Blast Furnace RAFT Calculator
-Shaurya Seth ; Omkar Barwade; N. N. Vishwanathan
In a blast furnace, there is a certain temperature called as Raceway Adiabatic Flame temperature (RAFT)[1] concluded as imperative for the efficient and effective functioning of the furnace by our research explained below. The RAFT is generated near the tuyeres purging hot blast, located above the hearth of the furnace. The hot blast from tuyeres gushes in at enormous velocities establishing a path for the gases to enter the coke region called a Raceway. Due to the force, some amount of coke gets entrapped in the raceway and reacts with the hot blast to form carbon monoxide which further elevates the temperature in that region, paving the way for RAFT. Our project revolved around the calculation of RAFT by controlling certain parameters and enforcing them in enthalpy balance equations. The RAFT hereby calculated was then adjusted to a certain influential temperature and the oxygen and moisture content of the blast required for the above adjustment was revealed. Furthermore, the oxygen and moisture content of the blast was chosen accordingly. The aforementioned process was executed in a calculator coded using python computer programming language. Optimization of Grinding Process Parameters on CNC Grinding M/C using Taguchi Method
-Akshay Bhole
In machining operations, one of the most important machining processes is grinding process. It is responsible for producing discrete components with high precision which accounts for one fourth of the total expenditure of machining processes in industrialized nations. So it is very important for us to understood grinding process to improve surface finishing of products. Many researchers and investigators had proved that parameters such as work speed, wheel speed, depth of cut, feed rate, number of passes, etc are responsible for the effect on grinding process. Every parameter should have optimum value for better surface finish. Design of experiments is the best concept for optimization of parameters at the earliest stage of the processes. In this project, response variable selected is surface finish and input parameters selected are depth of cut, feed rate, work speed. Fractional factorial design is to be done by selecting orthogonal array for three factors and their three levels. Optimum grinding process parameters are to be selected using S/N ratios in Minitab software and ANOVA is to be done for identifying most dominating factor among all three parameters. Read More...

In successfully securing data & information and to protect and secure it from further change technology named as “Block Chain†emerges in 2009. Although it is introduced in early 90s but rarely used back then. Block Chain is a specified series of block like structure in which every block stores some data and information. Every block in a block chain is linked to his earlier block cryptography using hashing. Each block has some very sensitive information which need not to be changed such as transaction data or land ownership information. The main purpose of Block Chain is to make sure that a data once stored in a block cannot be changed and if someone tries to change the data inside a block results in construction of a new block. Analysis of Tilting Train Mechanism -A Technical Report
-Shubham Sinha ; Prakash Markande
Transportation is the basic need of daily life due to which all the resources and the services are provided easily and on a systematic way. One of the most considerable example of the transportation is the train. People used to refer the train as a regular transport and travel option. In this work we are working on the suspension system of the train bogies so that travelling could become smoother and more comfortable without any disturbance of roughness and discomfort. To the structural engineer, damping means changes in overall stress within a structure subject to shock and vibration, with frequent arguments whether a structure will have "2%, 3%, 4%, but not more than 5%" structural damping. On the other hand, mechanical engineers do not necessarily view damping as a benevolent feature, since machines, by definition, are supposed to transmit forces and motions efficiently, without energy losses. Thus the need for damping in a machine often signifies that an engineering design error has been made. A tilting train is a train that has a mechanism enabling increased speed on regular rail tracks. As a train (or other vehicle) rounds a curve at speed, objects inside the train experience inertia. This can cause packages to slide about or seated passengers to feel squashed by the outboard armrest due to its centripetal force, and standing passengers to lose their balance. Tilting trains are designed to counteract this discomfort. In a curve to the left, the train tilts to the left to compensate for the g-force push to the right, and vice versa. The train may be constructed such that inertial forces cause the tilting (passive tilt), or it may have a computer-controlled power mechanism (active tilt). Read More...

Experimental Study of Partial Replacement of Coarse Aggregate with Coconut Shell and Silica Fume with Cement
-Deepa ; Lokesh
Using coconut shell (CS) as replacement should be urged as a priority in environmental concerns and construction cost lowering measure. The stainless-stell scrap material which is usually available in lathe industries are used in modern construction and likewise in pavement construction. The rising cost of structural material is a different concern, the explanation for enhance in cost is large demand of concrete in excess to scarcity of raw materials. Hence many researches are focusing on techniques of using waste material in concrete as to their properties. In this particular study, M25 grade of concrete was prepared by replacing coconut shell by 2.5%, 5%, 7.5% and 10% as a coarse aggregate and in addition to that 1% of Lathe Scrap & 10% of Silica Fume as a replacement of cement is used. Study of Availability and Extensibility of Theo Jansen Mechanism Following a Holistic Approach and Implementing in Wide Range of Applications in Terrain Region by the Use of Ball Bearings and Round Surface
-Md Aftab Khan
On this Earths landmass wheeled and tracked vehicles exists. But people and animals using their legs can go almost anywhere. The main aim of the walking mechanism is to develop rough terrain robots by capturing mobility autonomy and simulation of living creatures. Such robots can travel like living creatures in stepped stairways household clutters limit the utility of wheeled vehicles. Machines consist of a number of mechanisms for their successful operation and to give the desired output. Mechanisms like four-bar mechanism, single slider crank mechanism, double slider crank mechanism, etc, are used for transmitting motion, force, torque etc. The analytical data can be used for reference purpose to design a walking robot to attain better design qualities. There are many types of walking mechanisms but there are two major mechanisms implemented to their best. They are THEO JANSON’s mechanism and KLANN linkage. The first mechanism which I came across for purpose of smooth walking on terrain region was Klann mechanism which actually mimics the motion of the biological organism i.e., crab. Observing keenly I found that there were lot of drawbacks within the mechanism, the drawbacks being jerky motion and difficulty in the turning of the vehicle. The next step to be taken was to find a better mechanism which had a smooth walking pattern on any given terrain and could easily function as per requirements. The most flexible mechanism which I settled with is THEO-JANSEN MECHANISM (STRANDBEEST). My final contribution would be to do holistic analysis to determine the smooth working of the mechanism thereby walking lightly and swiftly and how to refrain from jamming. Finally, all vehicles must be controlled - by a human or other means. Therefore investigation is necessary in controlling such vehicles. Read More...

Design and Modelling of Coiler Mechanism for Mini Carding Machine
-Pawan T. Chambhare ; Prof. S. M. Fulmali; Dr. U. D. Gulhane
Carding is a very important process and the quality of the final yarn that we produce is very much dependent on the quality of carding and to maintain the quality of carded slivers are packaged in the form of coils. The sliver is very weak therefore the form of package should be such that it should adequate protection during handling and it should not get entangled or stretched during packaged formation. To maintain the sliver quality, the delivery speed of carding machine slightly lower than the coiler speed. This project is the outcome of the textile Industry need to design and validate a coiling mechanism for mini carding machine, as the delivery of mini carding machine doesn’t match with the existing coiling mechanism (as speed of coiling is very high). Mini carding machine needs slow speed coiling. Hence, there is a scope for designing the coiling mechanism as per the mini carding machine capacity. So that the sliver will get packaged more effectively in the sliver can. The mini-carding machine delivers 8kilograms of sliver in one hour. First the data accumulated from the existing coiler mechanism. Understood the working and design of mechanism. Mini carding machine thoroughly studied for understanding the coiler requirement. As per design data obtained and literature studied, coiler mechanism is designed and to validate the design a finite element analysis is carried out. For graphical representation 3d cad model is generated and to validate the design a finite element analysis is carried out. From the results it is observed that the design is safe for the given loading conditions. Read More...

Effect Reduction in Injection Moulding using DMAIC Technique
-Ravish Kumar ; Pankaj Rathore; Amit Kumar Tanwar
This research demonstrates the empirical application of Six Sigma and DMAIC to reduce product defects within a pressure die casting manufacturing organization. The work follows the DMAIC methodology to investigate defects, root causes and provide a solution to reduce/eliminate these defects. The analysis from employing Six Sigma and DMAIC indicated that the metal melting temperature, die temperature and die holding time influenced the amount of defective items produced. In particular, the design of experiments (DOE) and two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) techniques were combined to statistically determine the correlation of the metal melting temperature, die temperature and die holding time with defects as well as to define their optimum values needed to reduce/eliminate the defects. As a result, a reduction of 16.93 % to 10.04 % in the terminal cover and 16.62 % to 8.97 % in the din based cover was achieved, which helped the organization studied to reduce its defects per million opportunities (DPMO) and thus improve its Sigma level from 2.53 to 2.79for the terminal cover and 2.55 to 2.85for the din based cover. Wind Sensing Windmill
-Rahul Ugale ; Shubham Karpe
Energy development is a field of endeavour focused on making sufficient energy sources to meet the needs of the society. One of the most significant contributor to electricity generation is wind energy. Normally, windmills are placed at higher altitudes, wherein wind starts blowing in more than one direction due to climatic changes and seasons. This decreases the efficiency of the windmills. For this, we place pressure sensors on the nose cone of the windmill. These pressure sensors detects several speeds of wind as well as their direction and records them. This data is transferred to the control box, wherein microcontroller is placed. This microcontroller considers maximum wind speed condition. This in turn stimulates mechanical action, wherein the Ushaped clamp, placed on a roller bearing, which is connected to the nose cone aligns itself perpendicular to the direction of the wind. Analog circuits have been extensively used in industrial systems and their failure may make the systems work abnormally and even cause accidents. So if these faults cannot diagnose and remove at early stage it will cause problem. There are various faults occur in analog VLSI circuits during manufacturing of any analog circuits and if these faults are not diagnose at initial stages they will make changes in the output of the circuit and overall cost will increase. In this paper an approach is taken to remove parametric and catastrophic faults. A very simple, efficient and structural approach is taken which is based on signal flow graph. In this back-tracing is done using inverted signal flow graph which is used to calculate tolerance of the component. This approach is applicable to various linear analog VLSI circuits. For the detection of faults integrator circuit is used. All the circuits are simulated with the help of MATLAB/Simulink tool. Read More...

-Prof. Ashwini Bamanikar ; Ranjit S Jeve; Divya S Nair; Siddhi A Nalage; Rachana D Chavan
Due to the increasing growth in online recruitment, traditional hiring methods are becoming inefficient. The extraction of structured information from applicant resumes is needed not only to support the automatic screening of candidates, but also to efficiently route them to their corresponding occupational categories. This assists in minimizing the effort required by employers to manage and organize resumes, as well as to screen out irrelevant candidates. We need to find a way to save the time of the students which they earlier spent on searching the companies and reducing the complexity of screening process. This will increase the productivity and efficiency of the overall process. The recommended results can achieve higher score of precision and recall, and they are more relevant with users preferences before. Read More...

-Swapnil Kallappa Hingangave ; Prof. S. M. Shaikh; A. M. Vibhute
Convection is usually the dominant form of heat transfer in liquids and gases. Although sometimes discussed as a third method of heat transfer, convection is usually used to describe the combined effects of heat conduction within the fluid (diffusion) and heat transference by bulk fluid flow streaming. Bulk motion of fluid enhances heat transfer in many physical situations, such as between a solid surface and the fluid. This paper refers to the convective heat transfer from an inclined V-Fin Array whose surface is made black and the fins are sticked to it to form horizontal fin array and in form of inclined V-Fin to form V-Fin array. An Experiment on True-3D Optical Range Camera using Virtual Keyboard
-Jitendra Pramodray Dave
A virtual keyboard is actually a key-in device which uses highly advanced laser technology, to project a full sized keyboard on to a flat surface. Since the invention of computers they had undergone rapid miniaturization. Disks and components grew smaller in size, but only component remained same for decades -its keyboard. Since miniaturization of a traditional keyboard is very difficult we go for virtual keyboard. Here, a camera tracks the finger movements of the typist to get the correct keystroke. A virtual keyboard is a keyboard that a user operates by typing on or within a wireless or optical dectable surface or area rather than by depressing physical keys. Since their invention, computers have undergone rapid miniaturization from being a space saver to as tiny as your palm. Disks and components grew smaller in size, but one component still remained the same for decades - it is the keyboard. Miniaturization of keyboard had proved nightmare for users. Users of PDAs and smart phones are annoyed by the tiny size of the keys. The new innovation Virtual Keyboard uses advanced technologies to project a full-sized computing key-board to any surface. This device has become the solution for mobile computer users who prefer to do touch-typing than cramping over tiny keys. Virtual Keyboard is a way to eliminate finger cramping. All that is needed to use the keyboard is a flat surface. Using laser technology, a bright red image of a keyboard is projected from a device such as a handheld. Detection technology based on optical recognition allows users to tap the images of the keys so the virtual keyboard behaves like a real one. It is designed to support any typing speed. Read More...

Studies on Quarry Dust as Partial Replacement of Fine Aggregates in Concrete
-Shivendra Awasthi ; Archit Sharma
Natural sand is most commonly used fine aggregates in the production of concrete possess the problem of acute shortage in many areas. Quarry dust can be used as an economic alternative to the natural sand. In this investigation an attempt is made to utilize quarry dust as a partial substitute for natural sand in producing concrete. Natural sand is replaced by Quarry dust at an interval of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25%. Mix proportions for M20 concrete is prepared with reference to IS: 10262-2009 and IS: 456-2000 for the study of workability. Compressive strength and Flexural strength test results are compared with the conventional concrete. The strengths were obtained at the ages of 3, 7 and 28 days. Compressive and Flexural strength increased marginally from 5% to 15% replacement. There is a slight decrease in the corresponding compressive and flexural strength at 20% replacement. Good correlation was observed between compressive strength and flexural strength. It was observed that the addition of quarry dust that would replace the fine material at particular proportion has displayed an enhancing effect on properties of concrete. This investigation proves that quarry dust can be used as a partial substitute for natural sand in preparing concrete. Read More...

-Dinesh Kumar Sain ; Anshu Naruka; Jitendra Singh; Dhawal Kumar; Rahul Kumar
In the Synthesis of Metal–Oxied Based Nanocomposite, glycogen biopolymer is a good stabilization agent. We are proposing a synthesis of Ag-glycogen based nanocomposite in inert atmosphere. The samples with different contents of silver were prepared by two diverse procedures that include two inert atmosphere, synthesis in the presence of Neon gas and in the presence of Argon gas. The outcome also revealed that the optical properties of the obtained nanocomposite samples sturdily depend on the process of preparation. The TEM images of the two nanocomposites demonstrate the existence of nanoparticles with average diameter of 9.5 and 10.1 nm, correspondingly. Antimicrobial activity tests were conceded against Escherichia coli and we found that and microbial growth was steadily reduced as the concentration of Ag vary. Read More...

Synthesis and Characterization of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 Ceramics Prepared in Presence of Sodium
-J. Jeyabuvaneswari
This paper aims to study Na doping in Bi-2212 superconducting ceramics. Na-doped Bi-2212 samples powders with a Bi2-uSr2-vCa1-wCu2-xNayOz stoichiometry are prepared by means of thermal treatments. The intended Na substitution level, y, is fixed at 0.3. The initial content of the other ions is adopted so that Na substitution on one crystallographic site only is expected. Samples are characterized by electrical properties, X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) and Energy Dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). The influence of Na on the crystal chemistry and phases compatibility for 2212 materials is emphasized. Electrical resistivity results show that the critical temperature is independent of the sample initial stoichiometry. In some cases the production of a Bi-2223 phase is however enhanced. Read More...

Development and Testing of Pneumatic Jack System for Vehicles
-Mr. Harsh R. Patel ; Mr. Vishal M. Patel; Mr. Arpit M. Kabrawala; Mr. Dishantkumar G. Patel; Mr. Abhimanyu D. Valia
A jack is a mechanical device used as a lifting devices to lift heavy loads or apply great forces. Various innovations have been done in the jacks with different electronic and mechanical devices. This project is based on pneumatic jack which is one of the efficient jack from all its types. The available jacks in the market are time consuming and also require much efforts which makes use of jack very difficult. As the jack is also required to set at "jack point" which further increases the complications in its application. So need of automatic inbuilt jack in automobiles is inescapable. It can be vastly used in light weight to medium weight cars. It can also be used in maintenance purpose. The project can be made highly feasible if considered while designing the vehicle, as the model is an inbuilt device assembly so a greater perfection, higher stability and accuracy can be seen if installed during the designing rather than installing it later after the design. Artificial Intelligence in Gaming
-Mayuresh Anant Shirke ; Aniket Abaji Rankhambe; Prof. Swapna Nikale
Computer games are increasingly popular application for Artificial Intelligence (AI) research, and conversely AI is an increasingly popular selling point for commercial games. Although games are typically associated with entertainment, there are many serious applications of gaming, including military, corporate, and advertising applications. There are also so called "human" gaming applications for medical training, educational games, and games that reflect social consciousness or advocate for a cause. Game AI is the effort of going beyond scripted interactions, however complex, into the arena of truly interactive systems that are responsive, adaptive, and intelligent. Such systems learn about the player(s) during game play, adapt their own behaviour beyond the pre-programmed set provided by the game author, and interactively develop and provide a richer experience to the player(s). The long-term goal of our research is to develop artificial intelligence techniques that can have a significant impact in the game industry. In this paper, we present a list of challenges and research opportunities in developing techniques that can be used by computer game developers. We discuss three Case Based Reasoning (CBR) approaches to achieve adaptability in games: automatic behaviour adaptation for believable characters; drama management and user modelling for interactive stories; and strategic behaviour planning for real-time strategy games.
