Improvement in Voltage Profile and Reduction in Line Losses in Distribution System using HT/LT Capacitors
-Er. Harjit Singh ; Prof. Manpreet Singh
This Thesis work intends to study improvement in voltage profile and reduction in line losses in primary distribution system of PSPCL pertaining to Agriculture area by using LT capacitors. Punjab being predominantly an Agricultural state, the major source of irrigation is through electricity driven pump sets coupled with three phase induction motors. There are over 13.52 lac such pump sets in the state. The water table in the state is going down year after year requiring farmers to install submersible pump sets of higher and higher rating. During 33 years of my inning in PSPCL it was generally seen that the motors were mostly oversized, local made, locally wound and a common practice of not to maintain LT capacitors at consumer end. All this attributed to low power factor in the range of 0.65 to 0.75. At present there are instructions of PSPCL to install 11kv line capacitors at one location. But it is seen that at many locations these are either damaged or kept out of circuit and many locations are without capacitors also. Through present study, various options such as 11 KV capacitors at 1 No. location and 2 No. location as well as installation of LT capacitors at consumer premises have been analysed. There is considerable improvement in the voltage profile and ample reduction in line loses after considering LT shunt capacitors on around 11.52 lac electric driven pump sets. The pay back has also been worked out which is merely 38 days. The suggestion if implemented across the state for all the pump sets, it will fetch a benefit of over rupees 1387 crore annually besides improving voltage profile and improvement in power factor. The farmers shall also get benefit of improved voltage resulting into lower motor damage rate and the state's subsidy amount shall come down considerably. Read More...

-Shivani Pandey ; Sandeep Patil
Biometric template offers a dependable approach to the trouble of user authentication in identity management structures. Various biometric technologies were developed and effectively deployed around the arena which includes fingerprints, face, iris, palm-print, hand geometry and signature. Fingerprints are the most popular due to their ease of capture, forte and patience through the years, as well as the low cost of sensors and algorithms. A biometric authentication scheme with template protection this is irreversible in opposition to almost all types of adversaries. If a biometric template inside the database of the device of someone is compromised that consequently might imply identification robbery of that man or woman. Most biometric systems which are presently in use, generally use a single biometric trait i.e. fingerprints because of its uniqueness and persistence, such system to set up identity, they're called uni-modal biometric structures that have a few obstacles .This paper proposes of genuine encryption technique for template security. A template protection scheme with provable safety and acceptable reputation overall performance has to date remained elusive. Read More...

Power Generation through Waste Heat
-Yograj Rajendra Birari ; Deepak Kisanrao Patil; Hemant Ajay Chaudhari; Shubham Kailas Baviskar; Mlind Sunil Patil
The Peltier effect is a type of thermoelectric effect that is observed in an electric circuit. It was named after Jean Charles Athanase Peltier, the physicist who discovered the effect in 1834. Peltier when current is made to flow through a circuit consisting of two different types of conductors, a heating or cooling effect is observed at the junctions between the two materials. This change in temperature at the junction is called the Peltier effect. Peltier elements are commonly used in consumer products. For example, Peltier elements are used in camping, portable coolers, cooling electronic components and small instruments. The cooling effect of Peltier heat pumps can also be used to extract water from the air in dehumidifiers. A camping/car type electric cooler can typically reduce the temperature by up to 20 °C (36 °F) below the ambient temperature. Climate-controlled jackets are beginning to use Peltier elements. Thermo electric coolers are used to augment heat sinks for microprocessors. They are also used for wine coolers. A thermoelectric generator (TEG), also called a See beck generator, is a solid state device that converts heat flux (temperature differences) directly into electrical energy through a phenomenon called the See beck effect (a form of thermoelectric effect). Thermoelectric generators function like heat engines, but are less bulky and have no moving parts. However, TEGs are typically more expensive and less efficient. Thermoelectric generators could be used in power plants in order to convert waste heat into additional electrical power and in automobiles as automotive thermoelectric generators (ATGs) to increase fuel efficiency. Another application is radioisotope thermoelectric generators which are used in space probes, which has the same mechanism but use radioisotopes to generate the required heat difference in 1821, Thomas Johann See beck discovered that a thermal gradient formed between two dissimilar conductors can produce electricity. At the heart of the thermoelectric effect is the fact that a temperature gradient in a conducting material results in heat flow; this results in the diffusion of charge carriers. The flow of charge carriers between the hot and cold regions in turn creates a voltage difference. In 1834, Jean Charles Athanase Peltier discovered the reverse effect that running an electric current through the junction of two dissimilar conductors could, depending on the direction of the current, cause it to act as a heater or cooler. The project is totally depends on the all the waste heat of automobile bodies or for any industrial place which has waste heat is observed there this installation can be takes place from where amount of the heat can be obtained as per the peltier plates installation. And the most important think about this concept is to avoid the uses of extra power generation from the battery that can be minimize the uses of batteries in automobile bodies. It can be also use at boiler also amd furnace. The operating range of our project is 120 0c- 180 0c which closely to high range which can be generate the up to 12 volts as per the calculations. The peltier plates are connected in series. Read More...

All over the world maintenance and repair of reinforced concrete structures are becoming major challenge for the construction industry. Many reinforced concrete structures that were designed and constructed before the serious application of earthquake-resistant design codes are vulnerable to seismic forces. The serviceability conditions of many buildings have been changed to meet present requirement. The structures are to be strengthened to take additional loads induced by the above factors. In the past research works have been carried out by researchers with regard to effect of Fiber reinforced Polymer (FRP) wrappings for a particular type of wrapping and loading conditions. Not much work has been carried out in a single work to find the effectiveness of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP), Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) wrapping for different span to depth ratios (L/D) of beams and height to least lateral dimension (H/D) ratio of columns. An experimental investigation was conducted to study the effectiveness of wrapping with CFRP and GFRP for different span to depth ratios of control and strengthened reinforced concrete members (beams and columns). The wrapped beams were tested under static and cyclic loading conditions and columns were tested to ultimate load level under uniaxial compression. From the study, the effect of wrapping in load carrying capacity, improvements in stiffness, ductility behavior have been analyzed and a comparison was drawn between CFRP and GFRP wrapping. Analysis of Place Search using Natural Language Processing
-Rizul Singal ; Ajay Kaushik
The paper focuses on classifying the comments according to the sentiment which they express. Here, an effort has been made to extract comments on images and analyze the opinion of the people who use micro-blogging sites. The comment which reflect leaning of the users, can be categorized as positive, negative and neutral towards a particular place. For this purpose, the methodology we use is as follows: access the API to extract the comments about images. The extracted comments are then processed so as to convert all letters in the lower case, to special characters etc. which would make the further tasks more efficient. We classify these processed comments using a supervised classification approach. The classifier used is Naïve Bayes Classifier to classify the comments as positive, negative or neutral. The classifier is trained using comments which bear a distinctive polarity. The percentage of the positive and negative comment is then computed and is represented graphically. The result can be used further to gain an insight into the views of the people using micro-blogging site about a particular topic that is being searched by the user. It can help corporate houses to devise strategies on the basis of the popularity of their places among the masses. Read More...

Public Cloud Data for Auditable Access Control using De-Duplication Technique
-Vaishali Sahebrao Jagtap ; Vaishali Jagtap; Dr. Manoj Chaudhari
In public cloud storage system protecting the data and controlling the data access is a challenging issue. Cipher text Policy Attribute-Based Encryption (CP-ABE) has been adopted as a promising technique to provide flexible, fine-grained and secure data access control for cloud storage with honest-but-curious cloud servers. However numerous works have been proposed using CP-ABE scheme, in which the single attribute authority must execute the time-consuming user legitimacy verification and secret key distribution and hence it results in a single-point performance bottleneck when a CP-ABE scheme is adopted in a large-scale cloud storage system. Clients may be stuck in the waiting line for a long stretch to get their mystery keys, which results in low-efficiency of the framework. Even though the multi authority access control plans have been proposed, these plans still cannot conquer the disadvantages of single-point bottleneck and low efficiency; because of the way that each of the authority still autonomously deals with a disjoint characteristic set. In order to overcome this disadvantage, there has been proposed a novel heterogeneous framework to remove the problem of single point performance bottleneck and provide a more efficient access control scheme with an auditing mechanism. This framework employs multiple attribute authorities to share the load of user legitimacy verification. Meanwhile, in this scheme, a CA (Central Authority) is introduced to generate secret keys for legitimacy verified users and each of the authorities in this scheme manages the whole attribute set individually. This system makes performance improvement in key generation and also guarantees security requirement. Still there are some security loopholes in this system such as there is no protocol to verify owner and if the owner is compromised then he/she may put wrong data or information in the data server and users may get wrong data. There is no way to know who has used the data. Read More...

Social Media Authentication
-Sneha S. Meshram ; Vrushali R. Bhagat; Sanjiwani D. Kale; Chetshree Jumle
At a social media site a user is usually identified by a profile. It typically contains a picture and name, possibly an address and birth date. The sites do not, however, rigorously check that the person with the identity alluded to in the profile really created and controls the profile. If this is not the case, somebody is using somebody else’s identity. This is called false identity. One can also create profiles that can use freely invented names and other information that cannot be attached to any real .In this case the identity is called a faked identity. Such a profile can still contain a picture of a real person, picked e.g. randomly from the Internet. In this work we describe a scalable approach to avoid making Of a fake account We create a such system which provide one type of security We may face a situation in which we can find that we can have an account of same as our name. This thing does not have any security measures till now For this we have a new system on this to prevent this kind of situation The Social media authentication system help us to prevent this kind of situation and we can improve the social media account policy's security. -Ajinkya Naik ; Mr. Tanveer. C. Mestri; Vishal. A. Patil; Sunny. V. Patil; Shreyansh J. Parmaj
Substituting composite structures for conventional metallic structures has many advantages because of higher specific stiffness and higher specific strength of composite materials. In this work, a Mild Steel drive shaft was developed with a new manufacturing method, in which a Glass fiber epoxy composite layer was applied on the outer surface of a Mild Steel rod. This results in the improvement in the rod’s strength as well as reduction in its weight thus making the rod vibration less. For applying the composite material on the outer surface of the Mild Steel Rod. First of all we prepared a part drawing of rod. We marked up the dimensions on the MS [mild steel] rod as per our requirements. Job was hold in chuck of engine lathe to start machining on it. 1 mm material was removed from rod by using turning operation. Layer of the composite material was applied on the drive shaft [MS rod]. Layer of epoxy was applied on it to properly add the glass fiber layer. For testing purpose the first rod is used without applying any composite material. Then on second rod 2 layers of composite material were applied. On third rod 4 layers of composite material were applied. On fourth rod 6 layers of composite material were applied. This composite drive shaft is to be placed in sun light to let it dry. After the material on the shaft dried. The composite drive shaft is ready for torsion test. Read More...

Huge Data Transfer Across Distributed Data Centers
-V. Kumararaja ; T. S. Gitanjali; A. Mahesh; P. Vanathi
A challenge rise on how to schedule the huge data transfers at different importunity levels, in order to fully utilize the available inter-data center bandwidth. The Software Defined Networking (SDN) paradigm has issued recently which decouples the control plane from the data paths, enabling potential global optimization of data routing in a network. This paper aims to design a dynamic, highly efficient huge data transfer service in a distributed data center system, and engineer its design and solution algorithms nearly within SDN architecture. We model data transfer demands as delay tolerant migration requests with different completing deadlines. The tractability provided by SDN, we enable dynamic, optimal routing of distinct clump within each huge data transfer (instead of treating each transfer as an infinite flow), which can be impermanent stored at intermediate data canter’s to mitigate bandwidth contention with more urgent transfers. An optimal clump routing optimization model is formulated to solve for the best clump transfer schedules over time. To derive the optimal schedules in an online fashion, three algorithms are discussed, namely a bandwidth-reserving algorithm, a dynamically-adjusting algorithm, and a future-demand-friendly algorithm, targeting at different levels of optimality and scalability. We build an SDN system based on the Beacon platform and Open Flow APIs, and carefully engineer our huge data transfer algorithms in the system. Extensive real-world experiments are carried out to compare the three algorithms as well as those from the existing literature, in terms of routing optimality, computational delay and overhead. -Harshad Rajendra Mahajan ; Prof. S. B. Thakre
Air pollution occurring by burning of coal in power plants and releasing of harmful CFCs in atmosphere contributes to major extent in polluting earth atmosphere. The use of renewable energy sources improves the thermal conditions of rooms. There is a rising interest in heating and cooling systems based on renewable energy sources. Air heating or cooling with Earth-Air Heat Exchangers (EAHE) is one approach for reducing ventilation heat losses and improving thermal comfort in buildings. This device can be used to maintain comfortable thermal conditions inside the room, hence reducing power consumption of Air Conditioning units. The Earth-Air Heat Exchanger (EAHE) device consists of a buried pipe through which external ambient air is passed. The flowing air exchanges heat with surrounding soil and leaves the device with a temperature less than or more than compared to its input temperature. The results obtained will be investigated. The earth temperature from a depth of 1.5-2 metres remains constant. Hence, Earth-Air Heat Exchanger tubes will be buried at or more than this depth to get proper comfortable conditions for a room. Two pipes made of different materials will be used for comparative study. Read More...

A Proposition for Traffic Control System
-Sreyas V S ; Aishwarya H C; Ramya H; Vittall A; Anupama
In a developing country like India, traffic congestion is a major problem especially in urban areas of the country. Congestion results in slow moving traffic which in turn results in increased travel time. The traffic control signals have been playing a significant role in reducing the traffic congestion to a certain extend. However, the major drawback of this system is its inability for proper time management. Hence, we propose a more efficient system which allocates time based on the density of vehicles in a particular road thereby reducing the unnecessary waiting time. This proposed system also provides provisions for the smooth passage of emergency vehicles by eliminating the waiting time for these vehicles. This system further offers vehicle to vehicle communication and traffic junction signal to another junction signal communication. Read More...
