Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the tubercle amplitude effect on wing aerodynamic performance in transonic flow by using the CFD simulation. The NACA0012 airfoil is selected for 3D wing modeling. Two models are generated, one is baseline and other is tubercle with amplitude of 5% of mean chord and wavelength 11% of means chord are observed. The comparison of baseline or smooth leading edge model with tubercle model is performed in the form of L/D ratio. The TLE(Tubercle leading-edge) model has good performance up to some extent but when it is compared to SLE (Smooth leading-edge) model its aerodynamic performance is less at an angle of attack 3°. The best performance of baseline model compared to tubercle model is contribution of this research.
