Analysis of Experimental Studies on Pool Boiling Characteristics of Nanofluids
-Anil Kumar ; Amit Kumar
Presently, pool boiling critical heat flux (CHFs) and heat transfer coefficient (HTC) are observed in nanofluids using alumina (Al2O3) and multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) nanoparticles dispersed distilled water. For the purpose, pool boiling characteristics of distilled water are first observed and validated using Rohsenow's correlation. Nanofluids are used at nanoparticle weight of concentrations of 0.01%, 0.03% and 0.1%. In order to enhance the dispersion stability surfactants sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) and Triton X-100 are used with 1% concentration, individually. The experiment is carried out using a electrically heated stainless steel wires for studying CHFs and stainless steel cartridge heatersfor studying HTCs. The comparison of boiling CHFs is done from bare and nanoparticles deposited surfaces in distilled water. Also, the effect of adding the surfactants in the nanofluids is measured on the mentioned parameters. It is noticed that pool boiling characteristics get affected by nanoparticle concentration with added surfactants. HTC deterioration is measured with enhanced nanoparticle concentration while CHF increment is noticed with decreasing nanoparticle concentration. In all, CHFs increment upto 150% is observed, while up to 50% deterioration in HTCs is observed at heat flux is within a limit of 100kW/m2 to 500kW/m2. Read More...

Analysis of Experimental Studies on Pool Boiling Characteristics of Nanofluids
-Anil Kumar ; Amit Kumar
Among the topics of research in this area, the use of nanofluids as a heat transfer fluid has drawn much attention recently. Within the last five years work investigating the pool-boiling of these fluid has increased dramatically. However, the existing literature on the subject shows some varying results that need further investigation to interpret. An experimental study was performed studying the behavior of gold nanofluids during pool-boiling. In these experiments it was found that while the heat transfer decreased about 20% over the critical heat flux (CHF) was increased 2.8 times for the 3 nm sized particles. For 15 nm particles the CHF was increased over 3.5 times over pure water with a maximum at nearly 5 times amplification. After performing the experiments, scanning electron microscope images were taken of the surface as a deposition of nanoparticles was observed on the surface. It is this surface deposition that is the source of the altered boiling curves as pure water on the nanoparticle deposited surface behaves similarly to the nanofluid curve. Also, a set of experiments were also performed using HFE 7000 where no CHF enhancement was observed. Further investigation was performed to determine the source of this enhancement including an examination of the wetting characteristics of the surface. However, using existing correlations predicting the critical heat flux it was seen that the wetting of the surface likely is not the sole source of the enhanced CHF. Read More...

Design and Analysis of Quadcopter Frame and Propeller
-Mr. V. Keerthivasan ; Mr. T. Anbarasan; Mr. S. Kamaraj; Ms. M. Satwika
Quadcopters generally use two pairs of identical fixed pitched propellers; two clockwise (CW) and two counterclockwise (CCW). These use independent variation of the speed of each rotor to achieve control. By changing the speed of each rotor it is possible to specifically generate a desired total thrust; to locate for the centre of thrust both laterally and longitudinally; and to create a desired total torque, or turning force. A quadcopter, also called a quadrotor helicopter or quadrotor, is a multirotor helicopter that is lifted and propelled by four rotors. Battery was used as a power source to run the motors, thereby propellers. Modeling and Analysis are the two important unavoidable steps in manufacturing any component or structure. In this paper we were concentrating on design and analysis of a Quadcopter frame and propeller. The modeling was done by a software, named PTC Creo while the analysis was done using ANSYS. The results obtained were compared with the various properties of frame materials which tell us whether the design made was safe or not. Read More...

Seismic Analysis of Reinforced Concrete Exterior Wide Beam-Column Joints using Fiber Reinforced Polymer
-Najiya Kabeer
In reinforced concrete structures, beam column joints are considered as most damageable structural element subjected to lateral loads. This research aims to the finite element study of exterior wide beam column joints by using fiber reinforced polymers by considering horizontal cyclic loads. This topic of work was decided as the present scenario of the beam column joints are the most venerable failures due to poor work man ship and lack of detailing of reinforcement. These failures can be rehabilitated by using glass and carbon fiber reinforced polymers at the exterior wide beam column joints. Use of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites for strengthening of beams and columns in RC structures has attracted great attention in recent decades. The free end of the column is subjected to cyclic loading. Three specimen is considered and one is unstrengthened, second one is strengthened with CFRP and third one is strengthened with GFRP were modelled and analysed. An effective re-habitation strategy is in order to increase the ductility of the wide beam column joint and transfer the failure mode to beam or delay the shear failure mode. The stress and deformation results were evaluated and compared their results with strengthened and unstrengthened specimen. The numerical result shows that the beam column joint strengthened with CFRP and GFRP can increase their structural stiffness, strength, ductility and energy dissipation capacity. Read More...

Hybrid Source Feed Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) with Regenerative Braking using Supercapacitor
-Snehal R. Gautre ; Nilesh M. Chamat
The vehicle is propelled by the utilization of electric engines. The PMPS motor are controlled up by the batteries. The batteries are charged either by the utilization of photovoltaic module or it is charged by the utilization of electrical plugs. For controlling any vehicle braking is utilized frequently. During which the power is wasted in the form of heat. This happens as a result of the use of frictional brakes. This heat loss is disposed of by utilizing regenerative braking technique. In this kind of electrical breaking the energy is separated back to the fast storing device called super capacitor banks. The super capacitors stores the electrical energy in short order. Because of the over drawing of current by the super capacitor the vehicles lows down instantly. The super capacitors are energized at whatever point the brake is connected. This removed power can be utilized to run the vehicle for couple of more separation or it can be used for energizing the vehicle loads. From this the losses are reduced and vehicle productivity is moved forward. Read More...

Experimental Study on Effect of Crumb Rubber in Concrete Mix
-Puneeth K ; Harshitha S; Kiran C; Sukrutha N; Deepak P
Concrete is considered to be the most widely used and versatile material of construction all over the world. In recent years, concrete technology has made significant advances which have resulted in economical improvements in strength of concrete. This economic development depends upon the intelligent use of locally available materials. One of the important ingredients of conventional concrete is natural sand or river sand. Scarcity of good quality Natural River sand due to depletion of resources and restriction due to environmental consideration has made concrete manufactures to look for suitable alternative fine aggregate. One such alternative is "crumb rubber". Because of crushing quarries and converting them as fine aggregates, demand for coarse aggregates also increases. To meet this demand, another alternative to river sand is crumb rubber which can be used as fine aggregates in manufacturing concrete. An attempt has been made in this study to determine the compressive strength of M20 grade concrete using crumb rubber as replacement for fine aggregate. Read More...

Vindictive IP Trackback: Revealing the Area of IP Spoofers with Efficient Tracking
-Jaeerahmad Indikar ; Irfan Bagawan
In IP spoofing attack, malicious node disguise their real location from victim nodes using fake IP (Internet Protocol) address, which is a major disadvantage in present internet architecture. This crime in the internet is controlled by deploying the technology named as Internet Protocol (IP) trackback technique. This project primarily focuses on IP spoofing attack, which is among one of the Denial of Service (DoS) attack. IP spoofing attack is one among the challenging issue in the internet. This trackback technique proposes a novel features to track the origin of spoofers with best tracking performance than existing techniques, as an enhancement to existing trackback techniques. Analysis of simulation results and implementation of real time system, illustrates that this IP trackback needs to add very small amount of packets, which would load the routers moderately to accomplish the objective of tracking to detect the spoofers in a vast internet. The enhanced system IP trackback mechanism achieves the objective of accomplishing best possible results on trackback although when router is loaded at its maximum. DDoS defence motivates this trackback technique. Read More...

The effective uses of a shaft are limited at its maximum operational junction frequency. The study was conducted by using the Finite element method. The shafts are used with flow of with rotation such as compresses, turbine and industrial applications. The major study was done on shaft by using different materials with different shaft profile of Solid with two and Three Cracks. A natural frequency was analysed and critical speed was predicted by using Campbell diagram and analysis was also performed for validation. The results show that solid shaft and material like Gray cast iron of shaft decreases the critical speed with increase in a RPM simultaneously. The natural frequency of shaft is compared by using two types of materials and is predicted that at solid shaft with two and three cracks of shaft profile an alloy 6061 gives better frequencies in different modes. Alloy 6061 material shaft are made by powder metrology and gray cast iron material shaft are made by casting and gray cast iron is made by remelting pig iron. Performance of a Structure under Different Ground Motions
-Baldev Barde ; Prof. Vinay Kumar Singh Chandrakar
Structural dynamic is a mandatory graduate level course for structural engineering student all around the world. In civil engineering structures are mostly designed based on prescriptive methods of standard codes. Usually loads on these structures are of low magnitude which results in elastic structural behavior. However, strong loads such as a sudden earthquake will lead the structure beyond its elastic limit. Generally 4 kinds of earthquake ground motions are considered such as Fault Normal, Fault Parallel, Near Fault and Far Fault components. In the current study the performance of a structure in a single degree of freedom system is investigated under different ground motions such as Fault normal and Fault parallel component of the ground motion by dynamic time history analysis method and the analysis is done in the SEISMOSTRUCT software developed by the SEISMOSOFT Company. The Acceleration, Velocity and displacement curves have been drawn for both Fault Normal and Fault Parallel component of Far Fault and Near Fault ground motion. The values of acceleration, velocity, displacement have been found in every 0.005 seconds, also the values of Peak Ground Acceleration, Peak Ground Velocity and Peak Ground Displacement has been determined for both components. The values of PGA, PGV, PGD obtained for fault normal component are higher than the values obtained for the fault parallel component of the ground motion, also the frequencies of fault normal component of ground motion are more than that of the fault parallel component of ground motion. The values of Peak Ground Acceleration, Peak Ground Velocity and Peak Ground Displacement of Fault Normal and Fault parallel components don't differ much for Far Fault earthquake ground motions, but they differ much for Near Fault Earthquake ground motions. The response spectrum curves are different for each kind of earthquake ground motions, hence it means that the structure have different responses to each kind of earthquake ground motions. -Chinnam Durga Jayateja ; B. V. S. Raghu Vamsi; Dr. P. Nageswara Reddy
Triaxiality is the ratio of hydro static pressure to the von-mises effective stress. As the triaxiality of the stress state influences greatly the amount of plastic strain, a material may undergo the ductile failure before actual failure occurs. This study gives the mathematical model for crack tip opening displacement (CTOD) based M-criterion model and used to study the effect of CTOD on stress Triaxiality and compare with simple M-criterion. Finite element analysis of single edge cracked rectangular plate is carried out in order to support the relations developed and validate the work. Optimization is carried out in order to determine maximum stress triaxiality and corresponding CTOD and crack initiation angle. Read More...

Sentiment Analysis on Twitter
-Pooja Katti ; T Srinivasa Rao
In this world of growing technologies everything has been computerized. This project addresses the problem of sentiment analysis in twitter; that is classifying tweets according to the sentiment expressed in them: positive, negative or neutral. Twitter is an online micro-blogging and social-networking platform which allows users to write short status updates of maximum length 140 characters. It is a rapidly expanding service with over 200 million registered users out of which 100 million are active users and half of them log on twitter on a daily basis generating nearly 250 million tweets per day. Due to this large amount of usage we hope to achieve a reflection of public sentiment by analyzing the sentiments expressed in the tweets. Analyzing the public sentiment is important for many applications such as firms trying to find out the response of their products in the market, predicting political elections and predicting socioeconomic phenomena like stock exchange. Crash Test Analysis on Automobile Bumper
-R. Sampathkumar ; Padmakumaar DS
A good design of car bumper must have optimized weight and must provide safety to passengers. Different countries have different performance standards for bumpers. Under the International safety regulations originally developed as European standards and now adopted by most countries outside North America, a car's safety systems must still function normally after a straight-on pendulum or moving-barrier impact of 4 km/h (2.5 mph) to the front and the rear, and to the front and rear corners of 2.5 km/h (1.6 mph) at 45.5 cm (18 in) above the ground with the vehicle loaded or unloaded.. Due to increasing competency now a day's tests are carried out at some higher velocities such as 10 m/s to increase the safety level of vehicle. Increased safety of vehicle helps to claim for larger insurance amount. Automotive development cycles are getting shorter by the day. With increasing competition in the marketplace, the OEM's and suppliers main challenge is to come up with time-efficient design solutions. Researchers are trying to improve many of existing designs using novel approaches. Many times there is conflicting performance and cost requirements, this puts additional challenge with R&D units to come up with a number of alternative design solutions in less time and cost compared to existing designs. These best solutions are best achieved in a CAE environment using some of the modern CAD and FEM tools. Such tools are capable of effecting quick changes in the design within virtual environment. High Strength Concrete Hollow Beam
-K. Vijaya Sundravel ; Alaguvel. T; Eswaran P
Hollow section have been increasing applied in the construction of buildings, bridges, offshore structures, and towers for passing electrical and mechanical pipes or other utilities. Torsion caused by external force is a weakness of hollow sections that is rarely investigated. In particular, the behaviour of hollow sections with high-strength concrete (HSC) and ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) remains poorly studied. This study aims to examine the behaviour of a reinforced concrete hollow beam with opening and compare it with a hollow beam without opening. The hollow beam with an opening is modeled using the finite element method and analysed under torsional, flexural, and cyclic loading with HSC and UHPC materials. The effect of the opening section size on the behaviour of hollow beam is also evaluated. The opening created in the web of hollow beams led to a decrease in beam capacity although the hollow beam with small opening can carry almost the same load as that of hollow beam without an opening. The results also shows that the capacity of UHPC beams for twisting is that of HSC beam. Read More...

Seismic Analysis of Interlocking Blocks in Walls
-Mubeena Salam ; S. Siva Rama Krishana
Generally RC framed structures are designed without regards to structural action of masonry infill walls present. Masonry infill walls are widely used as partitions. These buildings are generally designed as framed structures without regard to structural action of masonry infill walls. They are considered as non- structural elements. RC frame building with open first storey is known as soft storey, which performs poorly during strong earthquake shaking. Past earthquakes are evident that collapses due to soft storeys are most often in RC buildings. In the soft storey, columns are severely stressed and unable to provide adequate shear resistance during the earthquake. Hence a combination of two structural system components i.e. Rigid frames and RC shear walls or Rigid frames and Bracings leads to a highly efficient system in which shear wall and bracings resist the majority of the lateral loads and the frame supports majority of the gravity loads. From the above studies it has been observed that non-linear pushover analysis provide good estimate of global as well as local inelastic deformation demands and also reveals design weakness that may remain hidden in an elastic analysis and also the performance level of the structure. Storey drifts are found within the limit as specified by code (IS: 1893-2002 part-1) in both linear static, linear dynamic and non-linear static analysis. Read More...

Experimental Study on Effect of GGBS on High Strength Concrete
-Kavita Shirsath ; Prof. Kawade U. R.
Concrete is the most widely used man-made construction material in the construction world. It is obtained by mixing cement aggregate sand water in required proportion. With increase in demand of concrete, more and more new methods and new materials are being developed for production of concrete. Sometimes certain additives are added to it to improve or alter some properties. Making concrete is an art which has to be perfectly done, otherwise that will end up with bad concrete. Hence as a Civil Engineer one should be thorough with the entire factors from which a good concrete is produced. A concrete using cement alone as a binder requires high paste volume ,which often leads to excessive shrinkage and large evolution of heat of hydration ,besides increased cost .An attempt is made to replace cement by a mineral admixture ,(i.e.),ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) in concrete mixes to overcome these problems. This paper presents the workability study of concrete with GGBS as are placement material for cement with addition of superplasticiser. Concrete grades of M40 have been taken for the work. The mixes were designed using IS Code method. GGBS replacement adopted was 0% to 50. Slump test, Compaction factor test, Vee Bee Consistometer test was conducted. Effect of replacement of cement by GGBS at various percentages and on the grades of concrete chosen with Superplasticiser This paper focuses on investigating characteristics of M40 grade concrete with partial replacement of cement with ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) by replacing cement 0% to 50% The cubes, cylinders and beam are tested for compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength. Finite Element Analysis of Flat Slab with Punching Shear Reinforcement
-Lakshmi Prakash A ; Aswathy P
Punching shear failure is a major problem encountered in the design of reinforced concrete flat slabs. The utilization of shear reinforcement via shear bolts, shear studs or other means has becomes a choice for improving punching shear capacity. In this paper Finite-element analyses (FEA) of flat slab with shear reinforcement are presented and discussed. The punching shear strengthening is done using carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips which is externally bonded to the tension face of the slab. The effect of varying CFRP strengthening amount and configuration on the punching shear capacity of the slab specimens was investigated. The results clearly showed that CFRP strengthening leads to signiï¬cant improvements in the structural behaviour of slab-column connections. The general finite element software ANSYS 18 can be used successfully to simulate the punching shear behaviour of reinforced concrete flat plates. Read More...

Vehicle Collision Control with Over Speed Detection
-Gouri
This project presents a system to detect rash driving on highways. In case of any violation of rules it helps the traffic authorities. In past, lot of devices was made to detect rash driving on highways. Most of the approaches require human concentration and involve a lot of effort, which is difficult to implement. The main aim is to design a system for early detection and alert of dangerous vehicle driving patterns related to rash driving. The presence of a vehicle is detected by IR sensor. A set point of a pair of sensors comprises an IR transmitter and an IR receiver, each of which are installed on either sides of the road. Whenever IR rays are interrupted by a vehicle during first sensor the count up timer is started. When the other IR sensor senses the presence of vehicle, the count up timer is stopped. The speed limit set by the device is kept at the very location depending upon the traffic. The time taken by the vehicle to travel from one set point to the other is calculated by a microcontroller program. Based on that time it then calculates the speed. The LCD is used to display the speed of the vehicle. If the vehicle crosses the speed limit, a buzzer sounds alerting the police. The main motive behind coming up with this system is to increase the safety features of the vehicles. For measuring the distance ultrasonic sensor is used. Read More...

Fundamentally this was developed for fixing the bugs and passed to the developer via module leader or team leader in the project. When bug is found after testing the project by tester if bug is found is to be passed to the team leader or project leader. Latter he will get clarification about it thoroughly it shall be passed on to the developer again finally it will be fixed here and rectified by this developer and then it will be sent to tester. Again tester tests it if then no problem project developing is happing successfully otherwise again he fixes the error found. As it previous, it happens in cyclic way so problems can be known easily in developing project and without facing any problem they move to next step. This project plays as heart of the s/w company without developing or having this type of Flaw Tracker no one software company. When they employee will be developing any project for their client they have to know on which day project was started implementing, how far it had come, how many are involving in doing that project, by what time they can guess it can be completed by viewing the details of progressed project.
