Augmented Heat Transfer in Square Duct with 90° Arc of Circle and V Shape Rib
-Laxmikant Jadhav ; Prof. Richard Victor
In the advanced gas turbines of today, the turbine inlet temperature can be as high as 1500°C; however, this temperature exceeds the melting temperature of the metal airfoils. Therefore, it is imperative that the blades and vanes are cooled, so they can withstand these extreme temperatures. Cooling air around 650°C is extracted from the compressor and passes through the airfoils. With the hot gases and cooling air, the temperature of the blades can be lowered to approximately 1000°C, which is permissible for reliable operation of the engine. In order to avoid premature failure, designers must accurately predict the local heat transfer coefficients and local airfoil metal temperatures. By preventing local hot spots, the life of the turbine blades and vanes will increase. In the diameter present work, the effect of the rib angle orientation on the local heat transfer distribution and pressure drop in a square channel with two opposite in- line ribbed walls was investigated for Reynolds numbers from 45000 to 75000. The objective of the present work is to study the effect of rib height to the hydraulic ratio (e/Dh) on the local heat transfer distributions and flow friction in ribbed square channel with 90° arc of circle rib and V shape of circle ribs. Rib geometries, comprising three rib height-to-channel hydraulic diameters (blockage ratio) of 4.482, 6.75, and 9.018 as well as rib spacing (pitch to height ratio) is 10. A square channel, roughened with different blockage ratio ribs on two opposite walls in in-line manner and perpendicular to flow direction was tested. An experimental result shows that 90 degree arc of circle rib has maximum HTC as compared to V shape of circle rib with maximum pressure drop penalty It is observed that the heat transfer augmentations in the channel with 90° arc of circle attached ribs increase with increase in the rib height to hydraulic diameter ratio (e/Dh) but only at the cost of the pressure drop across the test section. Improvement of Power Quality by Simulation of Large Hybrid Wind Integrated Power Generation using STATCOM
-Vikramaditya ; Swatantra Singh Verma
Injection of the hybrid wind power into an electric power grid affects the power quality in power system. The influence of the wind turbine(WT) in the electrical power grid system concerning the power quality measurements are-the active power(P), reactive power(Q), variation of voltage sag & flicker, voltage dip, harmonics, distortion and electrical behavior of switching operation and greater flexibility to optimized for loss evolution criteria since convertor can be generated & absorb reactive power (Q). The power quality problem mainly due to installation of wind turbine (WT) with the electrical power grid. In this proposed scheme SVC (STATCOM) is coupled at a point of common connected with a battery energy storage system (BESS) to mitigation the power quality issues. The battery energy storage (BESS) is integrated to sustain the real power (P) source under changing hybrid wind power system. The STATCOM control scheme for the grid coupled hybrid wind energy generation system for power quality improvement is simulation using MATLAB SIMULATED in electrical power system block set. The effectiveness of the proposed scheme relives the main power supply source from the reactive power (Q) demand of the load and the Static var generator. The development of the power grid current transmission system incorporated power electronic based & other static controller to static to enhance controllability and increases power transfer capability. -N. Sasikala ; D. Sharathchandra; Y. Murali Krishna
Now a days the copy right protection is an important use of several image processing techniques. In order to protect our image, different image hiding techniques like steganography, cryptography are used in olden days. The watermarking technology used in the year 1826 besides of steganography and cryptography. Actually a watermarking technique involves an image hiding process. We proposed a new method of hiding information image into cover image in this paper. In our proposed method the cover image (original image) goes under bit plane slicing, the hidden image goes under a filter operation to detect the edges. Finally these two images are embedded and forms a new watermarked image. Our experimental results prove that the proposed watermarking method has low MSE & high PSNR values when compared with the other watermarking algorithms like DCT and DWT. Read More...

Image Interpolation with New Modified Eight Adjacent Regression for High Resolution Graphics
-Prashant Kushwaha ; Amit Chouksey
With bitmap graphics, as the size of an image is enlarged, the pixels that form the image become increasingly visible, making the image appear "soft" if pixels are averaged, or jagged if not. Image interpolation methods however, often suffer from high computational costs and unnatural texture interpolation. Image interpolation, which is based on an autoregressive model, has achieved significant improvements compared with the traditional algorithm with respect to image reconstruction, including a better peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and improved subjective visual quality of the reconstructed image. However, the time-consuming computation involved has become a bottleneck in those autoregressive algorithms. The main purpose of this work is to provide recursive algorithms for the computation of the Newton interpolation polynomial of a given two-variable function. Read More...

Comparative Study of T-beam Bridge Longitudinal Girder Design using IRC 112:2011 and IRC 21:2000
-Patel Jaymin Hasmukh Bhai ; Dr. Pankaj Singh
T-beam Bridge is composite concrete structure which is composed of slab panel, longitudinal girder and cross girder. Present study is mainly focuses design of longitudinal girder by IRC: 112-2011 and IRC: 21-2000. In India, till now girders are designed and constructed according to Indian road congress guidelines as per IRC: 21-2000 code in which working stress method is used. Recently Indian road congress has introduced another code IRC: 112-2011 for design of prestressed and RCC bridges using limit state method. In regards to this, present study has been performed to know how design of IRC-112 differs from IRC-21 and an attempt is made to study undefined parameters of IRC: 112-2011 such as span to depth (L/d) ratio. Present study is performed on design of longitudinal girder using "working stress method" using IRC: 21-2000 and limit state method using IRC: 112-2011 code specifications. It is observed that L/d ratio of 10 in working stress method and L/d ratio of 14 in limit state method is most preferable. Quantity of materials required in limit state method is compared with quantity of material required in working stress method and it is found that concrete can be saved up to 25 to 30% using limit state method. A Survey on Correlation Filters for Object Detection
-Disha Davis ; Nicy Johnson
Object detection is a sequence of segments comprises the objects of interest, which are taken as preprocessing and expansively applied in various vision tasks like face detection, face recognition, video object co-segmentation. Out of these, Correlation ï¬lters are the special classiï¬ers which are designed for accurate object detection. Normal correlation ï¬lters require scalar valued image features and only perform on objects with consistent appearance but newer ï¬lters work with feature spaces that establish some invariance to small deformations. However, most of existing approaches only utilizes the proposals to compute the location; the aim is to propose a fastest algorithm for making the object detection as an efficient task. This paper accentuates correlation techniques and feature extraction methods used by researchers for object detection. Read More...

Design and Analysis of 5 ton Crane
-Priti Dnyaneshwar Dhabarde
Cranes are having very wide application in material lifting and material handling requirements. Cranes are widely used in the heavy industries as well as heavy construction sites and for road side assistance. Many types of cranes are available, different mechanism have been used for building a crane. Most commonly used mechanism is a simple four bar mechanism. This project deals with the design and analysis of 5tonne capacity crane by using CAD and Analysis software. To determine the stress and displacement we will perform static analysis. This project is very much useful for designing a crane using four bar mechanism as per the customer requirement. This project involves the designing and analyzing of crawler telescopic crane for limited weight lifting capacity of 5 ton. This involved gathering of functional and structural requirements of crawler telescopic crane from the resources available, Design Calculations, CAD model generation, Finite element analysis. By performing Finite Element analysis with Linear static conditions with 5 ton Weight at extreme extended position, maximum displacement of 2.1 mm and maximum stress of 159 MPa obtained in Design of smaller boom. This maximum stress is observed in frame structure where structure material (AS3679 grade 350) has yield stress of 330 Mpa. As the displacement obtained in the assembly are very less, maximum stresses should be considered for the result comparison. It can be concluded that a linear static analysis of crawler crane is performed with the following boundary conditions. (Mother boom is constraint in all the directions at pin joint location and hydraulic connections and force due to 5 ton load is applied on smaller boom at hook location) are safe as maximum stresses obtained are well within the yield stress of crane material (ss 320) with factor of safety 2. In this paper we studied sequencing models for n jobs through 2 machines. Each of n jobs must be start first on machine A and then on machine B. Running times for each job are given. Also specified are arbitrary time slack which order that a job may not be started on machine B until some what a certain time has elapsed since starting the job on machine A. A rule is given for processing the sequence in which jobs are to be run on machines using the same sequence for both machines in order to minimize the time between the start of production of the first job on machine A and the completion of production of the last job on machine B. Optimization of Stirling Heat Pump by using Genetic Algorithm
-Bhagwan Singh Dangi ; Santosh Kansal
In this research, invariable performance analysis of irreversible Stirling heat pump cycle that includes internal as well as external irreversibility. The reservoirs are considered to be of finite heat capacities. These two irreversibilities are considered simultaneously in which external irreversibility is due to the finite temperature difference between external fluid and working fluids through the heat sink and heat source and internal irreversibility is due to entropy generation and regenerative heat loss. In the present study, the input power, heating load and coefficient of performance have been evaluated using finite time thermodynamics and the above three objective functions are simultaneously optimised using multi-objective genetic algorithm (MATLAB 2015a), considering the effect of various design variables. The design variables includes for optimisation are effectiveness of heat exchanger at cold side (εC), effectiveness of heat exchanger at hot side (εH), rate of heat capacitance in heat source/sink (C) , the temperature ratio (x) and cold side temperature (TC). -R. Priya Dharshini ; R. Preena; R. Priyanga; V. Sangeetha; N. Kumareshan
Today we see the garbage waste bins are overflowing and all garbage is split out from dust bins, which results in unhygienic condition, illness and bad smell for all people near that area. Hence, we are designing the system based on Lora for monitoring garbage from particular area to avoid pollution, unhygienic condition, bad smell, etc. The dust bin is interfaced with microcontroller based system having IR sensor for opening and closing of garbage. When garbage reaches the level of sensor, then there will be an indication by Lora that will be given to the microcontroller unit, and microcontroller sends signals to the garbage bin and it moves the bin according to the Arduino coding. Dust bin act as a robot and it moves to the programmed area based on the line path follower to dispose the waste. This will help us to keep the environment clean. This new technology helps the public to get the garbage clean without the involvement of human beings, also to know about the current status of facilities in their area. The main aim of this project is to reduce human resources and efforts along with the enhancement of a smart city vision. Read More...

In 21st century energy demand was increased by reason of development of industries, population, amount of vehicles and power production plants, etc. But availability of fuel is not satisfied. In other routes to solve the energy demand and control the pollution under using of alternative fuels. The usage of fossil fuel is causes to more pollution, it will emits more amount of greenhouse gases and change environmental conditions. The use of biodiesel is one of the major solution for this kind of problems. The biodiesel has a characteristics like high degradability, no toxicity, low emission of greenhouse gases, it can be used in conventional compression ignitions engine, which needs no modifications. As well, biodiesel can be used as heating oil and as fuel. The Karanja oil is readily available in India and it has more potential to use as alternative fuel in diesel engine. As, far it has been done by transesterification process of karanja oil. More study is needed to analysis the performance and emission characteristics of biodiesel, additive used biodiesel. Similarly, the properties like calorific value, flash point, viscosity and fire point also going to study. Biodiesel can make a major contribution in the future if it meets the few percent of petroleum and it can provide improved fuel properties lower emission of unburned hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide but higher level of oxides of nitrogen. -Amey Sutar ; Sanjay Sutar; Sathe Pranav Kishor; Bote Swarupanand Shivaji; Sambhapure Omkesh Prakash
Agriculture is the most important sector of the Indian economy. It is the most important source of employment for the majority of the work force in the country. Approximately 49 percent of the total labor force was engaged in agriculture in 2012. Among that highest percentage was in paddy sector. Rice is the major stable food of the country. Releasing of work force to sectors other than Agriculture is important to develop the country. To release the work force in paddy sector mechanization plays a big role. To feed growing population is a huge challenge. Importation of rice will lead to drain out the economy of the country. Mechanization of paddy sector will lead to higher productivity with releasing of work force to other sectors. The objective of this project is to design a paddy transplanting mechanism to transplant paddy seedlings by small scale farmers in the country. In world the usage of agriculture equipments are increasing. In the usage of agriculture equipments, India contributes only 10%. Due to the scarcity of manpower and more time taken for transplant to reduce this problem we have decided to do project related to agriculture. For more information about today’s agriculture equipments and methods we searched and studied some papers and also visited to agriculture equipments manufacturing companies. Read More...

Children Tracking and Monitoring System using IoT
-Susmitha. V ; Raja Sekaran. G; Sharmila Banu. M
Everything is digitalized in this present era. Nowadays, every person is connected with each other by many ways, where most popular communication is internet so it is internet which connects people. In the existing system, an android application was developed to aid parents to track their children in real time. To use that application, user need to send commitments to their contacts based on the privacy. The device can be used by parents to track their children in real time or for child safety. But the location settings in the mobile phone must be enabled to track the location of the user and the users must learn to use this application. The proposed solution takes the advantage of the location services provided by GSM. It allows the parents to get their child’s location on real time by SMS. In this project we proposed a device which is integrated with multiple devices that are programmed with all the required data which includes the behaviour of the human reactions like anger, anxiety, nervousness and fear. When these situations are faced by the victim, the various sensors generate the emergency signals which are to be transmitted to the numbers which is fed into the GSM. The Dijstra algorithm is proposed in GPS which is one of the best algorithms to find the shortest path. The proposed system effectively monitors the children presence within the expected zone. When the person crosses the monitoring zone through the IoT Monitoring system, GSM sends alert message to the numbers which are fed into the GSM. As a result, this device tracks and monitors the child in smarter way. Read More...

Analysis of Heat Enhancement of Plate Heat Exchanger Efficiency by Internal Thread
-Sumit Kumar ; Surjeet Singh Rajpoot
The heat exchangers are generally used to transfer heat from one medium to another medium. An experiment was conducted in Bhopal Sahakari Dugdh Sangh (BSDS) on Plate Heat Exchanger. A Plate Heat Exchangers are used to pasteurize milk in BSDS, in which the warm water is used to transfer heat towards milk by which milk is pasteurized. The temperature of pasteurization milk is set on 78°C in BSDS plant for milk properties, when the temperature of pasteurized milk become below 78°C the milk come in raw milk tank to again pasteurize. By which we got the working plate heat exchanger efficiency of BSDS is 75%. We enhance the working plate heat exchanger efficiency of BSDS by placing different internal thread (Pitch 1cm and 0.5cm) in inlet warm water pipe. We got the working efficiency of Plate Heat Exchanger in this internal threads are 81.01% and 77.11%. The experiments proposed for counter flow models of the fluids. After modification by internal thread in Plate Heat exchanger set up we got inner thread of 0.5cm pitch give more turbulence than inner thread of 1cm pitch. We compared these modified working efficiency to without modified working efficiency of plate heat exchanger which is used in BSDS. We got that the working efficiency of BSDS plant is increased by placing inner thread of 0.5cm pitch. Read More...

Navigation system basically is a system that aids the user to navigate or move through various places. Navigation systems may be completely embedded on a vehicle, or they may be installed elsewhere and communicate using radio or other form of signals with a vehicle, or they may use a combination of these methods. Also the use of mobile phones has become ubiquitous in today’s world. Integrating both these technologies is no more a new concept. The Global Positioning System (GPS) acts as a key factor to merge them together. It is a satellite-based radio-navigation system that provides geo-location and time information. The advancements in technology have enabled us to use the Augmented Reality concept in the field of navigation and thus make it more reliable and user friendly. Merging the real world information with the virtual objects to show directions to the user helps in creating a real time effect for the user while navigating.
