-N Kiran Kumar ; T Venkatachalam; T S Tarannum; L Pushpa; Pathan Riyaz
The aim of our work is to design, estimate and to calculate the cost of a G+1 3-BHK Villa according to Indian Standard codes. The design of a building can be done manually or with the help of Software. We have selected partial manual and partial software because complete design of manual consumes a lot of time, effort and can contain mistakes whereas, by using partial methods we can save time and obtain results without errors. Generally people go up with software to attain approximate values to avoid manual mistakes. Now a days there are several softwares are available in market for analysis and design of Civil Engineering structures‟ like ETABS, STAAD Pro and STRUDS etc., At present work we used software named “STAAD PRO‟ for partial software design. The major use of this software is for the final cross check of analysed results. Estimating is the technique of calculating/computing the various quantities and the expected expenditure to be incurred on a particular work/ project. For all engineering works it is required to know beforehand the probable cost of construction known as the estimated cost. Necessary for preparing an estimate are drawings like plan, elevation and sections of important points, detailed specifications about workmanship& properties of materials, Standard schedule of rates of the current year. Estimate is required to invite the tenders and Quotations and to arrange contract, also required to control the expenditure during the execution of work. Estimate decides whether the proposed plan matches the funds available or not. In this project we estimate the quantities required for the construction of the individual villa and later calculate the cost by preparing the abstract of cost. Read More...

-Sai Jadhav ; Saunil Patel; Mayur Patel; Dhirendra Rana
An electrical substation is an important part for the distribution of electric power. Due to non-linear behavior of electric power the magnitude of voltage and current keeps on changing. The change in the magnitudes causes different faults such as over current, over voltage, under current, under voltage. This faults can causes system unbalancing and damage the protective equipment. To overcome this problem various techniques are used up till now. In this project the PLC and HMI are used in the substation for the purpose of protection against the different faults. The PLC will work as a relay and will compare the values of voltage and current with the preset value and issue the signal to trip coil of contactor. The faults will be analyzed, corrected and the display of magnitudes of voltages, currents and fault acknowledgement will be done using HMI. The methodology used for fault detection and correction is distance protection. The monitoring of the single line diagram can be done with the help of HMI. In this paper, design of the mechanical system of the regenerative braking have been presented. The mechanism has been proposed to store brake energy in a spiral spring and release it back to the vehicle transmission. Storing the excess mechanical or electrical energy to use it at high demand time has great importance for applications at every scale because of irregularities of demand and supply. Energy storage in elastic deformations in the mechanical domain offers an alternative to the electrical, electrochemical, chemical, and thermal energy storage approaches studied in the recent years. This concept of low-cost Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) can store energy that is lost during braking in a spiral spring and release it smoothly to the vehicle whenever required. The paper presents the simple and lucid design of the mechanism that uses the combinations of belt and pulley. A sample calculation on amount of energy to be stored has been performed to find out the spring parameters so that the calculation can be replicated and the system can be customized for each automobile. -Birendra Sahu ; Likesh Kumar Sahu; Ajay Singh Paikra; Dilbag Singh Mondloe
Phase change materials (PCMs) are high thermal energy storing materials. Adding PCMs into building materials is reported to give high thermal mass which gives higher energy efficiency. Researches show that effective thermal conductivity of concrete reduces with increasing PCM content in concrete. Energy efficiency and heat capacity of PCM-concrete are reported to be higher than plain concrete. In this paper thermal properties of PCM-concrete product are reviewed along with some mechanical properties. Incorporating PCM into concrete is found to lower the peak temperature and retards the time of occurrence of this peak temperature. PCM absorbs high heat which reduces cooling as well as heating load in building which in turn reduces the risk of thermal cracking. This review paper assembles thermal properties of PCM-concrete with mechanical properties to understand the complete behavior of concrete when PCMs are employed. Read More...

The renewable energy sources such as hydro, solar and wind has been rapidly growing over the last few decades due to the increasing environmental issues and problem fossil fuels. Among the renewable energy sources, hydropower generation is one of the primary sources. Hydropower turbines are in two types as impulse and reaction where Kaplan turbine is a reaction type which was invented in 1913. Kaplan Turbines are often installed in large rivers. It is most suitable for large flow and low head situations. The head experienced from the Kaplan Turbine can range anywhere from 1.5 meters to over 50 meters. The Kaplan turbine operates most efficiently between heads of 1.5 meters and 15 meters. Over 15 meters, the efficiency of the turbine will start to decrease. Kaplan turbine is vertically oriented, axial flow turbine. We work on this Kaplan Turbine, this is design for 1.5m head. Design of this project is done on CATIA Software. Generally, all part of this turbine made of stainless steel because most of the parts will be in continuous contact with water and they have to be corrosion resistance. Implementation of Real-Time Driver Drowsiness Detection
-Dhairya Upadhyay ; Sanya Sinha; Surabhi Shimpi; Archana Deshpande
Drowsiness is observed to be a major contributor for road accidents, around 100,000 accidents per year.[1][2] Drowsiness is a silent killer as many are unaware of the risk entailing drowsiness unlike drunk driving as no system exist to measure drowsiness. Driver failing to concentrate on the road leads to a lesser reaction time and impaired steering behaviour. This paper proposes a low cost, ideal system to detect drowsiness unobtrusively and avoid accidents pertaining to the cause by taking preventive measures. Two primary inputs proposed in this work to accurately quantify the drowsiness are Camera Vision (CV) and Pulse rate sensor (PRS). CV quantifies the magnitude of eyelid closure and PRS obtained signal is used to detect pulse associated with the state of drowsiness. The proposed system uses Support Vector Machine (SVM) to classify the two states for drivers i.e. Drowsy State and Non-Drowsy State. When the driver exhibits alarming levels of drowsiness preventive measures are taken to avoid accident. Read More...

As we all know that the increasing digitization has lead to do all the things by computers. From washing clothes to writing papers in all things we need the help of computers. In fluid mechanics for small applications is easy but for bigger applications like design of car, plane etc. The conventional numerical methods become to lengthy. Hence a new branch is introduced which helps us to slove this fluid mechanics equations to easily. This branch is known as computational fluid dynamics. In CFD basically computers are used to perform the calculations required to simulate the free-stream flow of the fluid, and the interaction of the fluid (liquids and gases) with surfaces defined by boundary conditions. Thus, we can just put the values of boundary conditions and get all the related results in this method. The scope in the subject is very huge. Experimentation of Aileron and Flap of Airplane Wing Span at Subsonic Speed
-Shreyas Navin Bhandari ; Swapnil Wadkar
Research on Aileron and Flaps and all the parts of the wing span is crucial as the need for fuel consumption is increasing in modern era. Reduction of gas emissions (CO2, NOx), noise and fuel consumption are becoming fundamental design criteria for future aircraft, especially with the high growth rate of air travel which is estimated to double in the coming 20 years. Many airplane accidents have occurred in past years due to improper opening of flaps and aileron during the take-off, landing & rolling. This experiment will be carried out to determine the pressure variations before air striking wing span & after the air strike when the angle of attack on aileron & flap is changed respectively. This will help us to understand the force on the wing when there change in angle of attack of aileron & flaps of wing span. All possible angle of attacks on the parts of wing span will be analyzed. The Reynolds number regime currently studied corresponds to low Reynolds number, laminar and nominally two-dimensional wake. The wing span used for experiment is L=762 mm, C=150 mm with NACA 0012 airfoil type. To control the Cd & Cl on the wing will be the major goal of this experiment. Results are presented for various X/C, Cd, Cl with different angle of attack. Read More...

Effect of Foundry Waste on Expansive Soil (Black Cotton Soil)
-R. Y. Kale ; Ruchi Wawage; Gauri Kale
Expansive soil possesses peculiar properties such as swelling and shrinkage. In monsoon, these soils absorb water and swell, whereas in summer they shrink due to evaporation of water. Due to such behavior of soil it is inappropriate to rely on the strength characteristics of these soils. In order to improve the soil characteristics, different stabilizing materials are used in varying percentages, so that they can match the specifications of the construction industry. Generally, various waste byproducts of certain industries are required to be used as stabilizers in order to achieve the goal of their disposal as well as its utilization to improve the properties of the soil. One such waste, called as the Foundry Waste was used to study the effect of such stabilization on the black cotton soil which is an expansive soil. This study is an attempt to analyze the effect of Foundry waste on Expansive soils, for improvement in compressive strength and swelling-shrinkage characteristics and increase its suitability for effective use in construction. The swelling and shrinkage of a soil layer of expansive soil results into failure in the form of settlement and cracking. Use of foundry waste to stabilize soil is an attempt to establish how the waste material with no significant application, can be used in construction industry and replace their chemically manufactured counterparts. The proportion for addition of foundry dust was taken as 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% for optimum utilization of waste material and to understand the behavior of Expansive Soil blended with it by performing various tests. Maintenance Strategy Selection for Condenser Subjected To Fouling
-Ankit Kayasth ; Dr. Alok Kumar
Due to frequent use heat exchangers are subjected to fouling. Fouling is deposition of unwanted layers on the heat transfer surface. This unwanted deposition induces a resistance between heat transfer surface and fluid flowing. It results in reduction in heat transfer rate. Therefore it is necessary to remove these depositions by maintenance procedures. There are several maintenance methods to remove the depositions. The objective of this work to select a better maintenance strategy for a ethanol condenser. The condenser is cleaned by two methods- Pressurized water jetting and Chemical cleaning by alkaline treatment. Data was collected from preventive maintenance record of the condenser for ten weeks before overhauling was done for maintenance. Then after cleaning was done by both methods and operation parameters was collected for ten weeks after the maintenance for each method. From this data performance parameters were calculated and compared with each other. After calculations it was found that heat transfer rate after cleaning in case of pressurized air jetting was 11802.95021 W which is of 96.23% designed value (22000 W) whereas in case of chemical treatment it was 21171.122 W which is 87.11% of design value. Recovery in values of LMTD and overall heat transfer coefficient was greater in case of pressurized air jetting when compared to chemical treatment. Hence for the given ethanol condenser pressurized water jetting is more suitable than chemical treatment. Read More...

Study on Adobe Bricks& Earth Structures to Enhance their Scope of Usability
-Ajay Kumar ; Kaushik Borkakoti
Building materials are always regarded as essential components for constructing living spaces which would help in good habitation of human beings. One of the most commonly used materials is brick that is used to construct any area. The cost & nature friendly is considered as one of the factors to decide the efficiency of the material along with other properties that contributes to the strength & durability of the whole structure. From ancient times our one of the major concern is related to housing and we have used many methods to build our homes using various materials & in that process the brick has also gone under a revolution of changes making it commercially more accessible along with making it more productive in terms of fulfilling the requirements. The concept of Adobe bricks came in the early days when there was little technological advancement took place though the quality of mud, made the prospect of using these type of bricks very famous for construction of houses which could be seen even in the present time especially regions of Sahara desert & areas which are less likely to be get any moisture trouble. The durability & its degradation in quality coming in contact with moisture posed a serious concern over the maintenance of the structure resulting in the decreasing value of Adobe bricks & at present the conventional brick we use for general construction work are considered far superior in terms moisture absorption & cost effective nature. With mud being the primary material for producing Adobe bricks it is seen that with addition to mud if the composition is altered by adding chemicals mainly fiber components would result in enhancing the ability of the brick to sustain the effects of moist climatic regions. Pattern based Cryptography Technique on GGH Cryptosystem using Ceaser Cipher
-Ajay Agnihotri ; Rahul Patidar; Ms. Vidhyavani. A
Lattice based Cryptography is an important sector which is ensuring cloud data security in present world. It provides a stronger belief of security in a way that the average-case of certain problem is akin to the worst-case of those problems. There are strong indications that these problems will remain safe under the availability of quantum computers, unlike the widely used issues like integer- factorization and discrete logarithm upon which most of the typical cryptosystems relies. In this paper, we tend to discuss the security dimension of Lattice based cryptography whose power lies within the hardness of lattice problems. Goldreich- Goldwasser-Halevi (GGH) public-key cryptosystem is an exemplar of lattice-based cryptosystems. Its security depends on the hardness of lattice issues. GGH is easy to understand and is widely used due to its straightforward data encoding and decoding procedures. Read More...
