Comparative Study on Strength of Concrete Structures Using Human Hair and Nylon Fiber in Concrete
-Sharad Sangappa Kapale ; Prof. M. S. Kariappa
Fiber can be defined as a small piece of reinforcing material possessing certain dimensional characteristics. The properties of fiber reinforced concrete are very much affected by the type of fiber. The properties of fiber reinforced concrete are very much affected by the type of fiber. Fibers are secondary reinforced material and acts as crack arrester. Prevention of propagation of cracks originating from internal flaws can result in improvements in static and dynamic properties of matrix. Fiber reinforced cement and concrete materials (FRC) have been developed progressively since the early work by Romualdi and Batson in the 1960s. By the 1990s, a wide range of fiber composites and FRC products were commercially available and novel manufacturing techniques were developed for use with high fiber content. In parallel with the commercial development of FRC materials and products, an extensive research programme was undertaken to quantify the enhanced properties of FRC materials and more specifically to allow comparisons to be made between various types of fibers. Fiber reinforced concrete is one among those advancements which offers a convenient, practical and economical method for overcoming micro cracks and similar type of deficiencies. Since concrete is weak in tension hence some measures must be adopted to overcome this deficiency. Human hair is generally strong in tension; hence it can be used as a fiber reinforcement material. Human hair Fiber is an alternative non-degradable matter available in abundance and at cheap cost. It also reduces environmental problems. Also addition of human hair fibers enhances the binding properties, micro cracking control, Imparts ductility and also increases swelling resistance. The experimental findings in our studies would encourage future research in the direction for long term performance to extending this cost of effective type of fibers for use in structural applications. Experiments were conducted on concrete cubes, cubes and beams of standard sizes with addition of various percentages of human hair fiber and nylon fiber. Experiments were conducted on concrete cubes, cubes and beams of standard sizes with addition of various percentages of human hair fiber and nylon fiber i.e., 0%, 0.7%, and 1.4% by weight of cement, fine & coarse aggregate and results were compared with those of plain cement concrete of M-30 grade. For each percentage of human hair and nylon fiber are added separately in concrete, cubes and beams were tested for their respective mechanical properties at curing periods of 7 and 28 days. slump cone test were undertaken as well as hardened concrete test is compressive strength and Flexural Strength at the age of 7 and 28 days was obtained. Analysis of Free Natural Convection Flow through Enclosure Cavity by Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) Analysis
-Himanshu Mehta ; Dr. Shailesh Gupta; R. Kumar
In CFD approaches, the partial differential equations are converted into algebraic equations by discretization methods (i.e. finite difference, finite volume and finite element method). The algebraic equations are modified to incorporate boundary conditions. The large set of algebraic equations so obtained, is then solved by iterative numerical procedures to obtain the Unknown flow variables like pressure, velocity, temperature etc. at all grid points in the domain of interest. The solution can then be visualized in the form of velocity vector plot, contour plots of pressure, temperature or any other derived quantity. Important engineering quantities like heat flux, drag force, lift force; pressure drop etc. can be calculated from the solution. Read More...

-Jyoti Mahapure ; Satyajit B. Patil; ABhijit M. Zende
Watershed is simply the geographic area through which water flows across the land and drains into a common body of water, whether a stream, river, lake, or ocean. A surface runoff (also known as overland flow) part of watershed is the flow of water occurring on the ground. Soil conservation Service (SCS) method is a simple, widely used efficient method for determining the approximant amount of runoff from a rainfall even in particular area. The runoff estimated from the SCS-CN model used to know the variation of runoff with different land use/land cover and with different soil conditions. The study area is carried out in Nandani river which is a major tributary of Yerala river, Nandani river Kadegaon Tahsil of Sangli District. The yearly rainfall data of 3 rain gauge stations (1998-2019) is collected. Landuse/Landcover map was prepared from the satellite image and soil map of study area was prepared using GIS. Landuse/Landcover map and Soil map are used to estimate curve number for SCS method. Antecedent Moisture Conditions (AMC-I, AMC-II and AMC-III) are also used for selecting suitable curve number in study area. SCS-CN method was used to determine the runoff depth distribution using Remote sensing and GIS. Read More...

Securing of Coloured Images Using Visual Cryptography and Digital Enveloping
-Mamta Gahlan
Visual Cryptography is a Cryptography scheme which is used to secure images. In this scheme the image to be sent to receiver via sender is divided into number of shares and then they are sent to the receiver. In Decryption processes, these shares of images are combined or stacked together to get an original image. The initial model developed was only for the binary images. Later the black and white images or 0-1 image was further studied for the Coloured Images that means for Red, Green, and Blue. For the RGB images various methods have been developed but in all these techniques the received image has degraded quality. In this paper we propose a new algorithm with implementation for coloured visual cryptography and making it more secured by applying Digital Enveloping technique on the shares of the image. Digital Enveloping is a technique in which shares, of the image to be sent, are distributed over various sample images to create what is known Enveloped images. At the receiver end, shares are retrieved from the enveloped images and combined to form original image without degrading the quality of image. The important feature of the Visual Cryptography is decryption process is done by human eyes not the computer less computational power is required. Read More...

-Mukhtarahmed G. Ghodesawar ; Umadevi C. Jadaramkunti; Ravindranath H. Aladakatti
A study was conducted to evaluate the rate of haemostatic indices and wound healing activity of aqueous (AIAE), ethanol (AIEE), petroleum ether (AIPE) and benzene extracts (AIBE) of Azadirachta indica leaves in adult Wister albino rats by topical route of administration. Among seven groups of rats, one group had no wound on their skins (Group I) and remaining of six groups were experimentally wounded in the nape of the dorsal neck. A thin layer of blank placebo was applied topically to the wounds of control rats (Group II). Wounds of experimental animals [(AIAE, Groups IV), (AIEE, Groups V), (AIPE, Groups VI) and (AIBE, Groups VI)] were treated with placebo containing 10% A.indica leaves extracts, respectively. A thin layer of standard Povidone Iodine ointment was applied topically to wounds of Group III animals as reference. The haemostatic analysis showed that the decrease was significant in the different extracts preparations groups but not significant in Groups II and III when compared independently with the control group I. Macroscopically, wounds treated with placebo containing different extracts or Povidone Iodine ointment have been significantly accelerated the rate of wound healing compared to placebo-treated wounds. Histological analysis of healed wounds has confirmed this effect. Wounds treated with placebo containing different extracts or Povidone Iodine ointment showed markedly less scar width at wound enclosure and granulating tissue contained markedly more collagen and proliferating fibroblasts, but with the absence of inflammatory cells compared to wounds treated with blank placebo. In conclusion, the significant effect on haemostatic indices and increased rate of wound healing together with the histological findings in the extracts treated animals supports the claims made by traditional healers of the benefits obtained from the medicinal use of A.indica. Analysis of Multi-Pulse Converters for Harmonic Reduction
-Yamuna Prasad ; Amita Mahor
This research paper deals with the reduction of Total Harmonic Distortion using Multi-pulse AC to DC Conversion scheme. The three-phase multi-pulse AC to DC conversion system employs a phase-shifting transformer and a three-phase. Every such converter provides 6-pulse AC to DC conversion, so in order to produce more sets of 6-pulse systems, a uniform phase-shift is required and hence with proper phase-shifting angle, 12, 18, 24, 30, and higher pulse systems have been produced. The performance improvement of multi-pulse converter is achieved for total harmonics distortion (THD) in supply current, DC voltage ripples and form factor. All the simulations have been done for similar ratings for all the multi-pulse converters configurations. The results are obtained for both uncontrolled and controlled converters for R, RL and RC Load. Read More...

Turmeric Grading on Principle Characteristics
-Manjula R Chougala ; Dr.Ramachandra A C
India is depending on agriculture and related allied sectors for livelihood. More than 70% of population depend primarily on agriculture. Soil, climate and rainfall are most favourable for various crops. There are few rare and important crops grown in all regions of India in different varieties, one among those crops is Turmeric. Agriculture products marketing has become automated as the result of advanced technologies in Digital Image Processing (DIP) and Computer Vision (CV) techniques. In today’s fast, competitive marketing, consumers tend to have healthy and hygienic products that are sorted according to their physical characteristics like appearance, colour, size, moisture content, quality, variety and other physical properties depending on the products. Grading is crucial and important stage after harvesting, storing and before marketing any agricultural products. Turmeric Grading is an overall assessment of quality, based on appearance with respect to colour, shape, texture and size. Curcumin is the colour component in turmeric and obtained by cross sectional image of rhizomes. This paper focuses on grading of Turmeric on curcumin colour by extracting Red Green and Blue (RGB) values using histogram and K-NN classifier. The classification of turmeric rhizomes based on size is done by calculating the area of the rhizome’s images. Canny edge detection algorithm is used for edge-based segmentation and area is calculated by pixel count of the image and categorized into three grades. Read More...

Bituminous Road Construction
-Kuldeep Sharma ; Kuldeep Yadav; Mr.Chhabi Lal Singh
Construction planning and execution is a fundamental and challenging activity in the management of construction projects. It involves the choice of technology, the definition of work tasks, the estimation of the required resources and durations for individual tasks, and the identification of any interactions among the different work tasks. A good construction plan is the basis for developing the budget and the schedule for work. Developing the construction plan is a critical task in the management of construction, even if the plan is not written or otherwise formally recorded. In addition to these technical aspects of construction planning, it may also be necessary to make organizational decisions about the relationships between project participants and even which organizations to include in a project. The extent to which subcontractors will be used on a project is often determined during construction planning. Construction time performance (CTP) and flexibility in approaches to project time planning have been shown to be significantly associated. This raises interesting questions about how effective planning and control to facilitate flexibility in overcoming unexpected problems may be achieved. Various tools and techniques such as Gantt chart, activity diagram and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) have aided the road construction projects in an effective manner. Read More...

Space Debris Types, Impacts and Mitigation
-S. Parthasarathi ; Krishita Ritesh Mali
In the past Sixty-Three years, Space around and orbits of our Earth themselves had gone from a virtually debris-free environment, now to a space cluttered and shattered with artificial (Man-Made) objects that threaten all the accesses and assets for future space explorations, launches, active satellites, operational satellites, and even the ISS. The Space Debris is more than 128.934 million shreds, drifting in insanely fast orbital speeds, reaching sizes from a Computer Monitor to a tiny piece of paint fleck. These huge amounts of fragments are mainly from the space activities of three main countries China, Russia, and the United States of America. Now there are more than 100 million objects that are larger than 1 mm orbiting around Earth and impossible to monitor and also hard to get shielded, causing huge damage and economical loss. We integrate and propose new systems. The efforts of our study are made to know all possible ways to solve and overcome this problem. Ensuring a safe future for Space Exploration. By the end of this context, one can illustrate the Reasons, Types, Impacts or Effects, and Management Strategies of the Space Debris and peaceful uses of the universe. Read More...

-Ranjeet Bhalerao ; Prof. R. R. Kulkarni
The purpose of the passenger Vehicle wheel rim provides a firm base on which to fit the tire. Its dimensions, shape should be suitable to properly accommodate the particular tire required for the vehicle. In this study we are focusing on the optimization of weight by using FEA method. The wheel rim is designed by using modeling software catiaV5R19 by reverse engineering procedure. In modeling the time spent in producing the 3-D models and the risk involved in design and manufacturing process can be easily minimized. For better design results this CATIA model is imported to ANSYS for analysis work. ANSYS software is the latest used for simulating the different forces acting on the component and also for calculating and viewing the results. A solver mode in ANSYS software calculates the stresses, deflections and their relations without manual interventions, reduces the time compared with the method of mathematical calculations by a human. Also in the weight of component is display by density and size of material. ANSYS static analysis work is carried out by considered four different materials namely aluminum alloy, Mg alloy, mild steel and Composite material. Also their relative performances have been observed respectively. In addition to this rim is subjected to FEA analysis. In this paper by observing the results of both FEA static analysis and testing results obtained by comparing weight of all selected material and find the best material in that all material. Digitalization of Gas Detectors Using IoT and Cloud Computing
-Swej Kumar Sharma ; Nitin Lodha; Chitresh Kundu; Manish Kumar Singh
Many industrial processes produce harmful and poisonous gases and vapors which can burn when mixed with air, sometimes violently. Gas detectors can make a valuable contribution to the safety of these processes. They can be used to trigger alarms if a specified concentration of the gas or vapor is exceeded. This can provide an early warning of a problem and help to ensure people’s safety. However, a detector does not prevent leaks occurring or indicate what action should be taken. It is not a substitute for safe working practices and maintenance. Dusty, corrosive or damp environment will affect the frequency of inspection, maintenance and calibration. This paper presents the role of IoT and embedded technologies to design and development of centralized real time continuous monitoring and alarming system. This system used for detection and measurement of harmful and poisonous gas and for higher level communication and transmission and have been effectively implemented in the Steel Manufacturing scenario in applications which have added value to the Bottom and Top Line of the company. Handling Outliers Efficiently Using Partition Based Clustering Techniques
-Tarnnum Khan ; Mr. Ranjan Thakur
Outliers are data which can be considered anomalous due to several causes (e.g. erroneous measurements or anomalous process conditions). Outlier detection techniques are used, for instance, to minimize the influence of outliers in the final model to develop, or as a preliminary pre-processing stage before the information conveyed by a signal is elaborated. The traditional outlier detection methods can be classified into four main approaches: distance-based, density-based, clustering- based and distribution-based. In the proposed approach is based on two partition based clustering methods K-Mean and PAM. K Mean method is based on mean values of the object belongs in the cluster. K- mean find the distance of each objects from the mean objects and the object which has minimum distance from the mean object are keep in the cluster otherwise the object are swapped into the cluster whose mean has minimum distance. Some time when outliers are present in the data set we consider these outliers in any one of the cluster. These outliers are affecting the mean value of the clusters. Because of these outliers which are basically not belongs to any of the clusters we have to consider in then ion K-mean. But in case of PAM we choose the objects as the medoid as a cluster center, so when we calculate the distance of other objects with this center objects ,the outliers are easily identified.
