-Jeetendra Kumar Kushwaha ; Sanjay Kumar Singh
The main aim of this comparative analysis is to determine the relative advantage of using a straight steel tube heat exchanger with respect to a straight corrugated steel tube heat exchanger. Straight tube is easier in fabrication of heat exchanger tube. So straight tube heat exchanger offer advantageous over helical tube, corrugated tube and many more compact tube type heat exchangers. In current work the fluid to fluid heat exchange is taken into consideration, Most of the investigations on heat transfer coefficients are for constant wall temperature or constant heat flux. The effectiveness, overall heat transfer coefficient, effect of cold-water flow rate on effectiveness of heat exchanger when hot water mass flow rate is kept constant and effect of hot water flow rate on effectiveness when cold water flow rate kept constant studied and compared for parallel flow, counter flow arrangement of Straight steel tube and Straight corrugated steel tube heat exchangers. And also both are compared with full length clock wise and other one which has half clock wise twisted and half anticlock. All readings were taken at steady state condition of heat exchanger. The result shows in the graphical representation for effectiveness of both tubes in different flow arrangement with and without insert, Effectiveness of heat exchanger is decreases in both straight steel and corrugated steel tube when hot water mass flow rate varies and cold water flow is fixed and straight corrugated steel tube effectiveness is higher than the plane steel tube heat exchanger and also effectiveness with insert is higher than without insert. And bidirectional insert gives more effectiveness than unidirectional insert. Read More...

Detection of Sensitive Data and Information Leakage in a Trusted System
-Reshma K Rajan ; Sijimol A S
Data-leak issues have developed quickly. Among different information release cases, human missteps are one of the primary drivers of information loss. It contains a Privacy Preserving Data-Leak Detection (DLD) solution to solve the data leak issue where it scans the characters of the pattern from right to left beginning with the rightmost one. Detection of sensitive data and information leakage in a trusted system is possible using Boyer Moore algorithm. Boyer Moore algorithm allows supporting the pattern matching. Proposes the Hash to Hash Value Comparison concept which lowers the execution time of string with the help of hash to hash match. First the hash value of the string corresponding to the content has been calculated. Then split up the string, word by word or as per the wish and taking the hash value of that split up string and then it compares with the previous hash value. If the hash values match with each other then the alert message is passed from the DLD Provider which detects the file duplication or file leakage to the data owner and the data user. This method detects the false alarm rate and reduce the execution time while it comparing with Boyer Moore Algorithm. Read More...

Stability Analysis of Pile Group Subjected to Lateral Loading using Pseudodynamic Method
-Dheerendra Tiwari ; Dr. Rakesh Patel; Prof. Sachin Nagayach
Pile foundations, classified under Deep foundations are used when shallow foundations are deemed unsuitable owing to soil or site conditions. Pile foundation system find wide applications in case of expansive soils such as black cotton soil and collapsible soils such as loess or when there is a layer of weak soil near the surface that cannot support the load of the superstructure. Pile foundations are subjected to significant amount of lateral loads besides vertical loads due to seismic forces. Most of the seismic analyses are complicated and require numerical analysis. Furthermore they are aimed at determining stability by considering limiting value of lateral displacement. Very limited seismic studies are conducted considering the pile group as a block. Even in the seismic studies conducted, pseudo-static approach or numerical methods are employed. The objective of this study is to analyze the response of pile group as a block in cohesion less soils subjected to seismic horizontal and vertical forces using pseudo–dynamic approach and compare the results with the existing pseudo-static method. The results of the study help us to determine the relative stability of the pile block against overturning for the avoidance of failure of the foundation system. It is observed that although the stability factor decreases with increase in the value of kv for a given value of kh. For the horizontal acceleration coefficient (kh), the effect is not as pronounced as in the case of horizontal acceleration coefficient. The variation of stability factor is negligible. Relative stability increases with the increase in the value of ϕ. For higher values of ϕ there is an increase in shearing resistance of soil. Increase in density has a negative effect on the stability of the pile block. However as the graph suggest that for all other parameters remaining same, the stability factor is higher in case of pseudo-dynamic method as compared to the pseudo-static for any given value of density. The effect of arching is reflected in pseudo-dynamic analysis where the stability factor becomes constant after a depth of about 10m. Read More...

Pushover Analysis by SAP2000
-Mohd. Tabrez Khan ; Prof. Suhail Ahmed Qureshi
To model the complex behaviour of reinforced concrete analytically in its non-linear zone is difficult. This has led engineers in the past to rely heavily on empirical formulas which were derived from numerous experiments for the design of reinforced concrete structures. For structural design and assessment of reinforced concrete members, the non-linear analysis has become an important tool. The method can be used to study the behaviour of reinforced concrete framed structures including force redistribution. This analysis of the non-linear response of reinforced concrete structures to be carried out in a routine fashion. It helps in the investigation of the behaviour of the structure under different loading conditions, its load deflection behavior. In the present study, the non-linear response of RCC frame using SAP2000 under the loading has been carried out with the intention to investigate the relative importance of several factors in the non-linear analysis of RCC frames. This include the variation in load displacement graph. Seismic threat in the context of engineering design is commonly defined as the forecast level of ground acceleration which would be topped with 10% possibility at the site under contemplation due to the presence of an earthquake everywhere in the territory, in the next 50 years. A lot of composite scientific observation and stable modelling is difficult in seismic threat approximation. A computational pattern contains the following phases: explanation of seismic source areas and their characterisation, selection of a suitable ground motion reduction relation and a projecting model of seismic threat. Although these phases are region definite, assured standardisation of the methods is extremely important so that reasonably equivalent estimations of seismic threat can be made universal, which are dependable across the district limitations. -Ravi R Rajput ; Devang Thakar; Shoaib Memon; Aysakhanam M Doi
In systems involving heat transfer, a condenser is a device or unit used to condense a substance from its gaseous to its liquid state, typically by cooling it. In so doing, the latent heat is given up by the substance, and will transfer to the condenser coolant. The primary component of a condenser is typically the condenser coil, through which the refrigerant flows and fins are provided for better transfer and rejection of heat. In this work heat transfer by convection in air cooled condensers is studied and improved along with study of heat distribution over fins. The assessment has been carried out on an air-cooled finned-tube condenser of a vapour compression cycle for air conditioning system. The purpose of the analysis is to investigate the potential benefit of fin distribution on the heat flux and thermal gradient for the same length without failing the load conditions. This paper reviews the different methods researched for improving the heat transfer through fins. Read More...

-Mr. Jigar H. Balar ; Mr. Hiren A. Rathod; Mr. Rushabh Shah
Time and motion study is a work measurement technique for recording the times of performing a certain specific job or its elements carried out under specified conditions. Time study is a direct and continuous observation of a task, using a timekeeping device (e.g., decimal minute stopwatch, computer-assisted electronic stopwatch, and videotape camera) to record the time taken to accomplish a task. Motion studies are performed to eliminate waste. Under this project two sites are selected for time and motion study considering ten selected activities on field for time and motion study. Data will be collected for all activities under time study on field using stop watch and average time will be estimated and then further analyses under motion study to determine the optimum time required for performing selected operations and identify the extra time consumed on site. The analysis result will show that almost all the activities consumed more time more than what is required for actual work. The further future investigation and observations on field explore some reasons for extra time consumption which included inadequate material handling, ineffective method of work, poor planning of inventory poor layout and utilization of space. If these factors are taken into consideration the activities time can be brought nearer to ideal time requires. Read More...

A wireless sensor network (WSN) consists of a large number of small sensors with low weight and low battery power. A sensor network is a comprised of sensing, processing, communication ability which helps to observe, instrument, React to events and phenomena in a specified environment. Sensor cannot have an infinite lifetime without battery recharge or replacement. Sensors are divided and collected as group called clusters to collect the data from where it is deployed. Clusters are maintained by Cluster Head and it maintains the transmission process which needs high energy. Cluster formation and selection of Cluster Head (CH) are important problems in sensor network application and drastically affect the network lifetime. LEACH (Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) is good hierarchical protocol.
In this paper, first outline the basics of wireless sensor network, then overview of LEACH protocol, describe review of several cluster head selection method in LEACH protocol based on energy consumption, lifetime of the nodes are defined.

-M. Ravikumar ; S. Kumaravel; E. Sivaprakash; G. Selvakumar
The number of small-scale businesses within most national economies is generally high, especially developing countries. Waste wood can be a potentially valuable resource for the manufacture of various materials and products. The type and volume of wastes generated during the manufacture of forest products have changed over time depending on various factors. Often these businesses have a weak economic status and limited environmental awareness. This study investigated the types of waste generated and the recycling methods adopted in micro-sized enterprises engaged in the manufacture of furniture. An assessment was also made of whether the characteristics of the enterprise had any effect on the waste recycling methods that were practised. It was found that medium-density fibreboard, and to a lesser extent, chipboard, were used in the manufacture of furniture, and two major types of waste in the form of fine dust and small fragments of board are generated during the cutting of these boards. Enterprises were found to have adopted other methods to utilise their wastes in addition to using them as fuel. Such enterprises include those operating from a basement or first floor of a building in the cities, those continuing production throughout the year, those in need for capital and those enterprises not operating a dust-collection system. a building in the cities, those continuing production throughout the year, those in need for capital and those enterprises not operating a dust-collection system. The percentage of the workforce that has received vocational training in furniture manufacturing is low, which is an obstacle to the utilisation of waste materials in a variety of ways. Read More...

Emotion Detection from Infant Cries
-Samiksha Dharmdhikari
Infant cry is a way in which baby tries to communicate specific messages. As crying is the only way to express discomfort, so this signal carries a lot of information about infants physical and psychological condition. Therefore, the aim to extract and classify the state of an infant based on the patterns exhibited by the crying sound signal. More specifically we propose a methodology able to distinguish among the following five states: (a) hungry, (b) uncomfortable, (c) need to burp, (d) in pain, and (e) need to sleep. There are many feature extraction techniques evolved such as Linear Predictive Codes, Perceptual Linear Prediction, Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC), RASTA Filtering etc evolved over past few years. This paper is to study MFCC technique to detect the emotion of crying infant. Among all MFCC is the most prevalent and dominant method used to extract spectral feature. The recognition accuracy is high. That means the performance rate of MFCC is high. So here we compare the performance of various feature classification techniques that are used with MFCC and other extraction techniques. Read More...

-Boopathy S ; Gokul Anand. K. R; Karthik. S; Sugumar. S; Hemavarthini. M
The need for alternate eco-friendly fuel is increasing rapidly with the depletion of non-renewable energy resources. Simultaneously, Management of waste water is being a big deal for government. This is mainly due to rapid urbanization and over population. Several disposal methods have been established and functioning till date. Increasing population leads to increment of the quantity of wastes which finally leads to dump of sewage results in production of diseases. An alternative method for disposal of sewage waste could be generation of renewable energy which is much essential today to compensate the insufficient energy. Here is a simple approach to treat the waste water and converting it into electricity where solar panels are one of the sources used for energy production and prevents the increment of household waste water. This process can either be followed by municipality at the destination of sewage collection or by a community level of people to fulfil their daily power needs. At community levels, a centralized collection and waste water treatment from households including toilets answers not only proper sanitation but if treated scientifically, yields renewable energy as well.
