Abstract

The key task of object detection in computer vision is to detect and recognize features in images. In recent years, the development of object detection algorithms has made great progress and methods based on deep learning have produced state of the art results. This work describes many object detection methods, including traditional feature-based methods and deep learning-based methods. We cover object detection problems, including occlusion, scaling, and warping of objects, and methods to solve them. We also review some well-known object recognition datasets and benchmarks to determine the performance of object detection algorithms. Finally, we discuss some current trends and potential future avenues in object detection research.
