Investigation of Stress Concentration Factor of Composite for Bending Specimen using Polariscope
-Poornachandra D C ; Prajwal S K ; Madan Gopal P; Shashidhar Hugar ; Pradeep Kumar Ilay
This paper presents the experimental estimation of stresses in the epoxy based material for varying weight percentage of copper particles using Photoelasticity method. The study deals with the stress distribution within the diametrical disc under compression loading which uses the property birefringence. Photoelasticity method used to calculate the stresses for the intricate shapes models where the analytical solutions are too complex. The significance of the method is to do the variety of stress analyses and even for routine use in design, particularly before the advent of numerical methods, such as for instance finite elements or boundary elements. It is very important for the engineer to be aware of the effects of stress raisers such as notches, Holes or sharp corners in his/her design work. Stress concentration effects in machine parts and Structures can arise from internal holes or voids created in the casting or forging process, from excessively sharp corners or fillets at the shoulders of stepped shafts, or even from punch marks left during layout work or during inspection of parts. The photo-elastic method has been employed to determine stress concentration factor (SCF) for square plates containing circular hole, elliptical hole, and crack model when the plate edges are subjected to in-plane tension combined with compression. Analyses given of the isochromatics fringe pattern surrounding the hole provides the SCF conveniently. The model material is calibrated from the known solution to the stress raiser arising from a small circular hole in a plate placed under biaxial tension-compression. These results also compare well with a plane stress FE analysis. Consequently, photo-elasticity has enabled SCF’s to be determined experimentally for a biaxial stress ratio, nominally equal to –4, in plates containing a long, thin slot arranged to be in alignment with each stress axis. The two, principal stresses lying along axes of symmetry in the region surrounding the notch are separated within each isochromatics fringe. FE provides a comparable full-field view in which contours of maximum shear stress may be identified with the isochromatics fringe pattern directly. The principal stress distributions referred to the plate axes show their maximum concentrations at the notch boundary. Here up to a fourfold magnification occurs in the greater of the two nominal stresses under loads applied to the plate edges. Thus, it is of importance to establish the manner in which the tangential stress is distributed around the slot boundary. Conveniently, it is shown how this distribution is also revealed from an isochromatics fringe pattern, within which lie the points of maximum tension and maximum compression. Read More...

With increase in the number of accidents, the automotive industry always strive for measures to improve safety of passenger vehicles at high speeds. Proper orientation of spoiler gives maximum down-force with least drag-force .The aerodynamic performance of Formula-One car is determined by measuring the drag-force and down-force acting on the car. Various geometric models of the car are created in the CAD package CREO 2. The CFD analysis is done by using ANSYS CFX. It shows the flow pattern over the car. The behavior of the flow is greatly influenced by the spoilers which were simulated with the rear end of car and therefore the design has to take into account the environment of the spoilers. The spoilers demonstrate their utilities as deflectors that are able to deflect the flow downward. Read More...

-Devesh Sinha ; Alok Verma
In this paper, 3-D star tree model of solar panel is introduced. Here, the step up motor is controlled by raspberry pi microcontroller to automate or synchronize the whole system with the position of the sun to gain maximum energy. It is well known that Sun is the greatest energy source for earth but we are unable to utilize it effectively and efficiently. In this paper we employ photovoltaic (PV) cell for converting solar energy into electric energy. Nowadays, PV cells made of semiconductor materials like crystalline silicon, thin film and multi-junction solar cell, are used which are cost effective and highly efficient. In India, there are number of sunny hours per year. We receive solar radiation in a range of 4 to 7 kWh/m2/day, but people do not have much space to install the solar energy plant and hence they are not able to utilize the solar energy effectively which is the main reason that electricity is the major problem. In this paper the Design of our solar tree model is bio-inspired so that solar panel can absorb more sunlight similar to the leaves of a natural tree. The spiral arrangement of leaves on the stem or the branch is called Phyllotaxy. The leaves spiral around the stem or the branch in a regular pattern hence the design is called solar tree. Implementation of AMBA AHB Bus Arbiter using Amalgamate Algorithm
-Gulab Singh Yadav ; Deepika Soni
On Chip Bus Architecture play a very important role in SOC system. Now days there are many on chip bus architecture are provided by different company. One of the most popular is advance microcontroller bus architecture which is popularly known as AMBA 1.0. AMBA have an advantage that it is open specification i.e. AMBA serve as a framework for system on chip design. In System On chip, problem arises when number of master trying to sense a single data bus. Then resolutions of a required become a big issue. The overall system performance depends upon the ability of system to resolve this resolution problem. The AMBA protocol use logical assignment of chance to different masters according to their priority to take over the bus for data transmission. AMBA architecture defines three specifications. They are advance high performance bus (AHB), advance peripheral bus (APB) and advance system bus (ASB). Among all three specification AHB have high bandwidth and this make AHB as first choice for system designer. While resolving the problem of priority resolution, arbiter plays an important role. Arbiter is a digital circuit and it working is depends upon the arbitration algorithm used. According to arbitration algorithm, arbiter decides to give grant to heights priority master to access bus. In this project we design arbitration algorithm, according to it arbiter give grant to different masters. Read More...

Impact of Eucalyptus Oil and Diesel Mixture on Engine Performance in a Four Stroke Single Cylinder Engine Operation
-Rakesh Kumar ; Santosh Kumar
The energy consumption of the world has been increasing with industrial growth. The fossil fuel is going to be exhausted in future because of limited reserve and it is estimated that by 2050 the 80% of reserve will be exhausted. Also various problem of emission of pollutant gases in environment is another issue .The other conventional resource like nuclear fuel is costly and big problem in the safe utilization. In view of the fast depletion of fossil fuel, the search for alternative fuels has become inevitable, looking at huge demand of diesel for transportation sector, agriculture sector, commercial sector, industrial sector and power generation sector, the biodiesel is being viewed a substitute of diesel. Therefore, in this research paper the eucalyptus oil which is high octane biomass derived fuel is mixed with diesel in different proportions by volume and used as fuel in four stroke single cylinder diesel engine. The performance and emission characteristics of the engine were studied. The results show the reduction in consumption of fuel as the brake specific fuel consumption was found to decrease. While the emission parameters were also improved, emissions were significantly reduces as the load was increasing. The brake specific fuel consumptions of the engine were studied. It has been investigated that BSFC for Eu100A and Eu100B just in case of Eucalyptus biodiesel was 8.18% and 4.05% below the given fuel for maximum load, which shows that lesser quantity of B100 produce power the same as diesel. Also the factor affecting engine performance using biodiesel like engine wear, engine power, deposits and clogging were studied. Read More...

Embedded Based Potholes and Humps Mapping Using Android Application
-Shazia Shaikh ; Jitendra Kumar Singh
Potholes and humps have been known to be a major nuisance in roadside transportation, especially in India. Due to the significant weather fluctuations we experience, these potholes evidently are more severe. Identification of these potholes and humps not only helps drivers to avoid accidents or vehicle damages, but also helps authorities to maintain roads. This paper discusses the mapping of Potholes and humps which assists the driver in avoiding potholes on the roads, by giving him prior warnings. If the driver is approaching a pothole or hump or driver may be warned in advanced regarding what road has how many potholes. Ultrasonic sensors are used to identify the potholes and humps and also to measure their depth and height, respectively. The proposed system captures the geographical location coordinates of the potholes and humps using a global positioning system receiver. The sensed-data includes pothole depth, height of hump, and geographic location, which is stored in the database. Read More...

RCC chimneys are the industrial structures which are built to the greater heights as tall slender structures. Chimneys are used in the industries as the medium to pass the poisonous and highly contaminated gases to the greater heights at the atmosphere, with sufficient velocities. Thus being tall and slender structures, chimneys are more vulnerable to the wind load and earth quake loads which may cause a severe problems specially in the sensitive organizations like nuclear power plant and major other industries. Hence this project is carried out to understand the behavior and action of the wind component i.e. along wind loads and seismic load for various zones. And also the typed of chimney cross-section, which is more efficient and stable for the particular height. Read More...

-Dhiraj Durge ; Prof. Vijay More; Nikhil Deokar; Ajit Gawade; Yogesh Pujari
Now a day’s, wi-fi networks are widely used in university data programs, along with banking and military applications such as battlefield surveillance such networks are used in many industrial and consumer applications, such as industrial process monitoring and control, machine health monitoring, and so on. Wireless networks are greater liable to eavesdropping, change, impersonation and replaying attacks than the wired networks. A lot of work has been done to secure wireless networks. The existing solutions can protect the user data during transmission, but cannot stop the inside attack where the administrator of the user database reveals the sensitive user data. Our proposed system is practical approach to prevent the inside attack by using multiple data servers to store user data. Moreover securely distributing the user data in multiple data servers and employing the Advanced Encryption Standard to perform statistical analysis on the user data without compromising the user privacy, is the another major factor of concern. Smart Bartering System
-Deepthi. E ; Prof. Phaniram Prasad
Bartering means giving an item or a service with the opposite person and getting another item or a service in return with no monetary transactions involved in the process. The drawback was that the exchange was restricted to a particular area where known people exchange in a way which benefits both the parties. Bartering in combination with technology can make the exchange of goods possible all over the world. Similarly, book exchange is the practice of exchanging books between two parties. In general, the exchange would be among known group of people, user can find out about new books and obtain a new book to read without involving monetary transactions. Since the swaps occur between two individuals, other’s who are equally in need of those books especially students may not be able to get a book when needed. Smart Barter System is the solution to this problem. N number of users can download the same book, audio or video at the same time. The user must upload a book, video lecture or an audio lecture to the central repository and only then he can download any one of the above respectively as required by the individual within a very less time , may be few minutes Read More...

-Ganesh L. Attarde ; Ganesh L. Attarde; Suneet S. Khare; Vini J. Gajjar; Pratik S. Patil
It is quite normal to forget things from time to time and it is normal to become somewhat more forgetful as we age. But forgetting things might lead us in missing something important, either an event, a task, an important day or carrying an essential thing for our day out. These memory problems are normal and are termed as 'Transience' & 'Absentmindedness'. So there is need of Artificial Intelligence and IoT based Reminder system that will not only remind us about anything but also will keep us updated with recent news. It will make us aware about missed calls and will help us follow our daily routine. So to avoid such kind of problems ‘Smart Reminder Systems’ has proposed. Multipurpose Adroit Reminder System (M.A.R.S) is focusing on giving a helping hand to the people in their day to day activities like setting alarms, reminders, notifications and interactive voice system. Review focuses on the various technologies used in the smart home concepts. The main thing which lacks in many of the systems is IoT. Thus it would be ideal if you do not forget things, but sadly it is not always that easy, since many causes like stress, tension, hurry and many more. Read More...

Solving Non-Linear Problem in Linear Way - A Data Science Perspective
-Ankur Tutlani
In this paper, we discuss about the tradeoff between using non-linear regression algorithms and linear regression algorithm for non-linear problems. This tradeoff arises because non-linear regression algorithms are difficult to explain and implement in the production environment but provide better accuracy. On the other hand, linear regression algorithm is easy to explain to the business and implement in the production environment but has relatively less accuracy in case of non-linear regression problems. The paper starts with defining non-linear regression problem and proceeds with explaining how to solve non-linear regression problem using linear regression by transforming the feature space. The paper concludes with illustrating some of the methods which can help achieve better accuracy from applying linear regression algorithm to the non-linear regression problem. Read More...
