Abstract

On railway station, people's needs to pass from one platform to another platform so as to arrive and depart at their particular train. To facilitate this we have options of trespassing the platform, toil the staircase route or sometimes electric escalators are provided. However, this options are either a costly affair or time consuming affair. Moreover, sometimes it becomes not useful to people like childrens and aged persons, disabled persons, etc. With this project we plan to introduce a working model of automatic railway Platform Bridge, On railway stations, this bridge moves forward and backward using rack gear and pinion arrangement. Bridge will open when track is empty or any train will not pass on platform track while bridge will remains closed when train will arrive on platform track. This bridge will facilitate easy maneuverability of passengers effort in going from one platform to another. The aged and disabled person can easily move across the other side. Automatic bridge can operate by using "timer base and manual operator or sensor base and manual operators". When the train will pass from platform then command will be send through microcontroller to motor to operate the bridge mechanism automatically with the negligible or no manual intervention.
