A Study of Recycled Rubber Effect of Compatibilization in Polyethylene
-Ambarish Kumar ; Mr. Abdul Jabbar
Compatibilization of thermoplastic elastomer mixes containing polyethylene and recycled rubber was contemplated. Two compatibilization strategies, reactive and non-reactive, were assessed. 1-octene (EXACT 0210) was utilized as non-reactive compatibilizer. Phenolic tars or resins (SP1045 and HRJ10518) were reactive specialists. They're existed ideal arrangement of compatibilizers which were 5% and 10% load if there should be an occurrence of reactive and non-reactive specialists individually. Octene-compatibilized mixes invigorated high tear while gum compatibilized blends invigorated high tractable in correlation with reference material. Examination in compatibilizing abilities HRJ-10518 and SP-1045 was completed. The previous one would do well to capacities than the last mentioned. Talcum was utilized as against agglomeration specialist however it neglected to work appropriately. Rubber molecule size had considerable impact on mechanical strength if there should be an occurrence of HRJ-10518 based mixes while no amazing impact was found in the event of octene-based partners. Calendaring pressing factor could be limited with no unfavorable impact. Non-vulcanized rubber was used to improve tear strength yet its impact was off-set by the corruption of interfacial surface at high temperature. SEM investigation uncovered homogeneous micro-structure in the two sorts of compatibilization. Accurate 0210-compatibilized mixes showed more plastic distortion of the framework than reactive mixes. Stable association between stages was also observed. Read More...

Performance Analysis of Solar Based Absorption Refrigeration System
-Ravi Y V ; Harshith S Ram; Banu Prasad C N; Vijay Kumar Patil
The interest in employing absorption refrigeration systems is usually related to electricity’s precariousness since these systems generally use thermal rejects for their activation. The application of these systems is closely linked to the concept of energy polygeneration, in which the energy demand to operate them is reduced, which represents their main advantage over the conventional vapor compression system. Currently, the solution pairs used in commercial absorption chillers are lithium bromide/water and ammonia/water. The latter pair has been used in air conditioning and industrial processes due to the ammonia operation’s low temperature. Few review papers on absorption chillers have been published, discussing the use of solar energy as the input source of the systems, the evolution of the absorption refrigeration cycles over the last decades, and promising alternatives to increase the performance of absorption refrigeration systems. -M Darshan ; Purushothama C G; Varun N R; Vinay Kumar; Santhosh Kumar H N
Composite materials are emerging chiefly in response to unprecedented demands from technology due to rapidly advancing activities in aircrafts, aerospace and automotive industries. These materials have low specific gravity that makes their properties particularly superior in strength and modulus to many traditional engineering materials such as metals. Fatigue is a major issue concerning the use of aluminum composites in structural applications. Fatigue leads to weakening of material majorly due to the strain bands formed in the material when it is subjected to repeated loading; the damage that occurs due to fatigue is a progressive and localized one. Henceforth in the current work, fatigue behavior of boron carbide and tungsten carbide dispersion strengthened high performance hybrid Al 7075 metal matrix composites are evaluated. The main purpose of fatigue characterization is to distinctly evaluate the life cycle of components that are fabricated from metal matrix composites and eventually develop a framework model for the significant study of fatigue strength of the structure with persistent striations all along the interstitials of aluminum-boron carbide and tungsten carbide interfaces. A Review on Nanofluid as a Coolant for Enhancing the Performance of the Automobile Radiator
-Megha Zanzote ; Rajendra Sarda
The performance of a radiator depends on the coolant used in it for the transfer of heat. Water and ethylene glycol are the conventional fluids used in radiator as a coolant. The thermal conductivity of the nanofluids is found to be more than these conventional coolants. Their use in the radiator enhances the heat transfer performance. In this paper the effect of different nanofluids on the performance parameters of the radiator is covered from different literatures. The size of nanoparticles, the shape of nanoparticles and the concentration of nanofluid plays an important role in the heat transfer. From different literatures it is observed that the Nusselt number and heat transfer coefficient increases with the use of the nanofluids. With the use of the nanofluids the reduced size of the radiator is achieved with the same or better thermal performance than the base fluids. Read More...

Hybrid PV/Diesel Energy System for Power Generation System: A Review
-Dinesh Nain ; Deepak kumar
The continuous decline of costs for renewable energy technology, together with the establishment of a mature alternative energy industry, has led to the increased utilisation of renewable energy sources for remote area power generation. Rural households in industrialised and less developed countries attach high value to a reliable supply of electricity even if its capacity is limited. The paper reviews the current state of the design and operation of stand-alone PV-diesel hybrid energy systems. It highlights future developments, which have the potential to increase the economic competitiveness of such systems and their acceptance by the user. In 2018 the number of people without access to electricity dropped to less than 1 billion. However, the difficulty of serving these people became higher, as the locations are in the most remote areas of the world. Brazil, for example, needs to bring electricity to around 1 million people who, in the vast majority, live within the Amazon region. In this way, hybrid energy systems (HESs) count as an attractive alternative for power generation, especially in remote areas. Therefore, this article analyzes a case study of a hybrid photovoltaic-diesel system installed in the TapajoÌs-Arapiuns Extractive Reserve in the Brazilian Amazon region. The studied plant is composed of a photovoltaic (PV) system, a lead-acid electrochemical battery bank, a diesel generator, and electro-electronic loads with highly variable demand throughout the year. The HOMER PRO software is used as the simulation tool. The results show that the load following dispatch strategy is the best option, with 85.6% of the load demand being supplied by PV energy and only 14.4% by the diesel generator set. As a result, the system is technically feasible to be replicated as a reliable energy source in other areas of the reserve to supply schools, public health places, and other community services. Performance Analysis of Hybrid PV/Diesel Power Generation System with Battery Storage
-Dinesh Nain ; Deepak kumar
The need for renewable energy sources is on the rise because of the acute energy crisis in the world today. India plans to produce 100 Gigawatts Solar power by the year 2020 under JNNSM. Solar energy is a vital untapped resource. The main hindrance for the penetration and reach of solar PV systems is their low efficiency and high capital cost. In this, we examine a schematic to extract maximum obtainable solar power from a PV module and use the energy for a DC and AC application. Integration of photovoltaic system with the diesel generator as a backup system is being escalated worldwide to minimize the consumption of fossil fuel resources. The hybrid power generation bring into productive action only by employing a suitable strategic control in operation of connected system. In this dissertation, the main objective is to deal with a control strategy that was developed to control the operation of diesel generator and charging/discharging of the battery storage system. The controlling action was detailed in such a way that it coordinates when the power is generated by the solar panel and when to operate the diesel generator and the battery so that the demands of the local utilities in the remote areas should be met with the installed generating system. The main focus in the management strategy of PV/diesel-battery hybrid system is to make the maximum usage of the renewable resource with battery storage system while making the operation of diesel generator in adverse conditions. The management strategy is described in detail through the data flow chart that narrates the different modes of operation considering the variant solar radiations. Read More...

Pushover Analysis of Steel Structures with Different Plan Configuration - A Literature Review
-Mohammad Monis Qureshi ; Dr J N Vyas
In India, seismic study of steel structures couldn’t be done because of lack of theoretical and practical studies in engineers and researchers. So, in this review paper we studied about the performance based analysis of steel structures according to IS 1893:2016. We studied the steel structure with different systems and plans using different software. The behaviour of steel structure under the action of seismic effect, could suffer a considerable degree of freedom in the direction of Seismic load. Steel is by far most useful material in construction and played an important role in last few decades. It must necessary to analyze and design a structure to perform well under seismic loads and also endow with well strength, stability and ductility for seismic design. The seismic performance of a multi-story steel frame structure is analyzed according to the provision of current Indian code (IS 800-20007), seismic data and seismic factor from Indian code (IS1893-2016). Few guidelines like Applied Technology Council (ATC40) and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA356) have used. The study of Steel Structures with different plan configuration is very essential now a day, as it will help to understand the behaviour of the structure in certain circumstances. Read More...

Precocious Fiat Currency Computing Robot
-Abhay Patil ; Aniruddha P. Kshirsagar
Counting and classifying currency notes with accuracy and high speed is a challenging problem for banks, stores, and even consumers. Before the arrival of currency counting machines, people used to count currency manually. This procedure was not only tedious and time-consuming but also prone to mistakes. Although relatively common in North American and European markets, counting machines have yet to be fully developed for the Indian market. This is partly because of the lack of distinctive features to differentiate between denominations and the variability in the features for a given denomination. This mini-project aims to see whether machine vision techniques can be used to recognize and count Indian currency notes accurately and at high speed. Although there are currency recognition algorithms documented in the literature, the applications work offline with static images of the notes. In this proposed mini-project, a color sensor-based system for the online classification of moving notes is evaluated. Read More...

As industrial motor and generators has continuous long-term operation may be in years hence, like any piece of industrial equipment it needs maintenance, scheduled periodic visual inspections for optimal machine performance. The project aims for design of motor with on board system which will be capable of self-lubrication and cleaning itself while in running condition automatically, also as cooling plays major role in durability, rating and efficiency of drive hence to remove heating spots problem the device will be equipped with latest hydrocarbon cooling system as well as provision for liquid coolant based forced cooling system. Also, device is to be equipped with automatic lubrication system for lubrication of most stressed parts of an industrial drive which are subject to regular wear & tear which may lead to failure of device. Complete system is autonomous & runs its operation as per set standards as well as demand-based requirement for efficient run of drive using microcontroller & sensors. Successful long-term operation of dc motors and generators, like any piece of industrial equipment, needs maintenance. For cleaning and maintenance, the motor either have vents or else a technician manually disassembles the motor & do the maintenance work which is time consuming and cannot be done while motor under operation, this leads to loss of service. Also due to improper or prolonged maintenance the system deteriorates and may subject to failure. In traditional system the lubrication of brush movement, bearings, bushings are done either at installation or at time of maintenance but with time it gets consumed and the start wear and tear and are most common subject to failure of drive. The effect of cryorolling and cold rolling on tensile strength and hardness of Al 6101 alloy have been investigated in the present work. The Al 6101 alloy was rolled in two high rolling mills for different thickness reduction (10%, 20%, 30%, and 40%) at cryogenic (liquid nitrogen) temperature and at atmospheric temperature and its mechanical properties were studied by using tensile testing and hardness. The microstructure characterization of the tensile failure specimen was carried out by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It is observed that the tensile strength and hardness of cryorolled material up to 40 % thickness reduction have increased compare to the cold rolling. The improved tensile strength and hardness of the cryorolled Al 6101 alloy is due to grain refinement, decreasing dimple size with increasing the percentage of thickness reduction and ultra-fine grain (100nmRead More...

Evaluation of Ulsoor Lake Water Quality
-Mohammad Abubakar ; Mr. Bhavan Kumar
Ever increasing population, urbanization and modernization are posing problems of sewage disposal and contamination of surface waters like lakes. Natural water gets contaminated due to weathering of rocks, leaching of soils and mining processing, etc. Various types of problems in lake which cause nutrient enrichment in lake have been reviewed. Land use change and longer growing seasons could increase the use of fertilizers with subsequent leaching to watercourses, rivers and lakes, increasing the risk of eutrophication and loss of biodiversity. Water quality can be assessed by various parameters such as BOD, Electrical Conductivity, Nitrate, Phosphate, Potassium, Dissolved Oxygen, etc. Heavy metals such as Nickel, Lead, Chromium are of special concern because they produce water or chronic poisoning in aquatic animals. Harmful algal blooms are becoming increasingly common in freshwater ecosystems globally. Pollution by plastic debris is an increasing environmental concern in water bodies, where it affects open-water and benthic environments. Surface water densities of plastics are as high as those reported for areas of litter accumulated. Different methods have been used to analyse the water quality of lake such as Hyperion, water quality index and hazard quotient. It is recommended that pollution prevention and water re-use should be adopted in combination with the recycling of nutrients in controlled urban agriculture. Read More...
