Optimal Route Finder using Genetic Algorithm
-Arvind Lal ; Prerna Rai; Rahul Verma
The primary operation requirement in a large area network is a query of shortest distance. Finding the shortest route from source to destination is one of the major problems faced in the network. This paper provides an implementation of solving one of the problems of finding a shortest route using a algorithm known as Genetic algorithm. Genetic algorithms are the evolutionary techniques for finding the fittest gene amongst all the combination of chromosomes using crossover and mutations over the chromosomes. The purpose is to find the most approximate solution that gives us the least distance, which is the shortest route for traversing the cities. This problem a salesman has to traverse n number of cities in such way that it gives a 'uni' directed graph and each city is visited only once. We accomplish this by carrying out the algorithm through generating a fitness formula and with the help of genetic operators like selection, crossover and mutation. Read More...

Dispersion of Multiple Sessile Droplets on Surface by an Airflow
-T. B Sundaresan
A droplet which is placed on a surface and is exposed to an airflow, can be shed, if the drag force overcomes the droplet's adhesion force. Presence of other sessile droplets, in proximity, changes the drag force, so the minimum airflow velocity required to shed the droplets (UCR) can vary. In this thesis, an experimental study on shedding of the multiple sessile droplets was performed on both hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces. The effects of the droplets' arrangement type, and the spacing on UCR were elucidate. For a pair of sessile droplets, a model was proposed to predict the UCR based on droplets' size, spacing, arrangement, and surface wettability. For three, or four sessile droplets arranged in triangle, square, reversed triangle, and diamond configurations, the effects of the droplets' interaction on variation of the UCR, was clarified. A critical value for spacing was determined beyond which multiple sessile droplets shed independently. Read More...

-Jash B. Mota ; Dheeraj Nayyar; Nilay Oza; Yash Shetye
This paper showcases use of the principle of piezoelectricity to harvest energy through pedestrians' footsteps and collect data about pedestrians like locomotion pattern and tracking. The configuration of piezoelectric material underneath a plywood panel allows it to be interconnected to cover an area of any given size and shape. These interconnected panels help visualize the area as an array of panels and view information about presence of a pedestrian, locomotion pattern and pattern prediction, as well as to control the state of a variable. This pedestrian locomotion pattern data can be used for making decisions about designing a floor layout at railway stations, airports, similar public places, and for product placements in shops, malls and supermarkets. The energy generated can be used to power up streetlights, public Wi-Fis and helps in contributing towards generating more renewable energy, as non-renewable energy resources are plummeting and it may not be possible to harness solar or hydro power at all times. Non-Linear Numerical Schemes for Exact Solutions of Initial Value Problems
-Prem Kumar ; Prof. Asif Ali Shaikh; Ass. Prof. Sania Qureshi
In this paper, two first order convergent numerical schemes having nonlinearity in their nature have been extensively explored for their possible exact application upon initial value problems in ordinary differential equations. These two schemes have been Taylor expanded for the purpose of getting their first principal term of the local truncation error which has later been equated to zero in order to get the general form of the underlying ordinary differential equation. In this way, it has been shown that some forms of initial value problems can be obtained which produce exact solutions when these nonlinear schemes under consideration are employed on them. The obtained tabular results in the section of numerical experiments represent the exact solution obtained through the schemes. The technical computing software MAPLE 2016 running under 64-bit operating system with Windows 7 has been used to computations outputs. Read More...

Review on Redefined Transportation System: Hyperloop
-Prof. Rushikesh D. Sonar ; Prof. Sunil S. Raut; Prof. Deepak K. Patil
Existing conventional modes of transportation of peoples consists of four unique types: rail, road, water and air. These modes of transport tend to be either relatively slow (e.g., road and water), expensive (e.g., air), or combination of both (e.g., rail). Hyperloop is a new mode of transport that seeks to change this paradigm by being both fast and inexpensive for peoples and goods. Hyperloop is also unique in that it is an open design concept, similar to Linux. Feedback is desired from the community that can help advance the Hyperloop design and bring it from concept to reality. Hyperloop consist of a low pressure tube with capsules that are transported at both low and high speeds throughout the length of the tube. Read More...

Effect of Pouring Temperature in Al-16Si-1%Al2O3 Hypereutectic Alloys
-J. Majhi ; S .K. Sahoo; S. C. Patnaik; B. Sarangi; A. Behera
In Al-Si hypereutectic alloys, the mechanical properties are affected by grain size, volume fraction and distribution of both primary as well as eutectic silicon. The instantaneous refinement and modification of primary and secondary Si particles in hypereutectic Al-Si alloys are very difficult through conventional processes. This paper investigates the effect of pouring temperature on Si particles during solidification in hypereutectic Al-16Si-1%Al2O3 alloys at particular rotation speed. It has been reported that the interfacial bonding between the dispersed phase and liquid matrix was good in the synthesized composites achieved in order to provide improved mechanical properties. The wear behaviour and hardness of the cast product of hypereutectic Al-16Si alloy significantly varies at different pouring temperatures. The dry sliding wear test has been performed on a group of specimens with varying parameters (at different temperature with different load and sliding velocities) in a pin on disc wear testing machine. However in XRD analysis of the samples depicted the formation of brittle phases like SiO2, Al2O3 and Al-rich intermetallic compounds. The hardness value of the materials increases with increasing pouring temperature where as it was again decreases with increasing higher pouring temperature. Read More...

-Mr. V. M. Gnanasundar ; Mr. G. Sellakumar; Mr. B. Surendhar
Rapid urbanization and industrialization cause a lot of infrastructure development is taking place in the last two decades. Due to this process, it leads a big problem. There are so many shortages of construction materials, increasing of wastes and other products. All the waste products have to be recycled in order to create a balance between production and disposal of wastes. The other alternative uses found are to use waste plastics in the Construction Industry. In this project we used the waste plastics in Cement Concrete construction. Standard Mix ratio for framed and unframed structure is M20, since it gives maximum strength to the structure to bear the Loads. Plastics are used in various ways for our project used as modifier. Plastics are added in the percentage of 2%, 4%, 6%, etc…, for the replacement of cement and sand. Many tests were conducted for the materials and determine their physical and mechanical properties. From those results Experimental investigations comprised of testing for physical requirements of Course Aggregates (CA), Fine Aggregates (FA), cement and the modifier. From that result the replacement content was 6% and the strength was found to be twice than plain cement concrete. While using modifier in rigid concrete pavement, it leads to decrease in size of the elements. Read More...

A Review: Non-destructive Testing Methods
-Abhishek Rawat ; Hitesh Kodwani
Civil engineering constructions are combination of several members resisting the imposed load which can transfer the load safely to the earth through foundations. The major property which defines the quality of concrete is the strength of composing material. Deterioration of RC structures made an alarming situation for researchers and scholars for focusing on the durability affecting parameters along with crushing strength, various uncontrollable parameters like environmental or exposure conditions are equally important for the service life of structures. Rusting of reinforcement in reinforced concrete diminishes the service life and exacerbates concrete structures causing early stage failure of structures. Therefore, assessing present condition of reinforced concrete structures is essential for planning, repairs and replacement of structures. Read More...

Dynamic Analysis of a Tall Unsymmetrical Building Frame Considering Effect of Infill Masonry and Steel Bracing System
-Yamini Nagwanshi ; Hitesh Kodwani
In a country like India, where population is growing rapidly with development of the nation, this is resulting in lack of space ultimately asking for tall structures in order to create space for every individual. Some parts of India are under seismic zone V, which needs utmost care and safety, thus there is a need of lateral load resisting members in a tall structures. In this study we are analyzing a G+12 tall structure, considering seismic zone V (response spectrum method) with soft soil condition, for analysis and modelling, ETABS'17 is used. Here we are considering infill masonry wall frame and steel bracing system frame for comparison. The steel bracing system and Infill masonry in reinforced concrete frames is viable for resisting lateral forces, steel bracing is easy to erect occupies less space and has flexibility in design for meeting the required strength and stiffness whereas Infill masonry is easy to assign with unskilled labors. In this comparative study, it is concluded that Steel bracing at exterior shows desirable stability than other cases in terms of resisting forces and moment. Also, in terms of cost effectiveness steel bracing system is quite suitable for lateral load resisting whereas Infill masonry structure is second alternate whereas bare frame case shows worst result. Therefore, it can be justifying that steel bracing frame is overall more stable than bare frame. Read More...
