Role of In-Vessel Composting In Stabilizing the Organic Solid Waste
-P Sivaguru
This study was conducted to analyze the physico -chemical characteristics of organic matters separated from Municipal solid waste using a rotary drum reactor ( RDR ) process and static mechanically air blown reactor (ABR). The aeration method of the compost had great influence on the physico-chemical characteristics (temperature, moisture content, pH, organic content) of the compost. In the ABR the temperature was observed to be higher than the RDR which may be due to the daily rotation of the rotary drum as it dissipates the heat generated and interrupt the temperature rise. On analyzing results by ANOVA showed that decrease in the temperature varied significantly between the two reactor ( p<0.05 ), but in both the process the temperature did not attain the thermophilic phase as it was below 50°C. The temperature control methods can be implemented to attain the required thermopilic phase. The present study helps to prove that the pH is not a key factor in the deciding the stability of the compost as it is same in both the cases throughout the experiment. The fertilizing index for TOC was calculated for the MSW compost taking the relative importance of the parameter into consideration. ADR and RDR which showed 4.43 and 5 for TOC. The results indicated that ADR had more advantage over the RDR. After composting the material for duration of 20 days the end product need further curing, hence these methods can be used for preliminary stabilization of compost. Read More...

A Practical Approach for Malicious Activity Detection in MANET
-Nidhi Nigam
In this Paper, wireless networks, security has been proposed which becomes the prime factor of concern. The mobility of the nodes, in these so called Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETS), furthermore leads to a situation where it is very difficult to establish secure data transmission. Since the use of mobile equipments such as cellular phones or laptops is tremendously increasing and because of limited physical security, vulnerability to attacks, including an attack known as the wormhole attack, has become a challenging work. The wormhole attack is very powerful and preventing the attack has proven to be very complex. A strategic placement of the wormhole can result in a significant breakdown in communication across a wireless network. This addresses the aforementioned gap by providing a proper definition and categorization of wormhole attacks against MANET by introducing a new cooperative, clock synchronized technique based on Reference Broadcast System (RBS), and discuss its effect on network performance. To improve network scalability and throughput, the concept of thread for each and every node of MANET is proposed. So that our proposed scheme has two phases namely, route discovery phase of AODV (Ad hoc on demand distance vector protocol) for routing, Principle of Hop count for threshold setting are combined to detect and isolate wormhole attacks in ad hoc networks. That manages how the nodes are going to behave and which to route the packets in secured way. Read More...

A Low Stress Voltage Switch Transformerless Voltage Quadrupler DC Converter
-Kaleeswari O
In this paper, a novel transformer-less adjustable voltage quadrupler dc–dc converter with high-voltage transfer gain and reduced semiconductor voltage stress is proposed. The pro-posed topology utilizes input-parallel output-series configuration for providing a much higher voltage gain without adopting an ex-treme large duty cycle. The proposed converter cannot only achieve high step-up voltage gain with reduced component count but also reduce the voltage stress of both active switches and diodes. This will allow one to choose lower voltage rating MOSFETs and diodes to reduce both switching and conduction losses. In addition, due to the charge balance of the blocking capacitor, the converter fea-tures automatic uniform current sharing characteristic of the two interleaved phases for voltage boosting mode without adding extra circuitry or complex control methods. The operation principle and steady analysis as well as a comparison with other recent exist-ing high step-up topologies are presented. Finally, some simulation and experimental results are also presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed converter. Read More...

Effect of Vitrified Polish Waste in Concrete as Partial Replacement to Cement
-K. Srujan Kumar ; Y. Priyanka; V. Bhargavi
Structural components are considered to be superscript to other types of constructions because of their ability to resist against to the loads, stresses acting on to them, high flexural strength, durability, low maintenance cost when compared to normal constructions. But now a days due to scarcity of cementitious materials there was a great need of other alternate materials to adhere the situation and mostly in countries like India where construction is in great form. Being construction cost is high, as its primary ingredient is cement researchers are looking forward to replace cement by using various substantial materials. In this study, an attempt is made to replacement of cement with industrial produced materials like Vitrified polish waste (VPW), as optimum replacement for cement from past literature and making it as constant. Mix design is done for varying proportions of (5%,10%,15%, 20%) and specimens were casted and tested for mechanical properties. The maximum strength attained at the mix proportioning of 15%VPW when compared with control mix and design of cement concrete has done confining to IS codal provision. Read More...

CFD Analysis of Exhaust Manifold of Multi- Cylinder SI Engine
-P. Agash
In present century, spark ignition engines have become a non-separable part of the society, and are used in many sectors of energy. They act as backbone for transportation systems, but, as a bitter truth they behave like a major source of air pollution. There are basically three types of emissions, emerged from a SI engine; exhaust emissions, evaporative emission, and crankcase emission, and the major pollutants emerged from these engines are CO, CO2, SOX, NOX. Present project work aims at reducing emissions. It is a well-established fact that smooth combustion minimizes the emissions, and exhaust process contributes a lot in accomplishing smooth combustion process. In present project work, different designs of exhaust manifold for a multi cylinder spark ignition engine are optimized for reducing emissions, by evaluating back pressures and exhaust velocities. For this purpose four different designs, namely, short bend center exit, short bend side exit, long bend center exit with reducer, and long bend side exit with reducer are considered, and their performance is evaluated for different loading conditions. As a result performance scores of different models based on back pressure and exhaust velocity are evaluated, and on the basis of these scores, overall performance score is investigated. In next step, on the basis of overall performance score, ranking of different models is carried out. The results show the suitability of short bend centre exit model for the purpose, as it scores better rank in the analysis. The analysis is carried out on virtual models of manifolds. Models of manifolds are developed on CATIA v5 modelling software, and for the purpose of analysis ANSYS Workbench is used. Read More...

Simulating Analysis on Performances of Shell-Side in Trefoil-Hole and Quatrefoil Hole Baffle Heat Exchangers
-Chandrakishor Pal ; Dr. S K Nagpure
This paper provides a comprehensive heat transfer devices and their relative merits for wide variety of industrial applications. The effectiveness of a heat transfer enhancement technique is evaluated by the Thermal Performance Factor which is a ratio of the change in the heat transfer rate to change in friction factor. Various types of inserts are used in many heat transfer enhancement. Shell-side performances of trefoil perforated plate baffle heat exchanger with equilateral triangle tube layout and quatrefoil-hole baffle heat exchangers with square tube arrangement have been studied numerically. Through establishment of periodic model of heat exchangers with three different trefoil and quatrefoil opening heights of 2.0mm, 2.5mm and 3.0mm, the influence of opening height on the shell-side performances has been studied. The results indicate that the enlargement of opening height decreases pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient while the reduction of it causes dramatic pressure loss with a modest increase of heat transfer coefficient. The heat transfer coefficient per unit pressure drop of trefoil-hole baffle heat exchangers is higher than that of heat exchangers with quadrifoil-hole baffles. Read More...

Vulnerabilities of Remote Command Injection: IMEI Threats on Information Security on Modern Smartphones
-Uma Sankari.V ; G.Elayaroja
in cryptography, electromagnetic attacks are side-channel attacks preformed by measuring the electromagnetic radiation emitted from a device and performing signal analysis on it. Many papers dealing with the analysis of electromagnetic attacks against critical electronic devices have been. In this paper, we exploit the principle of front-door coupling on smart phones headphone cables with specific electromagnetic waveforms. Front door coupling is the possible disturbance to an aircraft system as received by the antenna of the system and mainly in the frequency band used by the system. It is also the responsibility of the certification applicant to demonstrate that the installed system does not interfere with the other aircraft system. We present a smart use of intentional electromagnetic interference, resulting in finer impacts on an information system than a classical denial of service effect. As an outcome, we introduce a new silent remote voice command injection technique on modern smart phones to secure the information. Read More...

Behavior of Geogrid Reinforced Soil Walls with Geofoam inclusion
-Seema. L. Gawali ; Prof. L. G. Kalurkar
This document provides a concept based experimental analysis of the effect of placement position of geofoam on deformation behavior of geogrid reinforced soil walls. Different codal provisions for design of reinforced soil structures are also made using methods as working stress method and load resistance factor design method (BS 8006 (2010), FHWA (2000)). However the major concerns in performance of geogrid reinforced soil walls were found to be the excessive deformations in service life, which is mainly due to the lateral earth pressure force. Different attempts were made to reduce the lateral earth pressure behind reinforced zone with the help of EPS geofoam as a compressible inclusion. Majority of these attempts were restricted to material evaluation and dynamic horizontal load attenuation only. A very few of researchers have put forward their efforts to evaluate the influence of geofoam inclusion on performance of geogrid reinforced soil walls. Efforts made by author in this study was limited the evaluation of the geogrid reinforced soil walls for self weight loading and a single location of the geofoam i.e. exactly behind the reinforced zone. Studies, which showcase the utilization of geofoam within the reinforced mass, have not been reported yet. The present study demonstrates the small scale model tests on geogrid reinforced soil walls with and without geofoam inclusion. Behavior of geogrid reinforced soil walls subjected to a strip loading without geofoam, with geofoam inclusion behind reinforced zone and geofoam inclusion made at the center of the reinforced zone. A 0.023H wide strip loading was gradually applied with the help of Universal testing machine (UTM) at the center of the reinforced zone till the maximum load reaches to 32kN or a maximum settlement of 15mm whichever occurs earlier. A 0.083H thick, low density (8 kg/m3) geofoam was used in the present study as a compressible inclusion. Read More...

Improvisation on Forecasting Algorithm for Time Series Data with Removal of Outliers
-Pavan Kumar
A time series is a sequence of observations y1… yn. We usually think of the subscripts as representing evenly spaced time intervals (seconds, minutes, months, seasons, years, etc.). Time series analysis is a statistical technique that deals with time-series data, or trend analysis. Time series data means that data is in a series of time periods or intervals. Several algorithms are available to forecast from time-series data, such as Moving Average, Exponential smoothning, Double Exponential, Triple Exponential, ARMA, ARIMA and some of the other customized algorithms as well. Existing algorithms consider exact value of an attribute of input data for calculation. No such algorithm has the functionality which can identify outliers from input data (if exist) and can convert the outlier into the non-outlier with calculation (increment/ decrement) before performing the forecasting steps. My study concentrates on getting a solution/an algorithm which can identify outlier (if any) as per the parameter(s) (applied at initial level) and filter out these outliers from input data or can convert them into non-outlier value. Peltier Air Refrigeration System
-Kalpesh Shankar Jamsandekar ; Dattatray Natha Girhe
Generally thermo electric refrigeration is defined as any process of heat removal. More specially, peltier effect is defined as the branch of science that deals with process of reducing and maintaining the temperature of a space or material bellow or above the temperature of the surroundings. Thermoelectric coolers (TECs) are solid state heat pumps that utilize the peltier effect. During operation, DC current flows through the TEC Causing heat to be transferred from one side of the TEC to the other, creating a cold and hot side. A single-stage TEC can achieve temperature differences up to 20°C, or can transfer heat at a rate of 125 W. To achieve greater temperature differences (up to 58°C), select a multistage (cascaded) TEC. To increase the amount of heat transferred, the TECs modular design allow the use of multiple TECs mounted side-by-side. Read More...

Enrichment of Voltage Profile in Secondary Distribution System using DVR
-T Swathi ; S Prakash
The power quality issues affect customers directly or indirectly in terms of economic losses due to the equipment damage, process interruption, production loss, data loss, wastage of material etc. Different kinds of techniques have been utilized over the years in industry to compensate voltage unbalance along electric power distribution networks such as booster transformers, series capacitors, shunt reactors, and most recently Volt-VAR reactive power compensation, phase rearrangement, phase balancing between specific medium voltage feeder and the power distribution energy converter banks with a radial arrangement system. Hence, the simple, effective and cheapest device for voltage profile correction in distribution network compared to other custom power devices is the dynamic voltage restorer (DVR). A DVR is connected between the secondary distribution transformer and the customer load along a feeder with a radial arrangement. An innovative new design-model of the DVR has been proposed and developed using dq0 controller and the proportional integral (PI) controller method. Model simulations were carried out using MATLAB/Simulink in Sim Power System tool box. Read More...

Using Data Mining Hospital Recommender System
-Sakshi Kale ; Priyanka Bhor; Nikhil Dusane; Venkatesh Kowjalgi
Recommender systems help the users to get the useful information regarding their search. To overcome the disadvantages of content- based filtering and collaborative filtering, Hybrid filtering is one of the best suitable approaches. Hospital Recommendation Services have been gaining popularity these days. There are many applications and systems that are recommending hospitals based on the user’s requirements and to meet the patient satisfaction. These applications take the reviews of the patients and the users and based on these reviews, they recommend the hospitals. Also if a person is new to the location that he is currently residing, when the specialty is given as input by him, then these applications recommend the hospitals. But the problem is that everyone is not aware of the medical terms like specialties. For those people, “Health or hospital Service Recommendation System†comes handy. “Health Service Recommendation System†is an Android Application for finding hospitals within a specified range of distance and requirements provided by the client using the Naïve Bayes classification algorithm. Naïve Bayes algorithm classifies the specialty and thus helps in achieving the maximum accuracy compared to the other algorithms used. This application is helpful even for the people who are not aware of the specialties of the hospitals. This paper overcomes these issues by using Hybrid Filtering. This system fetches the information from the user and displays the nearby hospitals related to it. In this paper, the location of the user and the requirement of which type of hospital should be mentioned by the user itself. Among the detected hospitals it suggests the hospitals to users based on the user ratings. Based on the Hybrid filtering approach recommend the hospitals to the account holders. Depends on the specialty of the Hospital and user preference, the Similarity is calculated using the cosine similarity concept. In Hybrid filtering, we consider the constraint which was given by the user. The main objective of this paper is to recommend the best hospitals to the users which will be helpful in emergency situations methods. Read More...

A Novel Technique for Relevant Data Retrieval from a Set of Encrypted Documents
-Giri S M
Data owners can outsource their data in cloud servers rather than purchasing their own storage devices. The Amount of trust provided by the third party cloud server will threaten security of our data as anyone who has access to the data server can view our sensitive information. Solution is to encrypt the data before outsourcing it. Searching on encrypted domain is a prominent research problem. Usually a search request will prompt the server to upload the entire file to the user and user has to decrypt the whole data at its local host. This is not an efficient solution for remote storage as it needs decrypting the entire data for retrieving a small part from it. Searchable encryption algorithms can be used to search on the cipher text. When a search request arrives then the cloud server attempts to search on the encrypted domain making a simpler solution. This paper introduces a new technique to search on the encrypted domain. Read More...

-Anjali Ramani ; Apurv Verma
As a complex mathematical problem in water resources engineering and planning, water level variations in a lake represent the balance of water components for instance straight rainfall or evaporation at a lake’s surface, groundwater exchange, and incoming or outgoing river flows. Lake water elevation changes seasonally example that, high in the soaked summer and low in the dried-out winter with sharp falling/ rising limbs through typhoon events, but not in a straightforward periodic mode except for the seiche oscillation that occurs mostly in huge lakes. Effectual forecasting tools play a significant role in the studies of lakes level measures. In this paper we have compared different literature. Read More...

Data Transmission in a Cluster based Delay Tolerant Mobile Networks using UTDG and RER Protocol
-Betty Mary Jacob ; Nisha Mohan P M
In DTMN the nodes with similar mobility pattern are grouped into a cluster. The cluster can helps to reduce the network overload because it can interchange the resources among the nodes in the cluster. During data transmission, the delay tolerant network can lose connectivity and take a long time for data transmission. This can be reduced by using UTDG protocol and RER protocol. UTDG protocol has three phases – tree formation, data collection and data transmission, and updating phase. UTDG protocol constructs a tree in each cluster. It reduces transmission overhead and lowers the delay in data delivery. A reliable energy-aware routing protocol increases the node life time by increasing the energy level of the node. A hop by hop transmission mechanism is used to guard the reliability of message transmission. Read More...

A Comparative Study on High Rise Building for various Geometrical Shapes Subjected to Wind Load of RCC & Composite Structure using ETABS
-Hatim Saleem
In today’s modern construction of high rise buildings, lateral loads such as wind load is of major concern. However Steel – Concrete Composite construction has gained wide acceptance worldwide as an alternative to pure steel or pure concrete construction. The review shows that, the composite structures are best suited for high rise buildings compared to that of RCC structures. They offer high stiffness, stability and strength which can be utilized to resist large lateral wind loads and simultaneously support the gravity loading of the structure. In this project, a comparative study has been carried using ETABS 15 software on high rise building for various geometrical shapes subjected to wind load for both RCC and Composite structure. The three geometrical shape of Rectangular, Triangular and a Plus shape are taken with each of similar base plan and same floor to floor height. All the frames are analyzed firstly using RCC frame and then Steel – Concrete Composite frame. The building frame is comprised of G+15 storey. By the analysis done using ETABS 15 software the values such as maximum storey displacement, maximum storey shear and maximum storey moment for both Reinforced Concrete and Steel – Concrete Composite structure and comparison has been done for all three geometrical shapes to compare which has more stability and resistance against wind load among all the cases considered. Copper Graphene Transmission Cable
-I. Abinaya ; Pavithra P; Vignesh K; H. Vidhya; M. Karthik
The copper cables used has many drawbacks and losses like i^2 r losses and the tensile strength etc. In order to reduce these losses the evolution of Cugraphene composite has evolved. This new power lines will contain the addition of graphene(less in ratio proportion) than that of copper (base metal) in the commercial power transmission cables has made a new flourished trend. Graphene is 200 times stronger than steel and 500 times stronger than copper, and it has much tensile strength with copper. Though graphene transfers electrons at much faster rate hence it replaces the conventional cables with improved efficiency. The current density of graphene is 10^6 times greater than copper and its intrinsic mobility is 1000 times more conductive than silicon. Therefore it conducts electricity much better than copper. The thermal conductivity is 2000 Watts per meter per kelvin which is 5 times higher than copper, so it conducts heat better than any other known material. The electrons in the valence shell are free to move, so it conducts electricity much faster than copper, therefore the electrical conductivity is also high. Using CVD [Chemical Vapor Deposition], the Cu GRAF is kept between 800 and 900 degree Celsius. Then they are tested it in saline water and witnessed to corrosion almost that with the existing commercial copper. Read More...

A Review of Classification Techniques in Machine Learning
-Jyoti Pipariya
The data set used by machine learning algorithms, every instance, is represented using the same set of features. These features may be binary, continuous, and categorical. On the basis of features, it may be classified as supervised and unsupervised learning. If instances are given with known labels which correspond to the correct outputs then the learning is said to be supervised. Whereas unsupervised learning corresponds to the instances which are unlabeled. A special kind of learning called reinforced learning is in which the training information that is provided to the learning system by the external environment is in the form of scalar reinforcement signal. This signal constitutes a measure on the system operation. Read More...

10 Unsolved Problems in Physics
-Ms. Ranjana V Bramhane ; Mrs. Vidya T Patil
In early 1900s, the British physicist Lord Kelvin declared: “There is not anything new to discover in physics. All remains is to advance accurately measure its quantities.†In the same year quantum physics was born and three decades later it, and Einstein’s theory of relativity, had completely revolutionized and transformed physics. These days, hardly someone would dare to say that our knowledge of the universe, and everything in it, is almost complete. On the other hand, every new discovery appears to open a Pandora’s Box of larger and deeper issues. I have gathered some of today’s biggest unsolved problems in physics, and tried to list them in this research paper. Read More...

Cryptocurrency in India - Indicoin
-Dhruv Belai ; Saloni Khatu; Utsav Vyas
Indicoin is designed to overcome the issues that Bitcoins have faced all over the globe. Many across India do not know about Bitcoins or cryptocurrency at all. Our take is to make Indocoin widespread across India in the early stages and globally in the later stages. We focus to make it more flexible wherein there are special ATM cryptocurrency machines for Indicoin and other companies offering similar service. We aim to make it as localized as possible with every citizen of India having access to Indicoin. We will also allow mining possible on mobile phones which will allow users to earn and make greater blockchains and increase the value of Indicoins. Money conversion will be made simpler in order to covert Indicoins into currency which is the Indian Rupees. We will be focusing on creation of an application which will help people across the country to learn more about Indicoin, the conversion rates and how to mine them on their own mobile phones with just one click. The concept is very similar to Bitcoins but we focus on mobility and ease of use. With one click one can download the Application on their desktops, tablets, mobile phones and laptops too. And another click would lead to the mining procedure which would require the devices to be idle and mining would take up significant load on the devices which will result in the device not being usable for the amount of time mining takes place. Indicoin will be available to every citizen of India and signing up would only require Personal Details and an ID proof with bank account details included in order to convert Indicoins into currency.
