Review on Light Weight-Cryptography and Future Challenges
-Aneeta. S. Musthafa
Cryptography is the study of hiding information. It is the method of reworking on the message to make them secure and resistant to attack .In cryptography the original message is converted into other message at the encryption side and reconverted into original message at the receiver side. For constrained devices normal cryptographic algorithms can be too slow, too big and time consuming. The term Light weight cryptography studies new algorithms to outdo this problem. This technique is generally used for resource constrained devices. (RFID tags & WSN are EGS) Light -weight encryption is a combination of two terms "light and weight "and it is a sector of a classical cryptographic algorithms. Light weight encryptions and decryptions are implemented on platforms as well as hardware and software. This paper presents the analysis study on the common use of recent hardware and software implementations of symmetric and asymmetric ciphers. Read More...

-Manish Kumar Patel ; P. K. Roy; Mayank Gupta
RBI grade-81 have a good potential to reduce the cost of pavement layers if weak sub-grade is encountered on the alignment. On low volume paved roads, designers should consider the installation of RBI grade-81 to improve the California Bearing Ratio. Reduce layer thickness and increase a structural number of pavement. RBI grade-81 support gave in a solitary or multilayer to sublevel expands the quality of the dirt and in this way decrease the thickness of asphalt; thus reducing the cost of pavement construction. AT CBR value of 3%:- Total pavement thickness for CBR 3 % and traffic 5.5 MSA from IRC: 37 2012 PLATE 1 = 697 mm. AT CBR value of 15%:- Total pavement thickness for CBR 15% and traffic 5.5 MSA from IRC: 37 2012 PLATE 16 = 471.5 mm. Total 47.82% material saving from my study shows that. Read More...

Technology has positive impacts on many aspects of our social life. Designing a 24 hour globally connected architecture enables ease of access to a variety of resources and services. Furthermore, technology like the Internet has been a fertile ground for innovation and creativity. One such disruptive innovation is blockchain – a keystone of cryptocurrencies. The blockchain technology is presented as a game changer for many of the existing and emerging technologies/services. With its immutability property and decentralized architecture, it is taking centre stage in many services as an equalization factor to the current parity between consumers and large corporations/governments. One potential application of the blockchain is in e-voting schemes. The objective of such a scheme would be to provide a decentralized architecture to run and support a voting scheme that is open, fair, and independently verifiable. In this work, we propose a potential new e-voting protocol that utilizes the blockchain as a transparent ballot box. The protocol has been designed to adhere to fundamental e-voting properties as well as offer a degree of decentralization and allow for the voter to change/update their vote. Read More...

-Prabhakar Singh ; Amol Kumar Tripathi; Abhilash Shukla
Environmental awareness today motivates the researchers, worldwide on the studies of natural fibre reinforced polymer composite and cost effective option to synthetic fibre reinforced composites. The availability of natural fibres and ease of manufacturing have tempted researchers to try locally available inexpensive fibres and to study their feasibility of reinforcement purposes and to what extent they satisfy the required specifications of good reinforced polymer composite for different applications. With low cost and high specific mechanical properties, natural fibre represents a good renewable and biodegradable alternative to the most common synthetic reinforcement, i.e. glass fibre. The growing interest in the past few decades to produce green materials that can reduce the continual environmental problems posed by non-biodegradable synthetic polymer wastes has resulted to the development of composite materials that make used of biodegradable polymers. However, biodegradable polymers like thermoplastic starch suffer from having lower softening temperatures and lower modulus. Read More...

Curing and Effects of Curing
-Sumedh Sunil Gadgil
There are a lot of arguments on which method of curing concrete gives good strength. These different opinions results into this study, which aim at investigating the effects of different curing methods on the strength of concrete. Laboratory test was employed for this study. Normal concretes were prepared using specified mix ratio of 1:2:4 and 1:3:6. The cubes tested for compressive strength at 7 and 28 days of curing respectively using different curing methods namely immersion, sprinkling, polythene sheeting, self-curing, steam curing etc. Testing indicate that water immersion curing method as well as sprinkling (spraying) methods of curing, provide better results than other methods of curing with respect to feasibility, ease availability, cost etc.. The scarcity of freshwater in densely populated urban centres has necessitated conservative utilization of depleting water resources. Membrane curing compounds and Self-curing agents methods up to some extent as they can be used in inaccessible areas, vertical structures, water scarce areas etc. As a part of durability study, this paper describes the effect of sea water on compressive strength of concrete when used as mixing and curing water. Concrete cubes of M30 grade were casted and plain water as well as sea water was used as mixing water in making the test specimens. Test specimens were cured under sea water as well as plain water up to 28 days with different curing methods. Proper curing of concrete is crucial to obtain design strength and maximum durability. The curing period depends on the required properties of concrete, the purpose for which it is to be used, and the surrounding atmosphere namely temperature and relative humidity. Read More...

Impact of Fire in Reinforced Concrete Building
-Ragheeb Obaid ; Kamlesh Saha
With the increased incidents of major fires in buildings; assessment, repairs and rehabilitation of fire damaged structures has become a topical interest. This is a specialized field involves expertise in many areas like concrete technology, material science and testing, structural engineering, repair materials and techniques etc. Research and developmental efforts are being carried out in this area and other related disciplines. In this topic the experience of real life problems are presented which add immense value to this. This topic also gives a comprehensive knowledge on the overall strategy for the restoration of fire damaged buildings and also presents a critical appraisal of the assessment procedures by different non-destructive techniques, specifications and execution of repair techniques. The experimentation has been done to find out the impact of the fire on reinforcement steel bars by heating the bars to 100°, 300°, 600°, 900° centigrade of 6 samples each. The heated samples are rapidly cooled by quenching in water and normally by air cooling. The change in the mechanical properties are studied using universal testing machine (UTM). The general conclusion is that majority of fire damaged RCC structures are repairable. But the impact of elevated temperature above 900°C on the reinforcement bars was observed that there is significant reduction in ductility when rapidly cooled by quenching. In the same case when cooled in normal atmospheric conditions the impact of temperature on ductility is not high. By heating the reinforcement bars, the mechanical properties can be changed without varying the chemical composition. Read More...

Free Vibration of Cracked Stepped Beam with Multiple Transverse Cracks
-Ankit Jaiswal ; Kamlesh Saha
The present study outlines free vibration analysis of uniform and stepped beam subjected with single to multiple cracks using Finite Element Method (FEM) in MATLAB environment. The crack considered is transverse crack which open in nature. Due to the presence of crack, the total flexibility matrix is established by adding local additional flexibility matrix to the flexibility matrix of the corresponding intact beam element. The results obtained from experimental are checked for accuracy with the present analysis by plotting non dimensional frequencies for first three modes as function of crack depth ratios for different locations of cracks. Components with varying cross-sections are most common in buildings and bridges as well as in machine parts. The stability of such structural members subjected to compressive forces is a topic of considerable scientific and practical interest. Tapered and stepped columns are very much useful in structural engineering because of their reduced weight compared to uniform columns for the same axial load carrying capacity or buckling load. In the current study free vibration and buckling analysis of a cracked two stepped cantilever column is analyzed by finite element method for various compressive loads. Simple beam element with two degrees of freedom is considered for the analysis. FEM of the intact beam element is found as per standard procedures. FEM for cracked beam element is found from the total flexibility matrix of the cracked beam element by inverse method in line with crack mechanics and published papers by researchers. Eigen value problem is solved for free vibration analysis of the stepped column under different compressive load. Variation of free vibration frequencies for different crack depths and crack locations is studied for successive increase in compressive load. Buckling load of the column is estimated from the vibration analysis. Read More...

-Khushboo ; Sat Pal
Integrated Biometrics is a rising domain in biometric technology where more than one biometric trait is combined to improve the performance. Integrated biometrics has much higher efficiency than unimodal biometrics. Integrating the biometric system results in enlarge the user database but increase the level of security. In this paper, a study of integrated biometrics has been done with five biometrics considered face, iris, ear, palm and finger respectively. In biometric system, Problems arise when integrated performing recognition in a high-dimensional space. Signiï¬cant improvements can be achieved by mapping the data into a lower dimensionality space. This can be done by PCA approach. PCA method reduces memory requirement of the system and computation time. This paper presents a method for face, iris, fingerprint, palm print and ear recognition based on Principal Component Analysis (PCA). I have applied the same PCA algorithm for all these biometric traits. Read More...

Energy Efficiency Evaluation in HetNet Uplink Transmission: A Survey
-Yogendra Singh Parmar ; Manish Gurjar; Anshul Awasthi
In a wireless system communication, the radio signals are diminished as they travel from side to side from air. HetNet is a precise persuasive methodology for cellular networks to make available the capacity and coverage required to move onward. Heterogeneous elements examples consist of picocells, microcells, femtocells, as well as disseminated antenna systems also remote radio heads, which are famed by their physical size, transmit powers/ coverage areas, propagation characteristics and backhaul. However, as the transmission rate and the power consumption, both dependent on the power control coefficient of FPC, become coupled, energy efficiency analysis of FPC in the uplink is complicated. Different from point-to-point wireless links, energy efficiency analysis for wireless networks is complicated due to the presence of co-channel interference and the need to meet network coverage requirements. This paper provides the survey of energy evaluation in HetNet uplink transmission. Read More...

-Shashank Zadge ; Urja Tarwani; Vaibhavi Tembre; Nikita Wakchaure; Ms. Rajashree Karande
With the growth of cities, the waste produced also increases. Waste management is one of the primary problem that the world faces irrespective of the case of developed or developing country. The key issue in the waste management is that the garbage bin at public places gets overflowed well in advance before the commencement of the next cleaning process. Overflowed garbage bins are creating an obnoxious smell and making an unhygienic environment. And this is leading to the rapid growth of bacteria and viruses which are causing different types of diseases. Many of the world’s developing cities are still lacking in the area of waste management. The environment should be clean and hygienic for our better life leads. To overcome these situations efficient garbage collection systems are getting developed based on IoT. Various designs have already been proposed and have advantages as well as disadvantages. The main theme of the work is to develop a smart intelligent garbage alert system for a proper garbage management. The system proposes a smart alert system for garbage clearance by giving an alert signal to the municipal web server for instant cleaning of dustbin with proper verification based on level of garbage filling. The system framework uses ultrasonic sensor, infrared sensor for detecting the level of waste, Arduino UNO, microcontroller, RFID, GPS, GIS, LED, LCD as controlling boards and other hardware things. This system will allow the city authorities to better management of their resources in the collection of garbage and provide a platform that will allow for an efficient garbage collection system.
