Power Quality Improvement and Power System Unbalance Loading Improvement using Active Power Filter for Solar PV and Wind Integrated System
-Harshita P. Ambatkar ; Nilima B. Dhande
The deep integration of renewable energy resources, together with solar photovoltaic system (PV) and wind turbine (WT) energy, principally rely on the cheap technological improvement of worldwide emissions and therefore the precise techniques for power quality. Grid-connected inverters act as key elements in distributed generation systems for last technology. The electrical converter connects the renewable energy sources and power distribution network systems for the conversion of power. In grid-connected systems, many current and voltage harmonics have an effect on the system performances. Likewise, extremely unstable devices plus the growing demand for nonlinear masses and renewable energy resources influence the ability networks and systems performance in terms of power quality. The effective solutions to those issues are active filters (PFs), static volt-ampere generators, and active power filters (APFs). However, the utilization of PFs during a high-voltage system will increase its price, size, and weight. This study aims to assess the foremost advanced APFs by reducing the amount of power switches and concentrate on the reduction of price, size, and weight of grid-connected inverters. Many studies compared and evaluated reduced-switch-count APF electrical converter topologies, like AC–AC, consecutive, and customary leg, beneath the single-phase and three-phase systems. Recently, efficient solutions to cut back the amount of elements, transformer less inverters, construction and multifunctional inverters supported the APF in PV, and wind energy conversion systems are greatly explored. The present techniques and their limitations for developing advanced inverter-based devices for renewable energy systems are mentioned with justifications. Therefore, this review would doubtless facilitate industrial researchers improve power quality in PV and WT energies and power distribution network systems. Read More...

-Mrs. Priya. R ; Mr. Anbarasan; Mr. S. Shakthivel
The agricultural sector is the backbone of Indian Economy contributing majorly to the countrys GDP. Indias food grain production reached around 275.88 million tonnes in the year 2017-18 and is estimated to reach 278.55 million tonnes in 2018-19. As on February 2018, it is estimated that over 58% of rural Indians depends on agriculture for their livelihood and this sector contributes around 17-18% to the countrys GDP. As per the 2014 FAO , world agriculture statistics India is the worlds largest producer of many fresh fruits like banana, mango, guava, papaya, lemon and vegetables like chickpea, okra and milk, major spices like chili pepper, ginger, fibrous crops such as jute, staples such as millets and castor oil seed. India is standing as a largest producer of wheat and rice and contributes 20% of the world total rice needs. In spite of these large numbers, food production still does not meet the needs of population. The successful operation of pre and post-harvest technologies is essential towards the food availability and security worldwide. The grain harvesting is a combined process which incorporates the various harvesting processes such as gathering, drying, threshing, separation and cleaning, etc., particularly drying and threshing are the most important function. Countries like India are blessed with abundant solar energy and it is a large sources for meeting energy demand without putting adverse impact of environment. Biomass energy is also employed as auxiliary heating source due to its availability and cost effectiveness in rural areas. This paper describes about the design and performance assessment of a low cost solar powered grain dryer with dehusking system for post harvesting technologies. In the proposed prototype model, drying chamber serves as the first stage with a solar collector to convert the energy of the sun rays into heat with the help of transparent top of the drying tunnel, which increases the temperature of the drying air, blower will move the air through the drying tunnel, inflate the tunnel, and take out the moisture content from the grains placed inside the chamber. The whole dehusking mechanism consists of a solar panel, a rechargeable battery and a charge controller to generate electricity that drives a worm gear motor. The complete system was designed for small to medium scale agro-processors in a way to reduce post-harvest expenditures and also to improve the product quality. Read More...

-Ajay Kumar Maurya ; Abhinav Mishra; Aniket Gupta
Low light imaging is a challenge of cameras because of low photon counts and low signal to noise ratio. In case of low lighting taking an image becomes more challenging and complex. Generally all camera supports low light imaging but not all images result are good because they mostly uses traditional pipeline. Traditional Pipelining performs various processing such as Histogram Processing or scaling but it does not resolve the low SNR because of low photon counts. And generally short exposure images suffers from noise, while long exposure images may induce blur due to camera shake or Object motion and is often impractical. There are many different types of techniques like denoising, deblurring and image enhancement which are already proposed but all these techniques have a certain limits that the images are take in dim environment but they cannot give better result in extremely low light. In this paper we have proposed a learning based pipeline which uses Artificial intelligence to train his neurons to improve the learning, which can see in extremely low lighting. In this paper we are introducing a dataset of raw short-exposure low light images to correspond with images of long exposure time. Read More...

Review on Design and Analysis of Leaf Spring
-B. D. Dhangar ; P. G. Patil
A multi-leaf spring is one of the most important components of automobile suspension system. Leaves are basically a series of flat plates, usually of semi-elliptical shape. Generally, a multi-leaf spring used in automobile suspension, consists of two types of leaves i.e. graduated-length leaves and full-length leaves. The present work is an attempt to estimate the magnitude of bending stresses in the above mentioned leaves for a semi-elliptic multi-leaf spring made of steel. A lot of research work has been carried out in the context of leaf spring considering its material and a significant progress has been observed in the field of weight reduction, improvement of load carrying capacity when we replace the material of the spring by any advanced material like composites as E-glass/epoxy, carbon/epoxy etc. Finally referring to the results obtained in these research studies, the present work proposes a new idea regarding the construction of multi-leaf spring based on practical applications. Dimensions of the multi-leaf spring are taken from practical understanding and calculate dimension manually from standard chart of automobile spring. The multi-leaf spring was modelled in CATIA V5R18 and the same were analysed under similar conditions using ANSYS (Workbench 12.0) software considering structural-steel as the spring material. -V. Pugazhenthi ; Frank D Souza; Jesus Fernandes; Akash Hattargi; Neel Chari
It is a real challenge when we try to move through an unknown environment and can not rely on our own eyes. Visually impaired people face this problem every day of their lives. They usually rely on a walking stick for navigation. They use the walking stick to detect static obstacles on the ground, stairs, holes and uneven surfaces through simple tactile-force feedback. Though it is light and portable, its range is limited to its own size and is not suitable for dynamic components. This paper focuses on developing a Smart Walking Stick using the NodeMCU ESP32 to help the visually impaired people to walk more confidently by providing information about their environment. Ultrasonic sensors are used to detect obstacles, pits, and stairs that lie ahead and to alert them of the same, thereby reducing the amount of accidents while walking. Water sensing pins are used to detect wet surfaces. The stick is programmed to connect automatically to the Android phone using Wi-Fi for sending sensor data, for giving auditory feedback to the user and also for determining the best route to be taken to reach a new location by integrating GPS technology. If the stick is dropped accidently, the touch sensing pins send a signal to the buzzer which will help the user to locate it easily. SMS alert facility is also provided in case of emergency situations. Read More...

Correlation between Fineness and Compressive Strength of Flyash Collected from Different Sources for Partial Replacement of Cement in Mortar
-Pankaj Joshi ; Raj Kumar; Rajeev Kumar
Today construction engineers all over the world are looking for an alternative to replace cement as a binding material in concrete by a material which would have good binding properties, easily available, reduce the overall cost of production, and at the same time would be environmental friendly. In modern construction industry, fly ash is an excellent alternative to meet all such required properties and has been widely accepted. In view of global warming, every effort is being made to reduce the emission of CO2 to the environment. Cement manufacturing industries are major contributor in the emission of CO2 as for every one ton of cement manufactured; one ton of carbon dioxide is released. By replacing cement with a material of pozzolanic characteristic, such as the fly ash, the cement and concrete industry together can meet the growing demand in the construction industry as well as help in reducing the environmental pollution. A concrete mix with fly ash can also provide economic benefits. Fly Ash concrete enhances the workability, compressive strength, flexural strength and also increases its pump ability, durability and concrete finishing. The fly ash used in concrete industry by partly replacement it with cement and also in embankment for filling the material. Leaving the waste materials to the environment directly can cause environmental problem. Hence the reuse of waste material has been emphasized. These industrial wastes are dumped in the nearby land and the natural fertility of the soil is spoiled. Flyash can be used as a partial replacement of cement in concrete without compromising in strength. Replacing cement with fly ash can reduce the heat of hydration of concrete. This reduction in the heat of hydration does not sacrifice long-term strength gain or durability. The reduced heat of hydration lessens heat rise problems in mass concrete placements. Comparison and correlation between fineness of flyash and compressive strength of flyash cement mortar is presented in this paper. Read More...

Effect of In-pavement Warning Lights on National Highway
-Nitish Shekhawat ; Nitin Thakur
Pedestrian safety is among one of the largest concerns in the transportation profession. Many treatments have been developed and implemented to improve pedestrian safety. This current research focuses on the efficiency of in-pavement warning lights systems and involves multiple objectives. The primary objective is to evaluate the yielding rates and crosswalk usage of existing and proposed in-pavement lights systems with comparisons including before and after data through a case study approach. A secondary objective is to evaluate where drivers are looking when they approach in-pavement lights systems and develop a model to evaluate their behavior. The research described herein formulated these objectives into two research hypotheses and used statistical evaluation methodologies to provide quantitative and/or qualitative responses to the developed hypotheses. Data on pedestrian and driver behavior in the field, and the interaction between, them was collected using video camera technology in the multicities. As per the report ‘Make Roads Safe: A Decade of Action’ by the Commission for Global Road Safety, road accidents lead to the death of about 1.3 million people in the world each year. In total, 1,949 non-staged pedestrians and 606 staged pedestrians were observed crossing at the seven crosswalk locations in the field experiment and a total of 32 drivers participated in 576 crosswalk scenarios in the driving simulator evaluation. The field evaluation resulted in increased yielding rates and crosswalk usage after installation of in-pavement warning lights, while driving simulator evaluation resulted in drivers not becoming accustomed to scanning for lights instead of a pedestrian. Recommendations include installation of in-pavement warning lights at traditional, midblock crosswalks and continued exploration of all crosswalks in the driving simulator evaluation. Read More...

Smart Flood Prediction System
-Aneena Joy ; Dr. G Kiruthiga
Flood occurrences are the most hated environmental hazard around the world. This is due to floods threaten human life and furthermore affect the economy of the involved country. Floods are usually due to the season monsoon and heavy rains causing flash floods usually in urban area. Therefore, it is a must for researchers around the world to find a solution for this problem. A reliable and practical flood prediction model is in need to predict flood occurrence ahead of time. Thus, this paper proposes the modelling of flood prediction system using Extended NNARX (Neural Network Autoregressive with Exogenous Input) with EKF (Extended Kalman Filter). Various environmental parameters required for flood prediction such as temperature, humidity, water level, water quality are obtained by using various sensors. The data continuously obtained from these sensors are used to train the Extended NNARX model. The trained Extended NNARX model can predict the occurrence and non-occurrence of flood by taking the current climatic conditions as input and comparing it with the previous values. Weather prediction is also possible from the sensor readings. Alert notifications are sent to the authorities as well as the public whenever occurrence of flood is predicted. Public is also alerted through a buzzer. The sensor values and its graphical representation are displayed through a LCD and a monitor respectively that are placed at public locations so that the public will be aware of the current climatic conditions of their location in real time. Extended LCCF for Object Detection
-Disha Davis ; Nicy Johnson
Object detection is a series of segments containing the features of interest, which are taken as pre-processing and widely applied in various vision tasks. Of these, face recognition is one of its major application. It is a computer vision technology related to the modern method called image processing that deals with identifying instances in the objects of a certain class such as humans that get resided in both images and videos. However, most of existing approaches only utilizes the proposals to compute the location; the aim is to propose a fastest algorithm for making the process as an efficient task. So the correlation procedure has been introduced in order to overcome these existing disadvantages. It is a highly accurate method in order to solve the optimization problems in the correlation filters, more specifically, filters called extended latent constrained correlation filters (LCCF) are proposed. Extended LCCF will maps the correlation filters to a given latent subspace that is created thereby establish a new learning framework. It will relate each pixel in the real time video that is given as the input and will extract the feature points by feature extraction method. The feature points will be stored in the subspace where it recreates using a newer algorithm called autopath algorithm. It will accurately detect the person in the video when it contains noises and occlusions. The extended LCCF method will outperform significantly better than other competing approaches. Read More...

Analysis of Comparison Based Sorting Algorithms
-Atitesh Gaurav
An algorithm is a set of steps of operations to solve a problem performing calculation, data processing, and automated reasoning tasks. Sorting is an important issue in Data Structure which creates the sequence of the list of items. Although numbers of sorting algorithms are available, it is all the more necessary to select the most efficient sorting algorithm. Sorting algorithms are usually judged by their efficiency. The efficiency of a sorting algorithm is related to the number of items being processed. Sorting is the procedure of ordering list of elements in ascending or descending with the help of key value in specific order. We will see how Comparison Based sorting algorithms perform operation and then distinguish them based on various constraints to come with outcome. Here efficiency refers to the algorithmic efficiency as the size of the input grows large and is generally based on the number of elements to sort. In this paper, we have implemented different types of Comparison Based sorting algorithms like Insertion sort, Selection sort and Merge sort with their analysis in term of worst, average, and best case. Design and Analysis of Plan Symmetrical and Asymmetrical Building with or without Base Isolation
-Sumit Raghav ; Mr. Nitish Kumar
Earthquake resistant structures are kind of structures which are designed to protect buildings against collapsing due to effect of earthquake; while structure can be entirely immune to damage from earthquakes, the goal of earthquake-resistant construction is to erect structures that fare better during seismic activity than their conventional counterparts. According to various building codes, earthquake resistant Buildings are intend to with stand the largest earthquake of a certain probability that is likely to occur at their position. This means that the loss of people should be reduced or minimized by preventing collapse of the buildings for rare earthquakes while the loss of the functionality should be limited for more frequent ones. In this report, Base Isolation is used for the construction of earthquake resistant building. Base isolation is that type of system which decreases the effect of earthquake in terms of displacement, base shear and in many others terms. Base isolation system consists of isolators which are used to reduce the effects of earthquake. At present time, the magnitude of earthquake is very high. In this thesis report, we consider Seismic Zone-IV for G+14 building for the evaluation of Time period, base shear and displacement with considering 4 models in ETAB software i.e. fixed base and isolated base. Base isolation is type of method generally known as a-state of-the-art method in which the structure above ground level, the structure is separated from the base below ground level by introducing a suspension system between the main structure and the base. This phenomena Base isolation is popularly termed as seismic isolation system which is a collection of structural elements which should substantially decouple a structure above ground level from its structure below ground level resting on a shaking ground thus protecting the building’s structural integrity. The fundamental principle of this phenomena i.e. base isolation is to modify the response of the building so that the ground can shake below the building without transmitting these motions into the structure. Base isolation system deflects & absorbs the energy released from the earthquake before it is transferred to the structure. Read More...

Benefits of Firebase Authentication over Traditional Authentication
-Ekta Yuvraj Waghulde ; Ruchita Jaitapkar
In today’s world most apps must have some form of user identification. This allows them to set preferences, store data, and provide personalized experiences that are consistent across all the user’s devices. In order to provide this, they must provide the facility to sign up new users, sign in existing users, manage account details, and keep all this data secure. It’s a very difficult and time-consuming process. From user experience perspective, it is also very difficult to get right information. Users tend to hesitate to give out information that is confidential such as their user name, password, security questions, and anything else that should they don’t to be leaked or cause any sort of damage to them. As a result, they generally prefer using credentials that they have already provided to a third party, and having that third party manage the sign-in for them ,so for example, if they have a Facebook account, they use Facebook to verify to your app that they are who they say they are, without needing to give you their information also. A Review Paper on the History and the Construction of Cryogenic Engine
-Himanshu Shivcharan Bhandare
Cryogenic is technology that every country wanted but due to its complex working and difficulty of handling of liquid propellant and oxidizer make it hard to develop. Only few countries have achieve and master this technology. Cryogenic engine follows the newtons third law of motion i.e; there is always equal and opposite reaction. Cryogenic engines have more efficiency than solid and liquid propellant. Every engine work only when it losses its heat but the whole concept of this engine is to loss heat and get output in the form of thrust. Nominal thrust of cryogenic engine is about 196.5 KN in vacuum with the specific impulse of 434 sec. All the cryogenic engine available follow some cycle for the operation basically there are four cycles which have discovered. Every engine have the basic component only difference in those engine are the flow of the fuel and the oxidizer in the engine. This technology is important because of that MTCR (Missile Technology Control Regime) restrict the use of cryogenic engine for missile manufacturing. Read More...

Asymmetric Source Configuration Inverter Topology for Standalone PV System
-Amit Sadhak ; Satyadharma Bharti; Juli Singh Sadhak
The conversion of DC to AC has emerged as a vital technology in present electrical scenario. Voltage source inverters are basically categorized on the basis of output waveform configuration of voltage. The multilevel inverters (MLIs) are considerably emerging with enhanced importance and performance with modern topologies overcoming the shortcomings of classical topologies. In addition to the advantage of reduced component count associated with MLIs, few more performance characteristics (such as fault tolerance capability, charge balance control etc.) play a very key role in the practical implementation of multilevel dc-ac conversion. A structure obtained from hybridization of diode-clamped and T-type topologies is discussed in this paper. The entire mathematical model of the proposed topology is presented. The analysis on the applicability of source-symmetry has been carried out. The performance of the proposed topology has been analyzed through the simulation based results carried out in MATLAB/Simulink. Read More...

Optimization of Air Conditioning and Emission Reduction by Geothermal Heat Exchanger
-Dr. Umesh Gowda B M ; Sreekumar S L; Deven Rajbanshi; Sanjay Rajbanshi; Niveda S
In the present scenario a very large portion of energy is used for the air conditioning of the buildings which is the wastage of energy as it is required for cooling in summer and for heating in winters. So it is desired that we must use the renewable sources of energy for this purpose and geothermal energy may be one of the suitable energy source. Geothermal (or Geo-exchange) is a type of HVAC System (Heating, Venting, and Air-conditioning).The earth absorbs almost 50% of all solar energy and remains a nearly constant temperature of 10°C (50°F) depending on geographic location. Working with an underground loop system, a geothermal unit utilizes this constant temperature to exchange energy between the building and the earth as needed for heating and cooling. Geothermal is the most efficient Air-conditioning system because the ground temperature stays stable and has no regard for the above ground ambient temperature. A geothermal heat exchanger simply takes advantage of this low temperature energy source and sends it up to a usable level to cool the building. Geothermal Heat Exchanger draws energy out of the ground which stays relatively constant year round. This is typically an arrangement of pipes with selected piping material and loop design, buried in the ground. Soil temperature at a certain depth, adequate piping material, configuration and performance of the installed system evaluated experimentally. The temperature gradient of 15oC to 25oC on average has been achieved from the developed working model. Read More...

FPGA Implementation of the Hybrid Model of Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) using LUT
-Dasharathprasad Kailashnath Gupta ; Mahesh K. Patil; Niraj B. Kapase; Santosh P. Salgar; B. N. Sachidanand
The DDS have been experimentally implemented in Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) that synthesis the waveforms like sine wave, triangular, Saw tooth and Square wave using Look up Table (LUT). A Very High Speed Integrated Circuit (VHSIC) Hardware Description Language (VHDL) based ROM is designed using embedded RAM of the Xilinx Spartan - 6 FPGA chip. A VHDL based counter is also designed which works as address generator to continuously supply the address of ROM to read the stored sample values from the LUT. The digital part consists of a Phase Accumulator (PA) and a LUT. The 16-bits Phase Accumulator is implemented by means of a register along with an adder and feedback loop. LUT is implemented using VHDL code. The size of LUT is reducing by storing quarter of sine wave in the ROM. This design was tested with various tuning frequencies and the result shows that the output frequency is directly proportional to the tuning input frequency. The sample values are converted into continuous signals using a Digital to Analog Converter (DAC). The VHDL program is downloaded into FPGA chip using JTAG in Xilinx Integrated Software Environment (ISE) tool. The simulation results of VHDL based ROM with address generator is shown in the form timing diagram obtained using ModelSim software. Experimental result of generation of sinusoidal waveform is also presented. FPGA development board has 100MHz on board clock generator. Since we are using FPGA as a hardware part, in future easily upgrade the signal generator by altering the VHDL program for FPGA design. Estimated power consumption of the FPGA based design excluding the DAC is found to be 240mW. Read More...

Automatic Student Attendance System
-Michelle Araujo e Veigas ; Saptak Banerjee; Richard Simoes; Rahul Dicholkar; Nikisha Thanekar
In this paper, we propose a framework that manages the attendance of students for classroom lecture. For the attendance to be taken automatically, face of an individual is considered. Conventional method requires calling out the name or roll number of students in order to take attendance. This process consumes at least 5-10 minutes of a 60 minute lecture. To avoid this, an automatic process is used in this project which is based on digital image processing. In this project face detection and recognition is used. To detect the face region, here face detection is used and then face recognition algorithm is used for marking students attendance. The database of all the students in the classroom is stored and when the face of the individual student matches with one of the faces stored in the database then the attendance is recorded. Noise Detection and Image Processing using APF
-Reshma P K ; Mrudula K P
To overcome the drawbacks of existing filters for salt and pepper noises, an adaptive probability filter is proposed. For an image, it detects salt and pepper noises based on the characteristic of minimum and maximum intensity values of the images, as well as the distribution of noise. If the noise-free intensities in neighbourhood repeat with a certain probability, the noise-free intensity with highest repeated frequency is used to remove noise based on the statistical significance; otherwise, the median of noise-free pixels in neighbourhood is used to remove noise. Experiments show that the proposed method is capable of detecting noise more accurately and perform much better than the existing distinguished filters in terms of peak-signal-to-noise ratio, image enhancement factor, and visual representation at all the noise densities.
