Comparative Study of Stress Distribution in Foundation for an Eccentrically Loaded Footing
-Vishnu Patidar ; Dr. J. N. Vyas; Prof. Hussain Hararwala
The footing is designed as rigid structure. When the load applied on footing is eccentric, the pressure distribution in elastic case is given by (P/A ± M/I*y). Pressure distribution no longer remains uniform. The moment the pressure exceeds ultimate bearing capacity of soil .The soil yields and redistribution of the soil pressure takes place. This process continues till the ultimate pressure below the footing becomes equals to ultimate bearing capacity of soil with reduce width of footing (Bowles). At this stage the effective settlement of the footing is more than elastic case. This causes differential settlement in the footing columns. Results in tilting of the structure, has been observed in practice in buildings with columns on property line. As such an attempt has been made to study the actual pressure diagram under the footing by analysing the footing soil media by Finite Element Method using SAP software. The study is made for uniaxially and biaxially loaded columns and to incorporate the results in the design of footings for eccentrically loaded columns. Non linear and linear analysis is performed for eight cases of uniaxially and bi axially loaded footings. Read More...

-Pravin Dharmaraj Patil ; Mahesh Ashok Marathe; Ravindra M. Hatkar; Mohsinoddin M. Shaikh; Akshay R. Chaudhari
Power Generation Using human effort is a force for the future. With increasing demand for fuel and a new source of energy, development of human powered generators become a necessity. The most famous human powered generator is dynamo. On similar lines various human powered generators like backpack generators, bio mechanical energy harvester and shoe generator are being developed. These harvesters are under development and are considered one of the best inventions of recent times. One such way is to develop alternate source of energy which will help us to save energy. Geothermal energy, biogas, solar energy, wind energy are various forms of energy which are used alternatively today. One such source of energy is Human Power. Human power is an endless source of energy which has been wasted. The energy is stored in a mechanical form and retransmitted to the wheel in order to help the acceleration. Electric vehicles and hybrid have a similar system called Regenerative Brake which restores the energy in the batteries. The device recovers the kinetic energy that is present in the waste heat created by the car’s braking process. It stores that energy and converts it into power that can be called upon to boost acceleration. There are principally two types of system - battery (electrical) and flywheel (mechanical). Electrical systems use a motor-generator incorporated in the car's transmission which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy and vice versa. Read More...

Analysis of Heavy Vehicle Induced Occlusion of Overhead and Sideway Signs
-Maaz Allah Khan ; Saddam Sheikh; Rahul Yadav; Ravindra Bahadur; Salman Raza
Traffic signs are used to convey critical information, such as directions, advisories, etc. to drivers however common experience indicates that there exist instances of missing a sign due to visual occlusion. Situation leading to missing a sign typically arise from an obstruction in the cone of vision of the driver because of the presence of a larger vehicle of it. The combination of distance headway, vehicle heights, vehicle speeds and sing characteristics, which may lead to occlusion, have been mathematically analyzed in this thesis. The analysis shows that if a traffic stream is operating in specific regions of a Cartesian apace than larger vehicles will occlude a sing from smaller vehicles following or adjacent to them. While studying such occlusion reading time of signs were also taken into account. Given the expected stream behavior on a road one can determine when vehicles will have trouble reading signs. Survey on Techniques used to Measure Power and Energy Consumption
-Manzoor Ahmed ; Dr. Loganathan .R
In today's world of big data where we moving up from terascale computing to petascale and approaching exascale computing. Power consumption in such large scale computing is a critical concern. We need to measure power and energy consumption to optimize the power consumed without affecting the performance of the application. Most of the scientific applications use HPC architecture for computation, these applications consume large amount of power. As the power consumed is more we need some sort of tools and techniques to reduce the amount of power consumption. We understand the importance of energy efficiency and power optimization. To optimize the power consumption we first need to measure power and energy usage. The survey mainly focuses on different techniques used in calculating and measuring power and energy consumed by software applications. Applications run on different architectures need to be dynamically monitored. The methodologies can be adopted on different processors to predict power usage. The portability of these techniques is achieved through PMU’s (Performance monitoring units). Many of the existing solutions make use of external wattmeter or hardware meters. To optimize power and cost, it is better to use software tools rather than any other hardware meters, as additional cost of hardware can be reduced. This in turn will reduce the operational cost, as the additional meters will use a certain amount of power for its own functionality. The study also highlights the fact that most of the research work is done on Linux platform, as Linux platforms are open source it is easier for researchers to avail all the possible operating system support through packages and other related details, however this is scalable to other platforms. Robust Visual Tracking using Sparse Principle Component Analysis and Haar-like Features
-Ashish Tiwari ; Snehlata Raisagar; Kajal Tiwari
Object tracking is an important problem with wide ranging applications. The aim of object tracking is to detect object and track its motion in the video. Issues of concern are to be able to map objects correctly between two frames, and to be able to track through occlusion. Factors such as pose variation, illumination change, occlusion, and motion blur make it difficult to develop effective and efficient appearance models for robust object tracking. A new tracking method combining on sparse representation, PCA and Haar-like features is proposed in this paper. Occlusion can be evaluated in PCA based analysis in Bayesian inference framework. Compressed features using sparse representation matching method is used to locate the target object if the level of occlusion satisfies inequality criteria. Most of the unimportant samples are removed before computing the compressed features; hence the computational complexity of proposed algorithm is maintained in optimum level. Experiments show that the proposed method with performs better against illumination change, occlusion and appearance variation, and outperforms several latest important tracking methods in terms of tracking performance. -Senthur Pandian. S
This paper proposes a strategy for the Retinal picture examination through productive discovery of exudates and perceives the retina to be typical or irregular. Diabetes is a gathering of metabolic maladies in which a man has high glucose. Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is brought about by the variations from the norm in the retina because of lacking insulin in the body. Diabetic Retinopathy influences 80% of all patients who had diabetes for a long time or more, which can likewise prompt to vision misfortune. The most primitive indication of Diabetic Retinopathy is Exudates. Exudates in the retina are opacities that outcome from the escape of plasma and white platelets from deficient veins. Distinguishing the exudates in a prior stage can keep the vision misfortune. In this paper, a robotized calculation has exhibited to recognize and limit the nearness of exudates from low-differentiate computerized pictures of retinopathy patients with non-widened students. In this strategy, first the retinal fundus picture is pre-prepared. At that point, Mask Technique and Score Computation system is utilized for dividing the exudates in the retinal fundus pictures. This technique does not require regulated realizing which requires marked set, may bring about human mistake and it is tedious process. It can successfully recognize the injuries since exudates were obviously recognized from optic plate and veins. It helps the ophthalmologists apply appropriate medications that might wipe out the illness or abatement the seriousness of it. Read More...

HHO Generation & Its Application on Welding
-Rajat Kesarwani ; Mohd. Ariz; Naveen Kumar
At the present time supply of fossil fuel is decreasing day by day whereas there is also an increment of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, so the tendency towards increasing the use of renewable energy sources has increased. To achieve this purpose mostly all the countries are doing research in the development of renewable sources of energy. The tendency towards increasing the use of renewable energy sources has fueled the development of new sources of energy needed for fusion welding. To overcome these problems one of the relatively newer source of energy is the Hydrogen fuel or Oxy-hydrogen fuel obtained by electrolysis of water in the chamber with one output, a mix of one and two atomic hydrogen with oxygen. The mixture can burn with or without the presence of air, where in the obtained water vapor and heat required for welding. The effective temperature of the flame depends on the composition of the material's to be welded. As most of the conventional welding is done either using any gas or by direct electricity, so it very dangerous to work with them as there are various safety measures involved while working with them and handling them. And not to mention the heavy and bulky groups of equipment involved, which have to be transported to the place of work. So HHO Generator is an initiative towards a simpler, practical, cost effect and economical method for welding. Read More...

Cloud computing is recently emerged as a service program, where users can remotely depot their data into the cloud so as to take advantage of on-demand high quality services from a shared pool of configurable computing resources. Cloud computing it has considerable potential as an alternative process for traditional silo computing. One can deploy applications more speedily across shared server storage resource pools than is possible with conventional enterprise solutions it also enables a new level of agility. Beside this, users will not have physical ownership of the outsourced data of possibly large size, hence the data integrity preservation in Cloud Computing is difficult task. Surveys on cloud computing imply that there should be proper privacy and security means for cloud, otherwise this may be disappointing. The term "multi-clouds", can be vied as a solution for improved data security by using secret sharing algorithm. Read More...

This paper presents a review of vendor facing problem of drill breakage while doing 2nd hole in component named as U.J. Cross. In this report firstly, we founded problem to drive absence of through hole missing of lubrication hole operation which cause high PPM of company supplier X. Our focus was on to Find and eliminate problem for drill break (through hole absent) during lubrication drilling operation in X cause 66% to total rejections contributor. We had checked the part visually and thought about it where and why the problem came. We converge on Scrap Characterization, Reintroduce not good Part to Process, Operation Search. After in this case study we had done a test, by adding a speed sensor to SPM drilling machine. Action implemented on one machine shows the visibly difference in rejection % in action implemented & other 3 machines. We understood Speed sensor reduces speed while chip is in between part & drill cause more energy to drill & results in drill breakage. The problem magnitude of chip direction cause drill breakage. Then we had applied Speed sensor installed to all SPM machines & solution Run Chart proved that problem magnitude was controlled. This paper provides a snapshot of the Problem solved on through hole Absence in drilling operation. Read More...

Bandwidth Allocation in WiMAX Networks using Scheduling Algorithm
-K. Saranya ; Dr. M. A.Dorairangaswamy
An important problem for the WiMAX networks is how to provide a guaranteed quality of service for applications. A key aspect of this problem is how base stations should share bandwidth capacity between different classes of traffic. The decision needs to be made for each incoming packet and is known as the packet scheduling problem. A major challenge in packet scheduling is that the behavior of each traffic class may not be known in advance and can vary dynamically. This paper has described how the packet scheduling problem has been modeled as an application for reinforcement learning. We have demonstrated how our reinforcement learning approach could learn scheduling policies that satisfy the quality of service requirements of multiple traffic classes under a variety of conditions. The proposed solution has been designed to have an ability to accommodate integrated traffic in the networks with effective scheduling schemes. A series of simulation experiments have been carried out to evaluate the performance of the proposed scheduling algorithm. Results revealed that the proposed solution performs effectively to the integrated traffic composed of messages with or without time constraints and achieves proportional fairness among different types of traffic.
