Usage of Waste PET Bottles Replacing Fine Aggregates in Concrete with Marble Dust as Additive - A Review
-Neeru Kaushal ; Prachi Vasistha
PET (Polythene Terephthalete) is the most used crude material for mineral water bottles, soft drink bottles, soda bottles and other shopper materials. After usage these PET bottles becomes waste and very difficult to dispose as these are disposed by burning and so causes environmental pollution and degradation. So there is a requirement of the solution to this problem. Researchers have shown a solution for reducing these wastes and using it for concrete so that waste minimization can occur. A solution to reduce the wastage is use of PET in concrete by replacing it with fine aggregates. Most of the researchers used it as PET fibres as replacement of fine aggregates in concrete. Previous studies show that it improves the properties of concrete as strength improves. Researcher studies also show that the use of PET can be effectively done by changing its shape and size. Also marble dust increases the strength in concrete. This study focuses on use of PET as flakes in concrete by replacing it with fine aggregates from 4% to 16% and to improve the strength characteristics marble dust used as an admixture in it. -Prashant Madhukar Jagtap ; Akshay D. Karde; Maruff I. Bagwan; Manoj R. Gowda; Rajeshwari R. Kudale
Glass is used in many forms in day-to-day life. It has limited life span and after use it is either stock piled or sent to landfills. Since glass is non-biodegradable, landfills do not provide an environment friendly solution. Hence, there is strong need to utilize waste glasses. Many efforts have been made to use waste glass in concrete industry as a replacement of coarse aggregate, fine aggregate and cement. Now in the present study we are replacing the cement by waste glass powder partially, main constituent of all type glass is silica (SiO2) as large size particle of glass used as the coarse and fine aggregates in concrete but in coarse aggregate replacement has been found to be non-satisfactory because of alkali-silica reaction (ASR). To minimize the ASR which is hazardous to concrete, we used very fine glass powder less than 100µm. So, In present study we are going to focus on use of glass powder (90 µm) as a partial replacement for cement in concrete. Read More...

On Load Tap Changer of Transformer using Microcontroller
-Mr. Premnath J. Pawar ; Prof. Vaibhav S. Kale; Mr. Hemant K. Chaure
On-load tap-change transformers (OLTCs) are widely used since the introduction of electric power. They provide good control of the output voltage in the presence of large variations of the input voltage with a typical response time of a few milliseconds to a few seconds. An earlier mechanical type of load tap changers was in practice. But they had significant limitations and disadvantages, such as arcs, high maintenance, service costs and slow response times. To overcome these limitations and disadvantages were electronic (or solid state) tap changers developed. The continuous growth of power semiconductor devices, such as the bipolar transistor with isolated gate (IGBT), triac, thyristor, has made the OLTC rapid-action transformer development possible, which is also useful in correcting other problems in the power line, such as flicker and sags. The main idea in the solid state assisted tap changer, is that semiconductor switches operate with more controllability during the tap change process instead of mechanical switches, which helps in reducing the arcing phenomena during the tap-changing process. This project presents the implementation of a fast OLTC transformer. The control strategy is based on the microcontroller and provides flexibility in the programming of the control algorithms. The experimental results show that the switch under fast OLTC is able to correct various distortions of the AC. In addition, the long duration in the time difference is much smaller than that corresponding to the traditional transformer. Read More...

In today's world, Transportation is one of the major fact which need to be taken into consideration. It plays important role in economy. But now-a-days public Transportation is neglected by all people due to time management and lack of knowing bus time table. People should get buses in exact time. If we consider only city area the frequency of the public transportation is good but for long route it goes on decreasing. Therefore the possibility of getting the bus in exact time is less. To handle the situation we have developed an Android application for users to get the estimated arrival time of buses and to get the exact location of the bus on Google map using GPS. People should be aware of exact location of bus, arrival time of bus and number of passengers in bus. So, to solve this problem we are going to implement a Bus Tracking System that any passenger with a smart phone or mobile device can estimate arrival time of bus with their current location and bus routes on a map. Our system handles all the data like current location of bus, management of buses and its schedule. This information is then given to remote user who wants to know the real time bus information. -M. Sivachitra ; K. T. Vishnu Priyan; R. Parthiban; P. Mythili
In this modern world, many technologies are available for agriculture but still farmers are struggling to harvest sugarcane for their cultivation. farmers does not show interest in buying harvesting machine since the cost of the existing machine is high. Another important problem is the requirement of skilled labour for doing harvesting. This paper is aimed at the design of a low cost sugarcane harvesting machine which operates manually. Considering the above said problems, the machine works on the principle of transfer of rotational energy from one part of the machine to another part of the machine. This uses a belt-pulley system to transfer its rotational motion from one part to another. This machine can be operated at a much faster rate and cheaper price. This work serves as an attachment to the tractor of small size. Usually the power of this tractor is in the range of 18hp - 24hp. This product uses the tractor which is readily available with the farmer. Read More...

Role of Information and Technology in Curbing Child Labour
-Sawna Sharma
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is a term that includes any device or application like radio, television and computer network as well as various services and applications associated with them such as video conferencing and distance learning. This paper traces out the role of ICT to protect the children from various kinds of exploitations they are face at their work places where they serve due to bad economic conditions of the family or we can say that due to poverty. An inadequate income of the elder members of the family that forces little children to do any kind of work so that they can get money it hardly matters that they are getting money at the cost of their health mental as well as physical and childhood ,the most important stage which they have never enjoyed. Therefore, ICT can help a lot to provide information to parents of these children, employees and the whole society about the various laws regarding the protection of children which includes the particular age for particular kind with some conditions, free and compulsory education, mid -day meal programme, vocational trainings, skill development programmes and such other policies framed for the protection of the children below the age of 14 years. Government as well as non-government organisations are also dependent on ICT sources to collect data regarding the social evil from time to time and also arrange awareness camps in those areas where people are forced by several circumstances to push their children towards market to earn money at such tender age when they should be in schools to brighten their future. Concrete is most popularly used construction material all over the world. Concrete is an artificial material can be obtained by uniform mixing of cement, coarse aggregate, N-sand or M-sand and sufficient and controlled amount of water, with or without super plasticizers. Here 3 slabs cast with different material properties like slab(S1) cast with N-sand, Slab (S2) cast with M-sand and Slab (S3) cast with partially M-sand and partially N-sand. Therefore, an attempt has been made in this study to evaluate the stresses due to the actual temperature distribution across the thickness of the slab and load (as per IS:875 part-II) using empirical and analytical method viz., Finite element analysis technique. The finding confirmed the importance and the need to account the nonlinear temperature differential in the design of concrete slabs. Also, 3DFE technique using ANSYS proved to be a versatile technique in analyzing concrete slab for thermal and load stresses. Read More...

Compensation of Voltage Sag and Swell by Unit Vector Template Generation Technique and Synchronous Reference Frame Theory for Dynamic Voltage Restorer
-Hiteshkumar Babulal Prajapati ; Mitulkumar Ashokbhai Vekaria; Nikhil Govindvallabh Joshi; Harshkumar Sureshbhai Solanki; Mihir Jagdishbhai Parikh
This paper includes development of voltage control scheme that can compensate voltage sag and swell in three-phase power systems. Faults occurring in power distribution systems cause the voltage sag or swell. If a fault occurs or Heavy inductive loads are switched then the system experiences voltage sag and voltage swell problems. For sensitive loads, even voltage sags of short duration can cause serious problems in the entire system. Normally, a voltage interruption triggers a protection device, which causes shutdown of the entire system. In order to mitigate voltage sag and voltage swell, this research proposes a scheme called "DYNAMIC VOLTAGE RESTORER (DVR)". The proposed scheme is able to quickly recognize the voltage sag and swell, and it can correct the voltage by either boosting the input voltage during voltage sag events or reducing the input voltage during voltage swell events. Among existing methods, the scheme based on the inverter system requires an inverter, a transformer, a liner control scheme. The proposed scheme can be applied at any voltage and provides cost and size advantages over existing methods. Simulations have been carried out to verify the validity of the proposed scheme.
