The Internet of Things
-Shubham Kumar ; Dr. Neelu Trivedi
The Internet of Things (IoT) is the internetworking of physical devices, vehicles and other objects which consists of an embedded system with sensors, actuators and network connectivity that enable to collect and exchange data. The IoT allows objects to be sensed and/or controlled remotely across existing network infrastructure, creating opportunities for more integration of the physical world into computer-based systems, and result in improved accuracy, efficiency and economic benefit. The IoT is a rapidly increasing and promising technology which becomes more and more present in our everyday lives. Furthermore, the technology is an instance of the more general class of cyber-physical systems, which also encompasses technologies such as smart grids, smart homes and smart cities. Considering the high-rate development of IoT technologies, and the significant increment in the number of the connected devices, comprehensive overview of the IoT system aims, architecture, challenges, applications, protocols, and market overview were discussed. In order to give an example of IoT solution, a simple IoT demonstrator was implemented using the current affordable hardware, and cloud efficient software. With this demonstrator, the simplicity and design flexibility of IoT solution were highlighted and two of the IBM IoT software, Node-RED and Bluemix, were examined. We see the IoT as billions of smart, connected "things" (a sort of "universal global neural network" in the cloud) that will encompass every aspect of our lives, and its foundation is the intelligence that embedded processing provides. The IoT is comprised of smart machines interacting and communicating with other machines, objects, environments and infrastructures. As a result, huge volumes of data are being generated, and that data is being processed into useful actions that can "command and control" things to make our lives much easier and safer—and to reduce our impact on the environment. The creativity of this new era is boundless, with amazing potential to improve our lives. The following thesis is an extensive reference to the possibilities, utility, applications and the evolution of the Internet of Things. Read More...

Structure and Function of Biomembrane Ion Channel
-Prof. Ashwini Ganpat Kharde ; Prof. Prashant Sampat Kale; Prof N. M. Garad
Conventional oxidation processes are used in water Viral ion channels are short auxiliary membrane proteins with a length of ca. 100 amino acids. They are found in enveloped viruses from influenza A, influenza B and influenza C (Orthomyxoviridae), and the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1, Retroviridae). The channels are called M2 (influenza A), NB (influenza B), CM2 (influenza C) and Vpu (HIV-1). Recently, in Paramecium bursaria chlorella virus (PBCV-1, Phycodnaviridae), a K. selective ion channel has been discovered. The viral channels form homo oligomers to allow an ion flux and represent miniaturised systems. Proton conductivity of M2 is established; NB, Vpu and the potassium channel from PBC-1 conduct ions; for CM2 ion conductivity is still under proof. This review summarises the current knowledge of these short viral membrane proteins. Their discovery is outlined and experimental evidence for their structure and function is discussed. Studies using computational methods are presented as well as investigations of drug protein interactions. Membranes play a central role in both the structure and function of all cells, prokaryotic and eukaryotic, plant and animal. Membranes basically define compartments, each membrane associated with an inside and an outside. If this were all they did, membranes would be considerably importance and Diversity of Membranes less interesting than they are. But, membranes not only define compartments, they also determine the nature of all communication between the inside and outside. This may take the form of actual passage of ions or molecules between the two compartments (in and out) or may be in the form of information, transmitted through conformational changes induced in membrane components. In addition, attached to membranes are many cellular enzymes. Some of these enzymes catalyze transmembrane reactions, involving reactants on both sides of the membrane or molecular transport. Others are involved in sequential reactions involving a series of enzymes which are concentrated in the plane of the membrane, thus facilitating efficient interactions. Still other enzymes have membrane-bound subs. Read More...

Towards Automated Agriculture
-Prajwal N. Chavan ; Leena A. Bhere
The Internet of Things (IoT) where sensors, actuators and controllers come together to ease the human life and share information. The IoT is grabbing the field of agriculture too i.e. Precision Agriculture (PA). One third part of nations capital comes from farming and 70%of our population id depending on farming. Betterment in farming will absolutely lead to the betterment of the nation. The hard work life style of the farmers can be eased with the use of IoT technology. But due to some reasons even after inventions of many different devices for PA, Automated farming, Automated Irrigation system, automated fertilization, disease detection etc.; which are been invented to provide the farmers some ease in their work, we can find only some amount of farmers are actually not implementing those devices invented just for them. The use of the system that farmers are more used to is to be done to increase the acceptance level and make the interface better so they must use the technology made for them easily. A smart irrigation system by EmbedGallery https://www.embedgallery.com/(Samarth mobile motor controller) with the use of mobile GSM technology operates the motor auto- manually from anywhere in India. The farmers are easily accepting this system because it is easy to use compared to others, we will move forward here by making use of IoT technology (sensors and controllers) making the system automated and more precise.

Optimization of Process Parameters for Machining Stainless Steel using Plasma Arc Machining
-Sheikh Junaid Nabi ; Sachin Kaushik
Every product we use in day-to-day life has undergone the machining process either directly or indirectly. The importance of machining process can be judged from the fact that more than $100 billion is spent annually on machining related operations. Conventional machining processes stress the material beyond the yield point to start the material removal process. To achieve this purpose the cutting tool material should be harder than the workpiece material. With the discovery of new class of materials like nimonic alloys, alloys with alloying elements like Tungsten, Molybdenum and Columbium the conventional machining process are not suitable to put in use as machining these materials pose difficulty. Machining these materials with conventional methods is time consuming as well as difficult as the material removal rate decreases with increase in hardness. This led to development of non-conventional machining processes. Non-conventional machining processes do not replace the conventional machining process but supplement them. Some of the non-conventional machining processes are Electric Discharge Machining, Electro Chemical Machining, Electro Chemical Grinding, Ultrasonic Machining, Laser Beam Machining, Plasma Arc Machining, Water Jet Machining, Abrasive Water Jet Machining etc. With the development of non-conventional machining processes the production rate has been enhanced with increase in the product quality. Non-conventional machining processes had up to greater extent lowered the degree of further surface finishing requirement. In this paperwork literature has been studied in context to "Optimization of Process Parameters using Plasma Arc Machining". The work pieces of Stainless Steel were used for experiment purpose. The Taguchi Experimental Design was used for process optimization. The optimization values have been developed with the aid of Minitab-18 Software. Confirmation tests were done to check the genuineness of the values obtained through the software. Read More...

-Mr. Vijay D Zarkar ; Mr Vaishnav Saykar; Mr Vedang D Sharma; Mr Kshitij N Sable
The main objective of this paper is to design, analyze and fabricate a double wishbone suspension system for an All- Terrain Vehicle for SAE BAJA INDIA competition. The suspension system comprises of wishbones, shock absorbers, springs, wheel assembly, and ball-joints. The suspension system supports the sprung mass of the vehicle. It also absorbs the shocks and vibrations arising from the rough terrains and roads. It is responsible for the safety of a vehicle during its maneuver. It also serves the dual purpose of providing stability to the vehicle while providing a comfortable ride quality to the occupants. Nowadays, modern automobiles are incorporating the active and semi-active type of suspension system. Due to cost restrictions, the type of suspension is the passive type. During the design, the focus was more on weight and cost optimization. This paper proposes a method for the design of wishbones, shocks, wheel assembly. Double wishbone A-arm suspension was chosen for front and H- arm suspension was chosen for the rear. The design of the components was done on CATIA V5 R21. It included the design of wishbones, wheel knuckle and wheel hub. All the components were rigorously analyzed on ANSYS Workbench 19.1. It included the static structural analysis of all the components. The dynamic characteristics of the system were analyzed on simulation tools. The output characteristics of the passive system (without variable length arms) were validated on LOTUS software. In LOTUS, various geometries like camber, caster, and kingpin inclination were set accordingly. After the CAE of components, a material survey was done and apt material was chosen. Wishbones were fabricated and wheel assembly was done on VMC. Hence, this provides the scope for an optimized and durable performance of the suspension system. Read More...

Designing of Grid Connected Solar Wind Hybrid System using Nine Level Inverter
-Nema Parveen ; Vijay Gupta
Many multilevel inverter topologies have been proposed during the last three decades. Modern research has engaged novel inverter topologies and unique modulation schemes. Three different major multilevel inverter structures have been reported in the literature: cascaded H-bridges inverter with separate DC sources, diode clamped (neutral clamped) and flying capacitors (capacitor clamped). Multilevel inverters are utilized generally in the regular applications due to the high voltage capacity and it delivers the multilevel with low composition with least concern in the exchanging gadgets. Contrasted with the traditional single scaffold inverter the multilevel inverter lessens the music due to the multi exchanging. The multilevel inverter produces distinctive voltage levels by shifting the exchanging grouping of the inverter. As the conservative energy sources are demolishing, in the middle of consequent mount in cost, solar and wind energy offers a major substitute resource which is free from pollution also. This paper proposes an idea of using hybrid energy system with the multilevel inverter system. Read More...

Vibrational Analysis of Uniform and Tapered Steel Cantilever Beams of Rectangular Section, Channel Section and I-Section
-Shubham Upadhayay ; Dr. J. N. Vyas
Beams are very common types of structural components and Structural beams can be classified according to their geometric configuration as uniform or taper and slender or thick. If practically analyzed, the non-uniform beams provide a better distribution of mass and strength than uniform beams and can meet special functional requirements in architecture, aeronautics, robotics, and other innovative engineering applications. Beams and beam-like elements are used in many structures and mainly in aircrafts, turbines and light weight structures etc. Design of such structures are important to resist dynamic forces, such as wind and earthquakes and Due to this dynamic forces “Vibrations†can be induced in the structures and these vibrations can adversely affect the structures and can cause cracks in the structure, which ultimately leads to the failure of the structure therefore It requires the basic knowledge of natural frequencies and mode shapes of those structures. In this research work, steel cantilever beams of different cross-section beams are used such as Rectangular cross section beam, I-section beam and Channel section beam and tapered cantilever beams and in this research work, natural frequencies and mode shapes of uniform and tapered section cantilever beams are calculated, with the help of Finite Element Method by using "ANSYS" program. Comparative Analysis of Noisy Image Edge Detection Techniques using Different Parameters
-Ashis Kumar Kar ; Mrutyunjaya Panda
The most important goal of image processing is to interpret the content of image efficiently and finds the meaningful and significant information from it. The image obtained after transmission is often corrupted with noise. A noise is introduced in the transmission medium due to a noisy channel, errors during the measurement process and during quantization of the data for digital storage. Before applying image processing tools to an image, noise removal from images is done at highest priority. There are various noises like Salt and Pepper, Gaussian noise etc. and various filtering techniques available for removing the noises from the images like Mean filter, Median filter and Gaussian filter etc. So before applying edge detection techniques on an image it must be a noise free image. Edges are the fundamental features of the image and can be formed from the outlines of the object. Edge detection is generally used in image analysis and processing. There are several types of algorithm to detect the edges. In this paper, the comprehensive analysis is done on the several edge detection techniques such as Prewitt, Sobel, Canny, Roberts and Laplacian of Gaussian applied on a filtered image by applying Salt and Pepper noise, Gaussian noise and Speckle noise. They are analyzed based on the evaluation parameters PSNR, MSE and MAE. It is experimentally observed that Canny edge detector is working well than others. This work is implemented on Matlab R2013a. -Neeraj Pandey ; Pradeep Pandey; Ashish Patidar; Prof. Ravindra Verma
Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system is one of the post processing techniques and, it is widely used to meet emission standards. And it has been considered as the most effective means to reduce NOx emission from diesel engine. EGR cooler is a simple heat exchanger in which exhaust gas is cooled with the help of coolant from engine itself. Our objective is to improve the effectiveness of shell and tube type heat exchanger; So that exhaust gas recalculated will be cooled more, in this way combustion chamber temperature will be lowered and it reduces NOx emission. Therefore, we create different models 1, 2, 3 and 4 of EGR coolers. Model-1 is a simple shell and tube type and simulated its result on ANSYS fluent 16.0. Then in model-2 we replaced simple tubes by triangular finned type circular tube and get increased effectiveness of the same cooler. And in the model-3, we replace the plane tube in same model by rectangular finned tube, and in the Model-4, we replace simple tubes by Trapezoidal fin type tubes. Now compared all the four models by their effectiveness and suggest to use most effective Model-4 among them. We create four models of EGR cooler which are designed to check which type of EGR cooler is most effective out of these, Model-1 type of EGR cooler is consist of plain tube. Model-2 consist of internally triangular fins tube along its length and model-3 consist of internally rectangular fin tube and model-4 consist of trapezoidal fin tube on its surface .The maximum effectiveness is seen in case of the EGR cooler with trapezoidal fin tube. The objective of this research was to recycle household biodegradable waste using composting as a technique. Mixtures of organic materials which are components of biodegradable wastes were recycled by decomposing them under a controlled environmental condition. The initial moisture content of each of the materials make up the compost mixture was computed and classified as wet and dry materials, and the average moisture content for both wet and dry materials was computed. The dry materials were weighed as they were collected and were found to weigh 18kg with an average moisture content of 34.9% and a chosen moisture goal of 50%. Other results obtained showed that the weight and average moisture content of wet materials were 64.7kg and 54.2% respectively. The compost mixture was scaled down to half its quantity for easy turning. With an optimal environmental condition of moisture content (50%), adequate proportion of both the dry and wet material to meet the required Carbon/Nitrogen (C/N) ratio, and an appropriate volume of air in the pore spaces of the compost pile and microbial decomposition was initiated. At the end of the decomposition, a stabilized organic matter which can be used as fertilizer supplement by horticulturists, landscapers, orchardists, Farmers etc, was obtained. Read More...

-Chitranshu Pandey ; Chitranshu; Chandan Nishad; Gurpreet Rani; Pallavi Sharma
Biofilm is a slime layer formed on the surface of any substance by the accumulation of one or more than one microorganism by the help of extracellular matrix which contains polysaccharide, structural protein, cell debris and nucleic acid which is called extracellular polymeric stuff (EPS). Which can be formed anywhere like households, industrial pipes, medical equipments like catheters, medical implants, plant and animal tissue etc. Microbial biofilm has very bad impact on human health i.e., tooth decay when develop in tooth, cystic fibrosis when develop in lungs. In non-medical areas bio fouling of water, spoiling of food etc., occurs due to the presence of biofilm. Due to the composition of their structure they make themselves protective and resistance with the anti-microbial compounds. In this present research, to degrade these biofilms, we treated it with various phytochemical extracts, marketed medicines and combined them to make it effective against the biofilm. Which can further be used for the remedy of biofilm in upcoming year. Read More...

-Pradeep Pandey ; Neeraj Pandey; Prof. Devendra Singh Sikarwar; Prof. Dheeraj Shriwas
Increasing the rate of heat dissipation in automotive radiators is in great demand due to the use of more powerful engines in relatively small space. Insufficient rate of heat dissipation can result in overheating of the engine, and that causes corrosion and metal weakening of engine parts. The aim of this project is to design radiator for thermal stability of engine with increasing the rate of heat transfer and decreases the computational cost dramatically and leads the way to obtain hydrodynamic and thermal performance of elliptical and helical tube type radiator by using CFD analysis. By adopting this methodology, the thermal performance of a complete radiator design can be obtained within a reasonable computational time and a CFD model with the proposed methodology can be implemented as a design tool for the radiator design which would lead to more optimized radiator designs. Overall heat transfer is calculated for each design of elliptical & helical tube radiator. Different type of nano fluids Ethanol, Methanol, Al2O3/water2%, Al2O3/water3% and CuO/water and other coolants are taken into consideration while running the analysis. By Varying turbulence model and surface Nusselt number, the contours of temperature and pressure drop were calculated and plotted using software ANSYS. The purpose of this study is to minimize the heat load on the engine and lighten automotive component because of heat generation, and to make automotive radiators more compact while maintaining important level of heat performance The cooling capacity of Wagon-R radiator is computed with the proposed computational model and using different type of nano fluid to analyse thermal performance of both elliptical & helical tube type radiator and finally found that helical tube radiator with ethanol as coolant gives better result as compare to elliptical tube.
