Structural engineers are facing the challenge of striving for the most efficient and economical design solution while ensuring that the final design of a building must be serviceable for its intended function, habitable for its occupants and safe over its design life-time. A Building of mixed Construction , in which the Structure is partly concrete and partly Structural Steel have been built for many years in many parts of the world. In general, this type of construction consists of either steel frames with concrete encasement or structure in which shear wall, tube frame, or other major components are concrete while the remainder of the framing is steel. A New form of mix construction in which five stories steel structure is stacked on top of a five story concrete structure. A RCC medium rise building of 10 stories with floor height 3.5m subjected to earthquake loading in V Zone has been considered. The variation of seismic response of mix construction building depending on various analysis methods namely Equivalent static method, Response spectra method and Time history method are evaluated and compared. This study examines G+10 stories buildings of R.C.C., Steel, & Mix Construction are analyzed and design under effect of wind and earthquake using ETABS. All three models are analyzed & designed by response spectra analysis & it proves that Mix Construction Frame building is satisfied the all result. Analytical results are compared to achieve the most suitable resisting system & economic structure against the lateral forces. Read More...

Analysis of Photovoltaic System using Particle Swarm Optimization Method to Reduce THD
-Jayesh Ramesh Mahajan ; Dr. P. V. Thakre
The PV system exhibits a nonlinear power-voltage characteristic, its maximum power point (MPP) varies with irradiance and temperature. Under various conditions, it is possible to have multiple local maxima in some cases, but overall there is only one true MPP. This not only affects the power output of the PV systems, but also leads to complexity and reliability problems. Traditional methods are difficult to find the true MPP fast and accurately. Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is more suitable to reduce the steady state oscillations present in the current and voltage waveform at the output of the inverter. A modified soft computing technique called particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) is used to improve the switching of the inverter. This PSO based control algorithm along with PI controller is developed in MATLAB, which generates an error voltage and it is analysed using PSO based controller in order to improve the switching. In this paper PV system is analysed without using PSO as well as using PSO. It is concluded that while using PSO, improved current and voltage waveforms are observed which are responsible to reduce steady state oscillations in the system. FFT analysis is also done which shows that Total Harmonic Distortion (IEEE Std.519) due to the use of PSO based controller are within the acceptable limits defined by IEEE standards. It improves the reliability of the system. Read More...

Hyperloop Design for Transportation
-Prof. Pankaj P. Awate ; Prof. S. K. Pisal; Prof. N. D. Patil; Prof. S. P. Shinde
Existing conventional modes of transportation of people consists of four unique types: rail, road, water, and air. These modes of transport tend to be either relatively slow (i.e., road and water), expensive (i.e., air), or a combination of relatively slow and expensive (i.e., rail). Hyperloop is a new mode of transport that seeks to change paradigm by being both fast and inexpensive for people and goods. Hyperloop is also unique in that it is an open design concept, similar to Linux. Feedback is desired from the community that can help advance the Hyperloop design and bring it from concept to reality. In this study, the initial route, preliminary design, and logistics of the Hyperloop transportation system have been derived. The system consists of capsules that travel between Los Angeles, California and San Francisco, California. The total trip time is approximately half an hour, with capsules departing as often as every 30 seconds from each terminal and carrying 28 people each. This gives a total of 7.4 million people each way that can be transported each year on Hyperloop. The total cost of Hyperloop in this analysis is under $6 billion USD. Amortizing this capital cost over 20 years and adding daily operational costs gives a total of about $20 USD (in current year dollars) plus operating costs per one-way ticket on the passenger Hyperloop. Fabrication of Polymeric Heart Valve using Polyurethane
-Ms. B. Uthra ; Mrs. A. Martina Jenitha; Ms. M. Nanthini
Over a decade, cardiac defect plays a vital role in young adults on frequent basis. The major cause is due to thrombosis, calcification, stress induced and deposition of fats on the aortic valves. The occurrence of defect is mainly on aortic and bicuspid valves as it blocks the blood flow from heart to other parts of the body. To remove the blocks arising from these valves, prosthetic valve replacement had born to become a saviour. At first, the prosthetic valves were designed mechanically or biologically to overcome this defects. However, such valves lead to patient risks, including thrombosis, coagulation, reduced flexibility due to hydrolysis reaction and limited valve durability. To resolve that polymeric heart valves are stepped in to healthcare with a better resolution. These polymeric heart valves are designed with simple technique on having di-isocyanate and diol as a major product with additives that runs as a catalyst. In our project, Polyurethane based material is preferred to design a polymeric heart valves. These polyurethane based polymeric heart valves have good hemodynamic performance, improved biocompatibility and biostability good durability with fatigue stress resistance and cost effective. Plasmonic waveguides can guide light along metal–dielectric interfaces. The ability of plasmonic waveguides to guide light within nano-scale structures beyond the diffraction limit has attracted lot of researchers to exploit its various properties. However plasmonic waveguides are restricted from practical applications because of large propagation loss associated with it. On the other hand dielectric waveguides having weaker mode confinement and low propagation losses. Hybrid plasmonic waveguides is the combination of these two guiding techniques, allow one to utilize the benefits of both technologies. In the recent years there has been work on new technologies for wave guiding is done. In this work we will compare various characteristics (propagation length, mode area) of different plasmonic waveguides. Read More...

Design and Analysis of Impeller Angle Change
-K. Kasiviswanathan ; Asai Thambi; Manoj Prabhakar; S. Karthik
In this study, dynamic analysis of an impeller with load on each paddle was performed by using FEM. The commercial finite element package ANSYS version 14.5 was used for the solution of the problem. An impeller is a rotating component of a pump, made of gun metal which transfers energy from the motor that drives the pump to the fluid being pumped by accelerating the fluid outwards from the center of rotation. The velocity achieved by the impeller transfers into pressure when the outward movement of the fluid is confined by the pump casing. Impellers are usually short cylinders with an open inlet (called an eye) to accept incoming fluid, vanes to push the fluid radially, and a splined, keyed or threaded bore to accept a drive-shaft. The optimization of impeller angle of 350, 400 and 450, taking into consideration of forces acting on each paddle of the impeller, the deformation, strain and stress are tabulated. And here we are studying about the impeller as well as developing our skills in software like Creo and Ansys. Read More...

Voltage Sag Mitigation by Parasitic Boost Circuit
-Mr. Pramod V Chaudhary ; Prof. Alka Thakur
Many customer power devices have been proposed to mitigate such voltage sags for sensitive loads. The most studied voltage regulator topologies can generally categorized into two groups: the inverter-based regulator and direct ac–ac converters. Series-connected devices (SD) are voltage-source inverter-based regulators and an SD compensate for voltage sags by injecting a missing voltage in series with the grid. There are lots of SD topologies, and key features related to the evaluation of a certain SD topology are the cost, complexity, and compensation ability. Dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) is a commonly used SD and has been widely studied. Different types of DVRs are discussed. Four typical DVR system topologies are investigated and experimentally compared. The overall evaluation has shown that DVR with no storage and load-side-connected shunt converter ranks the highest as it can compensate for long-duration deep sags at a relatively low complexity and cost. -Vignesh M ; Rajesh T M
Cloud computing is an innovative proficiency in the field of information and expertise. It provides so many things in terms of “As-A-Service†basis. Cloud Computing is the basically visualization of computing as a utility, where customers can tenuously store up their data into the cloud so as to benefit from the on-request services from a collective pool of configurable computing assets. In recent day with increasing the population of data in whole world, the cloud storage space requirement is also increasing rapidly. The main advantage of using cloud storage is, customer can reduce their expenditure for purchasing and maintain the storage area, but they have to use the cloud in optimized manner. In this work, we propose a cost proficient multi-cloud for the data with high data availability. The proposed work contains two principle works; the first is selecting a few reasonable cloud storage providers and a fitting repetition procedure to store information with minimalized monetary cost and guaranteed data availability. The second is setting up a redundant storage method to re-distribute the data among different available data access patterns and cloud pricing models. The proposed technique not just saves around 20 percent of monetary cost additionally shows comprehensive flexibility to information and value changes. Read More...

Accurate and Efficient Diagnosis of Brain Tumour Disease using Kernel Support Vector Machine
-Mary Jacob ; Aswin Herbert Sathish
Brain tumor often recognized to be a generation of abnormal cells within brain. Brain tumor needs to be diagnosed accurately for the proper decision making about the disease occurrence, so that appropriate treatment on time can be provided to the patients. However analyzing and diagnosing the brain tumor from the imbalanced data set would be more difficult process which needs to handled very carefully for the accurate brain tumor diagnosis. Physiological data of patients are the primary and vital entities in healthcare big data analytic. Hence, valid raw data must be collected with an efficient manner in a medical environment. In the existing research work, Integrated feature Selection and Ensemble Classification (IFSEC) is introduced which attempts to accurately predict the brain tumor disease. However, handling large volume of data in the single machine would lead to inaccurate and wrong diagnosis of brain tumor disease which needs to be handled with more concern for the accurate output. This is resolved in the proposed research method by introducing novel method namely Accurate Prediction of Brain Tumor Disease from Big Data Framework (APBTD-BDF). To make ease of large volume of data handling process, in the proposed research work, content aware partitioning is introduced which attempts to divide the health care big data into multiple partitions which can be scheduled on different machines for the classification purpose. To improve the classification accuracy in this research low variance filtering approach is introduced for the selection of the more important features. Classification is done by using Kernel Support Vector Machine (KSVM) approach whose performance is tested based 10 fold cross validation technique. The overall research method is implemented in the MATLAB simulation environment from which it can be proved that the proposed research method can effectively handle the large volume of data and it can predict the brain tumor disease more accurately. Thermal Analysis of Wire Electrical Discharge Machining
-Shashi Kant ; Dr. Vandana Somkuwar
New developments in the machining of materials have become a hard task for Electrical Wire Discharge Machining process used for machining an alternative material in future. Wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) is widely used in machining of conductive materials when precision is considered as a prime importance. This is an electro-thermal non-traditional machining process, where electrical energy is used to create the electrical spark and material removal takes place due to thermal erosion of work piece due to spark discharge. This work proposes a three dimensional finite element model using ANSYS software and new approach to predict the temperature distribution at different pulse time as well as stress distribution in wire. A transient thermal analysis assuming a Gaussian distribution heat source with temperature-dependent material properties are being used to investigate the temperature distribution and stress distribution. Thermal stress developed after the end of the spark and residual stress developed after subsequent cooling is measured. The effect on significant machining parameter pulse-on-time and optimum diameter of wire tool for performance are going to be investigated. Read More...

Effect on Surface Roughness and Tool Wear during Turning of AISI 1020 Steel using Coated Carbide Inserts
-Neralla Dheera ; Dr. P. Prasanna
The prediction of tool wear and surface roughness before machining has become an important task for the industry to be able to control and optimise the machining parameters effectively. In this paper the average surface temperature of the work-piece is obtained from the simulation model developed using DEFORM software. The work-piece used was AISI 1020 STEEL and the coated carbide tool insert was CNMG 432 TT 5100. The simulation model was validated by measuring temperature while machining. The surface roughness of the work-piece is then predicted using this DEFORM temperature as a parameter along with cutting speed, feed and depth of cut by using RSM Methodology. The experimental values and predicted values of surface roughness, tool wear comply with in the permissible interval. Optimisation of the values is done using Integrated PCA-Taguchi method. Results showed that surface roughness, tool wear were influenced the most by feed rate. Therefore the simulation model developed can be used for accurately forecasting the surface roughness for a given set of parameters. Read More...

-Md Rehan ; Chitra Nayak; Nadeem Dhalayat; Mallikarjun H S; Niyaz Dafedar
Glass is one of the oldest and the most widely used materials in the world. Glass has a very limited life in the form in which it is used. One option for safe environmental and economic disposal of this waste is to reuse them in building materials. So glass has to be recycled or reused to avoid environmental problems. Also during the past few decades the availability and cost of river sand has become a major concern. The objective of this project work is to study the effects of using waste glass as a partial replacement for fine aggregate and steel slag as a partial replacement of coarse aggregate. Different concrete mixes were prepared by varying the amounts for crushed waste glass. The waste glass was used to replace fine aggregate in the proportions of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%,50%. Property like compressive strength have been reviewed in this paper. Another attempt has also been made to replace coarse aggregate with steel slag as there is a growing interest in using waste materials as alternative aggregate materials and significant research is made on the use of many different materials as aggregate substitutes such as coal ash, blast furnace slag and steel slag aggregate. This type of use of a waste material can solve problems of lack of aggregate in various construction sites and reduce environmental problems related to aggregate mining and waste disposal. Different concrete mixes were prepared by varying the amounts for steel slag. The steel slag was replaced as a partial replacement of coarse aggregate in the proportion of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%.and compressive strength of concrete has been reviewed and yet another attempt has been made by replacing both fine aggregate and coarse aggregate by waste glass powder and steel slag respectively, and studying the compressive strength of concrete. Color Image Enhancement with CLAHE based DC Coefficients Scaling in LAB Color Space
-Prabhakar Tiwari ; Shailendra Patel
The low cost cameras usually capture the low contrast color images which are differ than the brightness of the original scene. This is because of non-uniform scene illumination, blur due to long shutter time of low cost cameras, and may be due to occlusion or shadows. Therefore many contrast enhancement methods for true color image enhancement are designed in past. In this paper a new methodology for image enhancement is proposed by combining the contrast limited adaptive histogram equalization (CLAHE) method with the DC coefficient scaling method. As an additional modification instead of conventional Y-Cb-Cr color space, it is proposed to use LAB color space. The performance of CLAHE method and DC coefficient scaling method are compared with proposed enhancement method in DCT domain for color contrast enhancement. The contrast is enhanced only for L component and preserving the color chrominance information. This improves the contrast and entropy, and reduces the effect of color shifting in standard methods. The absolute standard deviation difference and entropy is used for performance evaluation parameters. The methods are evaluated under different true color imaging environments. Read More...

-Vijendar Singh ; Satyendra Nath; Abhishek James; Yogesh Kumar
A field experiment was carried out at Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Allahabad during Rabi season of 2016-17, to study agrometeorological indices and phenological behaviour of mustard (Brassica juncea) cultivars under different growing environments at Allahabad climatic conditions. The main plot treatments consisted three date of sowing (D1-25th October, D2-5th November and D3-15th November) and sub plot treatments consisted three cultivars (V1- Parasmani, V2- Varuna and V3- SRM 777) using split plot design. The results revealed that delayed sowing reduced the length of phenophases in all cultivars. The crop duration was shortest in 25th October as compared to 5th November and 15th November. Among cultivars, the total crop duration was longest in SRM 777 followed by Varuna and Parasmani. Among agrometeorological indices GDD, HTU and PTU requirement were higher in 25th October followed by 5th & 15th Nov. sown crop. In delayed sown crop, higher day and night temperature during reproductive phase leads to forced maturity and reduced the total GDD requirement. The crop sown on 25th October was most efficient in thermal and radiation utilization in comparison with delayed sown crop. Among the cultivars, SRM 777 consumed highest GDD at 25th October as compared to other cultivars and it delayed as per growing environment. 25th October is ideal planting window for increasing yield potential of mustard followed by 5th & 15th November due to efficient utilization of available resources.
