Study on Building Settlement Problems & its Remedial Measures
-Anurag Kumar Shukla ; Rohit Kumar Sahu; Dr. Pankaj Singh
In recent years, high buildings have emerged in large numbers rapidly. Due to the increase of floor and load, building body may produce settlement unevenly. Severe settlement may endanger the safety of building. Therefore, it is of great importance to monitor building in real time. Foundations are key element in construction projects. Identification of foundation failures and providing necessary treatment is very important. Many foundation failures are due to inadequate protection to foundation soils, improper geotechnical investigation and design error, improper sequence of construction and water level fluctuation. Differential settlement between foundations’ elements induces additional stresses in the structural elements. In general, the amount of settlement that a structure can undergo without distress is large, provided that the structure settles uniformly. However, based on the fact that the soil under the foundation may not be uniform in nature and the loads transferred from the superstructure to the foundation are variable, differential settlements between the foundation elements are expected. This works on different causes for distress of foundation and also discusses their solutions to overcome and prevent these failures in consideration. The questionnaire survey was conducted to rate the factors that contribute to the problem/defects of foundation construction and remedial approach for foundation failure. Read More...

Design and Simulation of Buck PMW DC-DC Converter
-Abhishek Sharma
Now a day's dc-dc switching converters are widely used for sophisticated application. By using these converters with given dc input voltage a stabilised output voltage can be obtained by using Buck (lower), Boost (higher) or Buck –Boost (generic) topology which improves the efficiency of dc-dc converter as compared to linear regulators. Most used technique to control switching power supply is pulse width modulation (PWM). In this way a particular dc-dc converter is designed by keeping the typical application in mind. Properly designed dc-dc converters provide low ripple, better noise rejection, reliable and efficient converter. For some typical application like powering LED needs constant current supply for constant illumination, hence feedback based closed loop converters becomes better choice. In the present thesis for low power application a PWM based closed loop dc-dc buck converter has been designed, analysed and simulated. A MOSEFET has been used as switching device and components has been designed for low ripple and low noise. With variation in load and variation in input power supply output supply voltage has been obtained as constant value by using PID. Read More...

-Rahul Srivastava ; Dr. M. K. Chopra
Electricity generation through Non-renewable energy i.e;coal–thermal route is one of the most responsible for environment pollution through greenhouse gas emission, which has given rise to issue of climate change risk. Coal combustion results large pollution and affect the environment. The harmful gases affect the atmosphere and act opposite to the nature. Today India is more concentrated towards non-conventional energy sources. Currently, in India 20.1% of power is generated through non-conventional i.e.; renewable energy sources. And if we want an IGCC power plant for remote location then there be a requirement of small scale power plant. For small scale IGCC power plant there may have the installation of downdraft gasifer because Downdraft gasifier is very attractive for biomass gasification due to its easy fabrication and operation, and also due to low tar content in producer gas. Finally, a brief review of the literature on gasification of coal/biomass and also reviews on the fluidized bed technology to discuss the main process parameters and their influence on the product composition, quality of the fuel gas and the operability of the gasifier as well as blends in bubbling/circulating fluidized bed gasifiers has also been presented. Efficiency of Daylighting in a Building - A Case Study
-I Rohini ; A Karuppaiya; M Prabu
Daylight should be used as primary light source in building in daytime and fulfil both our visual and nonvisual(biological)needs. Sick building syndrome is largely related to air quality and indoor pollution, but also takes into account the availability of natural light, which studies show is vital for people's health and wellbeing. The health effects of natural light and fresh air offered by windows are pivotal to the health of a home and its inhabitants. A lot of the research that relates to the health benefits of natural light relates to night shift workers in particular, because they are working in an environment without natural light, which suppresses their serotonin levels (which affects their happiness), and melatonin levels (which affects their sleeping and relaxation). A lack of exposure to natural light can even lead to seasonal affective disorder, or the ‘winter blues’, which can then lead to clinical depression. Good lighting will provide a suitable intensity and direction of illumination on the task area, appropriate colour rendering, the absence of discomfort and, in addition, and a satisfying variety in lighting quality and intensity from place to place and over time. The argument for day lighting in buildings therefore has three strands:
• it provides a healthier and more enjoyable indoor climate
• it conserves the earth's resources
• because it saves energy, it saves money. This research work involves checking of lighting efficiency in a building by taking onsite measurements and compare with the protractor method.

Study on Effect of Angularity on Hydraulic Conductivity of Mixtures of Materials
-Heena Malhotra ; Janmeet Singh; Himanshu Jaiswal
The knowledge of hydraulic properties of soils such as hydraulic conductivity is very important in many physical situations such as flow in an aquifer, flow through filters in water purification, sewage treatment plant and flow in packed bed chemical reactors. It is a key parameter in diagnosing the potential for widespread groundwater contamination by pollutants, and is the basis for design of drainage and irrigation systems. The size and shape of soil particles reflect the formation history of the grains. In turn, the macro-scale behaviour of the soil mass results from particle level interactions which are affected by particle shape. Sphericity, Roundness and Smoothness characterize different scales associated to particle shape. Hence, to investigate the effect of Shape factors of sediments on hydraulic conductivity through porous media, the present study has been conducted on Constant Head Permeameter with appurtenances to measure discharge, pore pressure differences and temperature. Four number of materials such as 6.3 mm White Marble chip, 6.3 mm Crushed Quartzite, 10 mm River Washed Gravel, 16 mm Glass Spherical Glass balls and making a mixture of these above mentioned materials in fixed proportion and then conducting Hydraulic Conductivity tests on it. Design of Earthquake Resistant Low-Rise Building with Open Ground Storey
-G. V. Shabareesh
The behaviour of the building with infill wall when the lateral loads are acting on it will be different when compared to the building without infill wall. But in the common practice in the analysis of the building the stiffness of the infill wall is ignored. In compensation for the discontinuity of the stiffness IS 1893: 2002 allows analysis of the building without considering infill stiffness but with a multiplication factor of 2.5. The code says that the beams and columns of ground floor without infill wall must be designed for 2.5 times the moments and shears calculated for a bare frame under seismic load. So the main objective of this paper is to check whether the multiplication factor 2.5 is realistic for the low rise buildings and to compare the seismic analysis of the building with and without considering the infill strength and stiffness. Production of Biogas using Cow Dung in Municipal Sewage Water
-Manpreet Singh ; Gautam Kochher
As the energy of the universe is conserved and it alters from one form to another, a complete and efficient utilization of such energy becomes equally important without affecting the climate properties. The reason behind this reduction is to limit the use of fossil fuels which further leads to a clean and green environment. Therefore, research communities seeing at "Sustainable Renewable Energy Generation and Utilization" as a solution to the next generation technology of generating and consuming energy. Thus, energy communities have found one solution from many of those and well known as Biogas utilization which is a byproduct of biomass. Thus Biogas consists of renewable energy resources which have very less green house potential that makes it very much viable. As municipal solid-waste (MSW) or sewage water (SW) has a high potential to generate biogas (chemical energy) while subjected to microbiological anaerobic digestion process thus it is being widely employed in generating electrical energy in European Continent. Thus keeping this in mind, in this present work an attempt has been made to study the content of methane generated while combining cow dung in sewage water in order to compensate the shortage of raw material in active biogas power plant. Results shows approximately same quantity of biogas has been obtained as plant is attained by using cow dung only. Also, PH, TDS and VS analyses have been done in order to check acidity and alkanity of the mixture before and after the anaerobic digestion. Read More...

Computerized Image Labeling using Prominent Features of Unidentified Image
-Prabakaran ; V. Karthikeyan
Vigorous learning is useful in situations where labelled data is scarce, unlabelled data is available and labelling has some cost associated with it. In such situations energetic learning helps by identifying a minimal set of items to label that will allow the training of an effective classifier. Most existing image processing applications are designed for small-scale and local computation which does not scale well to web-sized problems with their large requirements for computational resources and storage, since a large number of images are not labelled properly which is considered as weakly labelled and some of the images were not labelled at all. In this Map Reducing concept is used to overcome this massive labelled and un-labelled analysis problem, since traditional data processing application software is inadequate to deal with them. In this a novel method is developed for achieving multi-label, multi-feature image annotation using a Map Reduce framework, where an image-level labels and region-level labels for both labelled and unlabelled images are obtained. The associations between semantic concepts and visual features are mined both at the image level and at the region level through which Multi-Label image correlations are obtained by a co-occurrence matrix of concept pairs using Convolution Neural Network. Hybrid Microstrip/Slotline Ultra-Wideband Bandpass Filter with a Controllable Notch Band
-Rangoli Srivastava ; Komal P Kanojia
An ultra-wideband (UWB) bandpass filter (BPF) with a controllable notch band is presented by using hybrid microstrip/slot line structure. Firstly, a slot line resonator with symmetrically loaded stubs is fed by two microstrip lines to produce a UWB bandpass filtering response. Secondly, a microstrip triangular loop resonator is externally loaded over the slot line, and a notch band is introduced in the UWB passband. The notch band is determined by the perimeter of the loop resonator. Thirdly, two patches are added as the perturbation element to the corners of the microstrip resonator to excite a pair of degenerate modes. Bandwidth of the notch band can be tuned by properly selecting the patch size. Circuit model for the microstrip resonator loaded slot line is given and studied. Finally, the filter is designed, simulated, and measured. Measured results have agreed well with the simulated ones, demonstrating that a UWB filter with a controllable notch band has been realized. Active Air Suspension System
-Suchit Naresh Moon
Air ride suspension carries the load on each axle with a pressurized air bag just as a high pressure balloon. This system provides the smoothest and most shock free ride of any of the known vehicle suspension system. An air suspension includes a multiple air spring assemblies that each includes a piston airbag and a primary airbag mounted over the piston airbag. The primary and piston airbags each have a variable volume that is controlled independently of the other for active suspension control. Air ride system provides some important following features:
1) The system automatically adjusts air pressure in the air bag so that the trailer always rides at the same height, whether lightly loaded or heavily loaded.
2) The higher air bag pressure associated with higher trailer loads automatically provides a stiffer suspension which is required for a smooth ride.
3) The lower air bag pressure for lightly loaded conditions automatically provides for a softer suspension, thus providing the same ride quality for all trailer loading conditions.
Since each axle is independently supported by its own air bag, the air ride suspension is known as fully independent suspension system. The automatic control of the air bag pressure is accomplished by a solid state electronic control system specifically designed and packaged for vehicle use. This system continuously checks the ride height of the suspension and accordingly increases air pressure if the ride height is too low, by turning 'ON' an on-board air compressor. The air compressor stops automatically when the proper ride height is reached. Read More...

Security Issues with Possible Solutions in Cloud Computing: A Review and Analysis
-Dharma Raj Ojha ; Prof. T. Srinivasa Rao
Cloud computing is a screen that uses an integrated concept of "software-as-a-service" and "utility processing", which provides convenient administration and demand for end users. It provides a good way to share goods and appropriate governments, which has space with many organizations. Due to the use of assets transmitted in cloud computing, it is necessary to provide security and reliability to share information to create cloud computing applications. Due to the cloud processing information and the distribution of its property on the ground, security is a major hindrance to prevent the organization of cloud situations. Strengths use the cloud to store their own information with the goal of collecting security information. There is more concern about the cloud status among the transfer of information on the cloud server. Cloud Web encourages its customers by providing virtual assets through the web. Since the distributed computing field is spread, new mechanisms have been created. This expansion in the distribution computing state extends the security challenges of cloud designers. If security is strong and stable, computing will bring the match and points in the table, which will have some credibility. Cloud providers and cloud buyers should ensure that the clouds are adequately protected from all external exposures so that the customer does not face any problem, such as harassment or theft, your important information. By optimizing approved customers, it is accessible to the cloud and affects whole cloud transit and there is a possibility to affect many consumers who share contaminated clouds. This document shows the audit of delivery of computing and cloud computing distribution of distributed computing and natural security problems. This paper is planning to show a review of computing distribution, which answers the challenges in the cloud. In addition, find out the answer to the new system or the loss of the techniques distributed by the cloud computing. Read More...

Road Accidents in India
-Anil Sindher ; Er. Paramjeet
The road accident scene in India, as in many developing countries, is characterized by mixed traffic comprising human-powered vehicles such as bicycles and tricycles (cycle rickshaws), animal-drawn carts, and motor vehicles of various sizes and speeds. Different kinds of models built in various countries to study the accident scene have been discussed. It is shown that these models are not comprehensive in accounting all the variable associated with the traffic accident scene. It has also been shown that a large number of variables are to be used to study the accident scenes of Indian urban roads. Variable such as handrail index, congestion index, byclelane index, pedestrian violators, disturbance index, intersection between different kinds of modes, road features etc. are considered as independent variables inflecting the accident scenes. Multiple Linear Regression approach is selected as the suitable approach to build the model to account all variables. Delhi City are considered for detailed analysis. Data collected from 2017 to 2018 have been used to build the model and evaluate its effectiveness. Statistical techniques have been used to study its accent ability. The model recommended for estimating road traffic accidents in an urban arterial for six-month period has fifteen independent variables. The model is found to estimate the accident scenes with a variation of 10%. In most of the cases. The model has been used to estimate the future accident scene. It has also been shown how introduction of bicycle track and pedestrian guard handrails along kerbs could change the accident scene. Read More...

Development of Numerical Model of Natural Convection Heat Transfer for Wire-mesh Vertical Fin
-Abdullah F. Ansari ; Meeta S. Vedpathak
The finite difference method in conjunction with least square scheme and experimental temperature data is used to evaluate the approximate value of heat transfer coefficient on the wire-mesh fins in natural convection for various fin spacing and height of the fin. In present study the effect of radiation is neglected and only convection phenomenon is used to predict the heat transfer coefficient in natural convection. Since distribution of temperature on the entire surface is assumed to be uniform, hence the heat transfer coefficient on this wire-mesh fin is assumed to be uniform. Moreover the whole fin surface is divided into several sub-fin regions or discretised in small domain to predict the value of heat transfer coefficient and with the help of governing equation, obtain the value of temperature distribution which then finally compared with the experimental data. The result shows that the value of h (Heat transfer coefficient) increases with increasing the fin spacing between two fins. The fin temperature departs from the ideal isothermal situation and decreases more rapidly away from the base with increasing the fin spacing. In order to validate the accuracy of the present finite difference method, a comparison of temperature value at different location obtained by experiment and by finite difference method on the fin, is made. Cyber Security Monitoring in India by Probability Calculation
-Priyanka Kushwaha ; Deepak Agrawal
The 'security sensitivity' is unlikely to alter through enhancements to usability alone rather; angle changes need future social amendment. Yet, to date, very little theoretical add usable privacy and security has applied science theory to know however social processes have an effect on security sensitivity. In turn, this lack of theoretical insight has precluded systems work that accounts for the social consequences of security system style. Thus, there remains an excellent however for the most part untapped chance to model human social behaviours among the context of cyber security and in making socially intelligent security systems that have an improved understanding of those human social behaviours. To bridge these gaps in theory and observe, during this thesis, I supply Associate in adversary initial theory of however social influences have an effect on cyber security behaviours, distil these theoretical insights into a group of broad style recommendations, so implement and appraise to such systems that time to a way forward for social intelligent cyber security.
