Role of V2G at Smart Grid Technology
-Pooja Gupta ; Sanjeev Jarariya; Sandhya
A variety of renewable energy resources are penetrating more into the power grid, in accordance with the efforts to reduce CO2 emission and reduce the dependence on fossil fuels for energy generation. Almost more than 60% of the world’s oil productions are consumed by vehicles on roads. Gas driven internal combustion engines are low efficiency systems that emit several harmful gases and establish an unsustainable and inefficient transportation system. In a study, it is reported that vehicles are responsible for 30% of the world total energy consumptions and 27% of total greenhouse gas emissions. Hence, to eliminate emissions originated from urban life, grid-connected vehicles have been recognized as one of the effective options. In fact, electric vehicles (EVs) reduce CO2 and NOx emissions and increase energy efficiency through using distributed generations (DGs) in the transportation sector. In this paper two case are considered ,first without utility grid connected V2G system and secondly with utility grid connected and with & without V2G what will be the impact of frequency on grid and along with that we have observed the results with different kinds of energy vehicles i.e. their performance and reliability and it is observed that, with V2G the frequency of the grid improved whenever the load demands the supply, also the use of different charging system how impacts the performance of EV. Hence stability of V2G system by using utility grid gets improved which makes it more efficient than other renewable sources of energy. Read More...

Concrete Mix Theories (Comparative Study between IS Code and ACI Code)
-Mohammad Asif Bhat ; Mr. Ajay Singh Thakur
With the development of concrete technology and through the growing number of tall building structures, the use of higher strength concrete is becoming more popular. High strength concrete has grown quite attractive to civil engineers and substantial scientists as it displays advanced workability, superior mechanical properties and improved durability. High strength concrete (HSC) has been progressively used in the structures like tall buildings, flyovers, bridges and offshore structures. In (India) as well in our state (J&K) the use of HSC is gaining importance, for example M45 grade of concrete has been utilized in Jahangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover. Now the problem lies in the mix design of concrete by nearby obtainable materials. As mix design is a method of stipulating the combination of constituents mandatory to come across expected properties of fresh and hardened concrete. Concrete mix design is a well-established exercise round the globe. Wholly advanced countries, in addition to numerous emergent countries, have established their concrete mix design method an acute assessment of mix design approaches have been approved out for M40 grade of concrete using American Concrete Institute (ACI) and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) methods to find the resemblances and alterations between the two design theories. The scope of our study is to compare ACI and IS recommended mix design guidelines for High Strength Concrete (M40). The purposes of the study is to develop concrete of grade M40 using native materials under local environmental conditions using IS and ACI methods. Read More...

A Work Paper on - Analysis of Centralized Control in Micro-Grid
-Yogita Paradkar ; Prof. Madhu Upadhyay; Prof. Sachindra Verma; Prof. Kamlesh Saha
Power electronics provide the control and flexibility required by the MG concept. A properly designed power electronics and controllers insure that the MG can meet the needs of its customers as well as the utilities. Implementing an MG can be as simple as installing a small electricity generator to provide backup power at an electricity consumer’s site, or it can be a more complex system that is highly integrated with the electricity grid that consists of electricity generation, energy storage, and power management systems. They comprise a portfolio of technologies, both on supply side and demand-side that can be located at or near the location where the energy is used. MG devices provide opportunities for greater local control of electricity delivery and consumption. They also enable a more efficient use of waste heat in combined heat and power (CHP) applications, which boosts efficiency and lowers emissions. The CHP systems provide electricity, hot water, heat for industrial processes, space heating and cooling, refrigeration, and humidity control to improve indoor air quality and comfort. Read More...

-Yogita Paradkar ; Prof. Madhu Upadhyay; Prof. Sachindra Verma; Prof. Kamlesh Saha
In the context of Electrical Engineerings, the hierarchical control scheme includes three control levels: primary, secondary, and tertiary. These control levels differ in their (i) speed of response and the time frame in which they operate and (ii) infrastructure requirements, e.g., need for communication. This control hierarchy can also be implemented for the micro grid control. The DER units with limited power generation capacity cannot practically assist a strong utility network in its voltage and/or frequency regulation. In the grid connected mode, the host utility may not permit regulation or control of the PCC voltage by the DER units to avoid interaction with the same functionality performed by the grid. Analysis of Plates for Building Construction with Different Shapes by Classical Plate Theory and Navier’s Theory
-Rajesh Kumar Jha ; Prof. Thakur Ramji Ram; Prof. Kamlesh Saha
The analysis of isotropic rectangular and square plates using Classical Plate Theory and Navier’s Theory. In case of rectangular plates variation is done for length width ratio and thickness. And in case of square plate variation is done for thickness. The symmetric bending of Rectangular and Square plate is considered in the present study. Plates are analyzed for uniformly distributed load and concentrated point load in the present study. In this research work, the effect of varying thickness of the plate on its deflection and bending stress is studied. So, the key point of research work is thickness variation of plate. Once deflection is obtained by using Classical Plate Theory, bending moments and bending stresses are easily calculated by usual relations. This study discusses the elastic equilibrium problems of rectangular and square thin plates of varying thickness and simply supported on all four sides by linear and nonlinear theory. Using the Classical and Navier’s method to seek an approach to the problem, and illustrates the solution with two examples. In contusion, mention is made of scope of application and the convergences of the solution. In this method, the deflection was split into x and y components of deflection. It was assumed that the deflection of the rectangular plate is the product of these two components. With this assumption, total potential energy functional was derived from principles of theory of elasticity. Read More...

A Quantitative Comparison of the Cardiac Ventricular Single Cell Models
-Durga Choudhary ; Dr. Akhil Ranjan Garg
Cardiac cell modelling provides a logical framework for integrating and understanding the results of experimental study of cardiac cellular physiology. Many computational models of cardiac ventricular cell have been developed to understand the work, out of these, three already existing models, namely Beeler-Reuter model, Luo-Rudy phase-I model and Luo-Rudy phase-II model is analyzed and their comparative study has been performed. These models are compared on the basis of action potential characteristics; peak overshoot potential, resting membrane potential, amplitude, notch potential, plateau potential, action potential duration and diastolic interval, at cycle length of 1000msec. These models are also analyzed one by one for action potential, transmembrane currents and calcium transients at different cycle lengths of 1000msec, 750msec, 500msec and 400msec. Our study reveals, when cycle length is decreased, wave shape of the action potential, all transmembrane currents (except INa) and intracellular calcium concentration becomes narrower for all the models. In LR-II model potassium time dependent current IK is approximately doubled as compared with the other two models, enhancing its ability to repolarize the membrane, so APD is smaller as compared with the other two models. Parameter Sensitivity Analysis of Cardiac Purkinje Fiber Single Cell Model Using Partial Least Square Regression
-Durga Choudhary ; Dr. Akhil Ranjan Garg
In traditional method of parameter sensitivity analysis only one variable can be varied, and then impact on the output is observed, but the correlation between input variables and its effect on output was not observed. To overcome this problem the new technique was developed by Wold et al. In this technique we can analyze or predict a set of dependent variables from a set of independent variables (predictors). This prediction is done by a set of orthogonal factors (latent variables) obtained from a set of predictors and these latent variables have better predictive power. It combines the features of PCA and multiple linear regression. The PLS regression technique is used to determine the strength of the impact of multiple independent variables on a dependent variable using regression coefficient matrix which is a reflection of parameter sensitivities of input parameters. In this work we have done parameter sensitivity analysis of the already existing cardiac single cell Purkinje fiber (Noble) model. Read More...

-Poonam Patil ; Smita Bhalerao; Pallavi Late; Laxmi Pawar; Nitin Dhamale
Now a day it is seen that there are number of vehicle and accident increasing day by day. Many people get injured and some of them even die due to unavailability of emergency facilities. The emergency responders take much long time to reach the spot which some time fail to save the lives. So to reduce this scenario there is need to decrease the time between the accidents occurred and the emergency facility provided to them. Mostly, it is found that road accident happening are more frequent at certain specific locations i.e. black spot. The analysis of these black spot can help in identifying certain road accident factor that make a road accident to occur frequently in that locations. In this project we apply statistics analysis and Eclat algorithm on the Fatal Accident dataset as an attempt to address this problem. Association rule mining is one of the popular data mining techniques that identify the causes of road accident. In this project, we first applied Eclat algorithm to group the accident locations into A level, B level, C level accident location. Eclat algorithm takes accident level count as a factor to cluster the locations. Then we will use association rule mining to identify these locations. The rules show different factors associated with road accidents at different locations. According to this android phone which will detect the accidental spot and alert to hospital system and police station with alert message along with the link of map using GPS which will address the exact place of accident. Smart Cleanliness Reporting System based on Machine Learning
-Shakti Bangare
Swachh Bharat Mission is a one step towards keeping our village and cities clean and make people aware to maintain it. A lot of workforce is employed and working under the Swachh Bharat Mission but maintaining cleanliness is still a big issue. Cleanliness is done by various ground level workers and supervisors submit cleanliness report to their seniors and senior supervisors submit their reports to their seniors. This is a long hierarchy to see the cleanliness report by the responsible persons at higher hierarchy and it has a lot of mismatch with the ground level cleanliness. So supervising cleanliness is a big problem and cleanliness at ground level is not transparent to the responsible authorities. In proposed solution cameras will be installed all over the places where supervising is required. We will prepare a dataset which will show the dirtiness and cleanliness at different level for the specified places. To report the cleanliness our software will capture a picture everyday at specified time and it will compare with the designed software and it will produce a transparent and accurate report of cleanliness of the specified places to the responsible authorities. Panels can be grouped to form large photovoltaic arrays the development of a method for the mathematical modeling of photovoltaic arrays Large arrays composed of several panels may be modeled in the same way, provided that the equivalent parameters (short-circuit current, open-circuit voltage) are properly inserted in the modeling process. As a result, the equivalent parameters (resistances, currents, etc) of the association are obtained. Generally experimental data are available only for commercial low-power modules and this is the reason why this paper has chosen to deal with small arrays. The term array has been used throughout this paper to mean small commercial photovoltaic modules or panels. The MATLAB model shows how to model and simulate large arrays composed of several series or parallel module and in this work we simulate solar Photovoltaic array with connected with &without LC filter. In future there is a need to develop a model that can perform very accurate. System-wide simulations involving all the individual subsystems that constitute a photovoltaic system. We use neural network models can be built based on a portion of measurements and validated using a different subset of measurements. New maximum power point tracking algorithms can be developed and tested on this simulation test bed. Other renewable energy systems such as wind energy maybe modeled and a complete system with photovoltaic and wind energy may be developed and monitored. Read More...

Bioenergy from Filter Cake in Indian Sugar Industry
-Narendra Mohan ; Sanjay Awasthi
The most important environmental challenge faced by the world is the waste management which is generated from various agro processing industries and sugar industry is no exception. Thus emphasis is being given on minimization of waste and on increasing revenue generation through utilization of by-products in an innovative manner. With the depleting natural resources, increasing demand for green and clean energy in place of conventional system using from fossil fuel, there is indeed a need to explore alternatives that maintain the ecosystem balance and also the requirements of the society without affecting the natural resources. One such rational approach towards economic and environmental sustainability is adoption of bio-energy systems with a vision to save fossil energy. Converting a conventional sugar mill into a bio-energy process plant would contribute to fossil energy savings via renewable electricity, bio-gas/bio-CNG and ethanol substituting for fossil electricity and gasoline, respectively. One of the advantages of using bio-energy system is their low greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared to fossil-energy ones. The present work examines the possibilities of utilizing filter cake from sugar factories for production of bio-gas, compressed bio-gas/bio-CNG, thereby addressing the environmental issues and successful transformation for value addition. PV Based Dynamic Statcom for Power Quality Improvement
-Ashwini Sanjay Ranbhare ; Rutuja Sunil Ekate; Sanjivani Sundar Ugalmugale
Reactive power compensation is an important issue in the control of electric power system. Reactive power from the source increases the transmission losses and reduces the power transmission capability of the transmission lines. Moreover, reactive power should not be transmitted through the transmission line to a longer distance. Hence, Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) devices such as static compensator (STATCOM), unified power flow controller (UPFC) and static volt–ampere compensator (SVC) are used to alleviate these problems. In this paper, single phase STATCOM using hysteresis band current control is presented as the final year project. The detail MATLAB simulation study has been done, with addition to that, a hardware design to realize the system has been proposed, simulated, fabricated and tested in the lab. The MATLAB simulation model uses capacitor as DC source and PI controller to maintain its voltage. But, in order to reduce the complexity because of technical and time constraint, the hardware is designed with DC battery source eliminating the PI controller. The output gives the positive results. Analysis of Dissimilar Metal Welding of 1020 Mild Steel and 304 Stainless Steel
-Prasath. P ; R.PRABU
Joining of dissimilar metals has found its use extensively in power generation, electronic, nuclear reactors, petrochemical and chemical industries mainly to get tailor-made properties in a component and reduction in weight. However efficient welding of dissimilar metals has posed a major challenge due to difference in thermo- mechanical and chemical properties of the materials to be joined under a common welding condition. This causes a steep gradient of the thermo-mechanical properties along the weld. A variety of problems come up in dissimilar welding like cracking, large weld residual stresses, migration of atoms during welding causing stress concentration on one side of the weld, compressive and tensile thermal stresses, stress corrosion cracking, etc. Weld residual stress and thermal stress have been analysed for dissimilar metal welding of 304 stainless steel to 1020 mild steel taking 302 stainless steel as the filler metal. Similarly taking strain developed as an index the susceptibility of the welded joint to stress corrosion cracking have been studied. It is found that when the filler metal is replaced by Inconel 625 significant improvement is obtained in the welded joint in terms of reduction in stress developed and stress corrosion cracking. Also the problem of carbon migration is eliminated by the use of Inconel 625 as a weld filler metal due to the resistance of nickel-based alloys to any carbon diffusion through them. Read More...

Review on Design and Analysis of Connecting Rod using Different Materials
-Prachi B Chinchghare ; Prof. K I Ahmad
A connecting rod, also called a con rod, is the part of a piston engine which connects the piston to the crankshaft. Together with the crank, the connecting rod converts the reciprocating motion of the piston into the rotation of the crankshaft. The connecting rod is required to transmit the compressive and tensile forces from the piston, and rotate at both ends .The predecessor to the connecting rod is a mechanic linkage used by water mills to convert rotating motion of the water wheel into reciprocating motion .The most common usage of connecting rods is in internal combustion engines and steam engines. Use of composite material would help to reduce weight and improve fuel consumption without sacrificing the safety of the vehicle. In this current work, connecting rod has been designed by using computer aided design (CAD) software CATIA and was analysed using a finite element analysis (FEA) software ANSYS to understand the exact behaviour of the connecting rod under different material properties. Feasibility Study for Construction of Common Utility Tunnel on Anand Vidyanagar Road- A Pilot Study
-Prerak Kachhiya Patel ; Sonali Padariya
This study approaches with the implementation of feasible construction of common tunnel utility. Many diversions are made while reconstructing the road which also causes traffic congestion. Urban utilities are overcrowding underground space. Therefore, future sustainable underground strategies will consist of the competency to reduce the utilization of traditional trenching. During the last century, there was an incrementing interest in utility tunnels for urban areas as a quandary-solving technique to evade congestion of the street subsurface. Utility tunnels or utilidors are joint-use underground facilities that may contain multiple utilities such as water, sewerage, gas, electrical power, telephone, and central heating in sundry combined or in some cases en masse. The key advantage of utility tunnel is the substantially lower environmental impact when compared with trenching alternatives. Their construction presents no incipient quandaries of an engineering nature. However, implementing these subsurface tunnels is retarded most by first-cost, compatibility, and liability quandaries. These underground facilities are highly complex and arduous to manage because of synergistic effects. Utility tunnels, as a major capital investment in urban development, should be considered in the broad context of the urban orchestrating strategy. This research work has fixated on utility tunnel feasibility and its practical application in urban areas. Many difficulties are faced while reconstructing the roads. As it is not economical in future to always dismantle the damaged road and reconstruct it. While dismantling the road and reconstructing it causes problem like destroying of telephone lines, drainage lines, and water supply lines. With this thought in mind, we are undertaking the project of designing a utility tunnel for the stretch Anand-Vidhyanagr road. Read More...
