestic power supply system where three phases are available and automatic phase switching system is required for uninterrupted power to critical loads in the event of power failure in any phase. The main aim of this paper is to present the real idea of an automatic phase switch for 220V alternating current. Although, there are many designs that can perform almost similar functions. But this model is about an automatic phase changeover which is designed for only three phase AC input power to single phase output application. The benefit of this work is that the time required for switching between the phases have been drastically reduced, more automatic operation with the elimination of selector switch and the problem of sparking between the selector switch and the phase connection does not arise. -Katari Ravi ; Y Mahesh
This research investigates the influence of Grade of Parent Concrete on the physical and mechanical properties of Recycled Aggregates and Recycled Aggregate Concrete. Various grades i.e., M20, M25, M30, M35 and M40 were selected as parent concrete. Cubes of Parent Concrete were crushed in laboratory using a Jaw Crusher. Ordinary Portland cement, Natural Sand, Natural Coarse Aggregate and Recycled Aggregates were used as materials for Recycled Aggregate Concrete. Two stage Mixing approach (TSMA) is adopted for better performance of Recycled Aggregate Concrete. Water – Cement (w/c) ratio is kept constant at 0.45 for all recycled aggregate concrete mixes. The recycled aggregate concrete specimens are tested for 7 and 28 days. The present research assesses the cement mortar remains and categorizes the recycled aggregate using a classification system called CSAggregate index ranging from 0 to 100. CSAggregate index result shows that the adhered mortar increases with increase in grade of parent concrete. The physical and mechanical properties of recycled aggregates are lower than natural aggregates. Recycled aggregate concrete can achieve compressive strength of natural aggregate concrete. A Review on the Walls in Soft Story Building Roof Displacement of Multi Storey Building
-Abhishek Shankar ; Dr. Ajay Swarup
This paper presents a review of the experimental efforts also as modeling approaches to review estimate typical variations in magnification factor of a midrise open ground storey building accounting for the variability of compressive strength and modulus of elasticity of infill walls with various infill arrangements so that it can help designers facing trouble with heavy designs for a structure of mid-size, with the given material properties, geometry and loadings in particular. The paper investigates Equivalent static analysis (ESA) and Response spectrum analysis (RSA) is considered for the comparative study. The building will be analyzed for two different cases: i) considering infill mass but without considering infill stiffness. ii) Considering both infill mass and infill stiffness. From the study Expected outcome have found that building with soft storey will exhibit poor performance during a strong shaking. But the open ground storey is an important functional requirement of almost all the urban multi-storey buildings and hence cannot be eliminated. Alternative measures need to be adopted for this specific situation. The under-lying principle of any solution to this problem is in i) increasing the stiffness of the ground storey; ii) provide adequate lateral strength in the ground storey. The possible schemes to avoid the vulnerability of open ground storey buildings under earthquake forces can be by providing stiff columns in open ground storey buildings or by providing adjacent infill walls at each corner of soft ground storey buildings. Hybrid Approach for Secure Authorized Deduplication in Cloud Computing
-Vignesh S
Data reduplication is one of important data density techniques for eliminating duplicate copies of repeating data, and has been widely used in cloud storage to reduce the amount of storage space and save bandwidth. To protect the confidentiality been proposed to encrypt the data before outsourcing. To better protect data security, this paper makes the first attempt to formally address the problem of authorized data reduplications. Different from traditional reduplication systems, the differential privileges of users are further considered in duplicate check besides the data itself. We also present several new deduplication constructions supporting authorized duplicate check in hybrid cloud architecture. Security analysis demonstrates that our system is safe in terms of the definitions specified in the proposed security model. As a proof of concept, we implement a prototype of our proposed authorized duplicate check scheme and conduct tested experiments using our prototype. We show that our proposed authorized duplicate check scheme incurs minimal overhead compared to normal operations. Read More...

Zigbee based Image Transfer using Steganography
-K. Bhuvaneshwari
In There has been an abundance in media communication thanks to the advancements in the semiconductor technology and telecommunication services worldwide. We indulge into some type of image and video transfer almost on a daily basis. The security of the digital images over communication media, hence becomes one of the important aspects. Cryptography provides a solution to this problem. However, cryptography requires more processing power and memory. Lightweight cryptography another version of cryptography was suggested in constrained environments such as RFID tags, sensors, contactless smart cars and healthcare devices. It had the disadvantage that the sensitive information is in unreadable format, attackers may still be able to uncover or decrypt it with sufficient time or processing power. As an alternative, steganography, which hides the secret message i.e. image inside the cover image can be used as an alternative security mechanism for transferring the data in a secure manner. Several image steganography techniques have been used on low processing power devices, such as embedded devices and mobile phones for hiding the data. As well as, is a method to make confidential information and messages undetectable and prevent hackers from detecting them, thus preferable over cryptography based techniques. In this research work, a steganography based method to transfer images securely across a Zigbee transceiver complying IEEE 805.14 WPAN standards has been implemented. The steganography technique used for this research work is a modified Least Significant Bit technique. Read More...

Laboratory Model Tests on Tyre Chips-Aggregate Columns
-Leema Albert ; Niranjana K.
The stone column technique is a very efficient method of improving the strength parameters of soil like bearing capacity and reducing consolidation settlement. It offers a much economical and sustainable alternative to piling and deep foundation solutions. Ground improvement when implemented through stone column technique aids in a much stable solution to construction in weak cohesive soils. Considering the cost aspect of stone column, the major portion owes to the cost of stone aggregates. Stone aggregates are scarce, natural resource and it is diminishing. Hence it is advisable to use some other cheaper material which can replace the stones without affecting the performance of stone column. This paper involves the study of load - settlement response of stone columns in which aggregates are partially replaced by shredded tyre chips. The variation in load carrying capacity of stone columns with different mix proportion of aggregates and shredded tyre chips are also determined. The results indicate that waste tyre chips can be effectively used as partial replacement of stone aggregates. Read More...

A Survey on Single Relay Selection for Co-operative Communication in Free Space Optical Communication
-Vishal P. Jariwala ; Mayank B. Gandhi
Multipath fading is one of the major obstacles for next generation wireless networks which limit the bandwidth requirement of services. There are many techniques found in literature to overcome the issues of multipath fading. However, co-operative communication is the major technique that has gained importance due to its ability to reduce fading. Co-operative communication is based on the relay selection technique using the channel state information at the source and relays. The main of relay based scheme is to achieve higher bandwidth efficiency. However, if the direct link between source to destination is proper and of high quality than there is no requirement to have relay based selection technique. The work in this thesis proposes a methodology to select optimal number of relays in order to achieve better transmission efficiency. Optical wireless communication (OWC) refers to transmission in unguided propagation media through the use of optical carriers, i.e., visible, infrared (IR), and ultraviolet (UV) bands. Read More...

A Survey on Analysis of Fade and Dissolved Effect in Gradual Video Transition using Different Transform Technique
-Hiren D. Shukla ; Ankit Patel
In current digital environment video is very important element in broadcasting, education, military intelligence. In video detection of fade and dissolve effect from the retrieval of frame of image or particular object are extracted with full brightest and black (blank information) frames like maximum and minimum values of detected frame structure. And based on that presence of particular object or scene is detected, fade-in and fade-out can be calculated. Here in this project concentration is on how much fade & dissolve type frames are required to see the two different frame detection by DWT technique. Because in recent world most of the data is in compressed form so here in this project concentration is made on retrieval numbers of scenes (frames) in compressed domain. This can be achieve with the help of mean and variance of each frame by comparing with the previous frame's mean and variance which are found using DWT and be able to identify how many such frames are there in a video required to keep look like a same scenes as of previous, both are connected, looks like one shot. Transition from darker to brighter scene and vice a versa is detected using mean of successive frame. Mean of all frames of successive frame are to be compared and from that transition is detected. Design and Implementation of Dc-Dc Resonant Boost Converter using PI Controller
-Yoghasree S ; Nevethitha
The need for DC-DC converters is increasing day by day. There are several types of DC-DC converters that have been introduced in the recent years. Among these the non-inverting buck- boost converters are used to step-up or step-down the input voltage based on the requirements. But these converters have high switching losses and hence its efficiency is reduced. In order to overcome these switching losses resonant converters are used. The resonant converters are more efficient than the ordinary buck-boost converters. By operating the resonant circuit above or below the resonant frequency, Zero Voltage Switching and Zero Current Switching of MOSFETs are possible. These types of switching methodologies reduce the switching losses. Thus the overall efficiency of the resonant converter is high when compared to the buck-boost converters. In this project, MATLAB simulation of closed loop control of LCLC DC-DC resonant the resonant converter is done using PI controller and their performance is analyzed. Read More...
