Experimental Investigation on Structural and Non Structural Foam Concrete
-Manikandan K ; Kuralarasan R; Selvakumar M; Karthik R; Chinnathambi S
Foam concrete is a type of aerated lightweight concrete foam concrete does not contain coarse aggregate and can be regarded as an aerated mortar. Foam concrete is produced when pre-formed foam is added to slurry, the function of foam is to create an air voids in cement–based slurry. Foam is generated separately by using foam generator; the foaming agent is diluted with water and aerated to create the foam. The cement paste or slurry set around the foam bubbles and when the foam being to degenerate, the paste has sufficient strength to maintain its shape around the air voids. The foam concrete mixture becomes too stiff with lower content, causing bubbles to break, whereas the mixtures becomes too thin to hold the bubbles with high water content, leading to the separation of bubbles from the mixture, water-cement (w/c) ratio usually ranges from 0.4–1.3. Foam concrete can be designed to have any density within the dry density range of 300–1850 kg/m3. In this investigation two foam concrete mixtures are produced with and without reinforcement and attempts have been made for selecting the proportions of foam concrete mix for the target plastic density of 1900 kg/m3. The specimens are prepared and tested for mixtures, then their physical (Density) as well as specific structural (Compressive Strength) properties were investigated, Specific Strength and Percentage Strength gain for foamed concrete is compared with normal weight concrete and the results are reported. The design and experimental investigation on behavior of reinforced foam concrete beam. Based on the result Ductility and Moment curvature curve was found out for beam. Read More...

Smart Vehicle with Automatic Speed Regulation
-Pushpendra Singh Rajput ; Brijesh Kumar Dubey
To control the accident highway department have placed the signboards. Increasing number of accidents at busy junctions are a major threat faced by today's world. Nowadays people are driving very fast; we lost our valuable life by making small mistake while driving In this paper we are controlling the speed of two wheelers. This paper is composed of two separate units: zone transmitter unit and receiver unit. Once the information is received from the zones through zigbee, the vehicle's embedded unit automatically alerts the driver, to reduce the speed according to the zone, it waits for few seconds, and otherwise vehicle's speed control unit automatically reduces the speed. The effects on speeds and speed distribution were studied in a large scale field trial with an in-car system for speed adaptation in the city of Lund, Sweden. In the trial 290 vehicles were equipped with an "active accelerator pedal" and a data logger for a period of 3–11 months. Data was logged in each test vehicle during the whole trial and was analyzed for 3 one-month periods: Before activating the system, after short time use and after long time use. The results showed significant reductions in the speed level. Further research is needed in order to investigate possible behavioral adaptation effects when the system is active as well as inactive and how driver behavior would be influenced in a situation where a large part of the vehicle fleet is equipped with an active accelerator pedal. Multi Operation of Agriculture
-J Sujithkumar ; S Manivannan; G Kannan
Presently, small land holding farmers use work bulls mostly for land preparation. Their use can be increased and made more economical by using them for other farm operations such as ploughing, harrowing, fertilizer application, sowing and weeding. Improved hand tools will also facilitate farm work. Oxen can be used to pull a cart throughout the year which keeps them in training. Ploughs, ridgers, seeders and weeders are all seasonal implements. Manual method of seed planting, results in low seed placement, low crop yield and serious back ache for the farmer which limits the size of field that can be planted. The cost price of imported planters has gone beyond the purchasing power of most of our farmers. Farmers can do much to increase crop production especially grains if drudgery can be reduced or totally removed from their planting operations. Generally cultivation of any crop involves various steps like seed selection, field preparation, fertilizing, sowing, irrigation, germination, thinning and filling, weed removal, vegetative stage, flowering stage, pesticide spraying, fruit or pod formation stage, harvesting and threshing. Farmer has to use various agricultural equipment's and labors for caring out those steps, our purpose is to combine all the individual tools to provide farmers with multipurpose equipment which implements all the scientific farming techniques and specifications and suitable for all type of seed to seed cultivation with as minimum cost as possible. This project work is focused on the design and fabrication of multipurpose equipment which is used for land preparation, sowing, fertilizing, and leveling and weed removal process. Read More...

Feature Selection for Opinion Mining using Binary Cuckoo Search Algorithm
-S. M. Hemalatha ; C. S. Kanimozhi Selvi
Feature selection is a process of identifying the related subset with less intricacy. It is used to handle the optimization problem in classification. The dataset may comprise enormous number of features so it is difficult to identify the related features because the dataset may contain unrelated features. To overcome this problem, a binary cuckoo search based feature selection algorithm (BCSA) is proposed. It enhances the process of feature selection and produces the best optimal feature subset which increases the predictive accuracy of the classifier with minimum number of features. It improves the search space both global and local. In this BCSA is used as a feature selector and yields the feature subset and SVM classifier is used to estimate the feature subset produced. The analysis result show that the SVM classification yield enhanced accuracy when binary cuckoo search algorithm is used for feature selection. Read More...

Driving Water Pumps using Non-Conventional Energy Resources
-Ashwini Kumar Singh ; Devendra Kumar Pandey
The growing energy use all over the world and the increase in energy cost result in an increase in the prices of energy-dependent products, such as crops, meats, etc. Environmental pollution caused by the use of traditional energy sources, such as fossil fuel, makes it necessary to find new solutions for this problem. In addition, sources of fossil fuel are being rapidly depleted and energy consumption is increasing at an exponential rate. Under such situation, renewable energies seem to be the alternative. Renewable energy effectively uses natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat, which may be naturally replenished. Using renewable energy resources to power an irrigation system is a means of decreasing the dependency of food products on the prices of fuel and minimizes the impact of the irrigation system on the environment. In this project we use solar energy which is used to operate the irrigation pump. Read More...

-V. Bharath ; S. Kavisri; M. Manikandan; M. Ragul Bhavan; Dr. N. Suthanthira Vanitha
The biometric person authentication technique based on human iris is well suitable for application to any access control system requiring a high level of security. . The proposed idea is to do the eye capturing by using the Raspberry pi 3 to make the automated Iris capturing system. This can reduce the cost, will also increase accuracy and speed of process. Different algorithms were used to achieve the automated eye capturing with the maximum accuracy. For detecting the iris the Hybrid detection is used which involves Viola Jones and Skin Pixel detection technique. The viola jones method is accurate but the duration is high and in the skin color pixel method the duration is low but less accurate. Hence the Hybrid method is effective in which both the duration and the accuracy is high. The ultrasonic sensor is used to detect the person and when the person is detected, the image will be taken using the camera module and stored in the allocated location. Further, by algorithm the iris is separated and their image is displayed. Read More...

Extraction of Fuel from Plastic by Microwave Pyrolysis
-Sivakumar. N ; Rohith Madhavan ; Rahul Krishna B. K; Saran Chandran; Sarath .V
There has been an ever increasing global demand for energy in recent years. The demand especially from liquid fuels is very high and the limited resources of fuel production has created bottleneck leading to an energy crisis. This has led to exploring other resources for fuel production, one of which is plastic. Being a non-degradable source, plastics disposed of in the open environment as wastes pose a threat to the environment. Most of the waste plastics end up as landfills. It can instead be used as a source for making fuel. The work describes an attempt to use the waste plastic to synthesize potential fuel called ‘Pyrolysis Oil’ since the process used in order to obtain the oil is Pyrolysis. The obtained oil from different grades of waste plastics is analysed so as to validate its use as fuel. The paper deals with extracting pyrolysis oil from waste polymers by fabricating a furnace to carry out pyrolysis. Here we use the microwave pyrolysis for the extraction of fuel. A microwave reactor was designed and fabricated using a microwave oven. The optimal pyrolysis working condition led to the production of a suitable product for a fuel application. A mixture of various types of plastics is taken as samples. Carbon was used as the microwave absorbent. Read More...

-Sathish. R ; Mohan Kumar. P; Subasri. C; Purushothaman. R; Arunraj Christa Doss. A
In modern days, engineers have to face different kinds of problems like construct heavy structure and heavy mobility. But some places on earth soil have poor engineering properties like bad Workability, low bearing capacity and strong compressibility. So in order to improve the strength of soil, add some stabilizers. The aim of this study is to improve the engineering properties of soil using waste plastic powder. Clayey soils are poor in strength and they will result in poor pavement support and ultimately affects its life period. The soil stabilization is used to increase the strength of the soil by using the waste plastic material. The new technique of soil stabilization can be effectively used to meet the challenges of society, to reduce the quantities of waste, producing useful material from non-useful waste materials. Specimens are prepared to know the properties of soil with percentage of 0.6%, 0.8% and 1% of waste plastic powder. Some of the tests carried for the soil sample are Standard proctor test, unconfined compressive test, California bearing ratio and atterbergs limit test are performed to analysis compressive strength, Maximum Dry Density (MDD) and optimum moisture content (OMC) of soil mixture. Dye Sensitized Solar Cell
-Mr. C. Manimaran ; S. Vimalraj; K. Rajesh Kumar
Energy crisis is what being faced by every country today. Many efforts have been devoted to overcome the problems. One of several offered solutions is to develop solar cells (SCs) since solar energy is abundant and free to use. Solar energy is available a whole year with quite high power 450 mWcm-2. Several types of SCs, especially silicon-based, have been mass-produced and applied in our daily life. Silicon-based SC has high efficiency yet has high price. Dye Sensitized Solar Cell is an inexpensive type of SC. The natural ingredients could be utilized as dyes for DSSC. In this research, Butea monosperma extract was employed as the dye for TiO2-based DSSC. In pursuit of an abundant, inexpensive and stable counter electrode as an alternative to platinum for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), we report a new, low-cost substitute material. Here for the first time, we demonstrate that V2O5 can be used as a counter electrode material in DSSCs. We note that the efficiency of DSSCs with commercial V2O5 and hydrothermal treated V2O5 are upto 1.2% and 1.6%, respectively. The results indicate that, with optimization, V2O5 can be a promising choice to replace platinum from a cost perspective. The innovation of new economical counter electrodes offers a potential way to cut down the industrial costs which is crucial for large-scale production and commercial applications of DSSCs. Trackable and Multipurpose Life Jacket
-Kanika Verma ; Amit Pratap Singh
In today's world, defense power is an important factor in any nation's security. Soldiers being the backbone of any armed force usually lose their lives due to lack of medical help when in emergency, also soldiers who are involved in missions or in special operations get straggled on war fields and lose contact with the authorities. So for their security purpose, many instruments are mounted on them to view their health status as well as ammunitions present. We have used various sensors such as temperature sensor, pulse rate sensor, gas sensor, etc. These sensors will monitor the health status of the soldier whenever required. Also using GPS we can track the soldier's exact location whenever required. Using oxygen level sensor we can also monitor the environmental condition, so authorities can provide essential aids. The communication is established between the soldiers and authorities via GSM. Any abnormalities in the readings of wireless body area sensor network (WBASNs) is considered as a trigger for GSM to establish the connection between the soldier and base unit and send current location and health status to the receiver. So by using these equipment we are trying to implement the basic life-guarding system for soldier in low cost and high reliability. Read More...

-Kaustubh Rajpathak ; Nisha Handa; Anchal Agrawal; Soni Kriplani; Manoj Bangare
Cities play a vital role in the development of a country. Hence it is vital that they remain in maximum operational efficiency. One such aspect contributing to the overall efficiency is transportation within the city. This aspect is divided into to broad categories namely public and private transportation. This paper mainly focuses on the public domain such as buses. As our country is stepping into the digital age our public transport system still hasn't caught up with the digital revolution. Hence to speed up the pro-cess of digitisation we have proposed with some solutions to common problems faced by commuters. At present the system in operation doesn't have any digitisation which helps in solving problems such as overcrowding or irregular bus timings. This report primarily focuses on problems regarding daily bus commutes which are the main means of transport in India. Digitising public transport systems will help in adoption rates for them by the future generation and also in-crease efficiency in the process. As a country with the second largest population in the world we do not operate even near the efficiency of the top public transport systems in terms of load carrying capabilities and travel times. It is predicted that India will eventually surpass China in population and with the current public transport system the future seams bleak if it is not upgraded. While various solutions were tried with mixed performance reports our solution promises to revolutionise our way of using public transport. Read More...

-Ranjith Kumar P ; P. Ranjith Kumar; G. Kamaraj; J. Sundharesan; Mr. R. Praveen Kumar
We're entering a new era of computing technology that many are calling the Internet of Things (IoT). Machine to machine, machine to infrastructure, machine to environment, the Internet of Everything, the Internet of Intelligent Things, intelligent systems—call it what you want, but it's happening, and its potential is huge. We see the IoT as billions of smart, connected "things" (a sort of "universal global neural network" in the cloud) that will encompass every aspect of our lives, and its foundation is the intelligence that embedded processing provides. The IoT is comprised of smart machines interacting and communicating with other machines, objects, environments and infrastructures. As a result, huge volumes of data are being generated, and that data is being processed into useful actions that can "command and control" things to make our lives much easier and safer—and to reduce our impact on the environment. The creativity of this new era is boundless, with amazing potential to improve our lives. The following thesis is an extensive reference to the possibilities, utility, applications and the evolution of the Internet of Things. Read More...

-Pathan Firoj Jalal ; Abhijit Rajole; Kailas Pardeshi; Navnath Khokle; Prof. Manoj Ganage
Perforated V-pin fin array with various fin spacing, perforation angle, and perforation diameter, pitch of perforation and heater inputs. The variables for this natural convection cooling with the help of finned surfaces are orientation and geometry. All the electronic components release heat during their operation which must be transferred tothe surrounding for the its proper and intended operation and to avoid the damage of the equipment. The main aim of extended surfaces is to limit the maximum temperature in the metallic walls. Hence increase the possibility of using the least refractory material and minimizing the material and processing cost. Generally, the extended surfaces (fins) are made up of the materials having high conductivity like aluminum. The heat transfer will depend on the geometry of the fin like length thickness, cross sectional area, width, spacing between the fins and the operating parameters such as heat supplied to the device, material of the fin, orientation of the fins, temperature difference between the fin and surrounding, number of fins, fin array orientation etc .as the electronic devices and engines developed, heat generated from them increases and while the surface area of the electronic equipment decreases continuously. -Geetanjali Thorat ; Ujwal Chaudhari; Somnath Gade; Smruti Shegokar; Kishor Kumbharde
The growth of Indian manufacturing sector depends largely on its productivity & quality. Productivity depends upon many factors, one of the major factors being manufacturing efficiency with which the operation/activities are carried out in the organization. Productivity can be improved by reducing the total machining cycle time, combining the operations etc. In case of mass production where variety of products is less and quantity to be produced is huge, it is very essential to produce the job at a faster rate. This is not possible if we carry out the production by using general purpose machines. The best way to improve the production rate (productivity) along with quality is by use of special purpose machine. Productivity and performance of the existing drilling machine will be increased by Design & Fabrication of Multiple Spindle Drilling Head. This paper deals with improvement in Design & Fabrication Process of Multiple Spindle Drilling Head for cycle time optimization of the component. Read More...

Gesture: A New Language
-Abhay Kumar ; Keshav Srivastava; Diksha Shrivastava
Interaction plays an important role in most people daily life. The interaction of a human with the computer can be done by providing the input from keyboard, mouse, joystick etc. Likewise, interaction between a dump person and a normal person is also an important problem for which we need a system through which we establish a communication medium between a dumb person and a normal person. Normally a dump person needs a transmitter which can communicate their message to the normal person by using his/her hands and performing gestures with them. Hand gesture is defined as a variety of different gestures and movements performed by arms, hands or both combined and will serve as a mode of communication establishment between a machine and a human. This paper is based on the various hand movements made by the humans treated as samples and classifying those movements with the help of image processing and extracting features for which KNN Algorithm is used, then mapping those features with the pre- stored features which are generated from the images stored in the database, the matched feature will generate the output.
